  • Shikoku has always been one of my favourite areas of Japan but I really didn't realise just how much stuff there is to do here. This was one of the most in-depth, chill and insightful trips I've ever been on, so thank you Shikoku tourism for sponsoring this trip.

I have had a tough last couple of days (family health issues). And I have to say, that coming home and watching this video really really calmed me all the way down. I was SO soothingly edited and soft spoken and just generally serene, that I am almost weeping right now. So thank you for this.

I can't tell how much I enjoy your style of video making. It is so raw, honest, and true. Keep it up, even your videos maybe don't work as good as they did before at the moment. You're doing a wonderful job. Stoked to see what you're doing next with your "new kinda style" videos 😉. Cheers from rainy, cold Switzerland 😊.

@drjustininjapan Hi Dr Justin! I wanted to ask if there are any for-hire drivers in Shikoku?
I’ve heard from friends who visited that it’s best explored by car… My friends and I can’t drive, but we would really love to explore all the beauty in Shikoku!

I love this. You've captured the grandeur of the Iya valley superbly. That drone shot of the town with the little red umbrella was sublime too. The pacing of the whole video was perfect (and music!). The next time we go to Shikoku I will have to take a drone. I don't think I was able to get any shots of the valley that does the majesty of the place any justice. But we loved it. From the soba to the Nagoro scarecrow village it has become one of our favourite places in Japan. We were lucky enough to stay in a cheap guesthouse opposite the main vine bridge but the husband and wife and monkey bridges up the road a bit were more fun for the family. As was the scarecrow village I mentioned. Now we need to go to Teshima. We did catch the ferry to Naoshima and it was pretty amazing though. We can't wait to go back.

The balance of capturing the journey while allowing us time to soak in the subtleties of texture, atmosphere, and being present was so well done. You described it at the end, this is what solo travel does. It reveals a lot of moments where the connection and energy can be yours and yours alone. I felt this through the entire video and it's so empowering. Thank you for taking us along with you.

The artisanship on display in these shops you always visit is staggering. Dedication to traditional crafts is sort of coming back in the states, but boy can you see it never stopped being en vogue in Japan. Beautiful to see that you can cling to tradition without sacrificing ingenuity. So funny that you felt these tourism sponsor videos were getting impersonal, but I'll say this one was distinctly Hannah in all the ways we appreciate. Your eye for cinematography continues to improve. Excited for what is to come!

What were they feeding you?!? The itinerary of the trip seemed really fast paced. Faster then you normally go when showing us a location. I can see why... they were trying to fit in all the artisans. The art that you saw and produced was amazing! Maybe those could be part of your merch? I would never leave that library! I think your drone shots are becoming breathtaking! How do you shoot a drone shot and ride a bike at the same time?!? Do you participate in any upcoming festivals? Thanks, Hannah, great video!

I was born in an island near Shikoku and grew up to 7 years old, so this video made me very nostalgic.
Thank you for great video. It's like a French movie.
