I've studied English since I was a child, but never focused on pronunciation. And now I'm studying to be an English teacher and this is the accent they're teaching, that they're focusing on. I love many accents, I'm really passionate about the differences between them, English, Irish, Scotish, Aussie, and everything in between. And I'm sure we all appreciate the efforts you teachers make with these YT videos, so thank you!!
Years ago I was in India (I am form Germany) and I was immersed in English all day. But I didn't want to acquire an Indian accent so I tightly stuck to the RP I learned at school - so I hoped. Some weeks in my stay (which improved my vocabulary by tons!) I met a couple from London and we were talking about how fast India was developing. I was lacking a word and asked them for it - and they looked bewildered at me and told me how surprised they were when I told them I was from Germany, untel then they were sure I was from London also - from Kensington to be precise. Well, THAT made my day!
Sir, where were you stayed in India. I am an Indian. Yes you said right, India is developing but at a very slow pace. The main problem of India is that it has got very diverse linguistic, ethno, religious groups and a humongous population . Also it is very conservative and religious nation. I think the biggest problem is democratic framework of indian government. If we had a communist system like China than surely we would have been more developed than now and probably be a superpower till now. Many developmental projects take 15- 20 years for completion after so much debates and documentation in parliament. Take the example of China, in 1980 it was even more poorer than India. Now after 40 years in 2020, it has 10,000 US$ GDP per capita wheras we have still meagre 2,000 US$ GDP per capita. 1China = 5 India despite both nation has same population. I guess you might had visited some big metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai or Bangalore. Rest of India is still backward like African nations.😞😞
This is the best English accent teacher. I cannot immitate his accent. I would like to sound like him, but I frequently watch american contents. And your muscle memory technique is really works! 👍 I’ve practiced 10-20 minutes every day and it does change my pronunciation and intonation bit by bit. And now my accent sounds a lot better. Learning english is about your brain Learning accent is training your muscle memory Short frequent sessions (10 mins a day) Intonation Compare phonetic differences, Start with stress (your rock) and tone Improve intonation with listening- pick up from immersion 1-2 sounds at one time (about - aeuh) Create minimal pairs list Ears(listen to just 1 sound), eyes(reading), brain(words/phrases you use daily and practice it)

Learning accent is training your muscle memory

I really like the way you pronounce words Eliot, it makes me want to talk in English with the same accent as yours. I am following you on this channel and I mostly imitate you, your accent, your intonation, in order to speak English like you do. Thank you for your work, it really helps me. Yours sincerely.
