  • Like brewing espresso, steaming milk is not something you'll nail from the start. It'll take some knowledge, passion/interest, and lots of practice. I'm still working on getting consistent, but I wanted to finally create a video on steaming milk because so many of you have been asking me to! I hope you find this video helpful or, at the least, fun to watch. Thank you all for your support! I'm excited to create more coffee content moving forward 😊

Ok seriously, I've watched many an espresso video from the serious expert practitioners on youtube who are great. That said...you figure it out like we all would hope to do...step by step, trial and error, and deliver a great presentation that is humble, practical and delivers results! Boom. Well Done

Every time I regress in my milk texturing, I come back to this video. For whatever reason, I get complacent, and my texturing capabilities drop off about ever 3 weeks, so a refresher is nice. So, thank you for sharing in such a high-quality way!

Absolute magic. Thank you for the step by step tutorial. I actually use a Moka pot for my cappuccino and a milk frother. I find the froth from using the milk frother is too fine. Maybe I ‘ve left it too long but generally the consistency is acceptable.

This videos are great. I think the only thing is looking at the level of the milk rises based off the air and different drinks have different levels (foam) so flat white least amount of air, latte in the middle with foam and cappuccino the most foam and highest level of rise after initial steaming

Wow this is such a good tutorial. I wish i saw it a couple months ago. Theres such a difference between steaming on a dual boiler and a single boiler. You do such a great job explaining how to steam milk using the machine that, lets be real, most people actually have.
I did use a thermometer for about a week and that helped me get a feel for temperature.

    • @HijabsandAprons
      @HijabsandAprons  Рік тому

Thank you so much!! A big reason I wanted to share my experience/tips is exactly what you mentioned--many tutorials demo on a dual boiler or machines that are much more powerful than the more common Breville machines. The thermometer's very useful to get a better gauge of actual temp vs. feel in your own hand!! Thank you so much for watching and for your feedback!

Over the last few days I had a lot of issues getting a the microfoam at a point where I deemed that it was steam wand issue. After watching this video I now understand the science behind microfoam and that helped me fix my issues after following the technique you described here. The mistake that i was making was that i was burning the milk since i like coffeee hot and in that process ruining the whole microfoam creation process.I use the 30 degrees angle technique along with the instinct to judge the hotness of the mug to get a good microfoam. Also since I am using the same mug as you I am able to get the right amount of milk as you described and i see that gives me a lot of room to practice my latte art. Thank you for the detailed explanation and looking forward to more videos from you. Keep up with the good work !!

I have a Breville Barista Pro. It doesn't seem like there's enough room to work the pitcher downward if I have the wand in the front, even though I'm watching you do the same thing that I do.
    I have two questions:
    1) since I'm using a Breville Barista Pro and using the pitcher it came with, and pouring cold whole milk to the point where it's about a half inch under the spout, if I pull the steam wand out to its maximum, will that give me the same *angle* you're using?
2)Also how did you modify the steam knob to have that long piece so you can more easily turn the steam on and off?
    Thanks.

      1. You should be able to achieve the same angle as long as you move yourself to the side too in order to ensure the same angle.
      2. I have a video on that! Link to the item is in the description and on my website.

Oooh love your channels name. Salaam, I’m from California lived in the Middle East two decades ago. AnnMarie (ps- I’m going to stop ordering latte extra hot -you’re right it does taste burnt 🥵)

Thank you so much!! Oh gosh it could be the milk or they might be over-extracting the espresso. Or a sad combination of both 😂😭

i'm not sure whether the lag in the steam coming out is causing lots of bubbles, I'm just doing my second jug of milk today. I learned steaming on a commercial machine so am not really used to the difference in steam power

I think I've asked this on your video before, but where did you get those cups? esp that yellow/orange one, If I wanted to get those cups in other colors or patterns what type of cup should I look for? Thanks for you videos.

Heyy I recognize you! 👋🏼 thanks for watching my content! amzn.to/389b5vs
That's the cup/size I use for my lattes most often. Big enough to do sufficient latte art (you can fit even more art in there if you're advanced) and small enough to not have diluted espresso hahaa
