This game weirdly made me miss playing X-2 a lot. Especially the Gongaga bit where you play as Tifa, Aerith, and Yuffie only. The 3-girl squad here has so much potential for great moments. It made me hope Aerith would somehow survive in this timeline so we could get more T.A.Y moments. I was so upset only Yuffie got the sailor moon transformation bit in gold saucer. Was soooo reminiscent of the outfit changes in X-2.
It seems that they have sprinkled little bit of references to other FFs to this game. Like the baby chocobo on Barrets head or the Umbral Blade being a dark knight sword/ prime mode for FF14
There's a small reference to X-2 in Remake as well. In the Shinra museum, you can see an old photograph of the company and right in the middle is a man wearing a gas mask very similar to the one worn by Shinra in X-2.
You know the most obvious reference is when Cait Sith shoots a dress sphere at Yuffie and gave her that outfit. Even the transition is reminiscent of X-2.
Funny, you'd think there would be more nods to FFX/2 considering the fact that they're canonically in the same universe(Thousands of years apart on separate planets but still)

In FF X-2 the genius Al bhed known as Shinra (the one who created the dress sphere system) is the founder of Shinra Electric Power company, or rather he lays the ground work so that later, after his descendants create space travel and move to Gaia, they use his tech for drawing power from the Farplane to harness the planets mako energy.
Is that actuality canon? There’s lots of similar names across the series, as well as Easter eggs that the writers put in, but I’m pretty confident that only direct sequels share universes

It actively makes both universes worse and doesnt anything of substance to the lore of either game it just gives this wweird, extremely loose connection that hould have meant nothing more than noather reused name for something like the FF franchise always does with reused namess and characters.
