    This is beautiful. We were very glad to see it done with neutral browns, white and pearl. I have a question. As we watched there was a sample on your left white with a brown vein running its length. What is the recipe used for that and was there a video made?

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  4 роки тому +1

      Hey there. This is the video, I tweaked it a bit for this particular piece.

    If you weren't able to tilt the counter top to get the effect how would you move the resin without muddying the colours? Heatgun/Hairdryer? Great effect BTW 👍

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  4 роки тому

      If you use between 6-8 oz / square foot, the epoxy will actually move on its own and self level. Grease your board ( thin layer of epoxy) first before you pour your buckets and the material will flow very easily. Make sure you tape your edges and let set for a while so the material has time to flow. 😊

    What a wonderful way to start my Sunday Brunch! Looks so simple, well you make it that way! I’m going to trial it, but still cannot get the stonecoat in NZ. And can you recommend a hardener for the flush coat to make it strong? You are an artist my dear and a great teacher! Bless keep well! You must have a extractor fan? I find the rust oleum smells! Xx

    I have 2 questions.
    Is that painters tape that you are using?
    How long before you pull the tape for a dirty pour?

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  4 роки тому

      Yes it’s just regular painters tape. The time I wait varies on the temperature in the room. If it’s warm 78 or above I leave it an hour or so, cooler I leave longer. Up to 2 hours. You want the epoxy to set up quiet a bit so it very slowly runs over the edges.

    loved this! here is my challenge: I want to see purple mountain metallic powder, mystic moss metallic powder, teal (satin lagoon) spray paint and whatever other spray paints or additives you think would work on a sample board.

    Just asking we can't get much of a variety in the Rust-oleum spray paint range atm in Australia due to supply. Can we use other spray paints brands?

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  3 роки тому +1

      I would just do some sample boards to see how it goes. Some spray paints tend to clump in epoxy.

    beautiful! Would this combo be less likely to yellow over time? If so what solid color would you suggest if i chose this pattern for my island

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  4 роки тому +1

      It's already tinted with a slight amber shade but if you were concerned about yellowing down the road, you could most definitely use SCC Art Coat or even better, the Platinum.

    what does surface tension look like and what causes it?

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  4 роки тому

      Surface tension is when the epoxy separates or doesn’t want to flow in a certain area. It can be caused by not a rough surface/edge that aren’t sanded properly, Alcohol being spritzed, torching too late in the pouring process or the epoxy being too cold. All you have to do when you see it is tap the surface. Most of the time this will help close the area and the epoxy to flow.

    What effect does clear have?

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  3 роки тому

      The clear has propellants that will cause some really cool effects when you pour out of the bucket. 😊

    Ran through my supply of 91%.ISO. Not on self where I live.
    Found 99% ISO diluted it 91%. Seems to be working OK. Rather expensive tho. Your dirty pour turned out nice. dirty pour is my next project.

      I ran into the same problem. I have found that acetone is a great to use as a replacement to isopropyl and is a very cost effective too.
