@@gelo888it’s like this for 99% of live service or yearly release games without competition. The only examples I can think of where it doesn’t are the valorant and genshin impact community. However, both of those communities are just toxic positivity echo chambers that don’t allow any negative opinions on their previous game.
Yesterday I had a Wesker somehow vault a pallet which was beside him while looking directly at me, it looked so funny. Wesker matches can be one of the funniest ever.

I mean how many ppl still play WoW after the whole harassment ting? Still watch Netflix after cuties?! Don’t get me wrong Dbd isn’t Netflix or Blizzard, but some players even told me that they wanna quit Dbd but somehow cant. Newer generations really some Npcs for the most part unable to escape their programming.
i feel like there is a difference between a killer power that has anti-loop compared to loop denial. anti loop powers are the type that can allow you to potentially end a chase at a loop faster if used with enough skil. loop denial is when a killer just uses there power at a loop and the power is designed in such a way that the survivor has no choice but to instantly leave the loop or face a guaranteed injury and or down. now there are some unexpected killers that can fall into the loop denial category like trapper for instance because he can place a trap down correctly mid chase and make the loop unusable but what makes it not so annoying / op is that his traps are limited so you can just run away from 1 or 2 loops and then he has no chase potential anymore as opposed to any of the other loop denial killers that have a cooldown on loop denial potential whcih makes it so they can do it at any loop possible with little to no skill
@@spencerbowden2979 depends on exactly which killer it is some killers lose significantly more distance than others for missing or just generally misusing their power and could probably let you get to another loop before the power cools down for example if a pyramid head misses a hit you might be able to get to another loop depending on how far it is but a lot of the time it's best to just stay at the loop and continue dodging untill the killer decides to kick where as the killers that just set down something that makes the loop impossible to use don't really need to kick the pallet and instead just need to continue following the survivor which is what is likely to lead them towards a hit
spooks will stop at nothing to perpetuate the "stop whining its a video game" repertoire to sound mature in all his videos and streams, but any person with a inkling of emotional intelligence will pick up on the cognitive dissonance when he gets shit on by a player who is not interested in winning or losing the game. They're just there with the sole purpose of wanting to ruin your day. Yeah, who would have thought? Strip a hacker/cheater of being able to cheat, you're still getting the same person with the same animosity. And if you dare let yourself be bothered by it, oh no... you get called out as being an immature man child. You won't get to hang with the cool kids. I think spooks knows better, but doesn't want to stop perpetuating the 'drama for content' space where viewers are actively looking for that moral adversity every hour of the day. He's cooking it up for them. And it doesn't HELP with the problem, it just comes full circle. Thats why the community is so known to be as toxic as it appears to be on the surface. Because we've got content creators calling other people out, then posting it for views. Then virtue signal as if they are totally against the drama when it serves them.

I agree that we are not reponsible for other players' fun, but that does not mean we should pick the shittiest playstyles and make people's game experience miserable. If spook truly believes that people should ONLY play for their own fun, then don't rant about the game "dying" cause he is part of the reason why it is happening.
His logic is basically contradictory. He's now whining about the playerbase because he thinks they are wrongfully "whining"... about the playerbase. He doesn't have a concrete argument. And either he's clueless or he just intentionally avoids the fact that people are implicitly complaining about the state of the game when they "whine" about slugging. Whatever fits his narrative, I guess.
I don't think it's his attitude towards people that dislike him that's the problem. I think my issue with Spooks is that it's difficult to believe he's sincerely concerned about people's fun or enjoyment of the game when he chooses to unapologetically play in a way that makes the game not fun for the other side. Obviously it's one match and you move on to the next one, but he still made a choice to make that match not fun for the other people. So when he's like "Oh the Skull Merchant just 3 gens and the Knight just makes you leave the loop and that's not fun." Ok. People have been telling him that getting face camped isn't fun and his response is basically "yeah you're right lol." Would he accept that answer from a 3 genning Knight? Obviously not if he's dedicated three minutes of his video to talk about how much he hates it. It's pretty hypocritical. Why is *his* universally hated strategy all fun and games but the other ones aren't? Because those are the ones he personally doesn't like? And the answer is obviously that none of them are fun, but that's why I don't really believe that he cares about the community that much or that his concerns over people having fun are genuine. He has no problem ruining a match for one or two survivors if it's fun to him, but it's another story when he's on the receiving end of something he doesn't like. Then, apparently, it's not just one match and he can't just move on to the next one.
This is a really fair point, it's a shame Scott didn't touch on that too actually. Like he always says fun isn't anyone else's responsibility and, to an extent, I think he's right. But then there's people going out of their way to be douchers who at that point don't really have legs to stand on to complain about other people's play styles

Spooks stance is you aren't responsible for other peoples fun. The difference is the consensus of the community is pretty unanimous that the SM and Knight are busts (I happen to actually enjoy the Knight but it does seem to be the general sentiment.) So it's not really hypocritical to play basement Bubba but say the last two chapters have been boring flops.
Yeah, surely it's the new killers that hardly anyone plays making the game so unfun, not the strategy of making sure that one person spends most of the game sitting on a hook that any killer can choose to use. Like, I can honestly respect the opinion of "It's in the game. Just deal with it." but it kind of comes with the assumption that that person also doesn't complain about things in the game that they don't find fun either.
The issue I have with this streamer is that he says people are whiny and he plays in a spiteful way or in a way intentionally trying to get a rise out of gamers, and then pikachu faces when people are upset they’ve wasted 15 minutes of their time each game. That time adds up, and grown ass adults don’t want to join a game for fun and sit for 4minutes on the ground after their teammate got tunneled out at 5 gens in solo q.
8:10 Good mobility killers or killers with a special attack that doesn't outright lock down a loop (think Demo/Wesker versus Artist) avoid both these problems. Don't know how the devs still haven't caught onto the fact that playing loops is fun
I would also posit that Oni and Huntress are both well designed killers, they both have counter play in chase but also have a degree of skill expression where you feel rewarded for getting good with them. Outplaying an Oni in his power or dodging a really good huntress' hatchet feels really great as a survivor.
The issue is thinking up of a new killer's power that's fun but isn't recycled. They need to be both creative and innovative when they're coming to with new killers.
Can we also just take the novelty of having a trench coat wearing edgelord hit mach speed and aquire you? Like even when I get destroyed by a Wesker I have a good time cause it's never not funny for me.

I really, really dislike Spook, a lot. Obviously not personal life wise, but the stuff he puts out is absolute garbage, and then he pulls out the soapbox to stand on it and it makes me wanna minecraft myself. Bro face camps, not like the stupid, overused term that is used today, I mean legitimately stares into their souls, BM's and insidious camps every game I have seen him play, he does something most in this game, even other killers, would call topxic. And he has the gall to then preach about a bad community? It's people like him that made me quit, and my lifes been so much better without this game in it luckily. But hearing him say "just go to the next game" is hilarious considering if the game was played how he envisions it / enjoys it personally, it'd be every game, every game would be insidious basement, face camping and toxic behavior. The night I quit I had 7 games in a row where I was face camped, this was before reassurance, so I just had to sit there, watch myself die for free, and then spectate my friends for 15 mins. Must be one of the most miserable experiences in gaming I've ever had, and if a killer finds standing still staring at pixels fun, I think it says more about them honestly. It's just the energy of poking a bee's nest and resenting the bee's for stinging you. This game is pretty toxic, but of course he will encounter an insane amount, the way he plays WILL draw it out, from a lot of people, and I bet he enjoys it to be frank.
"Just go to the next game" is harder when you're trying to play with friends. Obviously don't go harass people, but complaining is understandable when you're stuck spectating a 30 minute 3-gen game when you died at minute 1... especially when it happens multiple rounds.
"Just go to the next game" also has limits. If every match you load into fucking sucks, "just going next" ain't gonna accomplish much. It's the main reason my friends just gave up and uninstalled the game.

Killer mains always say stupid crap like "You can't use sabo because it's toxic, you can't use dead hard because it's toxic, you can't gen rush" but they tunnel, slug, all that crap. Like Killer mains are the most hypocritical people I've ever met. I have a squad, me and 3 other players, we play to have fun, we do stupid builds and play like idiots. One of the squad members had a killer main join our discord and we played custom matches. All of us took turns playing killer, the original squad was having fun doing Michael myers with a stealth build, or funny bubba. Know what the killer main did? Played Artist with the best perks, the best addons, tunneled a player immediately, and slugged to get a 4k at 3 gens left. We kicked him out of our discord server, it's absolutely pathetic how killer mains play.

Yeah I don't always agree with that message. This isn't a game where just 1 in 10 are terrible. Lately, it's been more like 1 in 3 matches are terrible. It's quite possible to get multiple bad games in a row.
The problem with him is, he's structured his content around highlighting the worst in the community. So of course, he is going to see the worst of the worst interactions for his videos. That will OBVIOUSLY take a huge toll on someone. He needs to maybe slow down with that content and realise that the community really isn't THAT bad. It can be trash, but every game has those moments. I, for one, have been flamed and called the n-word in Overwatch far far FAR more than I have been in DBD.
I mean he has days of the week where he just facecamps and he makes compilations of salty survivors while basically trolling them and goading them into being angry, not surprised he gets angry and toxic responses since he's playing in an intentionally unfun way to generate salt content
I'd be cool with the developers taking a quarter off working on a new killer/surv/map and really focus on the broken things in the game. Get those out of the way, then give us new content. It won't happen, but I can wish.
It's been mentioned often, and I may be incorrect, but I believe they've said they won't do something like that, for some reason. Hopefully, they'll change their minds.
I don't think spooknjukes deserves all the hate he gets no, but I do think it's worth pointing out that his complaints about knight and skull merchant being unfun to play against because of playstyles ring sorta hollow when he deliberately plays in a way to ruin one person's game in particular on a regular basis. I agree you can go next, but I think it's also good to acknowledge that you're deliberately making someone's experience shitty. And not like, strategic camping or tunneling. I think we all know that people who complain about that have just literally never played killer and don't get it, there's such a huge difference between that and going out of your way to make someone have a bad time.
I think you're misunderstanding spooknjukes. He doesn't facecamp people because he wants specifically to ruin that player's game in particular like some obsessed weirdo, from what I understand he facecamps because he finds it funny when survivors run to crowd for rescues and that it's relaxing just guarding a hook compared to normal killer gameplay. Along with the memeiness of facecamping bubba. Hence why he wears the fishing hat when he does those days of facecamping. Is facecamping in the way he does it a dickish strat? Yeah, it's not very fun for the survivors, and is very boring for everyone imo. But his entire point is that people are entitled to use whatever strategies they want or find fun, and his view is that you are not responsible for every player's fun. You could call that view selfish but I think it is mostly correct. You cannot force players to play how the community deems nice and polite, and nor should you. Fully justified to critique him about his uninteractive playstyle that makes survivors' matches not very fun, but pretending he's some cartoon supervillain who goes into matches with the sole purpose of ruining someone's day is exactly what his video is warning people against. Not everything in DBD is a personal attack, and people jump way too quickly to "this player killed/camped/slugged/clicked at me because they hate ME and want ME to have a miserable game as their SOLE priority".

Despite it being "just a game" and him acting like its ridiculous that people get upset about him wasting their free time, he knows that going out of his way to troll and get a rise out of people is good for his channel so he keeps doing it
@@altarf2582 I don't think it's malicious on his part, to be clear - I probably phrased that poorly. I don't think he's *trying* to ruin someone's game, but whether he's trying or not, that's what he's doing. Nobody wants to spend time in queue for one of the few matches they can play a night and then get facecamped from first hook to death. I think a part of playing games that rely on having people as opponents is accepting that people are going to generally frown on certain playstyles. Like when a group of friends plays games together, but one friend goes unreasonably hard and ruins the experience for everyone. It's totally sensible that people wouldn't want to play with that person after a while. Everyone else has accepted the social contract, but that person has decided that their fun is more important than everyone else's. Everyone *can* use whatever playstyle they want, I agree. It's just a game! But nobody should be surprised if playing like an asshole means people don't want to play with you, or react poorly to the way you play. That is reasonable too. Most of us aren't making money from playing the game, and most of us don't have nearly the time to dedicate to it as he and many content creators do. So if some of our few nightly games are shit because someone decided to play in an uninteractive and boring way, it has a bigger impact for us.

The way people play (and the way behavior handle it) are ultimately what drove me away from the game. Every single match that I played in (no I'm not exaggerating and I have witnesses) I'd get tunneled and camped no matter the survivor I'd play, the killer, the rank, or the map. Even to the point of the killers losing on purpose just to camp my hook. I tried having fun in my own way but getting camped and tunneled every single game kills that VERY quickly. I started playing less when they nerfed d strike, cause that was the only perk allowing me to protect myself from being tunneled. And once they buffed all the killers I just stopped playing. The game might not be dying but it would much more alive if the game and the community were better

I would jokingly ask if I pissed off some content creator that I didn't know about and their fanbase would see me and target me. After a while it felt less like a joke. I even used to stream it and the same thing would happen
First of all. Like the person above you said. You're lying or just downright the most unlucky person ever. Second of all. Whenever killers camp me or tunnel me. I put myself in their shoes. 'Maybe nearly all the gens are finished. Maybe the survivor who unhooked me. Put me in a shit situation where the killer is just trying to capitalise on the mistake.' And I don't really know what you mean by buffed all killers. And nerf ds. It sounds like you're just mad you can't win at the game. And ds got a very fair nerf which stops survivors from abusing ds even when not being tunneled. Sounds more like a you problem my friend.

The skull merchant's drones need to have a super pruned-down but faster-moving version of the zombie ai where they 'search' the area they are in when they hit that spinning mode. It would give them new utility while eschewing the "3 gen forever" strat.
I feel like it's understated how much addressing camping and tunnelling would do to reduce toxicity in the game. The devs themselves called them unfun situations and noted that people mainly brought perks that mitigated or reduced that. Most people aren't great loopers who can turn a BT hit or OTR into a whole two minute chase. Having all agency and control taken away if camped, and never having a chance at all to take a breath and reset when tunnelled is just a massive cocktail for negative emotions, especially when you add on the Emblem system then yelling at you that you're garbage even if you did the best/right thing for your team. Combine this with BHVR's refusal to do the bare minimum to police the playerbase and remove opportunities for BM, and it's no wonder people leave games frustrated and pissed off. And unfortunately, a very large population of players treat that as a feature; that they're able to frustrate and abuse people and there's nothing they can do about it. I won't deny survivors are guilty of it too, but I mainly play survivor and it's rare for me to go even just two games in a row without someone being not just facecamped and hard tunneled, but BM on top of it. The kicker is that killers could certainly be strengthened if those were introduced. But gen kick, camping, and tunnelling against 99% of teams is so, so, so fucking easy and mindless, that if any changes happen to it whatsoever, Reddit/BHVR Forum killers would scream bloody murder. All I can think is designing some incredibly strong perks to incentivize people away from that before making core changes. I don't even feel like it would be that hard. Just more perks designed off M1s/vaulting/pallet breaks (helps weak killers, no benefit to strong killers), or something that build in strength off hooks and disable on a death. Combine that with some better anti-camping survivor perks (eg an exhaustion perk that gives like 10 seconds Endurance if healthy and 8m from a hooked survivor to guarantee trades even against insta-down killers), and you could simply incentivize the problem largely away.
True words! Tunneling is so effective that it can secure wins in comp gameplay. But in comp the survivors are usually pretty experienced on top of organised on top of very well fimiliar with tunneling. But also comp gameplay is a way of playing were fun is not the highest priority. Unfortunately every newbie can copy those "strats"(tunneling/camping) cause they are incredible easy and brainless. Now the survivor comp gameplay is basically impossible to copy unless you do have 3 dbd enthusiastic friends that are willing to study maps, practicing perfect communication and thinking about different plans. Meanwhile a single killer player: lets go for the easier target to achieve an easy 3v1 to achieve an easy win. (Idk why people aim for an easy win though because an easy win is meaningless) And yes it is deffinetly underrated how much tunneling and camping contributes to negative emotions frustration and toxicity. I had camping and tunneling killers telling me that they were just frustrated (either because of real life stuff or previous games) so they are using it to cope with bad emotions. That means I am ruining the game for others cause I am frustrated like wtf. People like that usually come up with the "let everyone play as they want" or "just move on to the next match lmao" statements. Well the first statement is literally just a double standard cause their very own playstile prevents others from playing as they want. The other statement is just a troll cause you can get a bad killer right after again. And to make up for being bad they use those "strats" . And lets just assume you play for one or two hours because you gotta do different things as well and you end up having only 3-4 camping/tunneling killers they literally wasted 50% + of your game time. I mean sure that pisses people off. And all the people saying it is just a game: Well yes exactly it is a game that you paid for and that you are investing time in because you wanna have fun. No clue why frustrating and unfun things are still in that game... But I have never really been a fan of perks as a band aid.... However you are probably right that that would be the easiest way of "fixing" it. But I am afraid that this is not gonna happen anytime soon . Actually at that point soo many people seem to rely on this stuff, bhvr is probably afraid of losing soooo many killer players if they would nerfe the easy/brainless way of killing survivor. Also survivors surely can be toxic but the most toxic thing would t-bagging but that doesnt affect the gameplay at all. Next up would be 4 bnps but that can only be done with an swf and even though it is bs, it only causes the game to be very quickly over (like a nurse match on midwitch) None of these things come close to camping/tunneling....
The reason people don't like Spook n' Jukes is because he does what people would perceive as negative and pretends as if he doesn't. He just does a great job of taking himself out of the bad lighting of that. So, if someone complains, they're made out to look bad.
That's my thing with him. His videos where he plays vs streamers trying to be as toxic as possible and then make shocked faces when people get mad is just dumb. Yeah, a lot of those people shouldn't be getting nearly as mad as they do, but he also seems to think that people getting annoyed at all is somehow ridiculous and they should all chill because "it's just a game bro." Yeah people shouldn't get so mad, but it's also understandable that people who want to just enjoy the game will get upset when someone is trying to ruin the game. Most people would get upset if they'd had a really rough day and go to relax by playing some games and get in a game with trolls or super sweaty/toxic players. And yeah, they can just quit or not play, but why is a content creator encouraging people to quit the game? Just seems really silly to me.
Yeah, that's my issue with him. When he decides to play in ways that aren't fun for survivors he's all "It's not fun, but it's in the game. Just deal with it." when people talk about wanting nerfs to those strategies, while complaining about Knight or Skull Merchant being unfun, how they shouldn't exist and are killing the game with the exact same energy. The double standard is just a massive turnoff. It's hard to respect his opinions when that opinion is "other people should just learn to deal with the things they don't find fun, but the developers should change the things I don't find fun."
People can't be faulted by a person who baits that behavior out of them. That's like putting a shiny worm on the line and laughing at a fish for biting it's hook.
I’ve played in a lobby with spooknjukes a couple of times and if things don’t go his way, he will die on hook intentionally or let someone die if they piss him off. As killer, he camps. Part of his content is interacting with end game chat and of course his shitty game style makes people toxic, so I dislike the guy and if you’re in a lobby with him I suggest you leave.
@@akdreamer6497 I went on his twitch and watched his replay right away. He was doing a stun the killer 3 times thing, the killer respected pallets and had lightborne so he gave up right away.
You might not even be able to find the vod anymore, he’s deleted some in the past. One of my friends went up against him while he was playing wraith. They thought a map offering to the updated eyrie cause they were tired of going to midwich, and he immediately threw a fit about swf squads bringing map offerings. Instantly decided to tunnel, camp, do whatever because he didn’t like their offering only. He got called out on twitter for it and couldn’t produce the vod, nor is there a link to it anymore.
The problem with Mr. Juke's philosophy of "I am not responsible for your fun" is that there is a difference between that and intentionally doing something that makes someone frustrated, and it just comes across as manipulative if you face camp someone in a dead zone and expect them not to be frustrated because "I'm not responsible for your fun". But maybe I'm wrong, and I'd like someone to correct me cause I really would like to know.

Criticism is one thing, but younger people make dumber mistakes. It shouldn't define your opinion of someone. People need to learn the difference between holding someone accountable and basically writing them off for saying something dumb, younger doesn't make you exempt but the younger you are, the more leeway you get as younger people have less developed brains.

I do think Spook deserves it. I used to really like him precisely because of what you don't think would happen at 25:36 does happen, he tunnels and camps, boo hoo but it gets someone mad and his response is to completely entertain it, he'll respond and encourage the chat that's watching him when they start insulting the player. He takes a ground of holiness while diving head first into exactly what he's shaming people for. Even if I've never seen Spooks initiate the toxicity, I do genuinely believe he doesn't combat it either. At the end of the day, even if you're being toxic I don't think that means you deserve to be shamed and insulted in front of a bunch of viewers while the streamer themselves claims themselves to be better.
Yes thats the exact impression I got of him as well. He is full of double standards. Like literally in this video we see him critisising and complaining about things he doesnt like (even though I am surprised he doesnt like to stall games for 30 min because I mean he likes basement bubba which usually doesnt take so long but is as boring). Now at the same time he labbles people that complain about his way of "playing" as "whining people". But he himself is whining in the whole video here about stuff he doesnt like. I think one huge thing that a lot of people forget with games like this, because of the anonimity afforded by the internet, is that the game is a collaberative experience. In order to play killer, you need survivors, and vica versa. Go Next is absolutely a valid view, and a valid strat after a bad game, but also playing in unfun ways is just like. It's not gonna make people want to play more? It's something that you see far more in actual face to face games, when you're not playing on a competitive level. The actual comparison I would use is EDH, a magic the gathering varient - it has it's own comp scene, where just going as hard as you can is not only accepted but expected, but then if you're not in that comp scene? You don't generally play awful! Because everyone came here to have fun, and to have a good time, and sitting down with people and then making it so they can't play, when you all just came to have fun, isn't nice. There is also the issue where people want to win all their games, when in reality you should be winning ~50% of them. If you come to a game expecting to win to have fun, you're not gonna have fun. If you come to a game to try out silly stuff, to play a killer you like, or even to just play to the best of your ability and see what you can do, then you're probs gonna have a better time!
My bestie Scott, I think the point about community was not that they exist but that they are far greater in numbers than you'd expect. Yes every game has a whiny side of community but the numbers in DBD are so great the point is brought in the first place and has been for a while. Most communities don't really talk about whiny side as they are not that numerous but DBD (regardless how it's in reality) feels like half is whiny or toxic or sth else negative.
In terms of gameplay attitude, we should aspire to be like Otz, who is like a positivity elemental these days. He manages to be chill in this game and he's *Spanish* - so anyone can do it.
Otz made several videos encouraging people to tunnel, after which point, people have been getting tunneled in nearly all of my matches for weeks. He also keeps bitching about Dead Hard. Otz is partially, if not directly, responsible for every brainrotted, miserable killer take and playstyle.

Saying tunneling is a must and adressing the "problem" which is still subjective even though he called it a problem (for someone like you that means tunneling isnt a problem provably, its just your opinion) he is adressing it, if you say "shooting school exists and its a way of killing most people in short amounts of time and we should stop it" its not encouraging school shooting. Your argument fails. Dont hit me with "its not the same" im not equating, Im comparing and its a perfect comparison, you saying something in those lines show you know nothing of logic. Next? Dont forget its 4 plus surv players vs 1 killer player, and the community is the same. @cudo2231 man, I swear dbd players have never played a fighting game in their life if a 30 frame super armor window is OP. Dead Hard is straight up the only reason I play survivor lmao. Skill checks aren't fun, but making the chase more interactive and having a defensive mix-up situation is a blast. And from that same angle, it adds more depth to the chase on the killer side bc now I have to guess the mix to get my down. I'd legit quit the game(or at least surv) and just focus on my fighting games if they killed DH. It def makes both sides more fun imo. But then again, the 1v1 aspect of chase is probably the only thing keeping me here in the first place lmao. I look at this game like it's a fighting game, but it's 4 defense vs 1 offense, the mind games are there, the defensive options are there, the offensive options are there, there's a bunch of advanced tech, it's different, but as you did with your example, it's a comparison, not equivalence.

In terms of the age of the average DBD player a point i'd like to bring up is that I'm rather young (soon to be 24) but I'm also almost the same age as most of the biggest creators on the game right now who have played since release. I'm sure there was a time where mostly children played DBD (or like realistically preteens and teens) but I think most of us have aged up over the years. I'd say most people who play DBD are likely young adults by now. Unless they only JUST got into the game with the resident evil chapters (which even then most resident evil fans are ALSO older)
Spookinjukes says the community is whiney as he proceeds to whine and complain about the community, the newest chapters, the killer powers, the DDosing that as far as I know is only a problem on steam and doesn't even effect him on PS. The game isn't dying and is actually in the best state it's been since I've been playing. The game is still flawed but it's the best, most balanced it's been. People just love to complain regardless.
I play on console so my post-game chat is done via direct messaging. A month ago someone messaged me after I got the 4k to tell me they were going to report me. I never respond to negative stuff so I ignored it. The next day I was banned from Xbox voice chat/messaging for "harassment" and racism for 5 days. Couldn't even party up with friends. I appealed and the ban was removed from my history with a copy/paste apology email from Microsoft, but only after the full time was already up. So yeah, not a big fan of the DBD player base.
I do think playstyle determines how much toxicity you get to some degree, because most of the comments I get are really wholesome. I mean I'm sure part of it is that I'm on console, and it's a lot harder to type a message out on a controller. But I think I've had a total of... maybe 6 toxic messages. With only one of those being REALLY "KYS" bad. And one poor survivor I tunneled most of the game and killed them because I thought they had object of obsession... they did not. It was my own perk that showed them the aura, and we actually had a laugh about it. But they weren't upset at all. They just wondered what they had done. I've even had killers who are like "Hey man, sorry didn't mean to kill you. I thought I had only hooked you twice. Please forgive me." (They messaged me first, but I told them it was all good and that I just wanted out of the game anyway.) And I'm also sure part of it is that I'm not a streamer, so they don't really care to try to get under my skin cause they can't see it. But that's the majority of the playerbase anyway. 99% of the time my messages are "GG" or "GGWP" maybe a "Thank you!"
Just like you two I dont see much toxicity myself. Maybe it's because I usually just end with a GG and move on. I have of course seen it before in like 3k hours, but I would say it's almost as common for me to meet somebody "toxic" (flaming in endgame chat) and then after asking them why they're irritated, I actually end up talking them down. Sometimes, mot all the time, these frustrated people need an ear to listen to them, not a mouth telling them to "just get over it."

In order for something to be toxic, gameplay wise, I think it requires something dickish that actually doesn’t benefit them. Tunneling would mean you don’t even take obvious shots at someone else, slugging and just letting everyone else escape.
Honestly if they wanted to revive DBD they could release new gamemodes. Like how about a gamemode that is like survivors hunt the killer, and the killer has to stealth kill them and they keep evolving? Or how about letting the community create maps and do community servers? Or a gamemode where is just like an oiled up twerk battle in between all the naked-oiled up, buldged up killers? that would be cool
3:50 You say this but there was a guy in the steam forums a few months back that would constantly shit talk people and brag. Followed his ttv username and found a library of vods, hours upon hours, of him bodyblocking very obviously new survivors until they DCed. Sometimes, the type of people who would hack, cheat, or otherwise break the rules of a video game are exactly the same type of people who publicize and promote themselves doing that, either not understanding why it would make them a pariah, or just to troll for negative attention. To be fair, he 100% got banned.
I very much agree with maintaining the "it's just a game" or "it's just one game" mentality when it comes to unfun playstyles such as camping, tunneling, slugging, etc. But I gotta say, it's a real big bummer as a casual player with a day job when I only have time for a game or two after work and that's the type of match I load into. Maybe that's a reason why the player base skews younger-- DBD is not always a safe "let off some steam after work" kind of game.

SpooknJukes used to dedicate an entire day, every week, to basement Bubba. He then posts videos about salty survivors, knowing full well that his actions would rile them up. He goes out of his way to make those matches unfun. So yeah, not a fan of him.
I would love if they would add like a sliding mechanic or bring back the vaulting while falling was a really neat mechanic and fun too and instead of removing the locker flashlight saves entirely they could've added like a 15 second cooldown with the entitiy blinding the killers eyes with some smoke particles or something indicating that the killer can't be blinded for the next 15 seconds after that they would vanish and you could blind the Killer again or make it just only so if the killer is carrying a survivor and he gets blinded he can't get chain blinded the particles would also only be visible for the survivors to indicate that they can't be blinded. It would be a copy and paste particle emitter placed at eye height for every killer individually wouldn't take too long to implement if done right.
4:00 Yeah, I had a cheating Survivor in one of my games who was streaming to around five hundred people at the time. Twitch did nothing and he had unlimited DbD accounts. Even had a "Number of times I've been banned from DbD" counter. It was sitting at 83 when I had dropped by the stream after leaving the in-game lobby. This was a bit before the massive cheater crack down by bEhavior though so I'm not sure if you can get away with that sort of thing now. If they fixed the camping and tunneling problem a lot of the toxicity would go away I think, but u will still have some ppl complain. The game just has so many things to complain about. From bad hit boxes to camping and tunneling to gen rushing. The game rewards play styles that take no skill to use. Me and my friends play but if 1 of us get camped or tunneled repeatedly we just play a different game, cause we’re not having fun, and that’s the devs fault.
Have you seen the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game release date trailer? It actually looks really good and I haven't seen its gritty down to earth tone in many other games in the genre. Plus it's from the creators of the closest thing DBD had to a competitor, Friday the 13th.
I'm not gonna lie, another frustrating part to Skull Merchant at least for me, been learning how to even interact with her power. There's so many different special bits that it feels like reading a college essay and none of it is at all intuitive to learn in-game from a survivor's perspective. Even for Knight, his guards all have their one specialty and nothing much special otherwise, you just have to remember what each one does.
I've always thought, and still do think, that the DBD community is one of the best out there. And it's not necessarily good, but if we're talking in relative terms to other games, it's definitely way the hell up there. Main issue is entitlement, not toxicity (though that exists.)
I'm always baffled when people say it's the worst game community out there. I know it's almost a cliche at this point, but man... MW2 lobbies on Xbox make the degree of toxicity and aggression in DBD look incredibly tame. This game doesn't even have comms... how can people think it's that bad?

From all games I regulary play DbD is definitly one of the worst. Ive never seen so many cases of people taking Screenshots and stuff to shame other players on social Media and stuff. Yeah I mean you get shit talked a lot in games like CoD but most of the time its only in voice Chat and thats it. (And the games I play or played regulary are: CoD, Halo, Hunt, Rainbow 6 Siege, For Honor, Titanfall, Apex, The Elder Scrolls online and more)
I think a better predator ability for skull merchant would have been a long cooldown vision toggle, one infrared one motion tracking then you have your 50/50 run or hide.

8:10 you can have anti-loop without making it legit 0 interaction. Dredge has a solid anti loop power, but You can still mind game it A second survivor can quickly tag the remnant and run If you really don't feel confident you can still hold W There's 3 different options for the survivor and all 3 have answers for the killer to respond with.
Also, if the survivor does just hold W and not look back, Dredge can use his mobility to either get ahead of them (which is also mind-gameable) or break off a chase and quickly start antoher, which reduces the boring part of playing killer (which, at least for me, is walking around looking for survivors and catching up to them)
I'm currently in college for my bachelor's in game design, and it's sad seeing a development team limiting player choice in a competitive, asymmetrical game. Gameplay is supposed to be fun, and present different player choices, and that would most likely help fix some of the toxicity in the community. Players are mad, and so they take it out on other players because if they take it out on the devs, they could be reprimanded (seen it happen). The devs really need to start taking a look at the game as a whole, see what's fun and what isn't, even through player reviews, and adjust accordingly. The player base can be saved only if the devs save their game first.
I don't agree with the 'go next mentality', it doesn't apply since most killers play the same way, before eruption nerf everyone ran eruption so there is no ''go next'' for certain things like camping/tunneling, not mention spooky camps which is arguably the most boring way to play dbd but to each their own and I think that was the point of the original video and that I can agree with

BHVR could make the game completely flawless. No bugs, no glitches, game is secured tighter then fort Knox, game balance is perfect, banger chapters being released back to back to back, the whole shabang. Someone will still complain about something
the "x game is dying" topic is dumb. i play fighitng games with 200 players and thats considered alive and well. no game will ever die unless the devs delete it from exsistence.
Instead of having Zoning and 3Gen Killers they could also try an entirely new approach of new Killers who switch up the game mode a bit slenderman would be really interesting with collecting the notes in order to escape the trial or something like that. His special ability would be that he can teleport within the range of a survivor of x meters kind of like onryo with the TV's but no TV needed just straight up teleportation the survivor gets an indication that slenderman is nearby with a TV noise happening and the longer you stalk the survivor while they are looking away the faster you get up to a max. speed so eventually you'll end up having a very fast slenderman being able to catch up to you and it would be more "listen and look" than just zoning and 3 genning since he can teleport towards you. the range would be closer and closer to the survivor per Note collected to make it more intense so he would be more of an Endgame Killer instead of being strong in early hope this idea is cool or not just let me know what you think of it
I can summarize my Skull Merchant experiences like this: 1) place drones on 3 gens from the beginning of the game 2) do nothing, don't chase anyone, just stay there in those 3 gens 3) let survivors do all the other gens 4) win doing absolutely nothing. Basically BHVR buffed camping on another level.
The point he made at the end about shaming people on your stream or whatever for how they played or what they said is literally how he made his entire career. He blew up because he farmed toxic reactions by camping and tunneling. He really just seems like a huge hypocrite when it comes to this issue

I think per capita, dbd has a more toxic community than other games. I've been in a lot of communities and the average player being this bad is not normal. The only games that I can think of that are worse are old valve games and league. I think multiplayer horror games tend to attract more negative people on average, but also, DBD has been a pretty bad game for pretty long periods of time and the devs have been consistently negligent in fixing some core parts of the gameplay. Think back to dbds history and tell me how many times there wasn't something in the game that made you feel like shit. Almost never. No wonder the community is so whiny. The funny thing is that spookn loves baiting this disdain out of people. He doesn't abuse the least interactive parts of the game because it's fun- he does it because he'd have no content if he weren't trying to piss people off.
So problem 1 was hackers. Problem 2 was not liking the style of play people use on a killer but balming behaviour. i feel like there is a difference between a killer power that has anti-loop compared to loop denial. anti loop powers are the type that can allow you to potentially end a chase at a loop faster if used with enough skil. loop denial is when a killer just uses there power at a loop and the power is designed in such a way that the survivor has no choice but to instantly leave the loop or face a guaranteed injury and or down. now there are some unexpected killers that can fall into the loop denial category like trapper for instance because he can place a trap down correctly mid chase and make the loop unusable but what makes it not so annoying / op is that his traps are limited so you can just run away from 1 or 2 loops and then he has no chase potential anymore as opposed to any of the other loop denial killers that have a cooldown on loop denial potential whcih makes it so they can do it at any loop possible with little to no skill
You are better off breaking the pallet then using that power they will get the same distance either way and at least the pallet is gone then.
@@spencerbowden2979 depends on exactly which killer it is some killers lose significantly more distance than others for missing or just generally misusing their power and could probably let you get to another loop before the power cools down for example if a pyramid head misses a hit you might be able to get to another loop depending on how far it is but a lot of the time it's best to just stay at the loop and continue dodging untill the killer decides to kick where as the killers that just set down something that makes the loop impossible to use don't really need to kick the pallet and instead just need to continue following the survivor which is what is likely to lead them towards a hit

I think what makes trapper different is that usually placing a trap mid-loop is a bad idea, so people arent going to do it nearly as often.

spooks will stop at nothing to perpetuate the "stop whining its a video game" repertoire to sound mature in all his videos and streams, but any person with a inkling of emotional intelligence will pick up on the cognitive dissonance when he gets shit on by a player who is not interested in winning or losing the game. They're just there with the sole purpose of wanting to ruin your day. Yeah, who would have thought? Strip a hacker/cheater of being able to cheat, you're still getting the same person with the same animosity. I don't think it's his attitude towards people that dislike him that's the problem. I think my issue with Spooks is that it's difficult to believe he's sincerely concerned about people's fun or enjoyment of the game when he chooses to unapologetically play in a way that makes the game not fun for the other side. Obviously it's one match and you move on to the next one, but he still made a choice to make that match not fun for the other people.
So when he's like "Oh the Skull Merchant just 3 gens and the Knight just makes you leave the loop and that's not fun." Ok. People have been telling him that getting face camped isn't fun and his response is basically "yeah you're right lol." Would he accept that answer from a 3 genning Knight? Obviously not if he's dedicated three minutes of his video to talk about how much he hates it. It's pretty hypocritical. Why is *his* universally hated strategy all fun and games but the other ones aren't? Because those are the ones he personally doesn't like?
And the answer is obviously that none of them are fun, but that's why I don't really believe that he cares about the community that much or that his concerns over people having fun are genuine. He has no problem ruining a match for one or two survivors if it's fun to him, but it's another story when he's on the receiving end of something he doesn't like. Then, apparently, it's not just one match and he can't just move on to the next one.

Spooks stance is you aren't responsible for other peoples fun. The difference is the consensus of the community is pretty unanimous that the SM and Knight are busts (I happen to actually enjoy the Knight but it does seem to be the general sentiment.) So it's not really hypocritical to play basement Bubba but say the last two chapters have been boring flops.

Yeah, surely it's the new killers that hardly anyone plays making the game so unfun, not the strategy of making sure that one person spends most of the game sitting on a hook that any killer can choose to use. Like, I can honestly respect the opinion of "It's in the game. Just deal with it." but it kind of comes with the assumption that that person also doesn't complain about things in the game that they don't find fun either.
The issue I have with this streamer is that he says people are whiny and he plays in a spiteful way or in a way intentionally trying to get a rise out of gamers, and then pikachu faces when people are upset they’ve wasted 15 minutes of their time each game. That time adds up, and grown ass adults don’t want to join a game for fun and sit for 4minutes on the ground after their teammate got tunneled out at 5 gens in solo q.
8:10 Good mobility killers or killers with a special attack that doesn't outright lock down a loop (think Demo/Wesker versus Artist) avoid both these problems. Don't know how the devs still haven't caught onto the fact that playing loops is fun
I would also posit that Oni and Huntress are both well designed killers, they both have counter play in chase but also have a degree of skill expression where you feel rewarded for getting good with them. Outplaying an Oni in his power or dodging a really good huntress' hatchet feels really great as a survivor.
The issue is thinking up of a new killer's power that's fun but isn't recycled. They need to be both creative and innovative when they're coming to with new killers.

I really, really dislike Spook, a lot. Obviously not personal life wise, but the stuff he puts out is absolute garbage, and then he pulls out the soapbox to stand on it and it makes me wanna minecraft myself.
Bro face camps, not like the stupid, overused term that is used today, I mean legitimately stares into their souls, BM's and insidious camps every game I have seen him play, he does something most in this game, even other killers, would call topxic. And he has the gall to then preach about a bad community?
It's people like him that made me quit, and my lifes been so much better without this game in it luckily. But hearing him say "just go to the next game" is hilarious considering if the game was played how he envisions it / enjoys it personally, it'd be every game, every game would be insidious basement, face camping and toxic behavior. The night I quit I had 7 games in a row where I was face camped, this was before reassurance, so I just had to sit there, watch myself die for free, and then spectate my friends for 15 mins. Must be one of the most miserable experiences in gaming I've ever had, and if a killer finds standing still staring at pixels fun, I think it says more about them honestly.
It's just the energy of poking a bee's nest and resenting the bee's for stinging you. This game is pretty toxic, but of course he will encounter an insane amount, the way he plays WILL draw it out, from a lot of people, and I bet he enjoys it to be frank.
"Just go to the next game" is harder when you're trying to play with friends. Obviously don't go harass people, but complaining is understandable when you're stuck spectating a 30 minute 3-gen game when you died at minute 1... especially when it happens multiple rounds.
Or get a game where the killer will let you bleed out when they can easily end the game.
"Just go to the next game" also has limits. If every match you load into fucking sucks, "just going next" ain't gonna accomplish much. It's the main reason my friends just gave up and uninstalled the game.

I have a squad, me and 3 other players, we play to have fun, we do stupid builds and play like idiots. One of the squad members had a killer main join our discord and we played custom matches. All of us took turns playing killer, the original squad was having fun doing Michael myers with a stealth build, or funny bubba. Know what the killer main did? Played Artist with the best perks, the best addons, tunneled a player immediately, and slugged to get a 4k at 3 gens left.
We kicked him out of our discord server, it's absolutely pathetic how killer mains play.

Yeah I don't always agree with that message. This isn't a game where just 1 in 10 are terrible. Lately, it's been more like 1 in 3 matches are terrible. It's quite possible to get multiple bad games in a row.
The problem with him is, he's structured his content around highlighting the worst in the community. So of course, he is going to see the worst of the worst interactions for his videos. That will OBVIOUSLY take a huge toll on someone. He needs to maybe slow down with that content and realise that the community really isn't THAT bad. It can be trash, but every game has those moments.
I, for one, have been flamed and called the n-word in Overwatch far far FAR more than I have been in DBD.
I mean he has days of the week where he just facecamps and he makes compilations of salty survivors while basically trolling them and goading them into being angry, not surprised he gets angry and toxic responses since he's playing in an intentionally unfun way to generate salt content
I'd be cool with the developers taking a quarter off working on a new killer/surv/map and really focus on the broken things in the game. Get those out of the way, then give us new content. It won't happen, but I can wish.

I don't think spooknjukes deserves all the hate he gets no, but I do think it's worth pointing out that his complaints about knight and skull merchant being unfun to play against because of playstyles ring sorta hollow when he deliberately plays in a way to ruin one person's game in particular on a regular basis. I agree you can go next, but I think it's also good to acknowledge that you're deliberately making someone's experience shitty. And not like, strategic camping or tunneling. I think we all know that people who complain about that have just literally never played killer and don't get it, there's such a huge difference between that and going out of your way to make someone have a bad time.
I think you're misunderstanding spooknjukes. He doesn't facecamp people because he wants specifically to ruin that player's game in particular like some obsessed weirdo, from what I understand he facecamps because he finds it funny when survivors run to crowd for rescues and that it's relaxing just guarding a hook compared to normal killer gameplay. Along with the memeiness of facecamping bubba. Hence why he wears the fishing hat when he does those days of facecamping.
Is facecamping in the way he does it a dickish strat? Yeah, it's not very fun for the survivors, and is very boring for everyone imo. But his entire point is that people are entitled to use whatever strategies they want or find fun, and his view is that you are not responsible for every player's fun. You could call that view selfish but I think it is mostly correct. You cannot force players to play how the community deems nice and polite, and nor should you.
Fully justified to critique him about his uninteractive playstyle that makes survivors' matches not very fun, but pretending he's some cartoon supervillain who goes into matches with the sole purpose of ruining someone's day is exactly what his video is warning people against. Not everything in DBD is a personal attack, and people jump way too quickly to "this player killed/camped/slugged/clicked at me because they hate ME and want ME to have a miserable game as their SOLE priority".

I don't think he's *trying* to ruin someone's game, but whether he's trying or not, that's what he's doing. Nobody wants to spend time in queue for one of the few matches they can play a night and then get facecamped from first hook to death.
I think a part of playing games that rely on having people as opponents is accepting that people are going to generally frown on certain playstyles. Like when a group of friends plays games together, but one friend goes unreasonably hard and ruins the experience for everyone. It's totally sensible that people wouldn't want to play with that person after a while. Everyone else has accepted the social contract, but that person has decided that their fun is more important than everyone else's.
Everyone *can* use whatever playstyle they want, I agree. It's just a game! But nobody should be surprised if playing like an asshole means people don't want to play with you, or react poorly to the way you play. That is reasonable too. Most of us aren't making money from playing the game, and most of us don't have nearly the time to dedicate to it as he and many content creators do. So if some of our few nightly games are shit because someone decided to play in an uninteractive and boring way, it has a bigger impact for us.

The way people play (and the way behavior handle it) are ultimately what drove me away from the game. Every single match that I played in (no I'm not exaggerating and I have witnesses) I'd get tunneled and camped no matter the survivor I'd play, the killer, the rank, or the map. Even to the point of the killers losing on purpose just to camp my hook. I tried having fun in my own way but getting camped and tunneled every single game kills that VERY quickly. I started playing less when they nerfed d strike, cause that was the only perk allowing me to protect myself from being tunneled. And once they buffed all the killers I just stopped playing. The game might not be dying but it would much more alive if the game and the community were better

I feel like it's understated how much addressing camping and tunnelling would do to reduce toxicity in the game. The devs themselves called them unfun situations and noted that people mainly brought perks that mitigated or reduced that. Most people aren't great loopers who can turn a BT hit or OTR into a whole two minute chase. Having all agency and control taken away if camped, and never having a chance at all to take a breath and reset when tunnelled is just a massive cocktail for negative emotions, especially when you add on the Emblem system then yelling at you that you're garbage even if you did the best/right thing for your team.
Combine this with BHVR's refusal to do the bare minimum to police the playerbase and remove opportunities for BM, and it's no wonder people leave games frustrated and pissed off. And unfortunately, a very large population of players treat that as a feature; that they're able to frustrate and abuse people and there's nothing they can do about it. I won't deny survivors are guilty of it too, but I mainly play survivor and it's rare for me to go even just two games in a row without someone being not just facecamped and hard tunneled, but BM on top of it.
The kicker is that killers could certainly be strengthened if those were introduced. But gen kick, camping, and tunnelling against 99% of teams is so, so, so fucking easy and mindless, that if any changes happen to it whatsoever, Reddit/BHVR Forum killers would scream bloody murder. All I can think is designing some incredibly strong perks to incentivize people away from that before making core changes. I don't even feel like it would be that hard. Just more perks designed off M1s/vaulting/pallet breaks (helps weak killers, no benefit to strong killers), or something that build in strength off hooks and disable on a death. Combine that with some better anti-camping survivor perks (eg an exhaustion perk that gives like 10 seconds Endurance if healthy and 8m from a hooked survivor to guarantee trades even against insta-down killers), and you could simply incentivize the problem largely away.

Tunneling is so effective that it can secure wins in comp gameplay.
But in comp the survivors are usually pretty experienced on top of organised on top of very well fimiliar with tunneling. But also comp gameplay is a way of playing were fun is not the highest priority.
Unfortunately every newbie can copy those "strats"(tunneling/camping) cause they are incredible easy and brainless.
Now the survivor comp gameplay is basically impossible to copy unless you do have 3 dbd enthusiastic friends that are willing to study maps, practicing perfect communication and thinking about different plans.
Meanwhile a single killer player: lets go for the easier target to achieve an easy 3v1 to achieve an easy win. (Idk why people aim for an easy win though because an easy win is meaningless)
And yes it is deffinetly underrated how much tunneling and camping contributes to negative emotions frustration and toxicity.
I had camping and tunneling killers telling me that they were just frustrated (either because of real life stuff or previous games) so they are using it to cope with bad emotions. That means I am ruining the game for others cause I am frustrated like wtf.
People like that usually come up with the "let everyone play as they want" or "just move on to the next match lmao" statements.
Well the first statement is literally just a double standard cause their very own playstile prevents others from playing as they want.
The other statement is just a troll cause you can get a bad killer right after again. And to make up for being bad they use those "strats" .

The reason people don't like Spook n' Jukes is because he does what people would perceive as negative and pretends as if he doesn't. He just does a great job of taking himself out of the bad lighting of that. So, if someone complains, they're made out to look bad.
That's my thing with him. His videos where he plays vs streamers trying to be as toxic as possible and then make shocked faces when people get mad is just dumb. Yeah, a lot of those people shouldn't be getting nearly as mad as they do, but he also seems to think that people getting annoyed at all is somehow ridiculous and they should all chill because "it's just a game bro." Yeah people shouldn't get so mad, but it's also understandable that people who want to just enjoy the game will get upset when someone is trying to ruin the game. Most people would get upset if they'd had a really rough day and go to relax by playing some games and get in a game with trolls or super sweaty/toxic players. And yeah, they can just quit or not play, but why is a content creator encouraging people to quit the game? Just seems really silly to me.
Yeah, that's my issue with him. When he decides to play in ways that aren't fun for survivors he's all "It's not fun, but it's in the game. Just deal with it." when people talk about wanting nerfs to those strategies, while complaining about Knight or Skull Merchant being unfun, how they shouldn't exist and are killing the game with the exact same energy. The double standard is just a massive turnoff. It's hard to respect his opinions when that opinion is "other people should just learn to deal with the things they don't find fun, but the developers should change the things I don't find fun."

I’ve played in a lobby with spooknjukes a couple of times and if things don’t go his way, he will die on hook intentionally or let someone die if they piss him off. As killer, he camps. Part of his content is interacting with end game chat and of course his shitty game style makes people toxic, so I dislike the guy and if you’re in a lobby with him I suggest you leave.

You might not even be able to find the vod anymore, he’s deleted some in the past. One of my friends went up against him while he was playing wraith. They thought a map offering to the updated eyrie cause they were tired of going to midwich, and he immediately threw a fit about swf squads bringing map offerings. Instantly decided to tunnel, camp, do whatever because he didn’t like their offering only. He got called out on twitter for it and couldn’t produce the vod, nor is there a link to it anymore.
I don't perceive the community as toxic I think mostly cause I don't use Twitter, or any social media.
I think what spook n jukes is getting at with the community is that the personal angle seems to be the go to for most mad players.

The problem with Mr. Juke's philosophy of "I am not responsible for your fun" is that there is a difference between that and intentionally doing something that makes someone frustrated, and it just comes across as manipulative if you face camp someone in a dead zone and expect them not to be frustrated because "I'm not responsible for your fun". But maybe I'm wrong, and I'd like someone to correct me cause I really would like to know.

I do think Spook deserves it. I used to really like him precisely because of what you don't think would happen at 25:36 does happen, he tunnels and camps, boo hoo but it gets someone mad and his response is to completely entertain it, he'll respond and encourage the chat that's watching him when they start insulting the player. He takes a ground of holiness while diving head first into exactly what he's shaming people for. Even if I've never seen Spooks initiate the toxicity, I do genuinely believe he doesn't combat it either.
At the end of the day, even if you're being toxic I don't think that means you deserve to be shamed and insulted in front of a bunch of viewers while the streamer themselves claims themselves to be better.

Like literally in this video we see him critisising and complaining about things he doesnt like (even though I am surprised he doesnt like to stall games for 30 min because I mean he likes basement bubba which usually doesnt take so long but is as boring). I think one huge thing that a lot of people forget with games like this, because of the anonimity afforded by the internet, is that the game is a collaberative experience. In order to play killer, you need survivors, and vica versa. Go Next is absolutely a valid view, and a valid strat after a bad game, but also playing in unfun ways is just like. It's not gonna make people want to play more?
It's something that you see far more in actual face to face games, when you're not playing on a competitive level. The actual comparison I would use is EDH, a magic the gathering varient - it has it's own comp scene, where just going as hard as you can is not only accepted but expected, but then if you're not in that comp scene? You don't generally play awful! Because everyone came here to have fun, and to have a good time, and sitting down with people and then making it so they can't play, when you all just came to have fun, isn't nice.
There is also the issue where people want to win all their games, when in reality you should be winning ~50% of them. If you come to a game expecting to win to have fun, you're not gonna have fun. If you come to a game to try out silly stuff, to play a killer you like, or even to just play to the best of your ability and see what you can do, then you're probs gonna have a better time!
My bestie Scott, I think the point about community was not that they exist but that they are far greater in numbers than you'd expect. Yes every game has a whiny side of community but the numbers in DBD are so great the point is brought in the first place and has been for a while. Most communities don't really talk about whiny side as they are not that numerous but DBD (regardless how it's in reality) feels like half is whiny or toxic or sth else negative.
In terms of gameplay attitude, we should aspire to be like Otz, who is like a positivity elemental these days. He manages to be chill in this game and he's *Spanish* - so anyone can do it.
Otz made several videos encouraging people to tunnel, after which point, people have been getting tunneled in nearly all of my matches for weeks. He also keeps bitching about Dead Hard. Otz is partially, if not directly, responsible for every brainrotted, miserable killer take and playstyle.

Dead Hard is straight up the only reason I play survivor lmao. Skill checks aren't fun, but making the chase more interactive and having a defensive mix-up situation is a blast.
And from that same angle, it adds more depth to the chase on the killer side bc now I have to guess the mix to get my down.
I'd legit quit the game(or at least surv) and just focus on my fighting games if they killed DH. It def makes both sides more fun imo. But then again, the 1v1 aspect of chase is probably the only thing keeping me here in the first place lmao. I look at this game like it's a fighting game, but it's 4 defense vs 1 offense, the mind games are there, the defensive options are there, the offensive options are there, there's a bunch of advanced tech, it's different, but as you did with your example, it's a comparison, not equivalence.

In terms of the age of the average DBD player a point i'd like to bring up is that I'm rather young (soon to be 24) but I'm also almost the same age as most of the biggest creators on the game right now who have played since release. I'm sure there was a time where mostly children played DBD (or like realistically preteens and teens) but I think most of us have aged up over the years. I'd say most people who play DBD are likely young adults by now. Unless they only JUST got into the game with the resident evil chapters (which even then most resident evil fans are ALSO older)

Spookinjukes says the community is whiney as he proceeds to whine and complain about the community, the newest chapters, the killer powers, the DDosing that as far as I know is only a problem on steam and doesn't even effect him on PS. The game isn't dying and is actually in the best state it's been since I've been playing. The game is still flawed but it's the best, most balanced it's been. People just love to complain regardless.
I play on console so my post-game chat is done via direct messaging. A month ago someone messaged me after I got the 4k to tell me they were going to report me. I never respond to negative stuff so I ignored it. The next day I was banned from Xbox voice chat/messaging for "harassment" and racism for 5 days. Couldn't even party up with friends. I appealed and the ban was removed from my history with a copy/paste apology email from Microsoft, but only after the full time was already up.
So yeah, not a big fan of the DBD player base.

I do think playstyle determines how much toxicity you get to some degree, because most of the comments I get are really wholesome. I mean I'm sure part of it is that I'm on console, and it's a lot harder to type a message out on a controller. But I think I've had a total of... maybe 6 toxic messages. With only one of those being REALLY "KYS" bad. And one poor survivor I tunneled most of the game and killed them because I thought they had object of obsession... they did not. It was my own perk that showed them the aura, and we actually had a laugh about it. But they weren't upset at all. They just wondered what they had done. I've even had killers who are like "Hey man, sorry didn't mean to kill you. I thought I had only hooked you twice. Please forgive me." (They messaged me first, but I told them it was all good and that I just wanted out of the game anyway.) And I'm also sure part of it is that I'm not a streamer, so they don't really care to try to get under my skin cause they can't see it. But that's the majority of the playerbase anyway. 99% of the time my messages are "GG" or "GGWP" maybe a "Thank you!"
Same! I'm on a PC and I play survivor. I rarely see terrible messages on either side in endgame chat. Maybe a handful total after playing for a year.
Just like you two I dont see much toxicity myself. Maybe it's because I usually just end with a GG and move on.
I have of course seen it before in like 3k hours, but I would say it's almost as common for me to meet somebody "toxic" (flaming in endgame chat) and then after asking them why they're irritated, I actually end up talking them down.
Sometimes, mot all the time, these frustrated people need an ear to listen to them, not a mouth telling them to "just get over it."

In order for something to be toxic, gameplay wise, I think it requires something dickish that actually doesn’t benefit them. Tunneling would mean you don’t even take obvious shots at someone else, slugging and just letting everyone else escape.

I very much agree with maintaining the "it's just a game" or "it's just one game" mentality when it comes to unfun playstyles such as camping, tunneling, slugging, etc. But I gotta say, it's a real big bummer as a casual player with a day job when I only have time for a game or two after work and that's the type of match I load into. Maybe that's a reason why the player base skews younger-- DBD is not always a safe "let off some steam after work" kind of game.

I would love if they would add like a sliding mechanic or bring back the vaulting while falling was a really neat mechanic and fun too
and instead of removing the locker flashlight saves entirely they could've added like a 15 second cooldown with the entitiy blinding the killers eyes with some smoke particles or something
indicating that the killer can't be blinded for the next 15 seconds after that they would vanish and you could blind the Killer again or make it just only so if the killer is carrying a survivor and he gets blinded he can't get chain blinded the particles would also only be visible for the survivors to indicate that they can't be blinded.
It would be a copy and paste particle emitter placed at eye height for every killer individually wouldn't take too long to implement if done right.
4:00 Yeah, I had a cheating Survivor in one of my games who was streaming to around five hundred people at the time. Twitch did nothing and he had unlimited DbD accounts. Even had a "Number of times I've been banned from DbD" counter. It was sitting at 83 when I had dropped by the stream after leaving the in-game lobby. This was a bit before the massive cheater crack down by bEhavior though so I'm not sure if you can get away with that sort of thing now. I reported him and made a forum post linking the twitch account and I think the post got taken down because of that link but I don't remember and don't feel like fighting the DbD forums to check my post history at the moment.
With how much you love Wesker Scott I'd say you should marry him but I think even the shortest civil marriage would take longer than seven minutes and even if not then the marriage would be short.

If I'm Survivor and the Killer camps first hook they are not playing the game and I am not allowed to interact with them and no trying for the save against a camper is not really playing the game. If I get one chase and then get camped I've not been allowed to really play the game because the Killer player wants to be a dickhead and ruin one person's match. Playing around a camper is not fun, you just do gens, don't get chased and now every so often you run to the hook to hit Reassurance and then back to gens and finally the gates. I wish more player knew how to properly combat camping and people would stop camping because it _stops working_ but there will always be hook vultures and newbies who just don't know what to do.

As Survivor I'll complain about my team getting steamrolled at five gens because we were totally out classed but again I won't _bitch_ about it if the Killer didn't camp and we legit just did not have the looping skills and there was nine or ten or eleven or somehow the mystical _twelve_ hooks because we _actually got to play the game_! We didn't stand a chance of winning but we got to play! I won't even care if it's against meta build gen kick Alch Compound Blight I _got to play the game_ instead of just sitting on three gens all game while the Killer stared into the eyes of the poor sap on the first hook.
When a Basement Bubba camps someone then no one but the Leatherface gets to play and that's not fun.

If they fixed the camping and tunneling problem a lot of the toxicity would go away I think, but u will still have some ppl complain. The game just has so many things to complain about. From bad hit boxes to camping and tunneling to gen rushing. The game rewards play styles that take no skill to use. Me and my friends play but if 1 of us get camped or tunneled repeatedly we just play a different game, cause we’re not having fun, and that’s the devs fault.
Have you seen the Texas Chainsaw Massacre game release date trailer? It actually looks really good and I haven't seen its gritty down to earth tone in many other games in the genre. Plus it's from the creators of the closest thing DBD had to a competitor, Friday the 13th.
I'm not gonna lie, another frustrating part to Skull Merchant at least for me, been learning how to even interact with her power. There's so many different special bits that it feels like reading a college essay and none of it is at all intuitive to learn in-game from a survivor's perspective. Even for Knight, his guards all have their one specialty and nothing much special otherwise, you just have to remember what each one does.
I've always thought, and still do think, that the DBD community is one of the best out there. And it's not necessarily good, but if we're talking in relative terms to other games, it's definitely way the hell up there. Main issue is entitlement, not toxicity (though that exists.)
I'm always baffled when people say it's the worst game community out there. I know it's almost a cliche at this point, but man... MW2 lobbies on Xbox make the degree of toxicity and aggression in DBD look incredibly tame. This game doesn't even have comms... how can people think it's that bad?

I think a better predator ability for skull merchant would have been a long cooldown vision toggle, one infrared one motion tracking then you have your 50/50 run or hide.

There's 3 different options for the survivor and all 3 have answers for the killer to respond with.
Also, if the survivor does just hold W and not look back, Dredge can use his mobility to either get ahead of them (which is also mind-gameable) or break off a chase and quickly start antoher, which reduces the boring part of playing killer (which, at least for me, is walking around looking for survivors and catching up to them)
I'm currently in college for my bachelor's in game design, and it's sad seeing a development team limiting player choice in a competitive, asymmetrical game. Gameplay is supposed to be fun, and present different player choices, and that would most likely help fix some of the toxicity in the community. Players are mad, and so they take it out on other players because if they take it out on the devs, they could be reprimanded (seen it happen). The devs really need to start taking a look at the game as a whole, see what's fun and what isn't, even through player reviews, and adjust accordingly. The player base can be saved only if the devs save their game first.

Instead of having Zoning and 3Gen Killers they could also try an entirely new approach of new Killers who switch up the game mode a bit
slenderman would be really interesting with collecting the notes in order to escape the trial or something like that.
His special ability would be that he can teleport within the range of a survivor of x meters kind of like onryo with the TV's but no TV needed just straight up teleportation the survivor gets an indication that slenderman is nearby with a TV noise happening and the longer you stalk the survivor while they are looking away the faster you get up to a max. speed so eventually you'll end up having a very fast slenderman being able to catch up to you and it would be more "listen and look" than just zoning and 3 genning since he can teleport towards you.
the range would be closer and closer to the survivor per Note collected to make it more intense so he would be more of an Endgame Killer instead of being strong in early hope this idea is cool or not just let me know what you think of it
I can summarize my Skull Merchant experiences like this: 1) place drones on 3 gens from the beginning of the game 2) do nothing, don't chase anyone, just stay there in those 3 gens 3) let survivors do all the other gens 4) win doing absolutely nothing. Basically BHVR buffed camping on another level.

I think per capita, dbd has a more toxic community than other games. I've been in a lot of communities and the average player being this bad is not normal. The only games that I can think of that are worse are old valve games and league.
I think multiplayer horror games tend to attract more negative people on average, but also, DBD has been a pretty bad game for pretty long periods of time and the devs have been consistently negligent in fixing some core parts of the gameplay.
Think back to dbds history and tell me how many times there wasn't something in the game that made you feel like shit. Almost never. No wonder the community is so whiny. The funny thing is that spookn loves baiting this disdain out of people. He doesn't abuse the least interactive parts of the game because it's fun- he does it because he'd have no content if he weren't trying to piss people off.

So problem 1 was hackers. Problem 2 was not liking the style of play people use on a killer but balming behaviour. And problem 3 was people being entitled and not liking the style of play people use on a killer? ...I'm sorry but to complain about the skull merchant and knight being boring because the most effective and popular playstyle isn't fun whilest also playing basement/camping bubba...playing one of the most effective and popular play styles... I seriously can't take him seriously in anything he says because of the thought process he has which is "make you own fun play how you Wana play" and "get over it move on to the next game"..................unless it's the killers I don't like?????
