I have been playing custom games with friends pretty much exclusively. Doing so has made DBD a hell of a lot more fun, we use voice chat on for all of us, the killer and survivors, and we have a ton of laughs. Find a group, play custom, have fun :)

Preach dude, it is super hard to get back into killer. The learning curve is naturally higher as you need to manage 4 people. Hope you spent 10$ on a good killer too. Survivor is base line easier, yet the killers you get are good. Most killers you face will be harder, than before, as the game has filtered out the weak killers. They either play survivor now or don’t play at all. So you get slapped around till you learn to loop… use to play solely killer like 2yrs ago, got 400hrs on console.

@@WhatASausage179 I think the average killer today is of a higher skill set than before, as the weak killers don’t play anymore or just farm. So you get stuck with the dudes who run the meta stuff because they put all their blood points into that killer. Survivor is a little hard at first, but quicker to pick up then killer I believe. Because so quickly you’ll face people that have a clue of what they are doing. Survivor also has a higher population pool, so you have a higher chance of getting a squad of dummies. But I stick by what I said, killer has a higher learning curve than survivor. This killer is harder to learn and perfect than survivor. I played DbD for a little bit again around the Chucky update. would play only survivor for the most part. My teammates, who were my friends, had played way longer than me. Yet they were just bad at the game. Playing hide and seek more than trying to do gens or save other survivors. But I could loop killers, essentially the weaker ones like Wrath. As I understood how they worked. They are strong killers in DbD, but they are all DLC killers, except for Nurse. But on console. You rarely see those.

After 60 hours, I quit. As a new player, the 3 things that stuck out to me the most were: the aggressive monetization, minimum-wage Iridescent Shards, and an entitled/toxic community that make up rules. I'm also not going to pay over $100 to unlock the full game. I'm also not going to spend 3,000 hours to unlock the full game. I wish this game/community the best of luck. Fun game though.

If I wasn't such a completionist I too would bail out, the devs are woefully incompetent, the community are toxic tryhards wholesome moments are so rare, the game's balance is a walking shitshow. And I'm on nearly 2000 hours here lol. Better to spend that time on a nice single player game or chill MMO instead imho 😊

I remember I was a killer main for a long while but swapped to survivor for a minute. I was doing a hex totem and I thought a Mikaela was messing around. Well I finished the totem and I got tunneled out. The Mikaela then messaged me after the game saying that it was my fault they lost. And I was just like, well I understand what I did. I did it and I didn’t know people still run haunted ground (I usually don’t neither do my friends) and I paid for my own demise but to blame it on me was insane.
I’ve been playing for almost six years and I can say that I’ve not received a single message from killer mains or casual killer players that were toxic. It has always been survivors and I’ve had to change my privacy settings on PS5 to friends only. Call me a coward, weak, pussy, whatever. I’d rather not deal with the toxicity from randoms I’ll more than likely not go up against again anytime soon.
I just uninstalled today. Im not going to entertain the survivor or killer aspect of the argument because its pointless. I will say this, I came across a p100 spririt for 4 games in a row that camped at 4 gens and slugged everyone. Didnt even hook, just let us bleed out and even came across a hillbilly that was hacking. Even when i play killer, the game is just not fun. I know people are just going to say skill issue instead of holding the devs accountable for this god-forsaken community. Either way, im good lol yall have fun with this im finna touch grass. To be fair their doing that in protest of the decisive strike buff if we can’t pick you up bleed out kid you got stupid fast heal and recovery on ground now and 3 second chances I have to bleed through so once I get you I’m gonna leave you to bleed you survivors won’t be kind or show me any mercy I won’t either.

Problem with a ranked mode is now the player base us split and you absolutely know 100% there are SWFs out there that will abuse casual and smurf the hell out of killers in casual.
Most games have a casual mode and have zero issues with the split. The playerbase isn’t so minuscule that a split would destroy the entire game😭 Also, comp players won’t exclusively just play the ranked mode, they’ll still play both. And lastly, the last thing isn’t an issue to mention being associated with having a ranked playlist because.. THAT’S ALREADY HAPPENING😭😭😭😭 atleast give those goblins an option for a ranked playlist! Because now EVERYBODY is ALWAYS forced to play with them. This is already going on, and a ranked mode would take a bulk of those players out of the pool because a lot of those players really just want competitive matches.
@@QuietKills Fair and true points, probably not as much an issue I originally thought. There were cases during the My Little Oni silly mode where survivors would hide like rats or a killer slugging for 4ks in a silly game mode. That's the kind of community people that scare my casual ass.
I have a suggestion for the variety and toxic swf problem. If playing swf survivors all cant have the same perks. One perk per suvivor so only one person can run unbreakable and the other have to pick other perks, no survivor has the same perks.This forces new or less used perks to be used and brings variety and prevents toxic behavior in terms of relying on OP perks.

Great insights QK! Congrats on 45k. My 2 cents: I play on ps5, still enjoy the game although there's subtle hackers every other game, but since there's no endgame chat on console and my messages are only open to friends I'm not bothered that much 😂
11:54 good point, but I actually learned how to loop ghosts in phasmophobia, and boo men from being able to loop the killer in dbd, very niche and specific skill translation, but its pretty cool how the skills did translate

I can’t really say I’ve had a negative experience playing killer and I play on pc, but I know the toxicity is there. I think what bothers me is when I first started playing killer I was already going against people who had their perks maxed while I either can’t use any or they’re not really conducive to the killer I’m using. At the same time it pushed me to be better but still a weird system.

I'd like to have alternate game modes besides the basic experience; that 2v8 killer mode they proposed sounded AWESOME and the Hide & Seek mode with always-active-Mori (guessing if you get Two Downs on a Surv, you can Mori) sounded cool too. A nice way to encourage new playstyles would be to add new mechanics too. Maybe survivors can board up windows or use time to repair broken doors, maybe add a *fake* exit door to troll survivors, or even doing something besides hooks and Mori for getting kills -- down someone more than 4 times? Dead. Adding an insta-kill pit in ONE spot on the map that killers can throw a single survivor down before it locks, maybe give the option for a killer to tie someone up if they grab them in a locker instead of having to hook them -- I dunno I'm just a dude trying to contribute to changes for the better. Just my opinions.
Yeah honestly watching your content has been super refreshing compared to all the other creators pretending to be so nice and not care about the outcome of the game. it just becomes boring to watch there’s no stakes if they win or lose or if they even pretend to care. And also they are the same people who get annoyed about tunneling, camping or other made up rules why you shouldn’t do this or that or you’re a dick. Just play how you want, learn how to counter the things you don’t like
*Yeah I'll be fr, this is why I play DBD mobile because for some reason there is a quick play and ranked play but somehow they still haven't added that to the main game. It legit takes the stress off because I can play chill without worrying about my rank going down while still getting the exact same rewards I would in ranked incidence shards ext.*
bad thing is quick play becomes a sweat camp when season ending is close. Cuz all sweaty mfs alr climb to top sooner and will only play quick play to not risk ranks. Happens a lot rn, for this season i was not that active but i saw full p100 team on quick play twice, never saw a single survivor higher than p50 in ranked. Also bots mode is really good for blood points, i saw people that play real dbd complain about grind after bloodmoon event ended, making them realize how hard grinding is one more time.
Preach. I came back to the game after a 3 year break about 7 months ago. Nothing has been worse than the SBMMR change and the further bracket tightening and absolutely for the reason you gave - variety is entirely dead, every match is the same. When I found out about it, I even saw an Otz video of him on the PTB before it went live and he made an offhand remark saying that would be the outcome. Every time I post in a Reddit thread that SBMMR is the worst thing they've ever added to the game I get downvoted and get the same survivors who do not play both sides saying 'you just want to club seals' essentially. It's fucking stupid. I do not understand people who only play half the game and then dig in on the US vs THEM shit at all either. BONUS: After this next patch we will be going back in time to the 2019/2020 (when I played before quitting) meta of DS/DH/Unbreakable and probably still Adrenaline since a 5 second DS is hilariously stupid. EDIT: The old rank system was better, if you wanted to sweat to get that Iri 1 you did, if you didn't want sweaty games you didn't have to and it reset. Now there is no decay and no matter what you're stuck where you are once you get high enough - this is especially true for killer. Loaded into a game last night as a Vanity mirror Mikey w/ a farming build on, got sent to Eyrie of Crows against a 4 man that brought all the busted survivor meta bs and they taunted at Gates. Didn’t get to me tho’ I was chilling but I can see how an experience like that would ruin the game for the casual player.
As i mentioned on Instagram, I was trying Doctor out and first game I had a quitter and the survivors were just goofing off and not really playing. The second Doctor game the server crashed on me in the middle of the game and I didn’t get any BP. Felt like I wasted my time
Yeah I will be taking a longer break from this game. The amount of subtle cheaters, the unfair and unbalanced maps, the frustrating reality of playing an m1 killer, the constant pressure and stress while playing killer, the toxic community and the weird decision making by the devs made me take a break. I really recommend Helldivers 2 and Content Warning....so much more fun. Good video QK and dbd is just not in a fun spot for me right now.

I’ve had a survivor DC on me because I was able to down him within seconds. He waited the whole match just to shit talk me. The OTHER survivors were mad becuz I didn’t start playing nice to compensate for the DC. The community is ass. Devs can’t run a game nor have the balls to change real things. But I spent money so now I’m invested.
I played the game in 2018 and 2019 as a killer for fun and would get nonstop messages from lunatics after 90% of the games I finished just spazzing out for how I played regardless what I did. Worst community ever
I started playing death slinger yesterday for the first time and my second game I got a swf team who brought me to Macmillan map, long story short I ended up getting the 4K, they came to my stream and started making excuses immediately “I just got back to playing after 5 months your trash” it’s like when I play killer or survivor you just can’t fun anymore, I even said ggwp to them and said they played really good. and none of that mattered to them, they just immediately went for toxicity
One of the biggest issues is the "competitive" players. They brag that they have 10k hours as if thats impressive for such an old game. Those are casual fgc player numbers. And they call everything a "tech" thats not a tech. Walking backwards or standing still on a boat are not "techs"

If the identity of the developers was public or at least there was a way for the players of the game to have direct access to the devs you can 100% bet there would be more changes to this game and there would be changes fast because I beleive 100% that the devs have never experienced the community that they are growing and fostering but if they did and they saw what is really going on inside their game OR if they had these fans @ them constantly on twitter and shit... They would know
I just uninstalling a few days ago because of these issues. I was a killer main that had all killers, and all were p1. I was a good nice killer till about 2022, then that's when I started tunneling and camping and even worse, getting mad. I hope u take those bully squads down. 👍
To be honest I love all of the toxicity I feed off the energy as a killer, and yes they need a competitive ranked mode so all of the competitive players can leave the pub players alone.
As a killer main that was there for the console releases I can say that pallet vortexes and original Decisive with original Dead Hard was absolute suffering. They even nerfed the only counter for DS at the time which was dribbling before they even considered removing DS. The Devs were always at a disconnect from the community but at least there weren't any hackers on console

It is frustrating how toxic people can be in this game; I try to focus on not stressing out about the game or the gameplay/community and try to just have fun and enjoy the game as much I can whether I win or lose and that’s helped a lot. But I do admittedly get a LOT of anxiety if I happen to play “mean” because I was having a rough game because I’m always afraid of how survivors will react. I dunno I just feel like treating it as what it is and trying to not stress or get upset about it seems to help way more than taking everything under my skin if that makes sense. Maybe I’m supporting a bad game but I absolutely love Dead by Daylight and probably will for a long time to come and I try not to let things ruin it even if it seems overwhelming.
I remember when I first started playing this game (As Killer) and my friends were watching me play. I'd smack a survivor on hook while saying something playful (not out of malice, but because I was just having fun dicking around), and then my friends would say "nooooo don't do that, that's BM." I was SO confused. I was like "...I'm the killer? I feel like it's not out-of-character to attack someone if I'm the killer." Anyway, now I don't hit survivors on hook (unless they're being toxic). BUT YEAH, relating that all to the point in the video about how content creators have given various interactions meaning--It's quite silly.
I mean i wont knock the devs for plugging merch but has anyone ever noticed that they start most streams with answering questions and convientley the same question apparently shows up first, "Whens the new merch" . And they seem to ignore most questions on the q and a post or just respond with Were not sure at this time but planned in the future.
15:00 THAT (besides the community) is the biggest issue. That the most boring play styles are the most efficient. If the game punished those plays but rewarded doing exactly NOT that then I think the game would feel more healthy. All those rules would go away and both sides can relax a little more (also we need casual/comp modes). Killers won't have to hear the bitching all the time and survivors will be able to play more and have more interactive matches.

I think what finally made me leave. This game permanently was when I came back after 3 months of being away from the game and decided to get the newest killer at the time that was Chucky and then a swf Completely destroyed me, made it out of the gate. And I knew they were going to tea. Bag me at the gate. So I decided not to go to the gate and ignore them until they finally left, They then sent me a message later on And kept asking me over and over again why I didn't come to the gate.I told them that I didn't want to be there for them to just mock me before leaving and they had the Nerve to say you Lost, so just take your tea bag and leave.
Whats funny is that dbd mobile HAS MODES, RANKED, QUICK MATCH AND BOT MODE and its fun to play on dbd mobile with all its new cosmetics, moris and as well as modes but yet dbd on console and pc we get crap just feng min cosmetics 😑
The community is what's wrong with the game. You get 90% of the community being sweats and toxic trying to finish the match fast even using distant camp and tunnelling which is strategic to them then just trash talk to each other. The 10% of the players either invests in the match like as killer, they play about with the survivors, when 2 gens get fixed, they play serious till 1 player is Sacrificed, when there's 1 more gen left, then the killer gets 100% serious and attempts to win. The other part of the 10% is the killers literally giving the survivors blood points to a high amount. Yet sometimes these 10% gets treated like shit when they are trying to be nice and play fair. Hell another reason for the 10% to be nice is probably to give the survivors a chance on trophies and achievements too and the toxic players will still say they are shit when they could be helping either them or another survivor. No offence too but Xbox or PC players may have more toxic players than what psn has as I don't get toxic messages form another psn player.
just came back to the game after over a year and its just so frustrating playing killer im getting put against guys who stack with the best possible perk combos while im getting blinded every time i try pick up a down by his boyfriend and playing killer against these guys who are so coordinated is so frustrating it actually makes me want to cry and like half my matches r indoor maps which r all terrible this games trash for killer i have to try my hardest to try and win while on survivor i barely try and get an easy win, there are 4x the amount of survivors to cry about "op" things and now they just buffed survivor so hard and just nerf killers while every killer is trash except for like 5
also if you remotely play killer against high mmr you would know you are FORCED to tunnel to get a win and theres no other way to play for me i have to try as hard as possible tunnel do anything to win against these sweat squads with over 1000 hours each
I agree that the COMMUNITY is the worst part of the game. As someone who has played about 70-80% of my playtime on killer I can tell you we feel the brunt of it. HOWEVER, I hate the obnoxious second chance perks etc but the devs are ultimately where the buck stops with them. Survivors can’t abuse buckle up and for the ppl if it wasn’t in the game. Survivors can’t get gens done in 20-30 seconds with a toolbox exploit like we had for weeks UNLESS the devs put ut in the game. So even tho I think ur a piece of garbage for using the stuff they have, ultimately the devs put it in the game and they deserve to be held responsible for there dog shit decisions.
Funny you bring up Hag. She's my 'FAFO' killer. When I play my Shape game having fun, and get pissed at shitty SWFs, Hag is what I break out to take necks.
I remember when video games were fun. And the most competitive thing you did was talk s-hit to your buddy next to you on the couch while you play golden eye. Noone got mad. Somehow, having fun has changed to "winning" the match. Really sad.
personally for me, i'd say it's all about a match feeling deserved for me. if a team is rocking the best perks in the game, but using them in a normal way and not abusing them, the loss feels deserved. if i can think back to something i could've done differently that could've got me the win, i feel like the loss is deserved. but when i can't think of a single thing i could've done differently because i was just getting hit by perk after perk. that's when it feels like an undeserved loss. same thing goes for the other way around. winning against a team/killer that's clearly trying to have fun doesn't feel deserved, so i usually try to chill out that game to have some fun with them.
When I first got messages from ppl crying about tunneling, I thought they were talking about my ability to teleport through biopods. But yeah it turns out they just believe im not allowed to kill survivors one at a time. I also learned quickly as a survivor that if I'm first to go on hook, then the killer is going to target me more. It's simple common game sense.
I got DBD on ps4 and everytime I lose or win. People would start sending me messages telling me how I was trash. I basically started playing the game again since chucky. And it’s still the same. I bought Dbd on Nintendo switch just because they aren’t able to send messages to you on that platform. Dbd is no bueno anymore
As a new player who only used the base characters, the basic gameplay mechanics get destroyed by perks, powers, and add-ons that ruin the game. Playing against an undetectable killer who one hit downs you with an incredibly long lunge while also being too fast too even loop? Why would I even want to play this game?
This is mostly going to be from a killer perspective. DBD the game is fine. DBD the community, I don't think I've ever seen such a *soft* group of players in my entire life. Maybe it's just endless rounds of WSG and AV in WoW, where yeah, one side is running horse shit, but so are you, but you didn't hear about the complaining, just "Welp, we got our asses whooped. Let's go again!" . The community does nothing but complain. "This is broken." "That is broken." "That perk sucks, use this perk" *glares at Lightborn* . You're criticized for running a perk that, say there's two Hex: Idiots in the lobby, same character, same cosmetics, both with Flashlights...yeah, I'm going to bring Lightborn. "Oh, I can look up/away/etc." Valid point. But I really don't WANT to have to do that. I'd rather have some moron trying to give me a seizure only to not realize I'm doing the thing that negates their strategy. And you get grief over it. Seemingly EVERY killer is broken, well, probably with the exception of Freddy due to a strong lack of interest. Yet, in the mean time, those playing Survivor have zero problem pissing killers off with their dumb bullshit. And I don't mean being skilled players, I mean things like bully squads, everyone running meta perks and throwing in map offerings to unbalanced realms, etc. You know exactly what I mean, you make videos about destroying those bastards nearly every day, and God bless you for it. As I write this, it's 6:35 PM. I've been up for 13 hours, had a 45 minute drive home in a car with no AC. And I would love to hope on and just have some fun with Dead by Daylight. But part of me knows I'm just going to run into the same bullshit. Survivors doing cheap bullshit and having the audacity to either plead for mercy after I somehow get them on a death hook down or wondering why in the hell I disconnected after five minutes of non stop bullshit at Ormond. I feel like solutions *could* be implemented to solve some of these, to a degree. First, split the survivors into two groups: SWF and Solo. And from there Survivors select which queue they want to join; they could join both if they want due to some obvious possibly mismatches that could stall a lobby. Killers get the same option - Do they want to face SWFs, Mixed or just Solo teams. SWFs and Mixed provides bonus BP for everyone involved. it's not a perfect solution, it doesn't solve meta perks or OP combinations on both sides of the fence, but it's a start. Also, being able to minimize or disable the post-game chat box would be appreciated -_- . But those are my ideas.
Hey man I was thinking about when you were concerned on why survivors give up and as a survivor main I wanted to give the reasons why I think survivors give up a lot now. 1. They are a bully squad that don’t get a baby killer they cant push around. 2. They get a killer like knight or trickster with the most broken add ons and perks. 3. They are a solo q survivor with teammates that aren’t doing gens and can’t hold a chase for longer than 3 secs. 4. They give up instead of dc’ing because of the dc penalty that’ll ban for 2 days if they dc These are just my reasons why and you might not agree and that’s fine.
I made a video about this game years ago and talked about how it was the nost toxic community I've been around and here we are years later and nothing has changed. IMO it's always been toxic.
I played back in 2018 and compared to even 2019 the game was way more relaxed. I started to play right after they changed MM to ignore your Steam DL region. Back then a lot of players supposedly were playing in the Toronto region specifically, knowing that it was by far the chillest place to hang out. Also no, I don't think a proper ranked mode would fix it. People would just continue to play casual/unranked and continue to cry about everything. You can see this with L4D2 where VS has devolved into an absolute shitshow over the years. I played on XB360 right after launch and VS was just another mode, no one took it seriously. On PC a few years later though it was a salt fest. FF to now and it still is. People constantly complain about you not having at least 5000 hours on the game and not having practiced with an offline bot mod for at least 200 hours. They *could* just play on a ranked community server, but they choose to play Valve VS over and over. You can't help these people, they are not right up there.
man sometimes I just raw dog it as killer no perks no add ons no offerings just playing for fun win or lose. a lot of people sweat their asses off 24/7 meta builds and shit on both sides.
I used to love it when it was more rewarding but they’ve nerfed b.p. Gain and perks that helped with it they nerfed perks I paid for so badly they aren’t worth using and the constant flip flop of balance doesn’t help at all plus all the effort required versus the very tiny reward for it.

I have been playing custom games with friends pretty much exclusively. Doing so has made DBD a hell of a lot more fun, we use voice chat on for all of us, the killer and survivors, and we have a ton of laughs. Find a group, play custom, have fun :)

Preach dude, it is super hard to get back into killer. The learning curve is naturally higher as you need to manage 4 people. Hope you spent 10$ on a good killer too. Survivor is base line easier, yet the killers you get are good. Most killers you face will be harder, than before, as the game has filtered out the weak killers. They either play survivor now or don’t play at all. So you get slapped around till you learn to loop… use to play solely killer like 2yrs ago, got 400hrs on console.

@@WhatASausage179 I think the average killer today is of a higher skill set than before, as the weak killers don’t play anymore or just farm. So you get stuck with the dudes who run the meta stuff because they put all their blood points into that killer.
Survivor is a little hard at first, but quicker to pick up then killer I believe. Because so quickly you’ll face people that have a clue of what they are doing. Survivor also has a higher population pool, so you have a higher chance of getting a squad of dummies. But I stick by what I said, killer has a higher learning curve than survivor. This killer is harder to learn and perfect than survivor.
I played DbD for a little bit again around the Chucky update. would play only survivor for the most part. My teammates, who were my friends, had played way longer than me. Yet they were just bad at the game. Playing hide and seek more than trying to do gens or save other survivors. But I could loop killers, essentially the weaker ones like Wrath. As I understood how they worked. They are strong killers in DbD, but they are all DLC killers, except for Nurse. But on console. You rarely see those.

After 60 hours, I quit. As a new player, the 3 things that stuck out to me the most were: the aggressive monetization, minimum-wage Iridescent Shards, and an entitled/toxic community that make up rules. I'm also not going to pay over $100 to unlock the full game. I'm also not going to spend 3,000 hours to unlock the full game. I wish this game/community the best of luck. Fun game though.

If I wasn't such a completionist I too would bail out, the devs are woefully incompetent, the community are toxic tryhards wholesome moments are so rare, the game's balance is a walking shitshow. And I'm on nearly 2000 hours here lol. Better to spend that time on a nice single player game or chill MMO instead imho 😊

I remember I was a killer main for a long while but swapped to survivor for a minute. I was doing a hex totem and I thought a Mikaela was messing around. Well I finished the totem and I got tunneled out. The Mikaela then messaged me after the game saying that it was my fault they lost. And I was just like, well I understand what I did. I did it and I didn’t know people still run haunted ground (I usually don’t neither do my friends) and I paid for my own demise but to blame it on me was insane.

I just uninstalled today. Im not going to entertain the survivor or killer aspect of the argument because its pointless. I will say this, I came across a p100 spririt for 4 games in a row that camped at 4 gens and slugged everyone. Didnt even hook, just let us bleed out and even came across a hillbilly that was hacking. Even when i play killer, the game is just not fun. I know people are just going to say skill issue instead of holding the devs accountable for this god-forsaken community. Either way, im good lol yall have fun with this im finna touch grass. A ranked/comp game mode would be so good for this game
Problem with a ranked mode is now the player base us split and you absolutely know 100% there are SWFs out there that will abuse casual and smurf the hell out of killers in casual.
Most games have a casual mode and have zero issues with the split. The playerbase isn’t so minuscule that a split would destroy the entire game😭 Also, comp players won’t exclusively just play the ranked mode, they’ll still play both. And lastly, the last thing isn’t an issue to mention being associated with having a ranked playlist because.. THAT’S ALREADY HAPPENING😭😭😭😭 atleast give those goblins an option for a ranked playlist! Because now EVERYBODY is ALWAYS forced to play with them. This is already going on, and a ranked mode would take a bulk of those players out of the pool because a lot of those players really just want competitive matches.
@@QuietKills Fair and true points, probably not as much an issue I originally thought. There were cases during the My Little Oni silly mode where survivors would hide like rats or a killer slugging for 4ks in a silly game mode. That's the kind of community people that scare my casual ass.
I have a suggestion for the variety and toxic swf problem. If playing swf survivors all cant have the same perks. One perk per suvivor so only one person can run unbreakable and the other have to pick other perks, no survivor has the same perks.This forces new or less used perks to be used and brings variety and prevents toxic behavior in terms of relying on OP perks.

I can’t really say I’ve had a negative experience playing killer and I play on pc, but I know the toxicity is there. I think what bothers me is when I first started playing killer I was already going against people who had their perks maxed while I either can’t use any or they’re not really conducive to the killer I’m using. At the same time it pushed me to be better but still a weird system.

I'd like to have alternate game modes besides the basic experience; that 2v8 killer mode they proposed sounded AWESOME and the Hide & Seek mode with always-active-Mori (guessing if you get Two Downs on a Surv, you can Mori) sounded cool too.
A nice way to encourage new playstyles would be to add new mechanics too. Maybe survivors can board up windows or use time to repair broken doors, maybe add a *fake* exit door to troll survivors, or even doing something besides hooks and Mori for getting kills -- down someone more than 4 times? Dead. Adding an insta-kill pit in ONE spot on the map that killers can throw a single survivor down before it locks, maybe give the option for a killer to tie someone up if they grab them in a locker instead of having to hook them -- I dunno I'm just a dude trying to contribute to changes for the better. Just my opinions.

Yeah honestly watching your content has been super refreshing compared to all the other creators pretending to be so nice and not care about the outcome of the game. it just becomes boring to watch there’s no stakes if they win or lose or if they even pretend to care. And also they are the same people who get annoyed about tunneling, camping or other made up rules why you shouldn’t do this or that or you’re a dick. Just play how you want, learn how to counter the things you don’t like
*Yeah I'll be fr, this is why I play DBD mobile because for some reason there is a quick play and ranked play but somehow they still haven't added that to the main game. It legit takes the stress off because I can play chill without worrying about my rank going down while still getting the exact same rewards I would in ranked incidence shards ext.*
bad thing is quick play becomes a sweat camp when season ending is close. Cuz all sweaty mfs alr climb to top sooner and will only play quick play to not risk ranks. Happens a lot rn, for this season i was not that active but i saw full p100 team on quick play twice, never saw a single survivor higher than p50 in ranked.
Also bots mode is really good for blood points, i saw people that play real dbd complain about grind after bloodmoon event ended, making them realize how hard grinding is one more time.
Preach. I came back to the game after a 3 year break about 7 months ago. Nothing has been worse than the SBMMR change and the further bracket tightening and absolutely for the reason you gave - variety is entirely dead, every match is the same. When I found out about it, I even saw an Otz video of him on the PTB before it went live and he made an offhand remark saying that would be the outcome. Every time I post in a Reddit thread that SBMMR is the worst thing they've ever added to the game I get downvoted and get the same survivors who do not play both sides saying 'you just want to club seals' essentially. It's fucking stupid. I do not understand people who only play half the game and then dig in on the US vs THEM shit at all either. BONUS: After this next patch we will be going back in time to the 2019/2020 (when I played before quitting) meta of DS/DH/Unbreakable and probably still Adrenaline since a 5 second DS is hilariously stupid.
EDIT: The old rank system was better, if you wanted to sweat to get that Iri 1 you did, if you didn't want sweaty games you didn't have to and it reset. Now there is no decay and no matter what you're stuck where you are once you get high enough - this is especially true for killer. Loaded into a game last night as a Vanity mirror Mikey w/ a farming build on, got sent to Eyrie of Crows against a 4 man that brought all the busted survivor meta bs and they taunted at Gates. As i mentioned on Instagram, I was trying Doctor out and first game I had a quitter and the survivors were just goofing off and not really playing. The second Doctor game the server crashed on me in the middle of the game and I didn’t get any BP. Felt like I wasted my time
Yeah I will be taking a longer break from this game. The amount of subtle cheaters, the unfair and unbalanced maps, the frustrating reality of playing an m1 killer, the constant pressure and stress while playing killer, the toxic community and the weird decision making by the devs made me take a break. I really recommend Helldivers 2 and Content Warning....so much more fun.

I’ve had a survivor DC on me because I was able to down him within seconds. He waited the whole match just to shit talk me. The OTHER survivors were mad becuz I didn’t start playing nice to compensate for the DC. The community is ass. Devs can’t run a game nor have the balls to change real things. But I spent money so now I’m invested.

I played the game in 2018 and 2019 as a killer for fun and would get nonstop messages from lunatics after 90% of the games I finished just spazzing out for how I played regardless what I did. Worst community ever
I started playing death slinger yesterday for the first time and my second game I got a swf team who brought me to Macmillan map, long story short I ended up getting the 4K, they came to my stream and started making excuses immediately “I just got back to playing after 5 months your trash” it’s like when I play killer or survivor you just can’t fun anymore, I even said ggwp to them and said they played really good. and none of that mattered to them, they just immediately went for toxicity
One of the biggest issues is the "competitive" players. They brag that they have 10k hours as if thats impressive for such an old game. Those are casual fgc player numbers. And they call everything a "tech" thats not a tech. Walking backwards or standing still on a boat are not "techs"

If the identity of the developers was public or at least there was a way for the players of the game to have direct access to the devs you can 100% bet there would be more changes to this game and there would be changes fast because I beleive 100% that the devs have never experienced the community that they are growing and fostering but if they did and they saw what is really going on inside their game OR if they had these fans @ them constantly on twitter and shit... As a killer main that was there for the console releases I can say that pallet vortexes and original Decisive with original Dead Hard was absolute suffering. They even nerfed the only counter for DS at the time which was dribbling before they even considered removing DS. The Devs were always at a disconnect from the community but at least there weren't any hackers on console

It is frustrating how toxic people can be in this game; I try to focus on not stressing out about the game or the gameplay/community and try to just have fun and enjoy the game as much I can whether I win or lose and that’s helped a lot. But I do admittedly get a LOT of anxiety if I happen to play “mean” because I was having a rough game because I’m always afraid of how survivors will react. I dunno I just feel like treating it as what it is and trying to not stress or get upset about it seems to help way more than taking everything under my skin if that makes sense. Maybe I’m supporting a bad game but I absolutely love Dead by Daylight and probably will for a long time to come and I try not to let things ruin it even if it seems overwhelming.

I remember when I first started playing this game (As Killer) and my friends were watching me play.
I'd smack a survivor on hook while saying something playful (not out of malice, but because I was just having fun dicking around), and then my friends would say "nooooo don't do that, that's BM."
I was SO confused. I was like "...I'm the killer? I feel like it's not out-of-character to attack someone if I'm the killer."
Anyway, now I don't hit survivors on hook (unless they're being toxic).
BUT YEAH, relating that all to the point in the video about how content creators have given various interactions meaning--It's quite silly.

15:00 THAT (besides the community) is the biggest issue. That the most boring play styles are the most efficient. If the game punished those plays but rewarded doing exactly NOT that then I think the game would feel more healthy. All those rules would go away and both sides can relax a little more (also we need casual/comp modes).
Killers won't have to hear the bitching all the time and survivors will be able to play more and have more interactive matches.

I think what finally made me leave. This game permanently was when I came back after 3 months of being away from the game and decided to get the newest killer at the time that was Chucky and then a swf Completely destroyed me, made it out of the gate. And I knew they were going to tea. Bag me at the gate. So I decided not to go to the gate and ignore them until they finally left, They then sent me a message later on And kept asking me over and over again why I didn't come to the gate.I told them that I didn't want to be there for them to just mock me before leaving and they had the Nerve to say you Lost, so just take your tea bag and leave.
Whats funny is that dbd mobile HAS MODES, RANKED, QUICK MATCH AND BOT MODE and its fun to play on dbd mobile with all its new cosmetics, moris and as well as modes but yet dbd on console and pc we get crap just feng min cosmetics 😑
The community is what's wrong with the game. You get 90% of the community being sweats and toxic trying to finish the match fast even using distant camp and tunnelling which is strategic to them then just trash talk to each other.
The 10% of the players either invests in the match like as killer, they play about with the survivors, when 2 gens get fixed, they play serious till 1 player is Sacrificed, when there's 1 more gen left, then the killer gets 100% serious and attempts to win.
The other part of the 10% is the killers literally giving the survivors blood points to a high amount.
Yet sometimes these 10% gets treated like shit when they are trying to be nice and play fair.
Hell another reason for the 10% to be nice is probably to give the survivors a chance on trophies and achievements too and the toxic players will still say they are shit when they could be helping either them or another survivor.
No offence too but Xbox or PC players may have more toxic players than what psn has as I don't get toxic messages form another psn player.

just came back to the game after over a year and its just so frustrating playing killer im getting put against guys who stack with the best possible perk combos while im getting blinded every time i try pick up a down by his boyfriend and playing killer against these guys who are so coordinated is so frustrating it actually makes me want to cry and like half my matches r indoor maps which r all terrible this games trash for killer i have to try my hardest to try and win while on survivor i barely try and get an easy win, there are 4x the amount of survivors to cry about "op" things and now they just buffed survivor so hard and just nerf killers while every killer is trash except for like 5
also if you remotely play killer against high mmr you would know you are FORCED to tunnel to get a win and theres no other way to play for me i have to try as hard as possible tunnel do anything to win against these sweat squads with over 1000 hours each

I agree that the COMMUNITY is the worst part of the game. As someone who has played about 70-80% of my playtime on killer I can tell you we feel the brunt of it. HOWEVER, I hate the obnoxious second chance perks etc but the devs are ultimately where the buck stops with them. Survivors can’t abuse buckle up and for the ppl if it wasn’t in the game. Survivors can’t get gens done in 20-30 seconds with a toolbox exploit like we had for weeks UNLESS the devs put ut in the game. So even tho I think ur a piece of garbage for using the stuff they have, ultimately the devs put it in the game and they deserve to be held responsible for there dog shit decisions.

I remember when video games were fun. And the most competitive thing you did was talk s-hit to your buddy next to you on the couch while you play golden eye. Noone got mad. Somehow, having fun has changed to "winning" the match. Really sad.

personally for me, i'd say it's all about a match feeling deserved for me. if a team is rocking the best perks in the game, but using them in a normal way and not abusing them, the loss feels deserved. if i can think back to something i could've done differently that could've got me the win, i feel like the loss is deserved. but when i can't think of a single thing i could've done differently because i was just getting hit by perk after perk. that's when it feels like an undeserved loss. same thing goes for the other way around. winning against a team/killer that's clearly trying to have fun doesn't feel deserved, so i usually try to chill out that game to have some fun with them.
When I first got messages from ppl crying about tunneling, I thought they were talking about my ability to teleport through biopods. But yeah it turns out they just believe im not allowed to kill survivors one at a time.
I also learned quickly as a survivor that if I'm first to go on hook, then the killer is going to target me more. It's simple common game sense.
I got DBD on ps4 and everytime I lose or win. People would start sending me messages telling me how I was trash. I basically started playing the game again since chucky. And it’s still the same. I bought Dbd on Nintendo switch just because they aren’t able to send messages to you on that platform.

As a new player who only used the base characters, the basic gameplay mechanics get destroyed by perks, powers, and add-ons that ruin the game. Playing against an undetectable killer who one hit downs you with an incredibly long lunge while also being too fast too even loop? Why would I even want to play this game?

This is mostly going to be from a killer perspective. DBD the game is fine. DBD the community, I don't think I've ever seen such a *soft* group of players in my entire life. Maybe it's just endless rounds of WSG and AV in WoW, where yeah, one side is running horse shit, but so are you, but you didn't hear about the complaining, just "Welp, we got our asses whooped. Let's go again!" .
The community does nothing but complain. "This is broken." "That is broken." "That perk sucks, use this perk" *glares at Lightborn* . You're criticized for running a perk that, say there's two Hex: Idiots in the lobby, same character, same cosmetics, both with Flashlights...yeah, I'm going to bring Lightborn. "Oh, I can look up/away/etc." Valid point. But I really don't WANT to have to do that. I'd rather have some moron trying to give me a seizure only to not realize I'm doing the thing that negates their strategy. And you get grief over it. Seemingly EVERY killer is broken, well, probably with the exception of Freddy due to a strong lack of interest.
Yet, in the mean time, those playing Survivor have zero problem pissing killers off with their dumb bullshit. And I don't mean being skilled players, I mean things like bully squads, everyone running meta perks and throwing in map offerings to unbalanced realms, etc. You know exactly what I mean, you make videos about destroying those bastards nearly every day, and God bless you for it.
As I write this, it's 6:35 PM. I've been up for 13 hours, had a 45 minute drive home in a car with no AC. And I would love to hope on and just have some fun with Dead by Daylight. But part of me knows I'm just going to run into the same bullshit. Survivors doing cheap bullshit and having the audacity to either plead for mercy after I somehow get them on a death hook down or wondering why in the hell I disconnected after five minutes of non stop bullshit at Ormond.
I feel like solutions *could* be implemented to solve some of these, to a degree. First, split the survivors into two groups: SWF and Solo. And from there Survivors select which queue they want to join; they could join both if they want due to some obvious possibly mismatches that could stall a lobby. Killers get the same option - Do they want to face SWFs, Mixed or just Solo teams. SWFs and Mixed provides bonus BP for everyone involved.
it's not a perfect solution, it doesn't solve meta perks or OP combinations on both sides of the fence, but it's a start.
Also, being able to minimize or disable the post-game chat box would be appreciated -_- . But those are my ideas.
Hey man I was thinking about when you were concerned on why survivors give up and as a survivor main I wanted to give the reasons why I think survivors give up a lot now.
1. They are a bully squad that don’t get a baby killer they cant push around.
2. They get a killer like knight or trickster with the most broken add ons and perks.
3. They are a solo q survivor with teammates that aren’t doing gens and can’t hold a chase for longer than 3 secs.
4. They give up instead of dc’ing because of the dc penalty that’ll ban for 2 days if they dc
These are just my reasons why and you might not agree and that’s fine.
Before they added mmr and stuff like that I would literally 3-4k every match mostly 4k without stressing very hard at all now it’s kinda wild

I made a video about this game years ago and talked about how it was the nost toxic community I've been around and here we are years later and nothing has changed. IMO it's always been toxic.
I played back in 2018 and compared to even 2019 the game was way more relaxed. I started to play right after they changed MM to ignore your Steam DL region. Back then a lot of players supposedly were playing in the Toronto region specifically, knowing that it was by far the chillest place to hang out.
Also no, I don't think a proper ranked mode would fix it. People would just continue to play casual/unranked and continue to cry about everything. You can see this with L4D2 where VS has devolved into an absolute shitshow over the years. I played on XB360 right after launch and VS was just another mode, no one took it seriously. On PC a few years later though it was a salt fest. FF to now and it still is. People constantly complain about you not having at least 5000 hours on the game and not having practiced with an offline bot mod for at least 200 hours.
They *could* just play on a ranked community server, but they choose to play Valve VS over and over.
You can't help these people, they are not right up there.

man sometimes I just raw dog it as killer no perks no add ons no offerings just playing for fun win or lose. a lot of people sweat their asses off 24/7 meta builds and shit on both sides.
I used to love it when it was more rewarding but they’ve nerfed b.p. Gain and perks that helped with it they nerfed perks I paid for so badly they aren’t worth using and the constant flip flop of balance doesn’t help at all plus all the effort required versus the very tiny reward for it.
