F150 TAIL LIGHTS STOLEN! THE STORY & HOW TO FIX!

- It's becoming a more common thing for thieves to target F150s with the BLIS sensors in the tail lights. I never thought this would happen to me, but here is what I have learned from the event!
Here is the link to the LatchLid product I installed to prevent further theft:

Appreciate the share on the sources, mann. This same situation happened to me here in Houston TX 10 days ago. Ford is aware, cops didn't even stop by due to it happening & non emergent. 2019 Ford f150 lariat and alarm was bypassed by this same method. My insurance covered it ($2,576.38 replaced with same-used taillights), but raised my monthly payment $40 more, and I paid the deductible $500+. Frustrating because all I do is work and mind my own business, and these fellas just want it fast & easy. It's the sense of security that is taken away because it could simply happen again. I feel yea mann. Honestly, I'm probably trading this truck in once my payments are complete for a beater used vehicle
Sorry to hear this happened to you as well! And I would understand getting a beater. Having a nice truck like these shouldn’t be such a struggle lol happy to share the links and hopefully it helps. I’m considering adding a tonneau cover as well as my friends that have them don’t have issues.
@vonlipichracing251 adding a cover is brilliant! Just may consider that option as well. Thanks, and likewise
Sorry for your loss but man that’s a stellar mustachè. Lol
Haha thank you much!
Wouldn’t hurt to throw a clamp around the tailgate connection as well. I had one on my Gen 2 Raptor. Those tailgates can easily be stolen as well. It won’t stop them from getting it but it is a great deterrent.
I did think about that just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Crazy how easy it is to steal stuff on these trucks.
Just so happened to see another video about F-150 tail lights, from Ford tech, he was replacing a water damaged unit that had the proximity sensor. The whole lot came to $5600 including the module, new. At that price no wonder tail light theft is on the increase, the tail gate becomes a bonus for the thief.
That is CRAZY expensive for a tail light replacement. Can’t believe this kind of stuff.
Literally happened to me today in San Antonio as well on 281 and 1604 at the Saltgrass steakhouse
Me too just down the street, at a motel 6. Fuckin bastards
Sorry to hear it. Seems like a big trend right now and it’s getting everyone.
was probably the same garbage trolls that took the lights out of my wife's ranger about 2 weeks ago, was at a big hotel in San Antonio right under the security lights.
Same happened to me. Twice! First time I went through insurance. Doing it all myself for the second. They cut my wiring too. I had to research how to fix that as well!
Damn cutting the harness is super frustrating. Did you need to cut and splice into it or replace from further back?
Happened to me in New Braunfels, they came into my apartment "secured" parking because the gate has been broken for months. $5000 to replace needless to say I may be suing my apartment complex for gross negligence.
My grandpas ranger has those blind sensor lights told him to be careful , it’s crazy how people don’t care , hope they control this
Pretty wild for sure!
Man I knew this was in San Antonio before I even clicked.
Yeah this city has changed over the years. Gotta be careful out there now
When the first 4x4 Toyota truck came out in the 70s. We parked in a mall parking lot ,shopped for about an hour and someone stole the front sheet metal off it. Hood and two front fenders...called the cops and no body could believe it
The HOOD AND FENDERS?! That’s even more wild!! Who does this stuff 🤯
Shit that happened to me here in houston and it cost $4500 dollars from ford to replace led lights and sensors.
My GOD that’s expensive! Is yours an F150 as well?
Yup, that's what they cost it's more like $5500 if you take it to a mechanic.@@vonlipichracing251
You’re lucky they didn’t steal the whole truck. Very common nowadays whether the key fob is in it or not
Sure hope that doesn’t happen but thank God for insurance
My shit just got stolen outside of my hotel, ford dealership quoted me at 5000 🤦🏽♂️
Sorry to hear it. And WOW. That quote is so expensive
The tailgate cannot opened by inserting a screwdriver into the round hole in a remote release tailgate; the release handle is in a different lower location from the hole, I know because I tried to open my F-2019 150 Limited tailgate with a flat screwdriver, finally I removed the eight T-25 screws to remove the panel and this found out.
Good to know, thanks for sharing!!
Just had this shit happen to me for the second time it’s so annoying man, happened in San Antonio too!
TWO TIMES?! Man that sucks! Have you done any of the anti-theft measures?
With them being aftermarket do the sensors and everything work?
I haven’t put the sensors back in yet but the manufacturer says it will. Recoding them to work properly will be the hard part.
@@vonlipichracing251 so right now you’re just rolling around with the taillight but no blis module? Sorry for being a pest and seem to be repeating myself
@spiderskateg correct. Tail lights and turn signals work just don’t have the blind spot light working at the moment. No worries! Happy to help.
Is it only the BLIS lights they are stealing? I've been looking at new f250's and if so, I know to avoid the BLIS taillights. I currently have a 21 fx4 stx f150 without BLIS, and it sits outside every night. So far it's been left alone.
Yes from what I’ve seen so far it’s ford trucks with the BLIS taillights. You can try the anti-theft methods but they aren’t 100% successful. Non-BLIS taillights might just keep you safe.
Did you ever get the bliss module to work/programmed?
I haven’t got around to it yet but still planning on doing it soon.
@@vonlipichracing251 I’m trying to get mine programmed but everybody I talk to has no idea what I’m talking about lol
@spiderskateg even the dealership? Definitely need to reprogram to get them to work with the VIN
@@vonlipichracing251 the person I used did it through the dealership and got the programmed. Cost me 950 to get them programmed
Nope bed covers don’t help. They broke out my glass and took my tail lights today in the same area in San Antonio. I was on vacation and got lucky and had a dealership Red McCombs get me on the road back to DFW.
Damn sorry to hear it. Thought the bed cover would be of help but that’s wild. They’re really getting everyone lately.
Any rattles after installation?
Not at all. New tails have been perfect. No issues at all after driving with them for a few weeks.
Wow. Its really just two screws. Wow. It might slow them down.
Yep. Love my ford but they really need to fix this issue from the factory.
I had this happen to me and i had a bed cover on my f150
Man that’s really rough. Seems like nothing is the perfect fix, if they really want it and spend the time they’ll get it.
Same thing happened to me. Cost me 5k
Did you take it to a dealership?
Texas - Lucky, they did not remove all your wheels, leave vehicle on bricks. That happens when you go to movies in Texas.
Wild stuff in Texas these days 🤪
Bro this literally happened to me this morning
Damn I’m sorry to hear it. Get your truck right at grab that anti theft kit. Haven’t had any problems with mine since adding.
Hope you get back on your feet soon
Gracias papi
You’re surprised cause it happened in a nice neighborhood on a nice side of town😂😂
Guess I should just go to the hood all the time eh
My point exactly you can be in a nice neighborhood where there’s nice stores and still get your shit stolen, sir 😂
