Thanks for not beating me up in the video. Not my finest moment as a tournament organizer. I was pretty nervous about sharing that info but felt it was important.
@rubyretro I am curious how Pokémon keeps such things from happening these days as you mentioned in the video. Kids general don't have IDs or anything. Do they check your birth certificate? Sign ups that day were show your golden ticket or your 8 badge stamp book and give your dci number and give your age.
I was there during the pokemania of the 90s early 2000s and it really was just as magical as it is told to be. This series has had such a nostalgia grasp on me. (I played at locals during the tcg early days) Keep up the great content!
As for someone who is hardly familiar with PokeTCG, but has interest in card games and their history and meta, this was a very interesting watch! This game not having restriction for "1st turn player doesn't gets to attack" at earlier stage sure got me Overall, great video, thank you for it!~
This is without a doubt the best Pokémon video I have seen on UA-cam since whoever made that Stick Figure Pokémon cartoon where Will Smith’s head was a hot air balloon. Incredible depth and detail, thankful I found it. If you’re looking for an interview or collab lmk.
i discovered your channel just a few days ago, and ive been enjoying watching your videos while playing the newly released TCG GB for switch online. i actually beat it last night with my favorite pokemon belllsprout and I dont wanna wait years for nintendo to port TCG 2 so im playing it on an emulator. im so happy they give me a chance to choose my gender in the sequel! It doesn't let me choose the grass starter deck though and I;m stuck with the fire starter instead, and Aaron the lab tech doesnt give free energy cards anymore, so we starting with hard mode here ;-;
@LeanneMustafa Thank you so much! You can get energies by dueling the tutorial guy, Sam, in a normal duel, I'm pretty sure (or maybe it was practice duel?)
Love the series and can't wait for the next episode. It's also very interesting to see the number of prize cards taken by you and your opponents in each round factored into the standings of the first STS qualifiers to help separate anyone with matching win-loss records. The new Digimon tcg just factors in how well the opponents you lost to did and weights it as a total percentage to separate the matching win-loss records.
I've built 30 different theme decks with base to neo destiny cards only, and I'm still playing games with my friends. 1v1 or 2v2 it's a lot of fun even at 34 y.o.
I feel like dragonnairs hyper beam removing a energy and doing 20 Damage could be opressive paired with super energy removal, switch and energy removals.
Thanks for the videos ,¿Are you planning of continuing with the next generations? Since I started collecting and playing this channel has speed up all the LORE I miss out.
Can anyone explain why (aside from availability) every deck wasn't running 4 Bills/Energy Search? Seems like a no-brainer; there's effectively no downside. They just thin the deck (not to mention going +1 for Bill), or can otherwise be discard fodder.
I never played the Pokemon TCG. I only played the main series Pokemon games. My only experience with the TCG was when the Pokemon TCG for the GB was released for the Nintendo Switch's NSO. I somehow beat the game with the powerful Blastoise card. It literally defeated the last bosses of the game thanks to rain dance. I hate the Articuno spammer though. Now that I beat the game, I came here out of curiosity. PS: Mr. Mime can go to hell.
Ima poke.. fan for sure! Born in 86.. yeah man these cards hit hard haymaker style if you will for my early teen yrs. The Gameboy game took a yr an some change for me to beat when playing at 11 or 12 yr old range. Cards were hard to come by and not cheap like they are or can be still to this day. The game has changed from its early years like all things tend to. 😂 it's kinda funny to be a part of a generational phenom that stared when I was 10. These buttholes made millions like musicians! I loved it
@@marioluigi164 , When I was running events back then, we had a lot of parent involvement. The other Organizer was a dad and used Pokemon to bond with his teenage son and another dad in the group had two teenagers and a younger son that he brought to every event and he worked with everyone of them to get them going and to do their best.
My kids are 7 and 6. I built them rough copies of the old theme decks from the wiki and they used them to build their own casual decks. Is fun to watch.
i used the mewtwo deck back in the day where you make your opponent lose by drawing it takes forever and is super boring. i read about it in a becket magazine or something.
I'm a little surprised that you mentioned the deck at the 51 minute mark didn't run Bill, without chastising it. Bill is hands down the strongest car that's ever come out, in terms of there's never any reason not to run it, lol.
So in talking to Jack, the strategy behind his deck and card choices was getting max value and capitalizing on opponent’s bad luck and his own good luck. Additionally, he wanted options for a grindier game state, and while Bill is amazing, it does make deckout more likely. So, he opted for Chansey and Nightly Garbage Runs instead. ~Nick the Narrator
I think that it would have drastically changed the game if Goop Gas Attack hadn’t been mistranslated, because it would have given decks that rely on Pokémon Powers a way to deal with Muk. As it stands, there was never really a great way to counter Muk throughout the entire WotC era of the game. I played Raindance back in the day and my friend made a deck with Muk just to counter me personally. It was so annoying. It would have made such a difference if I could’ve played Goop Gas Attack to shut off Muk’s Pokémon Power, and then played a Blastoise from my hand and gotten a turn to use Rain Dance.
As disgusting as it is to see someone get abused by a 4 Plus Power Erika's Jigglypuff on the first turn, Jigglypuff is also my favorite poke, so there's a part of me that feels like this is the way things should be. 😈
Thanks for not beating me up in the video. Not my finest moment as a tournament organizer. I was pretty nervous about sharing that info but felt it was important.
Of course. It's all ancient history at this point, anyway.

Thought we got a new 1hr30min episode for a minute but this is still very appreciated 🙌🏻
Yeah, I was worried that would happen. Sorry to disappoint, but we have more new content coming soon.
@@rubyretro can’t wait! Love these videos
Your videos are so well edited and produced. Great to see newer channels popping up with production quality like this. Keep up the great work
Pokémon tcg for gbc came out on switch and I definitely made haymaker because of this series. Hopefully we get the sequel some time soon.
We can hope.
Only channel I’ve ever hit the “Bell” notifications for. Can’t wait for more
Resurrecting my old Haymaker deck after watching this. Great video.
Seeing this channel evolve and make better analysis has been fun. Cant wait for more vídeos!

Yup normal duel. That's what I ended up doing. Winning 3 or 4 matches got me ready for team GR ^^@@rubyretro
Oh my goodness the music is SO much better in this one. Fantastic job!

Oh, the "Remastered" in the title made me think it'll be a video about the Base Set Remastered format.

Was there ever a competitive scene for the gbc game?
Not to my knowledge.
King is back with 1h30 worth of gold! 🎉
