That drummer is a BEAST!
Oh My Good! The voice is almost the same as 30 years ago! Pure Magic!
Try over 40 years !
The most underrated band in the history of Rock. Saga
what is the make of Ian Crichton's guitar
Music from another dimension ^^
I feel triple guilty because they never were a big deal in Canada 🇨🇦 there home country but the Tragically Hip is worshipped like Gods. 🤦♂️🙄
100% agree, when I was a teenager they were one of those off the radar bands that sounded so different than mainstream, so alluring. I wish I could've seen them live!
They have so many good songs, don't know what is the best song of Saga. Maybe "wind him up"
I have no idea why these guys, who I have been following for decades, aren't packing the biggest halls in the world. immense talent. Still sound as good as ever.
Grew up with this band, got to know them at the age of 18 during my military service ind Germany of course ;-) Now, I'm 60 and my God, do they still sound as good as the very first time.Hope to see them again one day.
I've been saying that for years! One of the most underrated bands ever!
His voice is still as good as in his youth. Love this band. Shame they never made it bigger.
next week I'll be 63 - when I listen to this music I'm 33 at the most - probably even younger - can't describe how much I love the sound
great guitar work
...still incredible...an immortal piece of music!!! And the same voice like 25 years ago...Please take me back to the 80s...I miss this crazy years!!! 😢
The band has been constantly successful in Germany since its inception. It is also very popular in Puerto Rico: Saga has visited the island twelve times. Saga's second concert in Puerto Rico (1981) caused riots from fans trying to crash into a sold-out concert that sold over 10,000 tickets. Most of the inner cover photographs from the original vinyl release of In Transit (1982) were taken in Puerto Rico, including a live photograph from the 1981 concert. For a few years, a keyboard riff from their song "No Regrets" became the background music for station breaks at WCAD-FM in San Juan. The band received formal recognition as distinguished visitors from the Puerto Rican legislature in February 2005. Their concert on December 9, 2007 (at the Pier 10 Arena club in Old San Juan) was the last concert that Michael Sadler did with Saga until his announcement of returning to the band on January 2011. I was 17 years old when enjoy their 2nd concert in Puerto Rico in 1981, It was awesome!! Love this band and their music!
I saw this whole Rock am Ring concert on tv in new years evening 1985. I watched it on vcr so many times that the tape worn out. Fortunately, someones have saved their tapes and share them here. I´m still thinking that there were two bands "above over others" , Saga and Marillion.
The first time in a rock concert to enjoy my favorite band ever, 1981 San Juan, Puerto Rico!
The lyrics of this song are so strange, do you know what this song is about? I cant find an explaination anywhere on internet.
I suncribe all that words, iam from Puerto Rico and saga is very loved over here.
Tuve el privelegio de trabajar para Alfa Rock 105 (luego la extinta 106) ese Concierto fue inolvidable. UNICO. Saga es uno de los Grupos más querido en Puerto Rico.
after all these years its still way epic
Perfect drumming !!
Love this band so much! Can't believe how big they are overseas; they know talent when they see and hear it! Michael has one of the very best voices in all of Rock and it has never regressed one bit over the years.
Michael still sounds amazing after all these years.
Wow. What a band. Great music.
One of Canada's most underrated bands.
John gatti - well known in Norway
In the galaxy
And Puerto Rico please Google it and you will see
John gatti Indeed!
Fortunately you are in error, at least in Venezuela the generation of the 80's are full SAGA, they even had a transcendental influence on all the bands that emerged at that time.
Great tune from a great Canadian band that never got its dues here!! Seen them 3 times in there hey day and they were simply great!!
I was there. 5th time I saw Saga in concert. The Gig was almost ready and the crew started to dismantle the Drumkit. But the Fans screamed again and again for another encore. And the Band came really back for another Song. Great memories
Saga was my very first concert I went to see, back when they did a tour in Caracas, Venezuela 1981. Unforgettable!
Juan Mousset I was there too!
Unforgettable experience I was there too 🎵💕
hey brother (in music) I was there with my group of friends (all Saga Die-hard fans) " El Poliedro"..
The sound was awesome.. like u said: Unforgettable
I saw them in early 1982 I believe at University of Missouri Columbia it was a great concert ! At age 19 I was in awe of this groups sound and showmanship
I was there , Poliedro de Caracas 👍🏻
This is beyond music!
First time I got to see SAGA was in 1978 at a bar called Kellys in London Ont. Got to see them 17 times in the years following. Never was disappointed. I never understood why this band didn't achieve a higher standing. Another credit to come out of Canada.
live rock as we want it... great voice since decades, thank you
Großartige Erinnerung an meine Jugendzeit...wundervoll :)
Was für eine Band! Wunderbar!!!!
A masterpiece...
Absolutely. They are awesome. Saw them in '82. Great concert
One of my favorite bands. Saw them 20 times or so. They never did disappoint. Sadler is a great frontman.
Saga is one of my favorites. I loved playing along and playing those chops.
i got the vinyl albums even in Estonia! and really what a shame so less likes! guys let`s make things better! SAGA forever!!!
Just cool. Seriously. Good band!
One of their very best performances! Great song! Professionalism! ;o))
I feel like I'm the only American that has their albums on vinyl! No one ever knows who I'm talking about here, it's a shame!
I'm not America, but I've lived in the States since 1977. Listened to Saga in my college days. I'm astounded they never made it in this country; they're so excellent
@@spa97229 I have a few friends in the American midwest who are into Prog Rock and followed Saga from early on. Back in the 70s and early 80s, there still were some radio stations in the U.S. that were independent operations and/or DJs had a lot of control over what was played. Perhaps my friends in the U.S.A. lucked-out with a good local stations?
There are a lot of excellent bands that never got the attention in the U.S.A. that they deserved. Here's my explanation, which is not intended as any form of judgement, but merely observation & analysis...
(1) Some of it has to do with the large population & the huge number of American bands that were/are trying to make it big. It's easy for any band to get lost in the crowd.
(2) Another reason is that tastes & playlists were very regional until all the stations got bought up by the big corporations. So word of mouth back then didn't travel everywhere, and some parts of the U.S.A. may not have had many stations interested in playing Saga's music.
(3) Also, so much of the U.S.A. had/has a more conservative mindset than much of Canada & Europe. Consequently, the nation tends to be 'culturally isolationist', so without considerable hype, Americans (on-average) are less quick to embrace change than people in urban Canada or Europe. (N.Y. and L.A. are obvious exceptions) That is reflected in the arts, and
(4) Finally, there is an undercurrent of patriotism in the U.S.A. that leads to a form of 'cultural protectionism', plus a belief that everything American is better (a mis-interpretation of "American Exceptionalism" that was/is pervasive), so many people in the U.S.A. are less interested in looking outside their borders for cultural or political inspiration.
Obviously I don't want to paint everyone in the U.S.A. with the same brush, and there are plenty of exceptions to what I have stated, however, overall, I think these are some of the factors that tend to make it harder for bands from outside the U.S.A. to get a nation-wide, mainstream following there than it is for those bands to 'make it big', in other nations around the world. (an exception...perhaps bands from the U.K.?).
I have a few friends in the American midwest who have been big fans from Saga's first album on, so you're not alone. 😎🙂
You're not and I agree.
I've had the album Worlds Apart on vinyl for about a decade now. New to drag out the turntable and give it a listen.
Weltklasse,immer und immer wieder Gänsehaut,unglaublich!!!!
X x x x w
Great Instrumental Rock. I was born in Puerto Rico and heard them 1980, 1981 and 1982 in Puerto Rico. Thanks for visiting Puerto Rico.

Damals die Party-Alternative zur NDW 👍
I discovered SAGA in 1984, and i love them til now
Times Up was the first song I heard from them
In 1979 in Puerto Rico
1985 on the First Rock am Ring...with Foreigner, U2, Rick Springfield, Huey Lewis, The Alarm, Chris de Burgh, Gianna Nannini, Nightranger, Joe Cocker and so many others. What would I do to stand one more time there at the Nürburg Ring again !
Wowww
ich war auch dabei!
Me encanta Saga, tengo todos sus discos y en directo son realmente sobresalientes.
Bought the first album blind. Had a strong suspicion it would be something special from the cover art and the song titles. And boy was I right. What a time to be alive. The artists poured so much creativity into their music all decade long. The music of the '70s matched the cinema of the '70s in cerebral immersion, while staying accessible. Saga's songs on that first album are so brilliantly conceived and stunningly played. Sadly most music listeners didn't have the chops to recognize Saga's genius. I think there's a lesson there for those of us that did. Maybe such stirring music *can't* be understood as such by most ears. It's sad, because this band never received their full due. But for us as individuals . . . well, I think we can be damn proud of our discriminating tastes.
Robert Ballot Well said!
One of the first videos on MTV .very special to me and my Dad
@@williamneedham245 I'm glad you caught it. As an avid MTV watcher in those early days, I know it came and went pretty quickly and I don't think it made it to more than medium rotation. I already was a huge Saga fan by then, discovering their first album in the record store bins and taking a flyer on it. I found it incredibly impressive, second track to last (first was no better than so-so and left me wondering whether I'd like the rest on first listen). So when "Don't Be Late" made it to MTV I felt both pride and immense happiness that they had more majestic music in them. Took a long time to find Silent Knight, however, in record stores. Saga had gone dark for me for three years. In those days there was no way of knowing about album releases other than the radio and what the stores carried. So you can imagine my surprise to learn that two more albums had followed the debut. Eventually found it in a record store in Syracuse, where I went to college. Didn't take that warmly to it for a long time (inner sleeve sucked and that always, subliminally, was part of the experience for me). But now I really do like it. I don't have Images of Twilight anymore, but I remember feeling, it too, was a big step down from the first album. How I would love for time to have proved me wrong on that one too. Should seek it out.
Brings back wonderful memories !!!!!!
SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SONG!!! LOVE SAGA! Thanks, 97 ROCK, Houston TX for introducing these guys in my world.
Saw them live 1985 at the Rock am Ring Festival, 80'000 people. What a great show it was...
Under the radar, so many great songs.
i love this song ,and the band !
Great video, nice to see SAGA play in front of such an adoring crowd. I like their live sound, they have sounded great in concert for 40 plus years, plenty of bootlegs for the fans to collect. Long live SAGA !!
Heard them in Oslo Norway in the 80's. Have a lot of cd's and dvd's. I played in a band inspired of Saga. Love them 🎼🎶😊😊
Immer wieder geil, SAGA, kenne ich live.

I think that all the people posting here may agree with me : without Saga, Dream Theater would not exist : obvious influence here. Extraordinary song.

So cool: I was there, Mannheim is my Hometome, 1 day after my Birthday... 22.11.2007, my 25 years aniversary as A SAGA fan... SAGA playd almost every year around my Birthday in Mannheim and i nearly missed none of them... Great to find this concert on UA-cam...
I'd like to know from a German fan, why was Saga such a hit in Germany?
ben vad
Because they had that uniquely magical sound, that seemed to fit the time and the spirit back then. All at once, pretty much everyone I knew, listened to them and I got swept away as well. I guess it was just the right time and the right setting for a band like this. And now - 30 years later, I still get chills when I hear their music, because it seems to be part of the soundtrack of my life. Except now - more than back then, I seem to have a sudden understanding of the intelligence and artistic craftsmanship that lies in their work.
MarlowCpt Funny as a Canadian they were almost unknown. Sad really.
Das ist Kindheit die hab ich soooo lange nicht mehr gehört bestimmt schon 7 Jahre mein Vater hat Saga immer gehört.
