    Excellent, clear and easy to understand video! Instead of paying an appliance repairman $200, I purchased a belt and drum bearing kit for a total of $25! Thanks so much!

    Thanks so much. This video made my repair job a piece of cake. I ordered my parts on line and to my surprise they arrived the very next day.Got the dryer up and running in less than an hour. Thanks again!

    I like that they showed him struggle a bit to get the drum out. That is what us plebeians tend to struggle with as well!

    Thanks for the video! First time attempting to find out why my dryer was screaming at me in this high pitched voice, pulled it all apart, cleaned everything with air compressor by back door, and put new lube on bearing and race, runs like a new dryer, and only took me less than 1 hours, thanks again for the video, made it much, much easier...

    Thanks for the instruction. Saved me buying a new dryer and remodelling the area where laundry is as I cannot get that size dryer anymore.

    Thank you, just fixed our dryer, it was pretty easy, and it works like a dream. We bought a $40 maintenance kit for our model from a local appliance store vs paying $170-$180 to a repair man, thank you!!!!!

    All tho this was very helpful my dryer was slightly different. I had to take the front control panel off as well...and the smaller panel at the bottom of the door. I had to tilt the dryer back. ... all is well.
    This video was very helpful non the less.
    Thank you for such a good post!

    We unfortunately don't have instructions on disassembling a stacked unit. I would recommend using Google to find instructions on the initial disassembly.

    Having trouble attaching the ball hub to the drum because you're just one man? take a small machine bolt and thread it through the hub and the drum. Screw the nut on enough on one or two of the three screw holes to the point that you can screw one of the regular screws in place but don't tighten too much. Remove one of your bolts and repeat with the second screw. Then the third. Finally, when they're all three in place, screw down tightly.
    I never knew it even had a grounding bearing. This was an older dryer, doesn't look very pretty but is still going. Grounding bearing kit and heating element was around 40 bucks. Easy to put on and way cheaper than a new dryer that will die in a couple of years.
    Never under estimate the power of aluminum tape! Get stuck, think how you can use it to temporarily hold something in place.
    While you're at it, take a broom from the dollarstore and wisk out the extra lint and there will be lots of it. Cover your motor up first.

    Definitely could be. We would recommend putting your dryer's model number into a Google search and finding a diagram of parts. You will then be able to locate where the spacers should be.

    I am having trouble getting the old plate off. I do not want to strip the screws in the process. Any ideas or thoughts on how to do this safely.

    Hi, we just replaced our belt on an old kelvinator dryer. It works now, but there is a horrible scraping noise (I think I remember this noise starting before my belt broke). The drum spins but seems to catch and it slightly "leans" forward. I'm thinking the plastic drum spacer is missing. We didn't take a spacer off but there was a yellow plastic piece in the floor of the dryer. Any thoughts?

    Hey anyone have problems putting the tiny little silver ball in the hole of the white plastic piece?? Try to put the main unit in the plastic housing and the little bearing ball just falls out.Isn’t it suppose to fit in that hole?

    If all repairs where this easy. Unfortunately they well never be. Yesterday ironically enough I was working on this same exact dryer. It was on a closet which made my job a living hell had to replace the bearings on this f****** thing and took me about 2-3 hours to do the job.

    Any reason why the holes in the hitch aren't pre-threaded? Can't for the life of me get the mounting screws to completely sit flush in the hitch. Design flaw or elective cost reduction on manufacturing the part? I'd be willing to pay extra for this hitch to be threaded for the screws.

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  9 років тому +1

      We have found that it is much easier to pre-thread the screws in the bearing plate before you actually try installing it. It is still not easy but at least you have more leverage and control because it’s right in front of you. Hope this will help. The part has been manufactured this way for years.

    • @austinclark4036
      @austinclark4036 9 років тому

      I'm not sure how to do that, so I ultimately just went with the older hitch. Was disappointed with the difficulty of installation with the hitch, but the cup worked well and my problem is fixed

      I just bought the bearing kit and it’s now pre-threaded.

    Those bearings can be a major pain. Add the dryer being in a closet... sorry!

    • @southernguy35
      @southernguy35 3 роки тому +1

      Take a piece of aluminum tape and put that over the bearing. Put the two screws in and attach the plate on the back with some aluminum tape too. Make sure that the slit below the metal bracket is free. Screw it in enough that the bearing makes contact. Take a set of needle nose pliers and possibly a metal pick to remove the aluminium tape. It should come fully out. The only possible problem you can have that I had was the back bracket didn't want to catch on the screw because it wasn't made very well. Look at the old bracket and compare to the new. One side of that thread should be flatter. If you have it on and can't get it off, take a flathead screwdriver to lightly tap it down with a hammer. It may or may not fully screw in.

    I want to know how in the hell you are supposed to hold the bearing on the outside of the drum while screwing it from inside the drum, my arms aren't eight feet long. Something your video seems to show being very easy, NOT

      Take the lid off the dryer. Takes 10 seconds. Took me 10 minutes to arrive at that conclusion, though, because I was stuck like you!
