    Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am a senior citizen that is under quarantine with a 13 year old dryer with a bad bearing. The noise was horrible. I watched your video to diagnose the problem. Then I ordered the part which arrived in a few days. It took me two (2) hours from start to finish, including time to watch the video again before I started. The hardest part was treading the new plate. I actually cornered a worker in the neighborhood to help. He used a drill with a square bit on it and threaded the new plate with the old screw. I also used painters tape to hold the plate on the back when I attached the new bearing assembly; my arms aren't long enough to reach the back of the dryer while inserting the screw to the inside of the drum. All fixed and very quiet.

    Seriously. What a great video. I was getting crazy grinding metal sounds from my Frigidaire dryer. Ordered the kit from amazon for about $23 ( before I saw their video otherwise I would have ordered it from them ), followed their video and viola, my dryer is working perfectly and QUIETLY... An easy fix and it also made me realize how simple dryers are. Thank you so much AppliancePartsPros.

    Very helpful video! It may be 7 yrs old, but my Frigidaire had the exact same drum kit. My bearing lube dries up recently and the drum's ball shaft ate away into the plastic housing, eventually grinding into the metal bracket. Now she's good as new! Saved me $800!

    The new big bearing plate I installed today, 12/16/2017, came with machine threaded screws and the plate was pre-threaded. Things have changed a little and any new viewer should look at their new parts. Don’t ruin the new plate by trying to use the old screws or by making new threads. The advice given in the video was great advice when it was made but the new parts are different. Look at the new parts and be careful to use the new machine threaded screws and the pre-threaded holes in the plate. Many thanks for this wonderful video.

      Bruce Coy It looks like you Referred to this video recently… It says four days ago. I see you some other comments that say the kit was now pre-threaded and not to use old screws. I have an older FDE216RES1. Not quite the same but you got me through it!
    At 4:32 you took off the bracket support. The support on mine does NOT have a lip on it so the bracket doesn’t actually support the drum.
    The front panel slides into the drum for support. I looked on your website but don’t see anything like it.
    Can your people let me know the correct part for this model?

    I have a Frigidaire dryer that makes a rumbling noise after it runs for about 10 minutes. I bought a new bearing replacement kit but the bearing has a protrusion coming out of the end where it would come in contact with the ball bearing. My old bearing had an indent where the ball would rest. Is this a defective part?

  • @ckms901
    @ckms901 Рік тому

    Thank you very much, this video helped a lot to replace the bearing of the fridgedaire dryer. One quick question, at the end of it I noticed that small ball bearing seems to little out & to the side, may be because I have tightened those screws hard. Dryer works fine, but wondering if that is going to affect the speed of drum or break down the line. Appreciate any suggestions on it.

  • @chrischiesa3253
    @chrischiesa3253 Рік тому

    My dryer is a Frigidaire of a slightly different model than this. After taking the drum out, I find there are two different kinds/colors of grease in the main bearing: a light grayish around the entire outside of the base of the shaft, and black on the big ball itself. Is that just degradation after years of runtime, or should I be concerned that I'm going to need to lubricate these two different places with two different greases?

      We decided to replace the belt for that exact reason. The old one didn't seem too worn, but for $10 for a new belt especially while the whole thing was torn apart we figured it was worth putting a new one in so we didn't need to take it apart again just for a belt.

    I have fixed my stackable washer dryer and replaced this part twice. Once because the ball joint assembly was gone and the second time was just for precaution since I had to disassemble it to clean it and to tighten up some screws. Anyhow, my question is, what in the hell is that small little bearing for! Does it have a purpose at all? I mean, it is not a grease hole so what does it do???? Great video by the way!

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  8 років тому

      +Jaime Venegas Glad the video helped you get the dryer fixed! The bearing is like a spacer, it keeps the drum from sliding front to back while it is running.

    • @Toolmamon
      @Toolmamon 8 років тому

      Ah!!! Ok!!! Thanks! You know, I have a stackable washer/dryer and the dryer hangs a little from the front so the pads on the bottom don't actually touch the support frame located on the door. The washer works fine but I just noticed this now that I replaced the rear bearing kit and put it back together again. Should it be a concern? Thanks!

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  8 років тому

      If the front support glides are worn it will cause the front of the drum to drop and you may have a gap that clothes can get pinched in.

      You can replace the belt and pulley while it's apart if you want and if it looks worn. When someone has specific questions, we direct them to call us because a single part can be compatible with hundreds of different appliances. The number on the outside of the technician envelope inside the dryer is not listed in your parts list for this video although I use this video to remove everything. 134682100 is what is printed on the envelope, is that not the dryer model maybe it's something else.

    my Kenmore laundry center had some tremendous squeezing, just today it made a big thud and the drum locked, now I can't spin the drum by hand or electrically. do you think the bearing count still be the issue, thanks:)

      Assuming it is the style like the video. If it was squeaking for a long time the ball may have been cut off, without being supported the back half of the drum fell.

    my dryer drum hangs a little downward causing a gap between the drum and front panel at bottom and sometimes getting clothes stuck in gap. Will this bearing kit straighten out the drum and fix the gap?

      I'm not a professional repairman, but I would assume that a worn rear bearing would widen the gap at the top, in the front of your dryer. That nylon guide in the front top would be my best guess. Hope this helps.

      This and the front felt seals are the most common cause of that. I would check the front and the rear to be sure the tub is sitting correctly.

    Is there a part number for the plastic drum support you remove at 4:35? Mine doesn't hook under the drum like that, and I can't tell if it's broken, or just different. Naturally it's not on any of the parts diagrams I can find.

      I also need a replacement for this part! Diagrams and countless search term combinations have gotten me nowhere. Not having this part is the only thing keeping me from having a functioning dryer again.

    Hi: Is this procedure more or less the same with the gas model?

    • @warmdaddy4233
      @warmdaddy4233 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, I just replaced my squeaky drum bearing last night and I have a gas dryer. You just obviously don't detach the gas-line hose. You also have watch how far you move the dryer to get access to the back so you don't break the connection site for the gas line. Otherwise, procedure exactly the same.

      That white piece is actually not a part the manufacturer gives us a part number for. It's actually not required on the unit, it's something they put on at the factory for more support during shipment.

    very useful video. I'm getting a refund tomorrow and cancelling the delivery on monday. I'm gonna squirt some oil onto the bearing from the rear hole.

      Well I bet that didn't work. The nylon cup that the bearing sits in wears down and then it is metal on metal. Properly replacing the bearing will allow it to be quiet for another 10+ years.
