Thanks for watching the video. Please let me know what page in Taylor's book African Rifles and Cartridges you found that information. I was reading what he wrote exactly on pages: 194 -195. Thanks again for watching.
@@riversgunkingdom5360 You read what he wrote. But "the .22 Savage" he's referring to in the passage you quoted is an obsolete center-fire cartridge that shot a 70 grain, .227" bullet.at around 2,790 fps, The .22 Savage is a cartridge like the .250 Savage, the .300 Savage, and the .303 Savage. Writing "my .22 Savage" is NOT the same as writing "my Savage .22". One phrase is a precise definition, the other is not, and Taylor is pretty precise with his language in African Rifles and Cartridges.
For target shooting, I'd rather shoot .17 HMR than ..22 LR, personally. Yeah, it costs more, but it's worth it. ;) My rifle is a Savage 93R17 GV. If I were to buy a .22 LR rifle, it would be a Savage Mark II G.
Would like to see something on the Savage Mark II F .17 Mach 2 bolt action. Lots out there using the Savage A17 HM2 but can't find much on the Mark II F or the FV in .17 Mach 2; also known as 17 HM2 I just like shooting bolt action. But do have a Savage A .22 LR. and pretty good shooter. But to me just something special about shooting a bolt action. My favorite is my Mark II TR comes with a hard wood Tactical stock and a 22" Heavy Barrel. and even with my old eyes can get dime size groups at 35 yards ( that is all five rounds completely covered no ragged edges stick out past the dime.) That is using CCI standard velocity target rounds. One of these days I will break down and buy some match grade ammo and see if I can get them, all five in one 1/4" hole.
Thank you for the suggestion! I just now found this message so sorry for the delay. My friend John has been wanting to buy a .17 and I will mention to him about the Mark II F or FV, HM2. This would make a great video! So thank you for your suggestion. Let me see what I can do. Thank you for supporting the channel.
The BDC reticle IMO is good for range shooting but not hunting. How often are you at the set ranges (75,100,125) while hunting? Wouldn't work for head shooting squirrels (1.5"), having to Kentucky windage it for in between ranges. (Not that you can see a squirrel at 100 in the woods)
Yes I agree! In fact I just uploaded 2 new videos explaining that about squirrel hunting. I hope you can watch them when you have time. Thanks for leaving a comment and thank you watching! River
I am getting back with you on your question of the weight of the Savage Mark II BV with the scope and the entire weight of the gun and scope weighs: 7.74 lbs. Hope this helps! Thank you again for watching our video! River
Thanks for your question. Never had any issues during chambering with rounds we have used with the Savage. I do have a Marlin 39A that does not chamber hollow points all that well. Are you using hollow points in your savage ....if not what brand of .22 LR are you using? Thank you for watching!
I have always used CCI because I think they have a better fail to fire rate than other brands I have used. I think my issue is related to the magazine but I often have rounds jam against the bottom of the chamber. I have the base model synthetic Mark II. I don't know if the chamber is different from the upgraded rifle in the video.@@riversgunkingdom5360
Thanks for letting me know the brand of ammo. We have had great success with CCI ammo but I will forward your concern to my friend John Bowser that is in the video with me and get back with you. Thank you.@@gregdonahue7987
Here is John's reply to you: " I've never had problems with any shell might be your clip or something is going up too far?" Keep us updated with your issue with chambering and I will also do some research.
Yes, I found the lawsuit against Remington for their defective trigger. This could most likely be the reason for Savage adding the "Trigger Lever Safety" to their new rifles. I have currently a Ruger Precision Rimfire model 8404 and it has the "Trigger Lever Safety" also. Thanks for bringing that to our attention and thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video.
Good job and information.
Thank you for the compliment and your support of the channel!
I absolutely love all rim fires. That was some good shooting with that little savage. Thanks for the video..
Thanks for watching and letting us know you liked the video! John is a great marksman and brings a lot of information to the channel. Thanks again!
I just bought the mark 2 I love it. Great gun for the price
Awesome! Glad you're enjoying your new Savage rifle...thanks for letting us know and thank you for watching the video!
Beautiful gun, my plan is to get one soon.
I will let John know! I need to add one to my collection! Thanks for watching!
Taylor referred to the .22 Savage Hi Power (70 grain soft point at 2,790 fps) used to kill a tiger, not a .22 LR.

Thanks for the comment. The .17 is actually John's next rifle and we plan to do a video soon. Thanks for watching!

Subsonic 22 out of a bolt...hearing safe?
Yes! No ear protection needed! Thanks for the question and thank you for watching!
How heavy is it with the stock and scope?
Thanks for the question! I will have the gun with the scope weighed tomorrow and get back with you. Thanks for watching the video!

I didn't read your reply closely enough. I am using hollow point. I will try with RN and see if it makes a difference
I have a Henry lever action 22
I think that trigger lightning is what gave remington a bad name for its saftey failing on there rifles. JMHO

Who the hell are you Mark Twain
I have a good information but your videos are way way too long
Thanks for your feedback and will make adjustments to shorten the videos in the future. Thank you for watching.
Are you kidding me
