I would love to see another "what I spend in a week" video with this kind of lifestyle where you don't have a primary home. Interested to see how you save money and how much it really costs. Anyways love the vids.
I totally agree that this kind of travelling lifestyle is great for your videos. As a viewer (from the other side of the world), it's exciting to guess where you'll go next, and to experience these places through your videos. Also let's face it, most of us will eventually settle down with a partner and maybe have kids, so you better make the most of this nomad life while you still can! You go girl!
You need to go to NY in January to see if you REALLY like the cold 🥶 I lived there all my childhood into adulthood and I'm glad I live in LA now. I'll visit the snow/cold but I don't want to live in it lol
If you really wsnt to experience winter in NY Jan or Feb is more realistic. Dec in NY is more like a Christmas spectacular so it's much better than Jan or Feb.
Actually I like December not that unbearable cold and nonstop snow storms maybe some occasional snow now and then but not crazy like Jan to March last year literally spend every week shoveling snow.
FWIW - Many years ago, after moving from NY to San Jose, I found myself thinking I'd made a mistake. I lined up some NY job interviews and took a week of vacation to go back and prepare for my return. Fortunately, I went back in early February and spent my week stuck in snow, ice and freezing winds... ...I remembered WHY I had headed to California!! 🙂I happily returned to CA and from then on, if I ever "missed" NY, I would simply go stick my hand in my Freezer's ice cube tray for a few moments. After that I rarely ever went East again. I LOVE NY, but I'm a Californian now.
😂 I can sympathize. I moved to La almost 15 years ago, but I grew up in NY I miss out on a lot of family events that I can’t always get back for. But I would hate to move back and deal with NY weather and crowds.
Hi Shelby, Have fun on the cruise! I would recommend you pay attention to the fire and lifeboat drill that they do typically the first day. Safety on ships is SUPER important and you really need to know how to put on a lifejacket, where your lifejacket is kept, where your muster station is and how to evacuate on the lifeboat. I think people gloss over this drill because people are ready to start having fun! Anyway, I am a professional mariner who has sailed on huge ships, Have fun! Cant wait to see your vlog about it.
I just booked a solo 36 hour trip from Houston to NYC next Monday to see the Rockefeller tree. It’s always been a dream to see the city during the holidays!
I’d say write down what you like and don’t like about NYC and LA and see what you like most out of both cities, like costs, weather experiences, shopping, activities, etc. If things in one city outweigh the other city, then go with that. I think that’d be a good idea for a main channel video!
Come on she knows...she just needs to have content. No way she's leaving LA unless she moves to Vegas like the other content providers are doing. You couldn't pay me to live on either coast.
@@RoboRope Yep. NYC is great for a few years max, then you feel like you've seen and done everything you wanted to in that city's bubble and the negatives really start to get to you and for these influencers, they'll realize they prefer their old LA lifestyle more. If you have family there and lifelong friends, that's different. Similarly if you work in a field where more of those jobs are in NYC over LA. But for those influencers moving from LA to NYC recently, it is most likely about them trying to boost their views and subscribers and once they feel like they got the most of NYC for that, will move somewhere else, many back to LA.
Great vlog Shelby and appreciated your thoughts on the differences and such too. I doubt the South Africa wedding will happen with the travel restrictions and such. But I'm really looking forward to the cruise vlog though, sounds interesting!
I'm going to a plane to Hawaii here soon and I haven't been on a plane in about 10 years so I'm a little anxious. Been rewatching some of your travel vlogs to pump myself up about how fun it's going to be to fly again
Yes totally sunny weather. Buy in LA, rent when your nomad for videos?! Or buy in NY and leave in winter? Something like that. I think the travel aspect probably is very helpful to get the creative juices going and get random innovative ideas!
Hope you are still able to come to SA Shelby🤞 your description of warm weather year round in LA is legit the weather here!!! We can’t help we have great scientists who picked up the new variant first 👩🔬 🤷♀️
Have you been to Charleston? Might be a cool place to live unless you’re just set on big city living. Is your trip to S.Africa in jeopardy with Omicron Covid?
Few thoughts. New York in December is not the actual winter or coldest time. I would say January and February are the worst. It’s slushy and gross in my opinion. Also, the “outbreak” in South Africa with the omicron variant generally isn’t much worse than the outbreaks we have in the states. South Africa was just the first country to detect and tell other countries about the new variant. It doesn’t mean that the variant started there and there are credible theories that the variant started elsewhere but since a large population of epidemiologists are in South Africa they actually test to see which strain of Covid people have. This is similar to how the “Spanish” flu most likely started in Kansas but only Spain was warning other countries of it. Omicron variant is already in LA, NYC, SF (cities that test large amounts to see which strain). I’m no expert but I do recommend looking into CDC and WHO recommendations and suggested studies.
It kinda takes forever to get anywhere in any major city! I live in SF & it’s only 7mi by 7mi but it still takes me damn near 30 mins to go like 3-4 miles 😩
To see if you like NYC in the winter you really should come January/February. December can be a weird month. It's usually a mix of cold and maybe snow once or twice, and 60 degree weather.
Avoid winter You don’t have to feel cold nor shovel snow The warm weather is always a blessing lolol like I got really tired of winter in the Midwest so I’m glad the south and other states have no snow
I took a picture in front of that hotel one time, and there is a white mist in the picture. I'm convinced it's Judy Garland, or someone from the old Hollywood days.
OMG Brennan's ! I haven't thought of that place in a million years. I think even 2006 ish the turtle thing was a bit odd. I can't believe they still have them.
Where in LA do you go for eyebrow threading? I used to go to Thread on Melrose, but I'm looking for somewhere else cuz they really raised their prices after Covid.
After you talked about why you like LA, I feel like you would LOVE somewhere like Austin, Nashville, or Charlotte NC. You may even like Scottsdale, AZ too.
What part of NC did you visit? I live outside Raleigh (Cary) & it's 2hrs to the beach, & 3-4ish hrs to the mtns. It's a beautiful state, & Raleigh/Apex/Cary have all been rated the #1 place to live several times, & always ranked very high. It's nice, & I love all the trees around here, + there are lots of hills, so driving can be fun!
My vote is for NYC. I also am from Seattle, I’ve lived in LA for six years and am no longer a fan. I’ve been to New York several times (flying there tomorrow for four days) and I just love New York. The walkability, the energy, everything. If my boyfriend wasn’t born and raised in Hollywood, NYC is where I’d be:)
I agree with Shelby about the nomad lifestyle - she should NOT buy a house anywhere until she wants to get married and start a family. Then stability is important for their sake. But when you hear the call of open road, stay wherever life takes you and do what you want to do. Sounds like being a female Jack Kerouac is right up her alley. If that’s what she really wants to do, the last thing Shelby should be doing is feeling tied down by convention because everyone does it.
I don't think that's true, not since Titanic days at least. By law, the rest of the 100% is made up of life rafts, such as rigid or inflatable ones. It shouldn't put you off cruises.
I am a sun gurl as well. Sunshine ☀️ is my added daily energy. Luv what u r doing right now just hope u don’t get tired of living out of a suitcase 🤣. Ugh, hate this “new” covid variant. B cautious of ur decisions to travel to South Africa and have fun and safe travels!
Its possible to live permanently out of hotels but you get a P.O Box instead of a real address. In a senior living arrangement, you get an apartment and in some of them, like in a hotel, you get the benefits of a concierge lifestyle. For now, that’s not available to people under 55.
Good video. Since you prefer to be in warm weather I highly recommend staying in Texas for a bit. You would definitely get a lot of good videos and meet awesome people in Austin,Tx. Keep traveling and having fun. Fear only stops you from doing the things you should do. Have a great day.
NYC is so much more interesting than LA! Cooler city, better fashion, and overall feels more creative. Also, snowy city vlogs with all the lights are a vibe I'm here for. California is interesting if you make beachy content, but I would rather see that somewhere else in a travel vlog.

Go to New York in January when it's actually cold and slushy and see if you still like it lol
I was born in NYC in the middle of January many years ago. My mom stayed a couple of extra days in the hospital because it was so cold out.

I used to live in NY. As much as I love it I would never go back to live. LA weather makes me so happy. I don't miss seasons at all.
Do you like vaccine passports and mandates? Both cities enjoy this huge benefit.

That Hotel in LA was seriously amazing. You could just feel the history of the place. Such a cool vibe.
