I followed Brad's advice 2 years ago and picked up a Galaxy Tab S6 Lite when it was on sale. Wonderful that the pen is included with the initial price! The screen is only just started to bleed light at the edges/be brighter than the rest of the screen, but it isn't even horrible yet. Clip Studio Paint has been lovely....except remember to cloudsync your work friends... Lost 2 years of art last month & I'm still emotionally recovering from that!!! Thank you Brad!!
Hello! What can you say about Samsung as a brand on creating tablets? I'm planning to purchase from Samsung in a budget as well. What should I expect on the long run, like lags or the tab getting slow and etc. Thanks
Brad, I must say that you have made this video with lots of love and passion. I LOVE the effort put into these videos! super entertaining 👏 Keep us updated on your videos and I like this one a lot I can't express how did I enjoy it so much...
Thankyou so much!! This video could not have dropped at a better time!! I started looking at digital art products a couple days ago having no clue what products to start with or what does what. This video has made it so easy to understand where to start as a beginner.
Just bought this course on GumRoad. I already own several of your other past courses (Procreate and Affinity Designer), which have ALL been great. Keep up the great work Brad!
Wish these videos existed back when I was first trying to get into digital art. Very informative and good at breaking things down for young aspiring artists.
I have a windows surface pro with a stylus and a few years ago I was using krita, and it was fine but when I found firealpaca everything changed. personally, I cant go back to krita. and firealpaca is perfectly free! its really easy to use for animation, and has a lot of cool brushes. it's fairly easy to get used to and I think beginner friendly? I've been using firealpaca for years, and my friend has too.
I ordered myself a medium sized Huion for 90$ a few days ago. Can't wait until it got delivered. I just started learning to draw at the start of 2023 and I'm really excited to try my hand at digital art!
I have a screen tablet, and I'm planning on getting a non screen one so I just unplugged the hdmi cable and looked at my monitor and I have really good hand-eye coordination
Personally, I use a Huion Kamvas 13. It's a good middle of the road tablet, which has a screen and even some buttons on the side for hot keys, but isn't super expensive. It's just over $200
I've been using Wacom tablets (the old big Intuos 4 and a 13" Cintiq) for most of my life and they're great. Expensive as heck, yeah, but totally worth the price. Buuuut… as soon as a friend lend me his iPad Pro to test it… my god, I loved that thing so much. I saved and bought an iPad Pro 13" on 2018 and been using it ever since. And the best thing: since it's so super portable I can take it anywhere, which ended up in me drawing a lot more, but also in shorter periods of time. Setting up the Cintiq on my old small desktop felt like a burden every time I wanted to draw. But just picking up the iPad and drawing for 10 minutes or 10 hours is so convenient.
Brad you should make a video of Moving from iPad and Procreate to PC and Photoshop tips and tricks. I have the ipad pro and procreate that I love the feel for on the go, but recently a few months ago got the Kamvas pro 22 for my PC and love it but when it comes to digital art on the PC vs the iPad it feels very foreign
Thank you so much for posting these! I’ve been wanting to get into the digital art game. But didn’t know where to start and keep from being overwhelmed. Good video series!
I have 3. And I'm a beginner. I have Wacom Intuos Medium, a Huion Kamvas 13 2.5k and a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022). Why do I have these? I have the Wacom for ages, I used it for doing Whiteboard presentations over Teams for work. Then I bought the Kamvas 13 2.5k and it's amazing! And I love drawing on it, however its a little bit inconvenient. I need to tuck it under my desk when I'm not using it. So, I got the S6 Lite 2022 today! I have CSP subscription and it's the perfect casual drawing tablet. I have found myself just sat in my living room sketching and the CSP experience is almost identical to the desktop. It will also allow me to sketch on my S6 then finish up on my Kamvas.
I'm starting a claymation series, and would like to implement drawings for the backgrounds. Bought a Kamvas 13 to try it out, but my cheap Asus was not keeping up. So you're totally right on the PC for $1k or more. What do you think about a Mac Mini with 16 Ram? Once I get the computer issue lined out, I'm pretty sure I'll sign up for your classes. Great videos and thanks!!
Awesome Upload Thank You!! I'm trying to get Digital, as I Was a successful Artist... But I have lost the use of my right hand, and so I have Still got the ideas, but I have to learn more about Digital Art, so Thank you again!!
This is an awesome video and I can tell a lot of thought went into it. Just wanted to say thank you and *thumbs up* indeed (For new digital artists like me: I chose something in between XP-drawing tablet and for my iPad mini I found a Digiroot Stylus works pretty well and is a cheaper alternative to an Apple pencil. No batteries/charging required and I won't cry as much if I loose it because of the price ;)!
I want to get back into art AND dive into digital art. I already pay for Adobe Creative Suite and I have invested WAY too much into hardware already. I have a Google Pixelbook (great because I have a Google Smart Home & Ecosystem, bad because few programs run on Android rn), I have an older Windows Laptop (it handles Adobe pretty well still) and I have a M1 Mac Mini. I really would like to avoid buying another desktop, laptop, or tablet (I've regretted investing too much in the wrong thing) but on the other hand I don't want to be cheap either (I've learned to regret not investing enough). For someone in my position, what would be the best option?
I love to draw on my samsung tab 7 SFE. My favoriete drawing app to use is sketch book on my samsung tab 7 SFE. Thank you for reviewing these drawing apps😁👍🏾🖐🏾
spent 23 pounds and got a UGEE ( model S640) drawing tablet with a 6 inch active area.. has alot of extra functionality too! im over satisfied with it.
very entertaining and good pointing out the things for people on tight budget, dont always need to get the expensive supplies to work with, saying that I don't know if I could work on anything but a pen display lol 😝
Hey just finally scrounged enough to get a refurbished iPad Pro, it's a 2017 model. Was wondering if the apple pen is the best I can do or if you have an off brand that works just as well, and isn't an arm and a leg.
Man i've always loved your work and it's really clear how much passion you put in these videos, and i can't find anyone doing what you do in such an entertaining way. However i hope i can express a little personal opinion on the characters you animate with adobe animator, because PERSONALLY, and i want to stress that 'cause it could be just me, but personally i find them really inexpressive. (Edit: maybe i found out why i feel this, and that's maybe because voice and animation feel really disconnected) I don't know, if someone has a different opinion and wants to share it with me, please do it, i want to hear other points of view. Anyway i want this to be a constructive comment, really i'm not hating 😁
So glad you mentioned Krita was free on their website. Do wish you had posted the link tho, would have made me more comfortable with the download. (Don't download what you don't know.)
I went for the Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra with the highest memory. It wasn't cheap but it's worth because I'll be using it allot, I'll be watching stuff on the bus to work as well as watching shows in bed and doing art, social media ETC! only question is, should I get a screen protector? I'm getting a case for when I'm lugging it around, is the screen protector a must when is use it for art?
Now I can start my digital art journey. Both of the videos have hepled alot. Thanks Brad.😃😃😃😃😃. But getting any tech where I live will cost twice more than usual🤕😢😢😭😭
I'd love to see a Smackdown video of yours with the Galaxy Book and Surface Pro! My sis is a SAI user and she's in the market for one but not a lot of reviews compares them on the artist side.
Tbh I use Krita as I run Linux and ya don't want to run a super old version of Photoshop through wine. When Krita is 100% free, open source, and works natively on Linux. And since Wacom according to what I know doesn't really have Linux support so I went with Huion since they do have a native Linux driver.
I won't lie I prefer the screenless pads because your hand isn't in the way of the image. I can spend the money on a stronger GPU later. I did buy a Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 because it was on sale at bestbuy. Wait until black friday and you can get it new for probably $549 and open box for even less! It is NOT a long term solution though. As the graphics power is weak! Most likely you want to have a main driver desktop with a screenless pad and then have this just for quick sketches/paints from here to there. It's great to check how the color looks like on a different screen. It is oled after all.
Hey brad! I bought a Samsung S6 2022 version. Thanks to your comments :). Question. I have seen in one of your videos you talked about a drawing app, in which a brush worked like fresh watercolor. But I can't find it again, to look at the name of the program. Could you tell me what was it? THANKS
