Fun Fact: People who are allergic to cats are actually allergic to a protein in the cat's saliva and so when they clean themselves, it gets on their fur and dander and that's what causes the reaction. That being said, some cats produce more of the protein than others thereby making some cat hypothetically hypoallergenic (alternatively you can wash a cat regularly so they don't have to lick themselves but that is not always good for the cat). Certain breeds such as Siberian is among these which looks like the breed of his cat or at least in part. This may be why he doesn't have a problem.

me and my wife are thinking about getting a siberian cat, she is very allergic to them, but not to hypo-allergy cats. plus she loves how maine coon's look. and since a siberian is basically part maine coon part norwegian(?) forest cat. it all works out

@@gustavopauli4591 mm. guess there are different sorts of it. i know that some people just kind of have to work really hard to differentiate the colors, their minds kind of want to merge them.
a friend of mine is colorblind and was sleep deprived once, and while almost falling asleep at work suddenly his brain kind of stopped that process, and the colors separated. and he could spend almost half an hour just running around looking at things before things went back to normal.
he didnt have a lot of customers at seven eleven at night.
he remembers that he also had to ask if the buns that people brought him were pistachio buns or not since he couldn't tell since they had a slight green hint.
and he was like looking at them all amazed like "oh man, they are super different from the normal ones! what is this!"

People with Mild R/G colourbindness like Sean can still tell what the colours are, but they look muted. If you put the two colours together, they morph to look the same until you separate the colours.

If I’m correct, the only cats that are more hypoallergenic are Sphinx Cats. Because they don’t have hair
My Step mom has an animal allergy, furry animals specifically, but she did have a cat for a long time that didnt affect her at all, so I guess some cats are just soulmates for some people.
@@seigwardofcatarina5776 Actually allergic people are not allergic to the hair but to some protein that's in cats' saliva urine and dander (which then gets on their hair when they clean themselves, around the house etc.). Sphinx cats are one of the hypoallergenic cat breeds but there's also the Russian blues, Bengals, Siberian and more but I only remember those 3 for sure ! It's not 100% of course depending on how severe the allergy is I guess.

1:18 - what I've found about cat allergies is that not all cats are the same, I have cat allergies myself and I react to some cats but others are fine! Depends on the breed with how you react
I've heard that in some cases the allergy isn't caused by the cat but by small bugs living in the cat's fur, like mites.
The thing that reacts with allergies in cats is different in all cats and typically black cats have the most possibly inspiring the myth that black cats are evil

@@swordcrab3181 it's mainly caused by dander, dead skin on cats. It can also be caused by fur, saliva, and even urine. Most often it's dander or fur and because it's mostly dander you can get cat breeds that produce less dander and be relatively fine.
Bengal, Burmese, Rex, Russian Blue, Siamese, Siberian, and Sphynx cats produce less dander.
Check on Google if you wanna learn more it's very helpful.

@@TheSpy149 He is, but there's a pretty large spectrum of colorblindness. Lighting and stuff also helps sometimes.
The Spy149 ok ok as a red green colorblind fellow I can vouch here. Certain factors such as squinting eyes, being specifically told what’s there, and backing up REALLY far can help me ALMOST make out an outline of what is there. So he could’ve just heard of it before or other things. Also important is that him and I will never see a colorblind image like that the way other people do, because some dots are just not right. So a clear pikachu to you will look like an unsolved connect the dots puzzle. That’s the best analogy I can give you. Look at a connect the dots puzzle, have someone tell you what it turns out to be, and then u can kinda see it
