I am 48 years old and I absolutely love collecting the Retro collection! Please keep them coming and if you could could you get some Pilots that we never got in retro Kenner Style. It would make my world. Thank you for all your hard work and beautiful action figures.

Please make more unmade figures (which you even made customs of one I see in the video): Sandtrooper, Rebel Fleet Trooper, Captain Antilles, Han Solo Stormtrooper Disguise, Modal Nodes, Removable Helmet Vader, etc., and maybe even the Pit of Carcoon to go with the Barge or the Rebel Blockade Runner ship that was just a Kenner prototype.
I also came up with the original Kenner line. Love the retro collection and would very much love to see more never made OT characters in the Kenner style. Kinda surprised Hasbro hasn’t done a whole wave or three of Kenner style OT figures that were never in the original line. Things like Sandtrooper, Rebel Fleet Trooper, Garindin, cantina band member, Owen, Biggs, Wedge, etc. Perhaps you will change that! I would like to see the Retro sticker reduced in size or eliminated. Exciting stuff!
I recently rediscovered my old Star Wars figures collection. The retro line is perfect for me. I bought my first figures in 25 years! I love both the reissues and the new ones. It's a great line. The Vintage collection looks fabulous too tbh. Very impressive details.

With the TPM wave, the figures look great! I like the unpunched cards AND the fact that there are no ugly white leaflets in the bubble. Wish there was a way to eliminate those completely. In TVC and Retro. Bubble debris!!

Since 1999! Impressive.. MOST IMPRESSIVE! I feel like we just watched an episode of Take Hart but where was Morph! ^^ Very creative video editing, props to you Stevie. Keep making the Retro focused on the OG figures, and please remove the Red Sticker. The box sets are the best way to sell them to consumers, even the double packs are cool. But selling them singularly on a peg, I don't know about that. ps. Can we have a Palitoy Death Star in the Retro Collection, just like the original. Some of the playsets and dioramas from Kenner will sell like HOT CRUMPETS if they were reproduced by Hasbro. Ok, now I'm gonna bugger off and put the kettle on.

Great video Steve! When it comes to the retro sticker I would rather it not be there, or at least make it a little smaller so its more in line with the size of the original Kenner offer stickers. To be honest the faux weathering around the cards bothers me more! While I am a TVC collector first and foremost I will always have a soft spot for the Kenner style figures and would love to see more of those unmade OT characters make their way into the line, Tarkin and Mon Mothma are my favorite Retro figures to date, more like this please!
I’ve enjoyed Retro since its launch, my only concern is making them easily obtainable, especially at retail. It’s great that this set is available at Target, they’re a solid retail partner, as I’m able to find products there with ease. Numerous collectors missed the ROTJ boxed set with Mon Mothma & Yakface, hopefully more will be made available, since demand hasn’t been met!
There’s nothing rubbish about the vintage “Kenner aesthetic!” It’s glorious in its simplicity. I love the line and will continue to support it! Hey, and why not throw some O-Ring stylings into the Star Wars line; they’d be a mad hit! Oh, but I do agree the stickers have to go. Unnecessary and they take up too much graphic real estate.
I’ll be 54 this October and and I’ve been collecting Star Wars since 1978 when my mother got me the Death Star play set and a few figures for Christmas and I haven’t stopped playing with them . I mean collecting them hehehehe . Anyways I so love the retro line but please no more stickers or a really small sticker . The one that is used now is just to big and please make the back of the card something to look at … I’m also a Big black series fan 857 figs strong but it would be nice for some dioramas or playsets or smaller vehicles for the line please please .. Thank you for all that you do Ed
A treat, as always, thanks for creating these episodes, such inspired fun! This was a gem of a segment, as it reflects your love of the Kenner classics, and boy does this TPM box set tell a “story”, all the characters “fit” for the old school tradition of continuing the adventures. I believe that’s where The Retro Collection can really reward, that original line was so well curated to unfurl a complete world of storytelling and play, hopefully future Retro releases will harken back to that glorious pedigree. For me, the stickers are unnecessary and a burden, at least at their current size, and the weathering might be toned down a bit. My dream for the line is some new Cantina aliens mixed in with those original four rereleased, and a Yavin Luke Skywalker much like your expert custom. And I wouldn’t be against a fun nod to the Early Bird Kit, we need display options for the line, surely there’s inspiration there!!!
Darth Maul was great to get. More Tarkin type figures would be great as well (even a grey uniform officer in a new accessory/playset. NO STICKERS please. :)

Welcome back! Hope we get to see the full '96 for Retro, it's a cost effective way of having a set to display on card. I like the boxset approach, hopefully supply improves, the UK Pulse exclusive OT packs sold out extremely quickly. It's going to look a bit inconsistent if it changes but I'd rather not have the retro sticker (or the distressing really). Good to see the price around £60 for the TPM set, when prices got up to £15 per retro figure not many seemed to be buying them & it was frustrating for those of us that did to see them down to ~£5 in the end.
Me and my buddies have been discussing how awesome it would be if they made star wars VC figures like vader,r2, c3po,chewbacca etc but with the actors heads. How cool would it be to have a darth vader figure with David prowse head. I would totally buy those and so would every collector, he'll even people who Don't collect would buy these.
Steve! find the folder, that has the Retro sticker logo on it, and move it into the trash bin. Then burn the trash bin, set it inside a rocket, and send it directly into the sun! In fact you could lose the fake wear too! I don’t think these will confuse consumers being without either!❤

Love the show! I also love the Retro Line…it’s my favorite modern Star Wars line. Congrats on both. I’m an opener, so stickers and fake card ware don’t bother me. My only pain point is when the figures are boxed as sets. When the figures have been sold separately, I’ve been able to half a dozen to a dozen figures when I’ve wanted to army build certain figures. Is there any way that we could get army builder boxes of generic characters (troopers, Jawas, tuskens)?
Get rid of the stickers!!! I use lighter fluid to remove them from mine. Hate the stickers! LOVE the line! Especially stuff from the original six movies! Tarkin and Mon Mothma are GREAT!!!
Love the retro line. Wanna sell more? Go back to OT and do figs that were never realised. Ditch the HUGE retro sticker and stop the fake wear. Watch sales rise. Oh, and do retro vehicles, too. You can thank me later xx
Get rid of the Retro sticker and the faux weathering. And please more unreleased OT figures; Han in Stormtrooper disguise, Sandtrooper, Leia in ewok village dress, Luke Dagobah training, and on and on... Plus would be nice to get another thing like the action display stand (possibly minus the action feature) with maybe different backgrounds to display the various Retro lines on. Maybe make one stand and include multiple cardboard backgrounds of Empire, Jedi, TPM, Mandalorian, etc...
KEEP THE STICKER! That's the point of "retro", to differentiate it from TVC. For the "card lovers", then THE VINTAGE COLLECTION IS THE WAY! I expect all retro figures to end up on TVC card at one point anyway (Mon Mothma, NED-8..., I'm waiting). For those who want to remove the sticker they can use lighter fluid like all collectors do to remove stickers. KEEP THE STICKER! And focus more on TVC, I don't need too much retro, thank you !
‼‼‼PLEASE use thicker cardboard for the cardbacks, the majority are almost always warped - loose the "Retro" stickers, and release more of the ROTJ wave ‼‼‼
Please get rid of the stickers on Retroi and the weathering. Also, I hope some POTF Retro is planned for 2025 for the 40th anniversary of POTF. With POTf '85, it's not just a matter of price. All of the bubbles are yellowed (or will yellow). I would love to own a licensed, clear bubble POTF Luke Stormtrooper replica, but without the sticker and weathering. I would order it by the case.
So Steve when you say "Classic" you do not just refer to OT but also to PT and the overall Lucas era of content? Because when I hear Classic I always think you talking about OT - but if you refer also to PT us TVC collectors would love some PT love
Why did hasbro bother making a new 4 inch line. Kids Don't play with toys anymore. It's just us adult collectors. I got back into collecting when my son was born 20 years ago. I bought him everything star wars. He was only ever interested in lego star wars. Now all the toys I bought him are mine. I love the vintage collection. I wish the retro collection just origanal star wars characters we never got
I'd like to get rid of the retro stickers on the front of the card. I also would love to see (Collect them All!) photos of figures on the cardbacks instead of all the overdone legal jargain in several different languages. It's more mentally enjoyable marketing to look at photos.
When you say new never before made figures just like it was 1985, I automatically think OT figures because that's what Star Wars was in 1985. So far, Hasbro has made only 3 new never before made figures like it was 1985, being Tarkin, Snowspeeder Luke, and now Mon Mothma. Makes me scratch my head. Why isn't Hasbro actually making Cantina Aliens, Sandtroopers, Rebel Fleet Troopers, X-Wing Pilots, Yavin Luke for the retro line, instead of for new media and the prequels? Prequel kids collected modern figures in 1999, and the 30 years olds I know collect TVC, not retro. But us old farts, want new OT figures in that retro style. That 40th ROTJ pack is sold out everywhere. Imagine if you made a 6 pack of cantina aliens with blue snaggletooth. You would not be able to keep it in stock anywhere. And everyone agrees ditch the sticker. It's not needed to distibguish the new from the original. A the cards are different, B, the original datestamps are missing from the figure. Anyways love the content Steve, thanks for all you do for the hobby.
The Stickers ruin the art (main feature of the retro card) and make me feel like you think we are daft. We know they are Retro by looking at the figure. You recognized the power (and $$$), so why not crank the nostalgia all the way up to 11 and give us clean cards and _all_ the characters. Seems obvious, no?
Who designed the card the back why no figures why not like original? Who added the sticker ? Needs doing properly,as a graphic designer love original it is painful and better card stock figures wanted and with a game why ? Keep the sticker unused at the back of the figure. Remove the wear lines ,especially for figures that have never been released. Don't make ridiculous figures like this Obi Wan that has a turd showing up as soon as he is declining by his head. Include Robes for every Character that has one. There is really no need to do an extra figure ,just to include a lousy robe/accessory. Hasbro wouldn't even finish 50% of the Cast in another 40 years. So really no need to do unnecessary extra figures, that nobody wants to buy. Start to indicate that Action Figures are something visual and not a book. Therefore get rid of these dumb warnings at the back of the card.
I bet those who say "no sticker" and "no aging card" are not buyers of TVC or the new media anyway. They are mostly collectors in their 50's that rejected the Prequel Trilogy and then the Sequel Trilogy. I bet they just want their "original 96" to be redone the same (although most have those already from back in the day) and then quit collecting. This is not how you build a viable fanbase. They are the most vocal but are, in my opinion, terrible opinion makers. Mr Stevie, bear in mind the Prequel lovers and Sequel likers (yes ! There are! I use "like" instead of "love" to avoid controversy), they are NOT into "Retro", as it means nothing for them, and they don't understand the appeal of proposing an inferior figure. As a kid who grew up with Kenner figures myself (I turned 50), I vote in favor of TVC as I also recognize the risk of having "Retro" replacing "TVC". Doing "Retro 6-packs" is ok as an occasional "one-off", but TVC should be the main focus for new figures and in worst case scenario, the sole remaining 3.75 line. Thank you.
But how is nostalgia captured by creating 5 POA versions of figures whose initial releases in 1999 had more than 5 POA? I am a prequel kid through and through, yet this set does not create nostalgia for me whatsoever because the design of the 5 POA versions predates the prequel era. For example, the Retro Kenobi in this set has 5 POA - the first Phantom Menace Kenobi had 6 POA due to the swivel waist. Retro should only be referencing the Original Trilogy because Retro's figure design exclusively harkens back to the 70s and 80s. Applying toy design from the 70s and 80s to media from the 90s onward does not respect the advances in figure design over time, and makes one wonder to what extent Retro's viability as a whole is more or less dependent on big box retailers preferring cheaper toys in their stores while sacrificing quality. Continuing to produce Retro figures whose design predates the media in question is akin to producing a future King Kong movie with Ray Harryhausen stop motion.
Valid points. Granted. Lots of different fans of different ages in this nearly 50 year old story. 1999 saw lots of fans that weren’t kids at the time that grew up with OT who still had a deep love of the Kenner aesthetic. So I believe it all cool. We also have produced more modern but non-super articulated sculpted prequel figs. But I can see an option to possibly ‘redo’ 90s / 00s figs to reflect a younger generation that’s now grown up. The baton is always being passed. Thanks for your thoughts. Oh and I would kinda dig a modern Kong with old skool stop motion.
I’m not really bothered by the edge/sticker thing (although the sticker size does spoil the photo), it’s the back of the card that needs some attention. Deathly dull 😵

No on stickers, I have peeled them all off to show the artwork. Unfortunately ruined a few card backs in process which I am having to replace

Love the show! I also love the Retro Line…it’s my favorite modern Star Wars line. Congrats on both.
I’m an opener, so stickers and fake card ware don’t bother me. My only pain point is when the figures are boxed as sets. When the figures have been sold separately, I’ve been able to half a dozen to a dozen figures when I’ve wanted to army build certain figures. Is there any way that we could get army builder boxes of generic characters (troopers, Jawas, tuskens)?
Get rid of the stickers!!! I use lighter fluid to remove them from mine. Hate the stickers! LOVE the line! Especially stuff from the original six movies! Tarkin and Mon Mothma are GREAT!!!

Love the retro line. Wanna sell more? Go back to OT and do figs that were never realised. Ditch the HUGE retro sticker and stop the fake wear. Watch sales rise. Oh, and do retro vehicles, too. You can thank me later xx
Get rid of the Retro sticker and the faux weathering. And please more unreleased OT figures; Han in Stormtrooper disguise, Sandtrooper, Leia in ewok village dress, Luke Dagobah training, and on and on... Plus would be nice to get another thing like the action display stand (possibly minus the action feature) with maybe different backgrounds to display the various Retro lines on. Maybe make one stand and include multiple cardboard backgrounds of Empire, Jedi, TPM, Mandalorian, etc...
KEEP THE STICKER! That's the point of "retro", to differentiate it from TVC. For the "card lovers", then THE VINTAGE COLLECTION IS THE WAY! I expect all retro figures to end up on TVC card at one point anyway (Mon Mothma, NED-8..., I'm waiting). For those who want to remove the sticker they can use lighter fluid like all collectors do to remove stickers. KEEP THE STICKER! And focus more on TVC, I don't need too much retro, thank you !
‼‼‼PLEASE use thicker cardboard for the cardbacks, the majority are almost always warped - loose the "Retro" stickers, and release more of the ROTJ wave ‼‼‼

Please get rid of the stickers on Retroi and the weathering. Also, I hope some POTF Retro is planned for 2025 for the 40th anniversary of POTF. With POTf '85, it's not just a matter of price. All of the bubbles are yellowed (or will yellow). I would love to own a licensed, clear bubble POTF Luke Stormtrooper replica, but without the sticker and weathering. I would order it by the case.
So Steve when you say "Classic" you do not just refer to OT but also to PT and the overall Lucas era of content?
Because when I hear Classic I always think you talking about OT - but if you refer also to PT us TVC collectors would love some PT love

The retro sticker doesn't really make sense for figures which aren't reissues of characters which were made in the classic Kenner line
But the sticker makes sense as regard to the style of the figure ! Otherwise how do you differenciate from TVC ?
Why did hasbro bother making a new 4 inch line. Kids Don't play with toys anymore. It's just us adult collectors. I got back into collecting when my son was born 20 years ago. I bought him everything star wars. He was only ever interested in lego star wars. Now all the toys I bought him are mine. I love the vintage collection. I wish the retro collection just origanal star wars characters we never got
I'd like to get rid of the retro stickers on the front of the card. I also would love to see (Collect them All!) photos of figures on the cardbacks instead of all the overdone legal jargain in several different languages. It's more mentally enjoyable marketing to look at photos.
When you say new never before made figures just like it was 1985, I automatically think OT figures because that's what Star Wars was in 1985. So far, Hasbro has made only 3 new never before made figures like it was 1985, being Tarkin, Snowspeeder Luke, and now Mon Mothma. Makes me scratch my head. Why isn't Hasbro actually making Cantina Aliens, Sandtroopers, Rebel Fleet Troopers, X-Wing Pilots, Yavin Luke for the retro line, instead of for new media and the prequels? Prequel kids collected modern figures in 1999, and the 30 years olds I know collect TVC, not retro. But us old farts, want new OT figures in that retro style. That 40th ROTJ pack is sold out everywhere. Imagine if you made a 6 pack of cantina aliens with blue snaggletooth. You would not be able to keep it in stock anywhere. And everyone agrees ditch the sticker. It's not needed to distibguish the new from the original. A the cards are different, B, the original datestamps are missing from the figure. Anyways love the content Steve, thanks for all you do for the hobby.
Dump the stickers. Get thicker cards. Do 6 packs for collectors without the extra languages all over the place, sell them online if you must.

The Stickers ruin the art (main feature of the retro card) and make me feel like you think we are daft. We know they are Retro by looking at the figure. You recognized the power (and $$$), so why not crank the nostalgia all the way up to 11 and give us clean cards and _all_ the characters. Seems obvious, no?

Who designed the card the back why no figures why not like original? Who added the sticker ? Needs doing properly,as a graphic designer love original it is painful and better card stock

Keep the sticker unused at the back of the figure. Remove the wear lines ,especially for figures that have never been released. Don't make ridiculous figures like this Obi Wan that has a turd showing up as soon as he is declining by his head. Include Robes for every Character that has one. There is really no need to do an extra figure ,just to include a lousy robe/accessory. Hasbro wouldn't even finish 50% of the Cast in another 40 years. So really no need to do unnecessary extra figures, that nobody wants to buy.
Start to indicate that Action Figures are something visual and not a book. Therefore get rid of these dumb warnings at the back of the card.
I bet those who say "no sticker" and "no aging card" are not buyers of TVC or the new media anyway. They are mostly collectors in their 50's that rejected the Prequel Trilogy and then the Sequel Trilogy. I bet they just want their "original 96" to be redone the same (although most have those already from back in the day) and then quit collecting. This is not how you build a viable fanbase. They are the most vocal but are, in my opinion, terrible opinion makers. Mr Stevie, bear in mind the Prequel lovers and Sequel likers (yes ! There are! I use "like" instead of "love" to avoid controversy), they are NOT into "Retro", as it means nothing for them, and they don't understand the appeal of proposing an inferior figure. As a kid who grew up with Kenner figures myself (I turned 50), I vote in favor of TVC as I also recognize the risk of having "Retro" replacing "TVC". Doing "Retro 6-packs" is ok as an occasional "one-off", but TVC should be the main focus for new figures and in worst case scenario, the sole remaining 3.75 line. Thank you.
But how is nostalgia captured by creating 5 POA versions of figures whose initial releases in 1999 had more than 5 POA? I am a prequel kid through and through, yet this set does not create nostalgia for me whatsoever because the design of the 5 POA versions predates the prequel era. For example, the Retro Kenobi in this set has 5 POA - the first Phantom Menace Kenobi had 6 POA due to the swivel waist.
Retro should only be referencing the Original Trilogy because Retro's figure design exclusively harkens back to the 70s and 80s. Applying toy design from the 70s and 80s to media from the 90s onward does not respect the advances in figure design over time, and makes one wonder to what extent Retro's viability as a whole is more or less dependent on big box retailers preferring cheaper toys in their stores while sacrificing quality. Continuing to produce Retro figures whose design predates the media in question is akin to producing a future King Kong movie with Ray Harryhausen stop motion.
Valid points. Granted. Lots of different fans of different ages in this nearly 50 year old story. 1999 saw lots of fans that weren’t kids at the time that grew up with OT who still had a deep love of the Kenner aesthetic. So I believe it all cool. We also have produced more modern but non-super articulated sculpted prequel figs. But I can see an option to possibly ‘redo’ 90s / 00s figs to reflect a younger generation that’s now grown up. The baton is always being passed. Thanks for your thoughts.
Oh and I would kinda dig a modern Kong with old skool stop motion.
I’m not really bothered by the edge/sticker thing (although the sticker size does spoil the photo), it’s the back of the card that needs some attention. Deathly dull 😵
