Wow memories! I totally had that R2 coloring book you showed and the bedspread that matched your brothers curtains. I also had a Star Wars soundtrack on 8-track that I wore out jumping on my bed with the Star Wars bedspread. Thanks Junkman for the trip down memory lane!
I've got a small collection of 90s 2000s Star Wars figures. I would not add the vintage line unless they make the card backs at least somewhat like the original card backs, showing an image (or individual images) of all figures.
At my Walmart today they had one each of every figure but Boba Fett. I picked up Luke because I have never had a complete Bespin Luke before. I have Han on preorder. Would have gotten Lando but the bubble was messed up.
I got the entire set including 2 boba fetts.I also have all the originals except the bespin Luke.its fun that they are finally making stuff besides Disney wars junk.
I love the Retro line because they look close enough to the ones from our childhood, but are in better shape in most cases than the ones we maybe still have. Also much cheaper in some cases than finding the original ones today. The blasters are significantly different in color fortunately. They still look just fine though. When I was a kid, I used to put poster tack on the grip of the blasters to help them stay in the figures' hands. Some people really griped about the Retro collection when they first came out, but I pointed out in collectors' groups all the many ways that the cards were very different between original and modern retro. Then, there's the country of origin stamps on the figures themselves which give the difference away. In some cases, the accessories are a bit hard to tell apart, but if you have an original next to a new one, it's easier to tell them apart. Good job!
Wow, I've had that Han for 40 years now, and it never occurred to me to use that strap to hold his gun. One thing similar I did to (that a friend showed me, way back when) is I'd wedge the Stormtrooper gun between Stormie's hand and his hip. That little magazine thing that sticks out of the side of the gun needs to be lined up, so it's right in the palm of his hand. Then, when his arm is straight down, the gun stays put, and looks like it is secured at his hip. Good for when he's displayed guarding doors or whatever.
I'd say one of the easiest ways to tell the old school version of the figures from the repro figures is the stance, or spacing of the legs. There's a very slight change in them. Well, that and the color. Don't forget, flat butt, round butt... And the green wax or melted plastic drips are a great addition to the Junkdesk. It really brings out the Whizzzer top scratch lines. Just fooling around, Junkman. Great video as always.
Tommy Benefield the leg stance is not necessarily a way to tell. As a kid I had the narrow leg stance stormtrooper and my brother had the wide leg stance stormtrooper (I still have both.) I have a few of his (he's no longer around so I will hold onto them for as long as I live.)
I love the retro figures. They’re great for building dioramas with. A lot of folks don’t like them of course. I have a bunch of them. When possible I prefer vintage.
The trick with that sticker is water! Try to peel the edges as much as possible to expose the underneath, and then use a lightly dampened paper towel, and basically scrub it off. Circular motions helps, and try not to get too abrasive, and it should come off pretty clean.
That loop on Hoth Han Solo was never meant to be a holster for his blaster. It’s a retention strap. I get it that as a kid we used it for that purpose but it wasn’t intended.
To anyone that wants that wants the STICKERS OFF. Use Olive Oil. Gently rub some in with ur fingers and wait a couple of minutes. Then gently start to peel away. If its still stuck apply and repeat. Worked on mine.
Hey bud, your videos are great. But just a pointer since you film without a monitor. Before you film turn on your camera and use a little red dot sticker on your filming surface to mark the center of your frame. That has helped me a ton on shoots when I'm by myself. I hope it helps.
I put my self off center so when I place a images on the left side it doesn’t cover me up. as for this video I forgot during it I zoomed in. I even had a frame marker on the desk.
I have a Few of the Retro Figures from I think Mid 2000s with VC Stamped on them abit and one of those Oddly placed too big round jagged star circle on the front of the card ones. Of the few Stormtroopers i have opened and set up all seem to have Standing up Problems , plus their gun hands seem to Grip too small or odd or something too.
Ok am I the only one who has the urge to play with some bottle rockets and launch some action figures !!! Who's with me??? The one thing that i remember is that there was a quite a bit of variance for all the figures. Great vid Junk
I've only had about a 50% success rate with removing those Retro stickers, so now I just leave them on. I've noticed that my Retro figures have an easier time holding the vintage accessories than the Retro accessories they came with. So I wonder if they just made the guns slightly too small.
I wish I could find them! I don't know why I care lol! I have the originals! It's just cool to pick these up in stores again I guess. I hope my area gets them soon.
Junkman, I appreciate the video Looks like it's better to just army build with true vintage stormies Don't mean to run you down, but could you make a video about the differences between regular vintage figures and 'poch' figures?
The retro Stormtrooper. Give it a few weeks. maybe a month. It'll be just as yellow as the original. lol. As for details on the figures being slightly different. like heights, weapons, and weapons not fitting. Its usually down to mold damage/different plastics.Even though the molds are metal. They're also 40 years old, and had thousands of toys molded from them. Add to that, the different plastic, and paint formula's, etc. And it explains ( at least to me ) why these retros aren't exact copies. Which, we should all be thankful for really, considering the prices these things go for. And Han's "thigh gap" issue. Well shit. You have a kids pudgy fingers touching you inappropriately. Dog's mauling you, only to finally being resigned to standing up on a shelf for decades. And your legs'd be spread wider too. Plus, wasn't thigh gap a "thing" a while ago? lmao
After all these years i had a Han Solo Hoth and i didnt know about the holster but i dont think my version does that (yes it is an original i got when i was a kid when empire first came out) maybe the Australian ones were different but i will have to look next time i go home.
Take the vintage gun and put it in the retro Stormtrooper. It worked for me. I ended up getting repro stormtrooper guns in my army build retro stormtroopers and they work perfectly.
I think the vintage is darker due to be handled for 40 yrs with the oil on our human hands, and yes I agree there is no way to pass these off as vintage
I assume they didnt have the original molds. So I wonder if they did a 3D scan of all the figures parts or just made a mold from the original figures parts? and then slightly altered them so they couldn't be passed off as original vintage figures.
Junkman.. you need to put your original Stormtrooper in a ziplock bag full with hydrogen peroxide and leave him out in the sun for a day or two, he will get alot whiter.. I did this for my two original Stormtroopers and my Wampa and they look amazing...
The bubbles on the first wave of the retro collection figures is much better as it looks more like the original's. The second wave bubble looks too modern and spoils the overall look. Maybe becuase they are made in Vietnam now and not China 🤷♂️
Hahahaha at least those trays in the bubbles are nice. The trays in the Black Series line are horrible and can rub the paint off your figures. I guess they just don't make them like they use to.
These might as well be unicorns where I live. Not that we can go to the store anyway since there's a new covid spike after things were opened. I'm not dying for a toy I MIGHT find...
I'm so fed up with Hasbro...It is freakin ridiculous how difficult it is to find and buy the new retro figures. It's complete bullshit and stupid that each store only gets in like one case of them, leaving us all to have to drive store to store to try and find them, while in the end having to turn to Ebay and being forced to pay 3, 4 or 5 times as much if we want them. Why the hell can't we buy from "Hasbro" directly?!! They are losing so much money and sales by not supplying enough stock to the general public. They have taken all the fun out of buying Star Wars & figures. I am just about done with Hasbro. You have lost me and my friends from buying from you anymore. 😡🤬
1:34 watching you open the package gave me a flash back too!
Wow memories! I totally had that R2 coloring book you showed and the bedspread that matched your brothers curtains. I also had a Star Wars soundtrack on 8-track that I wore out jumping on my bed with the Star Wars bedspread. Thanks Junkman for the trip down memory lane!

Junkman, Junkman, Junkman❗❗❗ I just got back from Walmart like 30 minutes ago, and guess what, I found all 6 Retro figures from wave 2...🤗
Lucky!!
@@ThatJunkman Let me know if you want them...👌🏼 I'll give you first dibs...👍🏼💯✔
Awesome

I got the entire set of wave 2 as well and just ordered wave 1
I'm still trying to find the empire strikes back retro collection, no luck yet, nice video Junkman, take care pal!

The Junkman knows his Star Wars stuff for sure! Great job!👍

if hasbro keep going on like this with big blister bubbles and big stickers, one day, we will never see the photo of the actor again !
Great Video Junkman! I have a lot of the originals, but I only have the retro Grand Moth Tarkin
As always thanks for the fix

Next time Junkman try a hair dryer to get the sticker off....heat up the glue.

Glad you got your Fett. 💥👌🏻
Supposed to get 36 of them on the truck to this Walmart today... waiting to see. Got Han Solo Hoth and Lando yesterday.
I got Luke bespin, yoda, Leah hoth, and Boba Fett just now! They went to the back and brought the box of them out.

I heard that if you didn't take that sticker off of the first wave when they came out last year then now they all just wreck the card!
8:41 the vintage one is blue , besides maybe a weight difference too I'd imagine.
I wish I could find them! I don't know why I care lol! I have the originals! It's just cool to pick these up in stores again I guess. I hope my area gets them soon.
I found almost the whole wave at walmart earlier.I just picked up the luke
Junkman, I appreciate the video Looks like it's better to just army build with true vintage stormies
Don't mean to run you down, but could you make a video about the differences between regular vintage figures and 'poch' figures?
No idea what a pouch figure even is :)
@@ThatJunkman Oh ok. That makes me feel a bit better about my knowledge of vintage SW. Can't find a straight up explanation anywhere.
I haven't really been out to be able to find these. Never came across the ones from last year either. And I'm not paying ebay prices for them
The retro Stormtrooper. Give it a few weeks. maybe a month. It'll be just as yellow as the original. lol. Do they make the tusken raider yet? Need a gadaffi stick

They all did that and used the se mold ;)
I'm the same - never knew about the holster 'accessory' until now! Thanks Junkman yoo da bess!
Take the vintage gun and put it in the retro Stormtrooper. It worked for me. I ended up getting repro stormtrooper guns in my army build retro stormtroopers and they work perfectly.
My favorite one was the snowtrooper. That one was bad because he wore a skirt and let's see who's going to tell him off 😜
I think the vintage is darker due to be handled for 40 yrs with the oil on our human hands, and yes I agree there is no way to pass these off as vintage
Nice!
What an incredible smell you've discovered! lol The retro figures look a lot shinier then the originals. And yeah the guns look really off.
I assume they didnt have the original molds. So I wonder if they did a 3D scan of all the figures parts or just made a mold from the original figures parts? and then slightly altered them so they couldn't be passed off as original vintage figures.
Would be shocked they didn’t have the molds
Where did you get your retro stormy ?
Target
Junkman.. you need to put your original Stormtrooper in a ziplock bag full with hydrogen peroxide and leave him out in the sun for a day or two, he will get alot whiter.. I did this for my two original Stormtroopers and my Wampa and they look amazing...
To quote Frank Barone, "Holy crap!"
I never knew you could holster Han's gun. I don't remember this feature ever being shown on any packaging.
for the stikers try WD-40 it will work
JM ! If Han would have holstered his gun Your Way, Greedo Totally would of Shot First ! 🔥👈🏻

I won't be buying these. Too expensive . . . and I have all my vintage figures.
Do you ever watch porn in the junk room? And if so what kind ?
I thought they smelled bad on the outside.
Thats slsum
