Happy birthday Sir. That was a great history lesson one in which I would have loved to been in the classroom. I would have even done homework. Thank you very much and you nailed the bugger off 😂
Happy Birthday Steve! It was one year ago when we won the Haslab Skystriker from you! 😎 I am still not over turning 50 last year. On a positive note, someone thought I was around 35 last week, so that made my day. Ah, the Kenner Droid Factory. I remember my grandmother would go to yard sales all the time and she found Droid Factory for me. I instantly fell in love with it, even though some if not most of the parts were missing. Sadly R2-D2 was gone, except one of his legs. I played with it a lot. I'd love to see Hasbro re-imagine the Droid Factory for the TVC. It would make a great release for Star War's 50th Anniversary (wink, wink).😉 Great video as always!
Happy Birthday Steve! Love this episode! As a kid I always loved the ORIGINAL expanded universe like the Mini Rigs, the Droid Factory and the Imperial Troop Transport. They were every bit "REAL STAR WARS" to me as any ship from the movie. I had the orange base Droid Factory as a kid. MAN it was easy to loose those little rubber plugs that holds everything together!! And those hoses... once you cut them to size, that's it! I would LOVE to see more mini-rig concepts from Hasbro someday. We got those McQuarrie Concept ships (Snowspeeder, Cloud Car, Speeder Bike) back in the day as well as the missile trooper... but then it stopped. Also, the other difference between the droid factory and the 2 Jabba's Dungeon playsets is that the Dungeons add one more piece to the crane arm. They still come with that same hook attachment as the DF, but they add that little droid foot burner that you see in Jabba's Dungeon in ROTJ.
Now that was a fun walk through toy history! What a fascinating background on the playset, thanks Stevie. Lol at “Geoff” the droid… Happy belated bday!
Great video . I think a new generation of Mini Rigs could work today . Especially factoring in the lack of new vehicles in the sequel trilogy. If packed in some nostalgia type packaging.
Fun concept & I guess the forerunner for today's Build-A-Figure. I had most of the figures, mini-rigs & a lot of vehicles but none of the playsets as a kid - my Hoth base was polystyrene TV packing!
Fantastic vid, first Ive seen on this channel, and I'll have to check out more! I really want a Droid Factory now... what a blast. My kids would love one too!
Loved this one! Always wanted that toy - so glad you got one! Your talk of exclusives got me thinking about recycling/retooling by Kenner. Do you remember the Kevin Costner "Robin Hood" movie (c. 1991?) - Kenner used the Ewok Village from ROTJ and maybe some other similar Ewok toys in that line. As a kid I thought - "I should just get a Robin Hood sherwood forest set and then I will have an ewok village" but it seems that the Robin Hood toys are even more scarce haha.
First, I hope you had a great 51st birthday second if you’re going to get yourself a gift a vintage Kenner droid factory is the way to go. This is the way.
Ah 51, well happy birthday. I found that 54 was somewhat insignificant feeling last year. The Droid Factory looks cool! I would’ve made all the ones on the blueprints for sure as a kid. That 3 legged R2 is way cool!
I had a blue base Palitoy Droid Factory, all I have left of it is R2's head. Never thought of naming a droid Geoff, even though my name's Geoff 😂 Mind you, Geoff Star Droid does have a ring to it.
I absolutely love the Droid Factory! Never had it as a kid, but was one of my first purchases when I started collecting vintage Kenner in 2012 when Disney announced they were buying Lucasfilm. Curious, does Hasbro have a hand in the Disney Droid Factory line any more? I know the original waves at the parks used Hasbro Droid Factory molds, but the copyright was changed by 2015. Does Hasbro produce the line for Disney, or have they taken it completely in house these days? Sidenote; would you consider adding the “Body Rig” Mini-rigs to the Retro line? Those are pretty expensive bits
Good god dude, I’m only kind of partially interested in Kenner Star Wars, but dude I am absolutely following you, and to be able to show off goddamn test shot material, production items that is goddamn awesome!!!
I don't know anyone customizing the mini-rigs, but I do know about the Jabba Dungeon playsets from the Tomart's Action Figure Collectibles illustrated price guide books! :)
Mini riggs were my fave seen good customs the energy charging station was great so many uses amd cannon. On tripod This never saw ,palitoy was different especially xwing .i like that so you going re issue? Happy birthday .
The battle droid assembly line with C3P0 is compatible with the droid factory. I would like to see an Andor factory. The Andor droid factory might make from a combination of pieces. A Stretcher droid (as seen in the prison). A Stairs droid (as seen interacting with a transport ship), A Corner droid (as seen in a apartment) possibly on security duty. An Astromech droid, and a small landspeeder with droid head controlling a turret (as seen in the show). Within reason, it might be easy to do.
As a loooong time follower of your Insta page I’m ashamed to say this is the first MrStevie YT video I’ve watched! Now subscribed though! Great video and you have some fantastic toy contacts to be able to get hold of those original wheels! (Chris Reiff per chance?!)…
Hated those rubber connectors. If Kenner had adopted a peg system similar to LEGO Technic I think it would have been much better. The droids I made would never hold up to any extended play. I eventually stopped using the droids and used the factory as a play set.
Enjoyed the video, would like to know more information on the wheels other than knowing they exist… Were they use in a different product… And as far as customizing mini rigs, I have done a repaint on a PDT-8 that looks awesome If you have an email address, I’ll shoot you a picture
Really informative video, especially the flipped sticker!! For years I have had an R2 that I thought was a fake/repro sticker but I'm now certain it's a droid factory one!! Can you recommend any decent Facebook groups I could join to find out more? Really appreciate any help in confirming my collection. Thanks!!
Lovely episode. I love the history behind the toys as well. And happy 51st!
Thanks. A good demonstration and presentation.
Mould those wheels with your Blue Stuff - STAT! x
Really enjoyed it Steve. Star Wars toy history is as important as John Williams music. Hope you had a great birthday.

G'day Steve, just wanted to say thanks for your Tall Toy Tales, thoroughly enjoying them. Cheers mate
No worries! 🙌🏻

Good spot on the extra crane piece. I forgot to mention that
Imagine buying enough sets to build all of the droids in the blueprints at once and display a complete droid set.
Now that was a fun walk through toy history! What a fascinating background on the playset, thanks Stevie. Lol at “Geoff” the droid…

I am looking to get a prince of thieves collection. It’s one of my fav ‘fun’ movies
Belated birthday wishes to you my friend 👍
After I saw this episode, I found a Droid Factory in great condition!! I put it up in my toy room (aka office).
OK, I really really enjoyed this episode. It's actually giving me some ideas. I'm going to send you a message about it. I love the TALL TOY TALES!
Go for it!

“GEOFF STAR DROID” !!!!!! Brilliant!!! 👏🏻

Wow, thanks Steve. Lots of info that I didn't know.
Glad to help

Thanks for following! (Eventually) 😉🙌🏻
Your Endor MTV-7 looks like a Z-Force vehicle.
Which is ironic because the Endor Bunker was re-colored to be a Red Shadows base for JoeCon in 2010

Agree on the rubber pegs. They are just not robust enough. Maybe I’ll take a mold and recast in harder plastic and see how they work….

Happy Birthday! Spoiler alert: 57 isn’t great either. 😂
Bring back Mini Rigs!! #YearOfHammerhead
Do you think those manufactured wheels were used on another Kenner toy?
My brother's princess liea head is still broken off up r2 d2s butt to this day !!
Dont ask .....
I kinda wanna ask
If there’s 13 official droids does that mean everyone’s ’total figures Kenner made’ is short by 13! 😮
But Is it now finish the 109 or 129? Aaarrrrghhhhhhhhh
