I had an English professor say something that really stayed with me: Do one thing at a time. That advice changed my life and your video is a great reminder, thank you ❤
One that stuck with me and I’ve found true is: How you do one thing is how you do everything. Makes me stop when I lose discipline and remember to approach each activity or filler time intentionally, in alignment with my values. Easier said than done.
It’s a constant struggle to not be on a device too much. I often wish I could go back to the time when cell phones were simply used for making phone calls or texting. Thanks for your content.
Bec of this video, I am no fully decided to switch to a dumbphone. I’ve been considering it for a couple of yrs now. This is my push. Thank you, dear!!
I do love this kind of reminder. Today I was writing about the things I need to focus on and eliminate things that don’t align with me for the next couple years. And pay attention to what I really want. Social media is fine as long as we know how to balance things together
I do watch most of my videos at 2x speed, but that is because I have a toddler. I am watching this while he is asleep. Once he wakes up, my attention is on him. I am behind on my videos and only get a chance to watch them when he is sleeping (and I do many chores or food prep during his naps). I think it is helpful to put your phone in your bedroom at a certain time. I make sure I get a weekly report from my phone to see how much time I spent on it. Last week I spent 22 minutes on average each day on my phone. Hopefully I can get it down to 10 minutes. I know it is hard, especially for those who were raised with smart phones (while I was raised without a computer until I was 16 - I am 41 now). Those raised without having screens all the time, know how to occupy our time more slowly without distraction. I watch all your videos completely and always enjoy them! THank you for the inspiration and insight.
This is the first video in a while that I haven’t looked through the comments or looked for other videos while watching! Thanks for the captivating video.
I watched Buy Now with my adult son, we both implemented changes with how we (what I like to call) "consumer maneuver"...which happened to be just in time for Christmas. It's a must see.
Thank you for pointing out things that we commonly do without knowing. These habits of multitasking are making us tired leaving us behind with no great experiences to recollect later. I truly believe that we all need that one minded focus couple of times in day at least to enjoy life. Your videos are so calming and great reminder in midst of our chaotic lives we live.❤
I am temporarily living with my parents right now. My mother has an Alexa our kitchen. I noticed that as soon as I walk in the kitchen my eyes start to focus on the headlines or advertisements on the Alexa device. It distracts me from my own original thoughts, especially while I am home alone. My mind immediately starts thinking about what I am seeing on the Alexa screen. I decided to start covering the Alexa screen with a clean light cloth whenever my parents would be away for most of the day. Sometimes I forget to remove the cloth when they return home. I have a lot on my mind as it is. My Dad got really upset because I covered the Alexa screen, and cannot understand why I am distracted by it. He thinks it is foolish. I am trying to simplify my life and eliminate as many distractions as possible. I do not like being constantly bombarded with headlines and marketing to while I am at home by myself. I like to be more in control of my own thoughts. I am changing careers and going into Cybersecurity. Hopefully, I can find a Cybersecurity role soon that will afford me with the means to support myself again.
I honestly love you wholeheartedly. Watching any of your videos always brings me back down to earth and motivates me to actually be the version of me I´m most comfortable with! Thank you so so so much for your lovely videos and contribution of peace to this chaotic world of ours
Hello Sophie! This appeared at the right moment and in the right place. I was reading a book when I found myself, pacing and thinking of different things, it was a sad feeling, that pulled me from being in the present moment. Every time I look around, I see people holding their phones like zombies, grabbing their phones unconsciously. Something I don't want to happen to myself, cause life is really a fleeting moment. Thank you for this video. It reminds me reminded how long I haven't done my yoga, and have walked alone in nature. Thank you Ate Sophie! 💗😚
😂 yes I watch videos sped up and read the comments whilst the video plays 😂 I also checked my phone today during a chat with one of my four daughters. First time I've ever found myself checking my phone and it felt SO impolite and disrespectful. I realized immediately that I need to stop that before it becomes a thing that I dont like.
Today I had a "date" with my 3-year-old son at a bakery and I had to use my smartphone to find out when we would be picked up. I apologized to my child for that. He: “Why the apology?”. "Because it's rude to be on your smartphone while you're hanging out and eating with someone." I value those moments with my loved ones ❤ I hope he will grow up with awareness
I have watched “buy now” three times and I feel ashamed to be human right now. This has to stop! I am trying to arrange my life to be quieter and with a fuller focus. I find myself settling in to watch something and like you, checking my phone for really no good reason!! I did not ever think about speeding up the play on it, but it’s probably good I didn’t know about that! I’m going to try and spend more quiet reflection time to decide how I want to continue my life. Thank you for the wonderful video!
Such a helpful reminder for my Saturday morning. :) Currently on a journey of re-connecting with my creative hobbies, and becoming more mindful of how I choose to spend my time is an important component to that. Thank you!
Hi my sweet friend! I’ve always loved your minimalist wardrobe videos as I struggle with clothing. You gave us wonderful ideas for summer, and I incorporated sustainable linen clothes. Thank you for that! but I live in a cold climate which makes clothing a lot more complicated. Rain, snow, days when you need layers. Part of having a mindful wardrobe is just knowing how to dress and what kind of things are practical- this is where I’ve always struggled, buying too many things rather than one versatile item, because im buying wrong colors, fabrics, styles. Since you mentioned that you moved to Portugal and had to buy a winter wardrobe, I’m sure we would all love to catch a glimpse of the pieces you chose to invest in. It would be such an inspiration. I think it’s so hard to live in a four season climate and not have too many clothes . Thank you 💕
As always an amazing video with a concept that add immense values to our life. Every time I watch your video, it just fills me up with so much peace, somewhat like a mindfulness activity ✨🙌🏻
Hello Sophie, I have been thinking the same thing, if we keep on going at this rate we will lose our ability to focus on the things that matter. It has been getting harder for me to focus on just reading anything that takes longer than 2 or 3 minutes. I’m constantly searching UA-cam or Amazon, Ebay ect. The distractions are everywhere and in everything. I have been limiting my time I’m on the internet. I got rid of my t.v. along time ago because it was a distraction. I switch from the computer to the DVD player. I have the computer in another room. Then I found I can watch a movie without being on the computer. Since I started this routine I have been able to concentrate for longer periods of time and stay focused. I always have my phone on mute. My cell phone is strictly for if I need to go out or if I need to use it because my other phone is out of commission. Then to stop compulsive shopping I have stopped watching UA-cam channels where they are constantly doing reviews on the latest Bibles, journals, books, technology ect. That way I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything and I’m more content with what I have. That is why I love your video’s and look forward to seeing more. You have such a peace and calmness that I hope will rub off on me. Lots of love to you! ❤️
Amazing content! Pleased to see SF featured, esp at the tech free segment. It is possible to find peace and focus everywhere. Wishing you the best in the new Portugal chapter. 💛
I began only having one or two tabs open a few weeks ago. I really didn't think I could do it, but it's going very well! I love some of your ideas and will be trying them out. I love your outfits in this video. I hope you will do an updated wardrobe tour now that you live in Portugal and are wearing different items for your new climate!
Always looking forward on your next videos. I live a busy life. Your voice, background music, and video content always take me to a peaceful place, mentally and emotionally. See you on your next video 😊
Yes thats why i always wants and wait for your long videos ❤plz make such long videos love listening your voice for long...its bery soothing knowledge and heartful 💜🌻
Guilty here as well, lol! Luckily your videos have a calming effect and make you see the things really matter clearer! Thumbs up for the great work and cheers from Koh Samui! 🙏🌴
Behind the name of technology see what we have done with ourselves. We have lost our abilities while binge watching, lost attention, peace, knowledge, wisdom and ultimately the reason of life. But no more now. I have deleted all my social media accounts and will read books and will focus on my other hobbies.. Time is precious. Thank you ❤
Thank you so so much Sophie for Another peaceful Video and your videos are genuinely genuinely helpful to me and thank you so so much for motivating me May God Bless You And Your Family🥹🥹♥️♥️
I am also watching Buy Now on Netflix and it makes me feel like not buying anything anymore especially clothes 😄 Have been following you for since you started this channel and taking a moment to thank you for your soothing voice and insightful content Sophie. ❤
My attn span has changed so much since my medical problems started. I have to find a new routine/way to reset bc keeping everything bottled up works against me in obvious ways now. Its hard for me to know how the world is against me in some ways, but then doors open to get me out of the negativity❤️💯 I've entered a new phase in my life where I have to stay away from all that's bad for me- and leaving it all behind has been worth it. I recommend that for everyone👍
Thanks a lot for this. My advice to everyone is this : if you want to grow big this year especially in your finances. Be willing to make investments. Saving is great but investing puts you on a pedestal where you wouldnt have to worry about savings as you do now. Thanks to larysa Caba, my portolio is doing really great and im proud of the decisions i made last year.
I feel one Of the greatest challenges that we first timers face in the ma rket is that we end up losing all we have, making it difficult to find ourselves back to our feet. My biggest advice is to always seek the services of a professional just like I did when I ventured into it for the first time. Big thanks to Larysa Caba. I now make huge profits by weekly through her services while still learning to stand on my own.
I know Larysa Caba. she trades for everyone I meet. I met her twice at a meeting in Germany and after her lectures from Ella I had to personally ask her to be my financial advisor. she is definitely good.
I have never seen a trader as open and transparent as Larysa Caba with her clients. The way she decides to make a profit for her clients. she allows you to express your fears and she still rests your fears and that is my respect. I don't normally comment on videos, but this word should be included. she is really cool.
Yes, I read the comments section while watching a video. And I have so many tabs open that I can't read the the site is about. Lately, I've been trying to regain focus because I'm to the point where I'm questioning "Do I have ADHD?" Thank you so much for this video.
They have Cleaners for that! Your Jazz Music 🎵 is as Classy as you Complements your Story Telling! Your Dogs Are so well Behaved and Spoiled I Love them!!🤣 Do you And your Husband Have a Favorite Traditional Dinner That you Make for New Years???
Hello Sophie :) My name is Rita, I'm from Lisbon, I do tours and bike tours. I would happily show you around if you want, or go to a traditional restaurant. I hope you guys have a really nice time. Portugal has amazing places to disconnect. Wish you well :)
Lovely video! Also I too watched Buy Now. It was an interesting style for a documentary but I liked it. Really brought out the raw and ugly truth about consumption. Would love to see a video from you about your thoughts on it. ❤️
I have an online business so my work resolves around using social media and I anyway have an overactive brain where I just can't stay away from mindless content consumption. I really really need to get my priorities straight! In all this, I barely get to spend time with myself - introspecting, looking within. Ahhhhh it is a constant struggle. Sorry I am just ranting at this point. 😅
I did stop the video to leave a comment 😂. I actually follow you on Spotify bc in the morning I like to listen to your older podcast while driving especially to reset. It's funny this video came at the right time too. I find myself also doing that watching something on UA-cam or Netflix but still pick my phone. It's become a habit too 🙂. Also I follow you on IG. Have a wonderful day and happy holidays. I'll have to check that show you mwntion ❤
Hello Sophie. I love love watching your videos. Your channel is such a breath of fresh air. Me and my boyfriend both agree that your voice is so calming 😊. I love watching your videos. I have noticed that you don't have kids or wear nail polish. Me and my boyfriend are child free. I knew I did not want kids from when I was in high school. I love my childfree life. As far as nail polish goes I am addicted to nail polish. I adore having my nails painted. I have decided that next year starting now I won't wear nail polish for a whole year. It has only been 2 weeks and I feel so free already. I mentioned these two things because I think it would be cool if you could talk about your nails and if/why your nails are bare and also if you are childfree that would also be interesting for you to talk about? I am 32 and it feels cool to see other women in my age group without kids. If you don't want to talk or make a video about it I really do understand.
I felt caught out by the question about the open browser tabs. There were only three at the time. That's okay, isn't it? 😅 Thanks for the reminder! Focus is definitely lost too often.
I had so many tabs open, but one day, after a system update, they disappeared! 😂 I don’t even know if I needed them or not. Probably not, since I was keeping them open just to read later, but they had been open for half a year. Now, I only have the tabs I actually need opened.
Lots of this is great but I will never return to a coffee shop without WI-FI lol, I go to them to get work done that I can't focus well enough to do st home. Homework for my degree, scheduling for my job, personal admin for my own life, even writing. Also, even if I just want to read- I'm not gonna print out a dozen science articles and physically take them with me.

Yes! So simple yet so profound!
Wise words ❤️
One that stuck with me and I’ve found true is: How you do one thing is how you do everything. Makes me stop when I lose discipline and remember to approach each activity or filler time intentionally, in alignment with my values. Easier said than done.
That’s one thing I’m trying just now. I don’t realise how all over the place I was until I tried it for the first time.
Love all this. Another creator said that we should focus on monotasking rather than multitasking. I love that.
🙌🙌 it really helps
It’s a constant struggle to not be on a device too much. I often wish I could go back to the time when cell phones were simply used for making phone calls or texting. Thanks for your content.
I do wish that too. It seems like everyone's struggle...
Bec of this video, I am no fully decided to switch to a dumbphone. I’ve been considering it for a couple of yrs now. This is my push. Thank you, dear!!
I'm sure it'll be so helpful to get rid of the distractions
This was perfect timing 👌 Thank you I needed to hear those confirmations and tips. I hope you always find the joy in your new place, Malama ❤️
Thank you so much ❤️
Self discipline matters so much! Make good choices!
It does! We have to do it for ourselves 🙌❤️

What happens to me a lot is that my thoughts start running in my head while I watch videos, so I have to go back and rewatch the parts I missed.

Hello Sophie, I have been thinking the same thing, if we keep on going at this rate we will lose our ability to focus on the things that matter. Beautiful video...I've been trying to focus on being more focused and intentional, particularly when it comes to social media.

After watching this video, I think you must have taken my suggestion and read the book Stolen Focus by Johann Hari. That book is life changing for me.

the fact that nobody talks about Unveiling Your Hidden Potential by Bruce Thornwood speaks volumes about how people are stuck in trance

What a perfect video right before the holidays! Thank you for the reminder to take a deep breath and slow down and recline what’s mine - time 😌
Yes yes yes ❤️😍🙌 the most precious resource we have
Lovely video! Also I too watched Buy Now. It was an interesting style for a documentary but I liked it. Really brought out the raw and ugly truth about consumption. Would love to see a video from you about your thoughts on it. ❤️
I enjoy making comments on UA-cam. nice to meet you.
Loved the content Sophie...❤you pick something out of blue always and bang on its relatable...I would play the spy game...😂
So good to see your husband's face at the beginning as he is usually a man of mystery 😊
Haha yes he is a man of mystery 😁🫶
Yay! One tab at a time.😌
🙌❤️🥹
This channel always relaxes me. Time to close those dozens of open tabs. What was the name of the documentary you mentioned?
Buy now on Netflix :)
@@MalamaLife thank you
I have an online business so my work resolves around using social media and I anyway have an overactive brain where I just can't stay away from mindless content consumption. I really really need to get my priorities straight! In all this, I barely get to spend time with myself - introspecting, looking within. Ahhhhh it is a constant struggle. Sorry I am just ranting at this point. 😅
Excellent post that We ALL NEED.❤Thank You
Question: How did you find your place in Portugal?
Thank you so much for watching 😊 I have a good friend here I met last year, and he helped us find a place
Stepping out side to see Gods creations. ❤❤❤
Yesss 🙌
Great video!
Very beautiful Vlog ❤❤❤
Thank you :)
That tab-closing challenge is really hard 😂🥲
I would love to know the recipe you made in the video. It looked delicious ❤
Me I have 1 tab only... Your UA-cam Channel only :) ❤ Love you since day 1 😊
Awww, thank you so much! ❤️😍
Aww you're so sweet ❤️❤️❤️
malama do you have a podcast? i think i’d really enjoy it ☺️
Thank you so much. I don't have separate podcast episodes, but I upload my videos on podcast platforms :) You can search "malama life."
Hi :) I also don’t paint my nails…. I’ve come to really love the bare nail look and I think it’s so beautiful and feminine … and easy to maintain .
YES, this is really messing with my attention span and I can’t seem to muster the discipline to stop it
Yes, I've been doing all these... It's time for a reset 🙂
Definitely time for a reset
8:23 What do you want to be present for?
🙌🙌
Sleepping doggy is so cute)
They are the cutest 🥰🥰
🙂
I felt caught out by the question about the open browser tabs. There were only three at the time. That's okay, isn't it? 😅
Thanks for the reminder!
Focus is definitely lost too often.
You can do whatever what works for you 🙌 I just feel anxious when I have more than 3 open 😆
Well, i have 214 right now. Researching and taking notes.
BEST 🍀WISHES 🍀 🙏 🙏 TO You! And💕Those You LOVE 💕
❤
❤️❤️❤️
Where you are living looks lovely and interesting. X
Thank you. I live in Lisbon now ❤️
Love your neckless in this video, could you tell me where didi you get it? Thank you
A brand called Agapée
I had so many tabs open, but one day, after a system update, they disappeared! 😂 I don’t even know if I needed them or not. Probably not, since I was keeping them open just to read later, but they had been open for half a year. Now, I only have the tabs I actually need opened.
🤣 I love that! The system update was a blessing in disguise
I wouldn’t want that either! Thankfully there are still plenty of cafés with wifi 😁
