sorry to spoil your theory idea, but sando has stated that earth is not part of the cosmere 😁 I love your videos!!! these are some of the best cosmere book reviews I've ever seen !
I always forget Straff's actual name, I just call him Daddy Hate Sink, cause yeah, the only things his character has are 1. Elends dad, 2. A massive unending hate sink. I am interested in this Vin Cult... however, sadly, I'm already committed to the Pathian worship of the glorious Sazed! As noted, I just got into Sanderson, binged the Cosmere over the last few months and I LOVE IT! Mistborn is amazing and love this review of it! Vin offing The Lord Protractor was so damn well done! Kelsier's whole plan, everything that came from it, the world, the powers, seeing the clear gaps in the metals given and how it's clear there is a lot more to it then the characters know and trying to figure out what metals can do what... so good!
Okay I believe everyone is capable of redemption but out of everyone on every plane of existence the only person less redeemable than Straff Venture is Matt Walsh
Ahahaha! You're not the only one! If you look at the chat, there's a moment when everyone collectively comes to the same realization, it was hilarious 😂
This book was also my introduction to Brando, and similarly to you I read it basically out of boredom. Boi howdy was I not prepared for this addiction. Honestly this may be my favourite book of all time. Sure some books might be better, but this started my Cosmere journey and I truly believe every one of Brandon's books has changed my life. Not even exaggerating. I've been reading your reading updates on the Cosmere Facebook page, I can't wait for future videos, they always make me crack a smile. Great video!
Mhmmm, I never heard it that way. Not even in the audiobooks. But the cool thing is that we can pronounce these character names whichever way we want! :3
I'm pretty sure Kelsier is occasionally described as a psychopath because he genuinely has some traits of one, rather than as a shorthand for "murderous" or "horrible person" as it's often used. Specifically him being somewhat self-centered and his disregard for danger and other people's lives. Which, granted, is somewhat shown in his low-key murder-yness. And yes, some/all of these can come from other sources, such as bravery or radicalization, and psychopathy is a rather vague term that's not really in use in actual psychiatry. I think it's still fair to say that he probably has something like that going on especially due to being confirmed by Sanderson.
And here I am again, after final empire fall. That was great! Sanderson's books feels like a better version of what happened with Dark Souls series lore: all intertwined and we're sure to find out all the secrets and little threads that are connecting everything, not just everspeculating(that's extremely fun, but finding a line stating that your theory from half a year before was actually close to what is going on is just amazing)
Wasing the understanding of not, the way spook say something is really funny to me. Also thats a fun sprinkle of Gorgug there in the middle, love Dimensions 20.
I love it, three answers: 1. 1:40 Lord Ruler, he changes the world by adding ash mountains to burn out the killer mists, then he has modified the human respiratory system so that he can breathe ash. 4:30 ... whot? he was sometking like ... thirty-five, and she ... sixteen ... wait ... 6:20 ... cute 7:35 wait until you get to know MeLaan 11:50 first look ... what a shame I realy like him ... last look, when whe know how important he was ... vin, whot have you done !!! 15:27 ... we know ... his asshol PS ... becouse of you, I star watching ,, the promised neverland '' thank you!!!
For the 4:30 one, I never shipped them but I watched a review before reading The Final Empire, and the person mentioned how there was going to be a small romance, and when Vin and Kelsier first met, I actually panicked it was going to be between those two because Kelsier seemed too flirty. I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was going to be those two because it’s an older book and the adults from my mums generation and sisters generation seem to think if you are 16, it’s ok for a grown man to sleep with you. But I even found Vin and Elend iffy. Vin was 16 and Elend was 21. What’s even worse is that Sanderson wrote Vin as looking like a 12 year old girl, flat chest, thin as heck, baby face and barely even 5ft. While Elend was fricken a fully grown 21 year old man, why does no one else find that weird?
It's hard to imagine you had never read fantasy as a kid! But Robin Hobb is a great author; have you read her Assassins books/any of the other books set in that world?
Great review, I agree with a lot of what you said but I would argue that Kelsier is on the very close edge if not just is a psychopath. Not like a "dang what a psycho" but he shows a lot of signs of being a clinical psychopath ***from somebody with less then a qualification
Thank you very much for watching! I have no qualifications to really tell either. I mostly go with feelings when it comes to characters and Kelsier striked me as a brave person (though he did go too far at times) and the fact that he was so good to Vin added to it :)
I completely agree. Kelsier was definitely a brave dude who was very good to the people close to him, but his obsession with bringing down the nobility was very excessive and 100% bordering sociopathy. Sanderson even said in one of his Q and A’s that put in this situation, Kell was a hero but he could easily be a villain in another situation (foreshadowing!). For example, if Kelsier decided to play a bigger part in the new empire and government in the wax and wayne era and hadn’t died, he would still be out murdering nobles. I love him in The Final Empire, and I was super sad to see him die, but I think it is for the better that the Lord of Scars died then cause he LIKES killing the upper class.
@@Skier0915 Oh yeah definitely. We can see his impulsive and excessive behavior when he tries to take a whole army on his own, and Vin is the one to stop him. I agree with him possibly being a villain on his own, but his crew and friends were there to contain him when everybody was around :)
Oh heck, spoilers... not a surprise but still. Just was looking for a random place to ask if anybody feels the same about coins, for me it looks like it's easy to pull them back after initial jump-push is it also for orientation or is it actually required to keep pushing for longer than I think, and it's actually hard to drop one, push-jump, pull it, drop other, push-jump, pull other, drop that first one and repeat? Or is it more of "I don't bother"? Or maybe it's more of battlefield preparation in its own way, like having anchors for future and having that coins there as a weapon-ish option? Kinda just started The Final Empire, so I'll return to check out the video after I read it )

@@gulgothica he saved more skaa than he killed and the only skaa he killed were the ones that helped the lord ruler. He was incredibly ruthless but that doesn’t make him a bad person.
@@ali_exists1482 There were countless Skaa killed because of his actions. But I think we're going to have to agree to disagree. I like him as a character and he accomplished great things. But he did not do so in moral ways and was always and forever motivated by his own selfish desires. He is only arguably a good guy because he did terrible things which helped the side we agree with.
@@gulgothica the skaa were killed because of what actions? You mean after he died there were a ton executed? Or you mean skaa became too fearless and put themselves into the worst situations because of his religion? He was encouraged by the idea of getting revenge on the lord ruler for killing mare but he also did it so skaa wouldn’t have to go through what he went through
