Jimmy is retired from his biggest gig, but once again, he becomes the lion. He knows he could steal the show, but he's being respectful as a guest artist. Such confidence, energy, and effortless mastery. You can see him holding back so hard. He's the monster of rock guitar, and he's letting these "youngsters" have their piece of the pie. He's had it all and done it all, and he's still a nice guy. Again, it is the legend.
Yea it reminds me of his days with Zep on stage during the 1970s. That's something Page will always be, and the audience loves it whether he's in his 20s,40s, or 70s
Throughout the 50+ years of Aerosmith Tyler and Perry have always been center stage and in the spotlight. In this clip they share that spotlight with Jimmy Page, but man is Brad Whitford underrated. Give that man his flowers.
Back in the day, Perry played a badass humbucker guitar--Whitford played that familiar Telecaster (not here, though). Double-lead, rythym-lead: Wicked smart setups for then....
I was 15 in 1979. I was so lucky to have friends and my older brother turn me on to great music. Most were first time peeling the plastic off of albums with crazy anticipation. Like Aerosmith Toys in the Attic or AC/DC Back in Black. My older friends gave me 8 Tracks Get your Wings and Bad Co Straight Shooter. I literally played them until they wouldn't anymore. Good Times
@@johnbgriffinjr116 I love Joe Perry, but I have always felt that Brad Whitford plays a better lead guitar in several Aerosmith tunes in contrast to Perry. Just my opinion.
@@bubhub64 I’m with you on that… Brad has always laid down better leads on tracks all-in-all… if anybody questions this I always suggest throwing Live Bootleg on with some good headphones. Jack Douglas produced the record so you had Brad in one ear and Joe in the other, just like hearing it live. They both were dynamite but Brad definitely shined.
Aerosmith and Jimmy Page it definitely don't get any better than that 🎉🎉. 2 major icons on the stage performaning together 🎉🎉. This is a priceless experience to see.
Perry's Rock n Roll fantasy came true long before this. It was the night in the mid 70's when Jeff Beck came on stage and jammed with Joe as a birthday present.
In 1965,Jimmy and Jeff Beck with the Yardbirds transformed this 1950's Johnny Burnette rockabilly song into what it is now .Everything since is a cover of that.
This is great. Steven, Joe and Jimmy planned it out backstage and they played it as planned. Joe, Brad and Jimmy got equal solo time and all sounded great! What’s the problem?
Aerosmith were on tour so I won't pass judgment but Jimmy Page's second solo was great. He really nailed it. It was a nice tribute from Tyler, Perry and Withford to Jimmy.
Holy, I can't tell you how many times I have watched this. It just keeps getting better. This epitomizes my taste in music. Jimmy is the man. Oh, yeah, and Ozzy but he's not here.
@Ross Smith you said compliment or insult, why would it be an insult...I thought it was a compliment , just my opinion....but I am a little one eyed with Jimmy...
First time I have seen this video. So cool. I grew up with Aerosmith before they made it big time. Jamming with jimmi page is the ultimate. What a combination of jimmi, joe, Brad. Very cool jam. Wish I was there.
Probably felt good to get out of the studio, take of his "producer" hat and play in font of an audience. 1990 was the year that the Led Zepplin remastered box sets came out. I am sure that kept him quite busy.
I don't think so much in terms of technique, because technique is not so much what makes a great solo or song, but I feel like Brad showed that he has a better "musical vocabulary" than the other two, at least in this particular song he has.
Jimmy Page is just plain cool how he plays not taking anything away from the others though I'M just glad to be fortunate enough to see all them live in my lifetime
Jimmy Page is so talented of a guitar player, he can just casually walk on stage with any rock band and coalesces perfectly. What else is there to say except wow...

Love his facial expressions when he's in a solo....it's like he's trying to make the sound with his body! Lol....shame on those who called this lame...it's an event to remember if you've never seen Zep!
Page kicks ass at 3:38. Notice how the other guitar player walks over looking at him as if to say "okay you can do it." Page used to hold back a lot, but he's very awesome and can do anything and more any other guitar player could do.
yeah all of that said has to do with the accompanying guitarist being excellent...and a actually think Page can't fit in or deal with ANY other guitarist or 10 guitarists on the planet what with his background which is like some triple doctorate degree lol?

I can’t imagine looking over and giving JP the cue to take a lead.Your life has to be complete at that moment.
Absolutely.
That thought would never occur to me.
Looks like Joe is trying to out play Jimmy. He is very good, but not as good as Jimmy!
Jimmy Page and Joe Perry are both JPs. I assume you meant Page?

Brad whitford holds his own with these 2 guitar gods
