Just deleted my Facebook after more than 10 years. Feels a bit weird, but I'm glad I finally did it. I think the only social media that still bring some actual value is YT, and even that depends on how you use and how much.
It's a very good topic. Although the speech was quite short, I was very impressed with the message conveyed. I think that what is said is true. People become unfriendly because they spend most of their valuable time using social media and rarely interact directly with other people. The implication of excessive use of social platforms is that they move away from friendships and relationships that actually occur in real life. It not only prevents them from being gregarious but also turns humans into addicted creatures devoid of emotion and compassion for others. Someone becomes more interested in social media to do various things or activities. I totally agree with his statement that technology is not a wrong invention. The ones to blame are themselves because they don't know how to use social media properly. In addition to being socially isolated, a person may also become an individual who lacks empathy and is self-centered. thank you for this excellent talking video.
I 100% disagree. Even people who "excessively" use SM platforms often have excellent relationships in person. People act as if it's an either/or proposition. It's not.
Watching this in 2022.. Noticed how people dont communication even digitally anymore? New updates just let us "react" to messages friends send us. We no longer even text properly. For social apps, these updates sure are making us unsocial. People go on dates, meet friends, and are on their phones. The irony is, most of us probably got this video link through social media
One silver lining I give to the lockdowns is I can see people are trying to connect more in real life because of realizing how lonely they were to begin with
To disconnect to connect today is relatively difficult today. But there are definitely other ways we can connect other than deleting our social media because deleting social media is also a big disconnection now a day.
