"My friends, you bow to no one" brings me to tears every. single. time.
Me too I am not ashamed to say, so humble and moving.. recognising the debt and sacrifices made.. by the hobbits.. and to the collaboration of peoples and species ..overcoming evil..
It makes me cry every time too
Aragorn's speech before the battle " There may come a day etc etc, BUT IT IS NOT THIS DAY, still makes me cry. A forlorn hope showing such bravery
notice how Arwen bowed at the exact time as Aragona. She knew what he was thinking

Viggo was epic in that role.

I've not read the books but based on what I've seen he was perfect for Aragon
@@katakurifan5213 Fits the description perfectly from everything I've read
Every scene Aragorn is in is epic. I stand by that. Even the one with Eowyn's stew where he was literally dying inside. Epic.
Don't forget, he ate the stew. Surviving it was epic.
I hated that scene. I'm honestly glad it was deleted. It was very misogynistic.

“Best of Aragorn”
Every scene with Aragorn is the best
I mean the whole trilogy was something else❤️
Facts.
He deserved an Oscar ❤
Aragorn (especially as depicted by Vigo Mortensen) was the the perfect example of what a king/leader should be. Though he had great power, he never lorded it over anyone and always carried himself with humility and honor. He took the crown, not because he wanted it, only because the people needed a true leader at that time to win the war and bring peace. That is a man I could serve with pride.
Here, here!
Yes unlike England's king. Charles could never put himself in harms way to wage a war. He is no ARAGORN...... A true King, not a party hopper like the English cohorts clan of Charles over there in England.
@@annanardo2358Jesus Christ, what did he do shoot your gran or something
We must serve no man, but society, the whole of humanity. We are accustomed to the idea of serfdom/servitude because our history has lots of oppression social regimes. But the right society is one in which everybody serves everybody and nobody serves nobody. A good king is hard to find in fiction. Impossible to find in reality.
Nothing is impossible in this world.
King in every sense - strong, regal, determined, courageous despite fear, intelligent, humble, faithful, righteous, compassionate and so much more. My favourite character! 💖💖💖💖
He was a king before he was even close to being crowned. Not because it was his right, or because he earnt it. He was dangerous and he knew it, he was humble about his limitations and failures, he recognised that. which is why he was king from the very start. The acting though in this whole trilogy and direction was absolutely absurdly great. I don't think I'll live to see anything like it and I was too young to watch it in cinema by quite a way when it first came out. Aragorn as a character has all the development and nuance behind him to be the ideal of a ruler.
♥️
Just a small thing: to be courageous implies to be fearful in the first place; there is no courage without fear.
You forgot really, really pretty to look at!
Aragorn: I would have gone with you to the end. Into the very fires of Mordor.

Aragorn was one of my favorite characters from The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Viggo Mortensen was the perfect casting choice for the role. I've even read that sword-master Bob Anderson (RIP) said in an interview that out of all the actors he trained in the ways of the sword, Viggo Mortensen was the best swordsman he ever trained.
There are some characters in movies that just don’t look natural with a sword in their hand, no matter how much training they may have had. Vigo looks completely at home wielding a heavy bastard sword with just one hand. The dude’s a beast. Plus, he’s great with horses too so that helped with the making of the trilogy
@@jimbeaux89 Plus, he didn't get as much time for sword training as the other actors at the start, being hired much later. In fact, one of his first scenes was the fight at Weathertop!
That scene at 3:55 was not supposed to happen the actor play the Oricki could not see well under all the prosthetics so he accidentally thru it at Vigo and just plan skill and instinct that Vigo deflected it with his sword.
Not only did Viggo keep the sword with him all during the filming, apparently he even took it with him to restaurants with his cast friends. When filming was over, he kept it along with the horse he had ridden through all three movies, which he purchased.
Best character in the entire trilogy by far.
Sam?
@@colleenross8752 He’s probably second.
He’s definitely the best part of Frodo’s half of the story. Well, him and Gollum.
Agreed.
Everybody likes Legolas because of his looks, but we will love Aragorn because of his character. We will love Sam because of his loyalty.

Indeed. Me and a friend watch it once or twice a year, extended, only pausing to answer the calls of nature. And every single time, it's awesome and inspiring.

This is the way
At 3:53 the actor of Lurtz threw an actual knife even though he didn't mean to, but Viggo blocked it. What a badass he is.
The scene where he bows to the hobbits gives me goosebumps every time I see it. That moment, when the King of Gondor himself shows that the littlest people can do the greatest deeds. All of us can.
Viggo portrayed him very very well. I don't think we can get another actor to play Aragorn again.
E X A C T Y
As controversial and divergent of the canon this is I’d definitely suggest morgen freeman
@@garrettlich7140 why?, That would be unbelievability disrespectful to Tolkien's work, it doesn't make sense for a black character to be in LOTR unless much further east there is some desert with much more harsh sunlight where humans could develop over generations more melanin in their skin to appear darker, which in that case would require a whole new character to be created for it, which tbf would work very well as a non canon spin off for LOTR, and as long as it doesn't have a horribly adapted story as rings of power then I think it would do really well, but you cannot just change an existing character in such an incredibly impactful piece of literature and English culture

Viggo embodied Aragorn so well. A man who is basically a god among men, with such sincerity and pain, but fearlessness and humility.
Watching this in 2022. Viggo was born to play Aragorn in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. He was absolutely perfect in that role. No one else would have had that impact that he had.

Aragorn is a true badass. He can take on multiple Nazgūl by himself, resist the power of the Ring, and survive things most others couldn’t. He’s also not shy of supporting others, such as Frodo.
I could go on all day about how amazing Aragorn is, but I think you get the point.
Not to mention he's like 90 at the time of lotr
The blood of Numenor still runs true in his veins
My king, my captain, my brother..
What an amazing character
He might be the best character in fiction. He’s definitely one of the best.
Up there with Anakin Skywalker and Arthur Morgan
It must be remembered that Aragorn's lineage goes back to the Kingdom of Númenor, a group of men who had extra-long lives and powers far above that of normal men at the time. As shown by his ability to fight and win against the Morgul Kings and be able to withstand the presence of the Oathbreakers, the Army of the Dead, he feared no dead. He was of the lineage of Kings of Men.
Unlike Boromir, Aragorn resisted the ring's temptation. Such a badass.
I believe it is a little more deep than that. Aragorn knew of his heritage as he learned of it from Lord Elrond when he came of age to know, and lamented over said heritage that, not only allowed the ring to exist into Middle Earth, but also became the line the fallen kings, in gradual decline and fall of Numenor. More than resisting the ring's temptation, I believe Aragorn denied himself entirely because he knew that before that he was a king, he was a mere man that is vulnerable to the temptations of the world that ultimately doomed his people to near annihilation. This quality is why he was the only TRUE king that can lead his people to redemption, as (in a very Christian centered belief, consistent with Tolkien's own belief) Aragorn embraced true humility in himself, while being a man truly compassionate towards his people, and embodying a true regal nature befitting a King. Yes, badass indeed.
The fact that he beat the ring wraights by himself. Speaks volumes of his fighting ability?
I think each character was perfectly cast, but this guy is amazing.
“You draw far too much attention to yourself, Mr. Underhill”
3:53 is improvised. It's dangerous and unbelievable!
Aragorn is the best character in the books, and viggo mortensen made him even better by acting soooooooooo nicely
i dosent matter how many times i see it, but Aragorn saying "This Army" and then the dead king running Through him, always turns my spine to chalk
And that was when I fell in love with Aragorn and Viggo Mortensen 🙂; he was perfect for the role, and since LOTR I discovered how a very good actor he was in all his movies...
I've been in love with Aragorn since I was twelve.
My favourite character ever! Keep returning to him again and again.
These truly are the best, most visually perfect and well cast and well directed movies ever made!!!
My poor Aragorn. He has nice dark brown hair, yet through his adventure and travel, he has gone through so much it looks almost black.
He is awesome in every scene!

Viggo really nailed the swordplay choreography.
When I hear "THE TRUE MAN" I only imagine Aragorn

The Lord of the Rings movies of Peter Jackson are masterpieces. None can make it better, nor capable to remake it.

@10:11 the music the scene, the moment everyone bows just gets to me everytime. Especially the loving way Aragon looks at them, and the heartbreak and weary look of Frodo.
Viggo in Green Book is amazing.

What I like about Aragorn: when the odds are against him, and there seems to be no hope of victory, he still fights---and fights bravely!
The emotion between the words ‘For Frodo’ and the lashing forward of Merry and Pippi. Bondking!
This trilogy could have come out in 2021 and I would believe it
Or from the future for that matter!
This looks like previously on season 1 of Lord of the rings.
I love that scene where Frodo Sam Pippin and Merry bow and Aragorn says "my friends, you bow to no one ". and then bows to them and everyone does likewise.
Man Theoden has a couple of absolute banger scenes. His charge out of Helmsdeep and the speech before charging to Gondor's aid are truly epic. King shit.
And the scene in the river...with horse and riding back to H.Deep. ❤Aragorn❤
Tolkein created a hero, Jackson picked the best person to bring him to life!! That last scene, "My friends, you bow to no one" makes me tear up every time!! Jackson had some SNAFU's in the movies, (inevitable) but the raw emotion of the scenes and actors will forever stand above all but the VERY BEST movies, and challenge even them!!
8:19 He doesn't even say charge or go or let's fight or anything heavy-handed. "Here's why" and starts running whether anyone follows him or not. That's bravery.
Notice how when Aragorn talked to King Theoden about defending the tower - he truly only focused on the people? "For Rohan, for your people." Theoden was undeniably a great king as well but his response was "for death and glory." This is why I love Aragorn so much, that he have always put PEOPLE first. A true KING.
Aragorn is so real with this.
His last rally for courage in front of the gates of Mordor always affected me. I can easily imagine the men losing courage. But I can also imagine his words infusing courage.
This is not to say, aragorn wasn't inspirational before. He always was.

Daniel Day-Lewis also auditioned for the role as Aragorn. It would've been interesting his method acting was similar to Viggo's when he prepared for his role as Hawkeye in The Last of the Mohicans. He basically lived like a native american and carried all his weapon and equipment like his tomahawk and musket everywhere he went and Hawekeye and Aragorn are quite similar characters as a native american and a dunedain ranger.
Peter Jackson’s first choice for Aragorn was indeed Daniel Day-Lewis and he offered (no auditioning required) the role to Sir Daniel multiple times who declined due to being retired from acting at the time. Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio convinced Sir Daniel to star in Gangs of New York which ended his hiatus (1997-2002).
