- Seated in a circle are all the representatives of Middle Earth. Elrond stands to greet them
ELROND: Strangers from distant lands, friends of old. You have been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle Earth stands upon the brink of destruction. None can escape it. You will unite or you will fall. Each race is bound to this fate, this one doom. (He looks at them all and settles on Frodo, gesturing to him) Bring forth the Ring, Frodo
Frodo walks over to the stone plinth in the middle of the circle and carefully puts the Ring down on it
BOROMIR: (puts his hand to his mouth) So it's true
Frodo sits back down and sighs, closing his eyes. Legolas and Gimli eye the Ring suspiciously as it seemingly speaks to them. Boromir stands up
BOROMIR: In a dream (he looks again at the Ring) I saw the Eastern sky grow dark (he starts to walk towards the Ring) In the West a pale light lingered A voice was crying, your doom is near at hand (he keeps walking over to the Ring) Isildur's bane is found (Elrond looks at Gandalf concerned. Boromir stretches out his hand to the Ring) Isildur's Bane
Elrond jumps to his feet
ELROND: Boromir!
The sky darkens and Gandalf beings to speak in Black Speech, Boromir jumps back.
GANDALF: Ash nazg durbatuluk, ash nazg gimbatul, (Gimli shouts, and as Gandalf stands Boromir backs off to his seat)
ash nazg thrakatuluk (Elrond holds his head in pain, and Legolas closes his eyes grimacing) agh burzum-ishi krimpatul. (Frodo stares at the Ring as it appears to be talking to him)
(One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them)
The sky clears and the sun reappears Boromir sits down shocked
ELROND: (horrified and angered) Never before has anyone uttered words of that tongue here in Imladris
GANDALF: I do not ask your pardon Master Elrond for the Black Speech of Mordor may yet be heard in every corner of the West (he turns round to look at everyone there) The Ring is altogether evil (he turns to sit back down)
BOROMIR: (shakes his head) Aye it is a gift! (he stands up) A gift to the foes of Mordor. Why not use this Ring ? (He walks round addressing everyone) Long has my father, the Steward of Gondor kept the forces of Mordor at bey. By the blood of our people are your lands kept safe. Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy, let us use it against him
ARAGORN: You cannot wield it. None of us can (Boromir turns to face him) The One Ring answers to Sauron alone. It has no other master
BOROMIR: (scathingly) and what would a ranger know of this matter ?
LEGOLAS; (standing up) This is no mere Ranger. He is Aragorn son of Arathorn You owe him your allegiance
BOROMIR: (looks at Aragorn in disbelief. Frodo looks at Aragorn amazed) Aragorn! This.. is Isildur's heir
LEGOLAS: and heir to the throne of Gondor
Frodo continues to try and take in all this information. Aragorn holds his hand up
ARAGORN: Havo dad, Legolas (Sit down, Legolas.)
BOROMIR: (turns to Legolas) Gondor has no King. (he walks back to his seat, staring at Aragorn) Gondor needs no King (he stares at Aragorn disdainfully)
GANDALF: Aragorn is right. We cannot use it
ELROND: (standing up again) You have only one choice. The Ring must be destroyed.
GIMLI: Then what are we waiting for
Gimli stands, takes his axe. Elrond and Gandalf look worried as Gimli brings his axe down on the Ring. A shock vision of the eye appears to Frodo who holds his head in pain. Gimli is thrown onto the floor, his axe blade shattered, whilst the Ring remains undamaged. Gandalf looks at Frodo in concern as the words of the One Ring are uttered from it
ELROND: The Ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli, son of Gloin, by any craft that we here possess. The Ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade. - Розваги

The ring belongs to the man whose corruption lead to the sinking of Numenor, the land Elrond's brother worked hard to rule. That same man caused untold suffering by kidnapping and torturing elves, killed scores of them during the War of the Last Alliance.
He killed one of their greatest craftsmen and used his body as a banner. Not to mention all the cruelty he performed under Morgoth, acts that lead to the madness of the Oath of Feanor, the War of Wrath, the death of Fingolfin, destruction of Gondolin and many more.
Many of those elves lived through that, hearing the tongue Sauron created must reopen old and deep wounds.

@@omieg89 To make a very long story short (Something Tolkien never did in his entire life 😂) Aragorn was adopted and raised by the elves of Rivendell (eastern Middle Earth), specifically Lord Elrond. Elrond has a good relationship with the elves of Mirkwood (northern ME), who are led by King Thranduli. Legolas is Thranduli's son, & would have met Aragorn during any number of visits between the two leaders.

The look when Frodo realizes Aragorn is heir to the throne of Gondor is great. He’s literally like “what the fuck!”
It’s actually kind of endearing that Gimli attempts to destroy the ring immediately with no hesitation instead of trying to bargain or negotiate a way for it to go back to his people or something. He never tries to claim it he just hears it needs to be destroyed and goes ahead and gives it best shot.

I love how they have all these people at the Council, all seemingly important and from different parts of Middle-earth, yet only Elrond and the people that end up joining the Fellowship ever say anything. It's like the Jedi Council scenes in the Star Wars movies.
Elrond is similar to Mace Windu.
Because it is the film series in TLotR were Elrond, Glorfindel, Erestor, Galdor, Legolas, Glóin, Frodo, Bilbo, Aragorn, Boromir and Gandalf and they *all* have their proper speech.
Pretty much every meeting I go to.
Oh trust me. You don't want an accurate version of how it plays out in the book. The would take a whole movie onto itself, with musical numbers to beat.

We need to thank god every day that this trilogy was made, and that it was made when it was. When special effects and practical effects were in their golden age. When Hollywood wasn’t a politically motivated cesspool. When all these amazing actors were able to collaborate for one great production. It really is the only trilogy of its kind…

Aragorn. So this is Isildurs heir.
A great deal of dialogue from the book is cut out in this scene. Among the lines that were cut out is Aragorn's response in which he says the Dunedain rangers also keep the lands of Middle-Earth safe, in response to Boromir's boast that Gondor alone holds Mordor at bay. Another change they made is that Aragorn is evasive in this scene about being Isildur's heir, asking Legolas to sit back down. In the book, when it is revealed that he is Isildur's heir, he proclaims that he will return to Minas Tirith. And shortly before the journey begins, Narsil is reforged into Anduril. But in the films that does not happen until "Return of the King."
Thank you for writing this. Although it's surprising. Aragorn was already planning on returning to the throne? I only ask because in the movies he seemed to want nothing to do with it
The movie also didn't mention Arnor, which is kinda like paternal realm of Gondor. Arnor was destroyed and the descendant become the Ranger of the North.
The second part is better in the movies. A king that is eager for a throne is not a fair king. It is not wanting power that can make you more just. I was surprised about that in the books to be honest, because for most of the books Strider is portrayed as humble not caring too much about his reputation and what he is known as. The first part would have been a good addition to the movie though because not only do the Dunedain do their part to protect, many of them are seen as bandits as inferior etc.

"Only there can it be unmade", Elrond's deep calm voice clearly conveyed both firmness and fear at the same time, it reminded me of the human's failure to be influenced by the one ring and he witnessed it, I always get Goosebumps when he says it.

Whether cosmic or in general, some of the greatest villains, Dr. Doom, Darth Vader, Darksied, Lex Luthor, all these dudes are the spawns of Morgoth. When reading this guy's backstory I'm like why am I getting Deja Vu? Then I found out when he was created, I'm like wow this dude is the Godfather of villains. The simirilian... Man this movie sparked my love of fantasy. Since I saw this movie in middle school, I’ve read all the books, watched Game of Thrones multiple times, and am just now starting to read the books for it too.

The cinema release for FOTR is actually a better movie than the extended edition. The editor did an amazing job, the pacing is perfect, and the music carries you on an epic journey.
Finally, someone who agrees with me! The extended scenes are fun, but cinematic FOTR is perfect. For TTT, the extended is better imo.
The first two theatrical movies are some of the best edited films ever.

I like the small details like the men who came with Boromir reaching out right before gimli strikes the one ring show how much influence it has on the minds of men. It almost looked like they were trying to jump in front of the strike to protect it from being destroyed.
This is one of the best parts of the whole trilogy 😍🥰

I think people underestimate Aragorns force of will as a man. People always talk about how Sam was the strongest will next to Frodo considering that he had the ring when he thought Frodo died and gave it back to him. But people forget that Sam hesitates because he already feels the will of the ring telling him not to give it to Frodo. Aragorn on the other hand does not show temptation when Frodo offers it to him. He closes Frodo’s hands in his own and forgos his chance to take it. He’s always feared becoming a twisted or oath breaker of a man like Isildor had become. That’s why he’s always ran from his destiny. But that fear is what allowed him to become not just Isildors heir but Isildors better because he swept the dishonor from his family’s name.

Gimli stands, takes his axe. Elrond and Gandalf look worried as Gimli brings his axe down on the Ring. A shock vision of the eye appears to Frodo who holds his head in pain. Gimli is thrown onto the floor, his axe blade shattered, whilst the Ring remains undamaged. Gandalf looks at Frodo in concern as the words of the One Ring are uttered from it
ELROND: The Ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli, son of Gloin, by any craft that we here possess. The Ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade.
