We are now offering an all in one seat heating and cooling ventilation system for your seats. These thermoelectric devices (TED units) change the temperature of air being blown through the seats based off the electrical current feeding them. This gives you an efficient and powerful climate controlled seat that is based off of the best OEM systems out there. Included with every unit is a 5 pin 30A relay so that you can regulate the power only when the vehicle is on. We also include a hole cutting template set that gives you a perfect outline for cutting the mounting holes for the switches, pads, exhaust tubes, and ted units.

Oh how I can relate. Texas here. Back in the day, my cars never even had AC (couldn't afford a car with working AC). Now I can't imagine driving without it. I recently had to rent a 2019 F150 Platinum while my daily driver gets repaired after a fender bender and it has all the bells and whistles. It was only recently that I realized I needed not only the heated and cooled seats (and don't get me started on the heated steering wheel LOL) to truly feel as though I was living in modern times, but that I need an F150! I currently drive a '17 Mazda CX5, and it's great, but man, being that I'm 6'4 and ~220 lbs, that extra space in the F150 is a game changer!

    • @ScottSchapiro
      @ScottSchapiro 6 років тому +4

I only installed the kit in my driver's seat and I could not be happier. I live in south Florida and drive a convertible and I have found the cooling to be very effective and noticable even when the rest of my body might be getting too hot from having the top down.
It also starts working very quickly. I have had a couple of other TED coolers that used water as the cooling medium and this works better and faster.
I have not had a chance to test out the heating function yet, but I have every reason to believe it will work as well.
Keep in mind that Gentherm is an OEM supplier and they use these components in many production vehicles, so this is the real deal.

I have been installing road wire, and katzkin kits for 13yrs now I will let everyone know this is not something you should tackle unless you have good knowledge of how electronics in your vehicle work. I have seen people tap into wires they should not and burning out the bcm (body control module) if you do that your vehicle is not going any where and a new bcm is not cheap! I am the only one in my company who installs these and you did a great job. I often add the switches on the dash where the factory heaters go but have to add them at an angle to fit right. I do like the spot inside the console but I am unsure of customers would like that spot. Also on the side of the seat is a typical spot people place them. I tend to always add them on the center console if it is possible. Either way awesome work an I enjoyed the video.

So true! I bought a '99 2 door Tahoe last year. Battery was dying every couple of days. There was an aftermarket Alpine HU installed, so I decided to check over the installation. Previous owner skipped spending a few bucks on a plug and play harness and butchered the whole thing together with twisted wires and electrical tape. Had the radio wired to constant power. The truck was rough with other questionable wiring I just sold it.

When putting the silicone on.. be careful not to overdue it. If you do to much, you will clog the pad vents, potentially leaving dead spots.
If you want a Seal.. make the hole slightly smaller ( 1/8-1/4 lip).
With the tube being longer (proud of the cushion) it will always be pushed against the pad, so lots of silicone (or none) is necessary.

Interesting to see the aftermarket application of this type of system using thermopeltic devices, as I sit here in my office and disassemble/reverse engineer the OEM system on a Sierra Denali. Usually thermopeltic devices pale in comparison to actual compressor/freon based cooling, but the application and change in temp is sufficient for seating. Certainly much easier then ducting the HVAC system to the seats through additional blowers (though this is something I will still play around with). Quite good video work, capturing the essentials, great presentation and minimal blaugh.
I must also say, I do believe this is the first time I ever heard a self tapping screw called a stinger screw. Great work mate!

Probably not if you’re doing this all by yourself, seeing as how most cars with heated ventilated and cooled seats are newer, therefore making it expensive to get the OEM seats easily. Plus this system would allow you to add a feature to a car that may have never had it

This may seem to be a strange question but why is it only leather seats that get the heating and cooling treatment? Wouldn't cooling or heating cloth seats be a simple and easy upgrade for car manufacturers and be even more efficient since they don't have to compete with the density of the leather?

This install does not make much sense for total cabin climate control. If you turn on seat coolers, you also turn on rear passenger foot heat, with the placement of the exhaust port on the seat. Without looking into it, I bet there is a way to vent the A/C to the seats. Or port the heat exhaust outside...

+jason Unfortunately no, that would not make it any easier to install. Most seat heaters are designed to lay on top of the seat foam and heat with the seat without any air movement where as on theses units, both the heated and cooled air is blown through the upholstery.

Adding leather is fairly a normal practice in the aftermarket world, adding heated seats is also fairly normal, I probably would have noted that the clear lines going under the seat are pressure sensitive and turn air bags on and off depending on weight and that you should avoid doing this on seats that have that system on them. Or when doing it to be extra careful to not puncture them as they are filled with glycerin.
    Two questions :
What and how do you charge out for
This job? I’d like to say that an average seat 💺 Hester job runs about 499.99 in my store for two seats, with the additional labour involved with adding cooled components to the mix what’s the average labour time involved with doing the installation?
Modifying seats in the fashion is quite dangerous and you could potentially be modifying the time delay process with air bags during a crash, has your product been tested using the proper governmental structures?
Thanks a bunch! Super interesting concept would like to know more.
