This saved me from hearing my wife's attitude. Simple and great video. Don't understand why these engineers are making the simple things so difficult on these new cars.
@@gavinschulte3017 you should be able to pop your hood to change the headlights. They make it more difficult than it needs to be so you go to the dealership.
@@crystalking5777 Damn girl, let the man take care of his woman. That's what a real man does... Now don't get me wrong, my wife helped me put on her alternator, timing belt and replace my bumper but I wouldn't have her do that stuff by herself...
I am a 69 year old female widow. My mechanic told me it is a 2 hour job. Lol I watched your video and did it myself in 15 minutes. I didn’t have a bungee cord so I stuck a Gatorade bottle in between the black cover and wheel cover!Thank you!
Just replaced the bulb in my 2014 Traverse. The Dealer wanted to "remove the bumper" to get to the bulb. $120.00 in labor. You saved me a lot of cash! Thanks for making this post. Greatly appreciated.
The shop quoted my wife $80 to $100 dollars! It only cost me the cost of the headlight $14.99 the cost of the bungee cord $2.99 and less than 4mins and 56 seconds. Great video thank you!
Oh my God! You just save me $200, the dealership wanted to charge me $200! I only spent about $45 for everything I needed and changed it in 20 minutes thanks for your video!!!!✊🏾🙏🏾💯💯💯💯
This was the BEST video ever!! The bungee cord idea worked like a charm. I bought a T-20 screwdriver from O’Rileys for $6.99 and the bulbs for about $47. I did both headlights for under $60 and in under 30 minutes for both headlights! Thank you so very much!
TweekerDan, You are great! I just replaced a headlight on my daughter's 2012 Chevy Traverse. It had been out for a LONG time and either we were sold the wrong bulb or couldn't find anyone to take it to on short notice. We were all waiting for the problem to fix itself when I finally said "I guess it's going to be me." So I bought more bulbs and yours was the first video I pulled up. I had really done nothing more under the hood of a car than replace windshield wiper fluid and check oil. An hour later I had fixed her headlight! I'm proud of myself, but I couldn't have done it without you. Thanks!
Thank you! Just saved $110 in labor for each side. Took me 5 minutes! I replaced them both while I was at it. Your video was super easy to follow, thanks again.
Excellent tutorial! The tip about using a bungee cord to hold the plastic guard back was extremely helpful. I was able to replace the headlight very easily using this as a guide. Thank you!!
Your video was the best that I have ever seen on UA-cam! You explained the steps very well! Especially when talking about the bulb! In that, you should never, ever touch the bulb with your ungloved finger, due to the oils that are naturally occurring on your finger & hand! They will containminate the bulb and make it burn out sooner!
This was amazing. Changed it 10 minutes and I'm not mechanically inclined. PepBoys said that I would need to leave the car, it would take 1hr labor and cost $280. They insisted I couldn't do it myself. Then light bulb was $12, the t-20 screwdriver $10. It was so easy to change! Easier than video made it look. Super easy to reach. Thank you!
I hope you understand how helpful this really is. My husband is sick and he usually does this stuff for me. But with this you explained and shown everything I needed to know to get it changed! I appreciate you for this! 🙏
I've changed my share of headlight bulbs and NEVER would have thought to come at it through the fender! Excellent video! I owe you 1¹½ hours of time saved!
I had almost given up and was going to take it somewhere before I watched your video. The bungee cord trick worked perfectly. I was then able to access the housing and change out the bulb. Thank you, saved me so much money!
Man thank you for this video. I was told I had to completely remove the tire on my wife’s traverse to change the bulb so you’ve made it a hell of a lot quicker and easier for me!!!
Thank you. Double thumbs up. I knew exactly what I was doing with the help of this video. The tarp strap trick is a life saver. The basic bulbs are rated for more than twice the life as the fancier ones. Crank the wheel to the inside. Use T20 bit to remove two screws. Pull the cover back and hold with tarp strap run through the wheel spokes. Undo (counterclockwise) the lid behind the bulb. Remove the bulb (counterclockwise) Unclip the bulb. Wrap the new bulb with paper towel to prevent hand grease. Make sure it is in the same orientation as the old one was so when you reach the new one back in, you don't need to fiddle. Clip the wire back on and make sure the clip is fully engaged. Remove the paper towel and twist the bulb back into the hole without touching the glass. Make sure the bulb is sat all the way in again before fastening it back home (10 o'clock to 12 o'clock) Release the tarp strap and refasten the shroud with the two screws. Test and pat yourself on the back. Give this video a thumbs up.

This video was extremely clear and helpful! My husband didn't think that I should try this myself and that I should take it somewhere to have the bulb professionally replaced. Well, my mechanic told me it would cost me $88 in labor PLUS the price of the new bulb. I said to forget it and that I'd do it myself. With that said, I watched YOUR video (and a couple others...but YOURS was THE BEST), got everything I needed and voila......DONE IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES!!!!! You rock! Thanks!!!
About to do this today...overheard my high school son say to his mother last night "mom, we need to replace the headlight on the trav"... She said "we can't. Gotta take it in cuz the tire needs to come off." All I heard was "we're gonna have to pay a mechanic to change a bloody light bulb" I don't think so. Good video
I followed your way of doing the low beam headlamp much easier I started to take the front of the traverse apart to change them then I came across for channel thank you bro a 1-2 hour job easily was done in 10 minutes WTF are these engineers thinking about that’s so everybody has to bring them in thank you again brother
This worked perfectly for my 2016 Traverse, Didn’t have a bungee so I used a piece of coat hanger wire to tie back to the wheel. Thanks so much for the video!
This video was great because it covered two things most others left out. The tab orientation (hard to see when doing it) and the need to not touch the bulb. I was having trouble finding the large tab location but it's easy to see here. Nice job on the details. Thank you.
Not sure if you will see this but i just finished this replacement and your video made it go so smooth. its cold here and I wanted to get this done before dark, i gave myself an hour. the T-20 helped get the right tool quickly and the bungee cord was in valuable, thanks!

Nice and simple explanation TD 👍I have replaced quite a few bulbs on our 2011, but I still like to check if anybody has new tips/tricks, each time. I used some disposable nitrile gloves in case I accidentally touched the bulb (1). I also tried your idea of the bungee cord (2) but being the cold of winter and almost 11 years old, the plasticized cardboard - or whatever it is - liner is not as flexible and easy to deal with as shown in your video, but it was still an improvement over skinned forearms 🤪 The fact that it was far from my first attempt, I am able to do it without being able to see into the small space. So 22 minutes later, I was able to replace both lowbeam bulbs. Keep up the good work. To all the commenters about engineers making things harder than necessary ... of course they do, that's their job ! 🤔 dealerships and aftermarket shops get to make a killing🤑 because not everybody has the tools or the space or the time to be DIY'ers.

I couldn’t even get to the light I was needing to get to.. so I UA-camd it and found this video and all be dang after watching the first 2:00 minutes of the video I had the light out and replaced within a few minutes, after spending hours trying to do it the wrong way.. thanks for the video. And UA-cam
@MyOwnThoughts thank you for sharing and glad this helped, I created this video after hearing what the dealer charges to replace the light.
Great - bungee cords were a huge help. The comment on the location of the wider notch was also helpful. It might be helpful also to look in through the headlamp lens to see exactly where the notches are.
