Thank you so much for this! The Chevy dealer tried to charge me $175 and said they had to take the bumper off in order to change it LOL I was like no thank you this took me less than 15 minutes thanks to your detailed video I really appreciate it!
I didn't have a car jack when I was replacing my bulbs, so I couldn't see anything that you showed in the video. With the help of this video I was able to do it all just buy touch without seeing anything I was doing. And it went perfectly! Thanks you for making this video!
That's great! I'm glad that this video was able to help you! Thank you for watching. I do have other maintenance videos for the Equinox if you find yourself doing other things to yours
Thank you for this video. I had to change the bulb based on watching you on camera. I NEVER SAW THE INSIDE the way you did on video. I could never get at the right angle to look in. I just had to feel my way through it by watching you (over and over lol) and I did it!
I don't think so. Your video was very thorough and well explained. It was terrific. Your last question is more difficult because one doesn't know what he needs until he needs it. I have a 2011 Chevy Equinox, 2005 GMC Envoy and a 2001 Ford F150 Super crew with the Triton 5.4 which blew a plug 2 yrs ago and have had problems with it off and on since then. Actually, when I get done writing you I am taking it back in because it is missing and chugging again. I try to do as many repairs as I can. Thank you for your reply.
Thank you! Normally, this isn't a project I'd even attempt to do. However, the camera work was so well done, the explanation easy to follow... I successfully changed my own bulb and my wife is well pleased with me! 😉 Thanks for the great video!
This is good info for replacing the LOW beam head lamps. Do you have to remove the fender liner to change the HIGH beam bulbs? I've seen 2015 and > equinox that doesn't have the round fender cover and they are removing the wheel then the entire fender liner in order to access the high beam lamps. It looks like the 9005 bulb you referenced is recommend for the HIGH beam bulb and the LOW beam bulb is the H-11. I own a 2011 Equinox.
To be honest, it's been a while since I filmed this and I can't remember if I only did one ore the other but, I almost never use my high beams. I have an LT, is it possible that you have an LTZ? Mine is also a 2011. I heard that 2014 and up so not have the access hole.
Very helpful video. I was able to change out both sides on our 2011 Chevy Equinox in about 20 minutes total. I was working ‘by feel’ because the wheel prevents any good line-of-site. Turning the tires full right and left does create some space as well, but obviously the engine needs to be on to allow the power steering to work. Also, the old seal from the lightbulb was stuck in the housing on both sides after removing the old bulb. I just had to feel around the opening, and then it came right out. The only other thing that I might suggest is that a person tests the newly installed bulbs by activating the low beams before buttoning everything up. That way if something is not quite right you don’t waste time undoing all of that again.
@@dominicperez7201 I love this kind of comment. I'm glad this video helped you! I have a bunch of Equinox videos if you ever need them, check out my playlists.
Last night when leaving candlelight service I noticed my left low beam was out. I've changed bulbs on other cars but always went in from under the hood. Your video is super informative but I'm not confident I can successfully handle the part where one has to just feel because it can't be seen. May give it a try on a day when my son is around as my back up! Thanks for the video!
I think you will do fine. Just remember, don't touch new glass of the new bulb with your bare hands, if the oils from your hands get on the bulb, it will blow as soon as you turn it on. You can wear any kind of glove or just be careful when installing the new one.
It's been a while since I made the video, I do believe I was changing the low beam. I also believe that you can get to high beam bulb through the same opening. Let me know if you find out that it does not allow you access to the high beams.
Including the bulb number (9005) would have been helpful. I found it easier to disconnect the electrical plug by first removing the bulb (1/4 turn CCW) and pulling it out so you can see it.
You said you lowered your equinox in the beginning of the video what kit did you use to be able to do so I have a 2011 all will drive 4 cylinder equinox that I would love to lower 2 to 4"

Thanks for the video. The bulbs you recommend do not fit my 2011 equinox; those pins are wider apart then my stock bulbs. I got the Sylvania Xtravision H11 and they fit perfect. I tried to add a link to amazon here but it doesn't work. The bulbs I got are available on Amazon. I'm returning the 9005 bulbs to Amazon.
@@red2965 I used H11 for the low beams and it calls for 9005 for high beams. As for HID, you would want to look at an application chart from which ever manufacturer you want to buy from.

@@elonbordanncejoy9310 it depends on what tools you have. I think if you turn the wheel, you should have room. If not then jacking up the car should give you that extra room.
