- Blink-182 are back with a tear-jerking new song for their hardcore fans, it's called One More Time and I'm going to have a look at it. Apologies for the mic stand being in the way of my hand and fingers, I'll fix that for next time,

Nice!!
But are you actually that good to be back together?
@@namelessghoul1911 We've been back together since 2012! Keep up! We're aweseome!
This channel made me revisit The Darkness. I am so sorry I didn't appreciate you as much as I should have the first time around. You guys are flipping awesome and now I've missed out on tickets to your London UK gigs. Gutted!
I'll be seeing you in Detroit!
It's real on the nose, but that's exactly what that song should be. It is quite beautiful. Be a good person, tell people you love that you love them, and don't sweat the petty crap.
Can’t really be “on the nose” if it’s a song specifically written about them. It’s not trying to be anything else
@@Luke101 You're right, I probably should have used a different term. It's a great song when you realise that guys usually don't write stuff like this about the guys they were in a band with so directly.
*quiet
none of us listen to blink for their subtlety lol, on the nose is just what the fanbase wants
Seems they missed a critical aphorism: hire a competent producer.
Followed these guys since my teens im 39 now 😭. This song hits hard if you've followed them since the start. It's absolutely beautiful ❤️
Right there with you bro, been a fan since Duderanch
Such an emotional song especially with the video. Mark was right when he said it'll be on the Mount Rushmore of Blink. Can't wait for this album and to see them in a few weeks
Ditto! 39 and still get the same goosebumps from when back when.
Heeey it's the 39 club! blink-182 was the very first band I saw live, and now I'm alerted that they're touring again. Gonna have to go and complete that circle!
39 also. Couldn’t agree more.
What I love about the Blink 182 reunion single is it actually addresses everything and has all of them holding up their hands about how we can drift as friends.
It’s real life, it’s mature, and it’s absolutely heart-wrenchingly beautiful.
It hit me straight in the feels as soon as I heard it- tears in my eyes as I type this. Gorgeous track and so great to see the boys together and Mark back to better health :)
Rather than simply being tourists in their own youth, this somehow sails the tightrope between nostalgia and fresh, awesome music.
A triumphant return.
And then there’s Edging
They've always been incredible song writers. Those 3 dudes just have a magic together that most musicians will never experience. Crazy how the universe works like that. I'm glad you covered this "auto-biographal" song.
Well travis put ut over the top,but they where still great with scott
Yes, their song fuck a dog is so emotional
"autobiographical" or "autotuned biographical'?
@@invalid_username182that’s such a lame comment, first of all where is anyone saying that they are perennial emotional song writers? Second of all to pull that song which is a hidden track joke song in the first place is disingenuous bullshit…they’ve written countless hits over a 30 year span and are still doing it, so I guess they are bad songwriters in your mind? Such a pretentious douche
They’re not incredible song writers lol come on lol
They also released 'More Than You Know' the same day. Much more up tempo. Travis plays a double kick (which may be a first?) and the interlude/bridge part is so lovely.
Justin definitely needs to review MTYK i think he will really enjoy 🤘
you never know with Travis if it is a double kick or if he is just that fast with one foot
Hmmm, the only other track with a double kick I can think off by them is Just About Done but thats Scott Raynor
@RabbiB0Y very true! But! This is a double kick. There's video of him in the studio with isolated drums and it's amazing!
@@8R4NDON I think Dance with Me embodies Blink way more. He should review that
First album with Tom since 2011, they released 2 with Matt Skiba in 2016 and 2019. I know a lot of people ignore them or dismiss them as “not blink” but they’re still playing some of the Skiba-era songs live (a fair few of them are great too)
Tom doing the Matt parts actually sounds pretty good.
@@SkySoFew fair play to Tom, he seems to be bringing his A-game live since he came back. I saw them 3 times around 2011-14 and his singing was pretty terrible and he seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else, it’s genuinely so nice to see him with the fire back and rejuvenated
@@Mr__Snrub Right? I saw them in Minneapolis a few months ago and dude crushes it. Honestly feels like he's all in. I saw them a few times when they first got back together and know exactly what you're talking about lol
Bored to death is up there with any of the Blink classics for me.
@@mccoll78 Agreed! I saw them live last saturday and "Bored To Death" blew me away. What a tune!
Blink was the band that pulled me through my teens, specifically the Enema of the State album just gripped me. Like many others, this song felt like a love letter to the part of my soul that died when they broke up. Really touching.
love getting one slow and one fast song in a single day, both songs rocks
After "only" waiting for a whole year ;)
It’s awesome! Back in the day, a single would sometimes have 3 b-sides, some of which were better than the single 🤩
I was never a massive Blink 182 fan, but I really enjoy the sentiment of this. I'd half forgotten text emoticons like that heart were a thing, but we used them all the time as younglings. Behold, a mouse
Very proud to give you the 100th like😁🎉
I think in general, people pull together after hardships because they get a fast realization that tomorrow is never promised. Life is too short, to not express how much the important people mean to you and give them your time.
Travis sitting there in the background between the two is symbolism for how he felt since the main feud was between Mark and Tom.
👍 He definitely the peace maker bless him. Will be a nice break for Travis this song in live shows he proper flat out most the time 😂
That's what keeps some parents together. Kids take sides of parents when times are rocky, stay neutral and it gives room for them to come back
Good point. 👍
Or that’s where he always is when the perform it’s what the fans are used to and makes us comfortable
Or you know, he's the drummer and that's where he always sits
AMAZING. After triumph, tragedy & animosity.. this is them maturing, reconnecting & putting it all behind them. Embracing the future. A beautiful storytelling loveletter to each other & the fans. Starting anew.
Just saw them live and they were incredible. So good to see them back together and healing after everything they have been through together and individually. They put on an incredible show. Every bit as good as when I last saw them at 16 in '04
I love octave vocals. One of my favourite songs is Disintegration by Jimmy Eat World (Stay on my Side Tonight EP). It also has drumming I love where there are little to no cymbals. The richness and substance of the lower voice, with the power, energy and emotion of the upper voice.
Disintegration is an incredible song!
Jimmy Eat World is my 3rd favorite band and Blink is my 1st. Btw I love Disintegration but I love Closer way more from that Ep.
Love that ep
Good taste!!
I was really impressed by the new Blink song. Blink 182 are great artists and always have been. Their problem is that they started out doing a lot of comedy so most critics refuse to take them seriously, but Travis is a top level drummer and Tom and Mark are extremely good melody writers. Blink have dozens of catchy songs. At a certain point their talent just cannot be denied.
Love your take on this. You're the first one I've heard say that it's a love letter TO EACH OTHER. Everybody else has said it's a love letter "to themselves". For me, that's a huge difference. This isn't them praising their band. It's them reconciling the things that came between them, and realizing how pointless those things were in the grand scheme of life.
it is rare for bands to talk about personal things lyrically that happened between the members in the band. they really do have a special relationship with the fans. they basically include them in many songs on this album.
Wasn’t aware of this channel but love your approach so you’ve earned a new subscriber 👍🏼
Its a beautiful, simple song that really tugs on the heart strings. Add in the video with old pics of them (which reminds me of being a teen/early 20s around the same time) and next thing you know Im tearing up over a blink 182 video.
I find your analysis of the music, vocals & lyrics very fascinating. It has introduced me and showed me how to appreciate music in a different way and much I would not consider listening to before listening to your insight.
I’ve been wondering , do you find the analysis you do of various music helpful or a hindrance to your original music and song writing. since on one hand it provides a wide and different perspective, but its possible it can also fixate you on what you heard and go beyond an influence and affect your originality.
Please do a video on the other song on the single it's really cool! Loved this one! Also I dunno if you've ever done one about you're own song growing on me but that song is such a banger and would love to know some back story to writing the song and even the badass video ❤
They're back to stay together for the kids. Amazing review and I look forward to seeing more from you. New fan!
Right in the feels it got me, I was 15 when I was given a copy of Enema of the state by my big bro. I hardly get to see him anymore now we're both grown ups and have our own lives. Can't wait for the new blink album, can't believe they hit us straight with this! We weren't ready!!
This is a great freaking song and this is the first time I've heard about it, and it's been six months since it came out, so thanks for playing it! I really don't listen to new music much cuz I got so sick of the crap that's been coming out but these guys are one of my '90's fav's. Now I'm going to go download it!
I watched it at the live premiere and loved. By the way, they released another song the same day as One More Time called More Than You Know which was good. And it’s not their first album since 2011, it’s their first album with Tom DeLonge since 2011, they’ve released two albums with Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio in 2016 and 2019 without Tom, just so you know
yeah we don't count those
@@jimboc669Maybe not 9. Genuinely enjoyed California.
The less we say about those the better
@@jimboc669 They were much better than the last few with Tom. Mans vocals and guitar playing was awful for years.
Brilliant review. Loved the Level 42 comment at the end!
Lovely song though, looking forward to the rest of the album too.
Love you Justin! Thank you for all you do!
It’s the first album with mark Tom and Travis since 2011. But there have been two blink- 182 albums since then with Matt from Alkaline Trio. I’m loving this song by the way. Much more than I could’ve expected. It’s honest and doesn’t sound like it was written by committee. It’s also nice to see a song with actual instruments been played blowing up and the fact that there is space in a song and not just vocals everywhere like the audience might get bored and switch channels or something
Justin , I bought you the Porsche mug to a meet n greet in Birmingham.Glad you actually got it 🎉
These videos are so cool, Justin. Thank you for them.
beautiful song, and sentiment to each other as well as the fans that have stuck with them through the years, hoping and waiting. quite moving
Please do the other song Blink released! Think you’ll really love unpacking that one!!
It’s a beautiful song. Thanks for your take on the guitar and singing. Always love hearing your reactions!
Btw, you think Travis is really singing? Or is he just mouthing? I’ve heard others say he’s singing too, but it sounds like one of the other guys. I’ve never heard Travis sing, so maybe his voice is similar? But I tend to wonder if he’s not just mouthing the words for the video.
It’s definitely Travis
Nah, it's without a doubt Travis. His voice is just that so slightly different you can tell it isn't Mark or Tom.
I knew it, this video popped up and was playing for like 30 seconds. I'm think I know that guy, I only know one of your songs but it's super epic. Thank you for your musical contributions.
Thx for the review Justin! Brilliant as always
I love that you say 1-8-2 like us Aussies, not 1-82 which apparently the rest of the world (and the band) does.
Lol. I always said 1-8-2.
I had no idea about the 1-82.😂
Yeah i think its just the UK an the ozzies say 1-8-2 lmao
Australian here just finding this out
More Than You Know is absolutely awesome too. Can't wait for the record!
Great thoughts Justin. Jumping in as a subscriber now. I think this song is the healing, and the perfect Blink 182 response.
Had the absolute pleasure of meeting and interviewing Justin for Talksport last year.... a Gentleman and as charismatic in real life as he is on these amazing videos and stage! First time i have dropped a comment, but went to see Blink last night at Wembley and it was AWESOME! Seeing JH dissect it as intellectually as he does in his videos is really beautiful. Long Live JHRA
cool martini racing mug !
I haven't really listened to this band, but I really like this song, might have to check out their new stuff. Justin take care of yourself, don't burn the candle to much. 🙏😌❤️
So happy they are back doing their thing together. Life is too short and they are too talented
Please listen to More Than You Know! It’s an incredible song that sounds like classic Blink and has some amazing double drums by Travis in the chorus!
Love your positivity toward music man, especially the pop punk pocket of music. I’m ordering Tom’s new signature Starcaster TODAY, always wished I made enough money as a kid to buy the Gibson, but of course, children aren’t exactly to rich.
It may be a black sheep b-stock guitar, but if anything, I think it will make me love it more.
Some times simple songs are the best. This one could become a bit of a classic. Love it.
Yes Justin! ❤
Am really enjoying the long form approach to interviewing and 2 bands really do serve this treatment. Slade who are very famous and Wolfsbane who are just legendary. These are suggestions. To enjoy.
Can tell it properly resonates with Justin - lovely stuff
I agree…simple and brilliant. The first song in my memory that shows a band (after a breakup) admitting they were pompous…and that what really matters is their brotherhood. Great concept and great execution.
469,000🎉🎉🎉
I love watching you break down songs on your first listen… but sweet lord brother. If you’re gonna play vertical, can we move the mic? I wanna see what your phlangey bits are actually doing.. Please?
Also.. still would love for you to do a critique of fan music for a video. A mix of saying something nice and replying to our missives;)
They sound healthier. It's missing a lot of pomp that they usually have, but you can tell just how much they've grown. Like no real big dynamic changes, a simpler drum beat introduced half way through; there's not even that bite in the vocals that songs like "I miss you" had. Yet starting early with a keyboard part (in an opposite fashion to Adam's song,) a recontextualized "I miss you" (maybe even a callback to Where are you as well?,) and the lyrics really make for a memorial for the time they missed apart. The video itself feels like their own personal "Hurt," with the obvious callbacks.
With time brings understanding it seems. And I'm here for it.
Beautiful! Thanks!
I liked them when they first came out but wasn't a huge fan, my son is 18 and really has gotten into them on his own violation so I took him to see them in Manchester last night... What an amazing show, absolutely non stop sounded fantastic and Travis, dude played his heart out, his hands literally bleeding the new stuff was almost seamless with the classic songs, shoes that if legacy acts write new material for the sake of creating rather than a cash grab it can really work, cit was my son's first gig and definitely one he'll always remember outstanding.
seen them live last month, amazing.
For all the Blink kids like me that are now in their 30s, it’s ok for this video to break you a little bit. Such an iconic band. Tom’s ‘Pursuit of Tone’ doc on UA-cam is really insightful for the evolution in how he plays and writes 👌🏼🤘🏼
You mean 40s
@@crazyprayingmantis5596 both! They really took after Enema of the state I was 14/15 when that come out and have listened to them ever since, including the earlier stuff I'm now 38.
reminded me a little of miss you and adams song. Nice song. Its really hard for ageing bands that were so teen angst to comeback and write meaningful songs. Good stuff. Go take over the world again
Uh oh! There's remnants of TLC's Unpretty in this tune... So many flashbacks to my wonder years.😅
Love how you’re opening minded. Even simple songs
Never a fan of blink 182 until hearing the recent singles. Obsessed now
So awesome to see someone that understand a lot about music reviewing this music and video
I love this song! One of their best and the lyrics have depth, particularly if you know what happened to Travis and Mark.
Terrible lyrics
Hi Justin, I hope you´re doing fine! I would love to see your reaction to Kvelertak´s latest single "Endling" from their new album with the same name of the song (it means "the ending" in Norwegian). I saw them live just a couple of days ago and they´re absolutely fantastic! I hope that you also give their album a listen! A big hug from Norway, keep being awesome!
Jesus, didn't expect to see Justin Hawkins reacting to blink182 in my recommended. I will always remember you guys as my history teacher's old band members. I wonder where Mr Mills is now.
Justin Hawkins and Jack Black would work...
Great review, love Blink so happy they've got new music coming
It's really interesting how they're calling back so heavily to their biggest emotional songs in Adam's Song, Stay Together for the Kids, Always, and Miss you, but not rehashing them. In particular miss you, you could sing a parts of that song to the instrumentals in this and it would be fairly close. However this is more evolving those sounds and feelings in a way that feels....very genuine. And shows that they've finally gotten to where Tom wanted them to go when he made Angels and Airwaves. A lot of their songs can sort of be about whomever you want, especially the love songs. They're often non specific, this is highly specific to each member of the band. Almost like you're intruding on something a little bit, they opened their hearts to each other and we are almost accidentally seeing it. Also very much had a feel like...Wiz Khalifa's song with Charlie Puth "See You Again", that they didn't want one of them to be gone and the remaining members have to make that song for their lost friend.
i saw you at reading in 2003 and Blink 182 was on just before Linkin Park headlined, still to this day is the best show iv seen, it great your reacting to them :)
I'll be honest, I didn't really listent to Blink after their first comeback, I've heard the occasional song but I guess I moved on, but put Take Off Your Pants and Jacket on, or anything I grew up with at school and i'm 14 again. This song had me in tears so I guess they mean more to me than i realised.
Man I wish you’d touched on ‘more than you know’ to hear Travis giving it some too!
Justin idk why but you make me want that tea lol. love all your work.
Huge blink-182 fan. Amazing review Sir.
Justin, mate, I was waiting to hear your thoughts on the VERY heavy (and unnecessary) use of autotune on Tom and Mark's voice tracks. I particularly think it doesn't sound great especially when they harmonise towards the end and would be better without it. What are your opinions on the autotune?
Aye cheers for mentioning my comment Justin!
love to see your reaction
Intro is almost Everlong 2:22
but only for a couple of notes.
I’ll give the whole song a listen.
The chords in Everlong are in a gazillions songs. I learnt Be Quiet and Drive and Everlong on the same day back in the 90s 😂
The wait for Travis is worth it on the drums, and this is one of Blink182 most heartfelt songs they have written, but your review was amazing, I'm calling it now, we will get a "Blink 182 unplugged symphony style record in the near future".
Saw them live the other night and it was incredible
You’re such a funny dude, love it
Cool. Love ya Justin ❤
Hadn't seen this before and loved it. Incredible
Can you do More Than You Know? It's like a metal meets pop punk and it's fantastic.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this, Justin ❤
If you like this song you’ll also like the other song they released the same day called more than you know. You really get to hear Travis hit the drums on that one first time I think I’ve heard him really use double bass
Tom and Mark said in an interview let's do this ONE MORE TIME for the last time
Love this band, love this song, loved your review
I think Blink are a guilty pleasure for many - great that they’re back and still rocking!!😎
“Guilty pleasures” are stupid; enjoy the music you like and feel no shame.
im proud to say they are my favourite band honestly
whats their to be guilty about liking blink? most people like them
no guilt here whatsoever, legendary band
I completely agree with you guys - I’m also proud to love Blink, no shame here! 😀 But I’ve got some mates who don’t think it’s cool to say you like them - clearly they’re wrong - you shouldn’t be ashamed or embarrassed about any music you like 👍 My favourite bands are actually Metallica and No Use For A Name but I listen to Taylor Swift as well - tis quite a medley!
yup. That song should win some awards, truly.
Love to see a breakdown of new Awolnation "We Are All Insane" 🙏
Hearing blink 182 pronounced as 1-8-2 is wild. I’m curious how that happened where the wrong pronunciation caught on in the UK
If you study the guitarists (tom delonge) playing among all of his songs, he likes to use variations of power chords. This song feels like something written by tom for the guitarists out there that started play or are inspired by blink.
From brothers into strangers once agÆäņ
I cou’e’en’t see the meaning
Opening guitar strumming reminds me of Foo Fighters Everlong
Love is on-ly a feel-ing... drifting away

Not the biggest Blink 182 fan but that saying, "three chords and the truth" comes to mind. Amazing how that usually makes for a great song. Good stuff.
I was just wondering what you would say after I saw that vid! Sensing some held back waterworks there. ❤
