    As someone who has dealt with heavy drug addiction as well for 20 plus years this song hits different now than it did when when I was 15 or 16 and first listened to it, back when I had hopes and dreams. Hang it there bud, you’re still here for a reason.

      for me travis meeks is glorious in his own way, I know the feeling, some people just stays on the wreck train, its not like to feel pity for him, he is a very talented guy that accomplished many things, more than some of their critics, hopefully he finally finds the balance, and stop hurting himself, and end like many musicians, that dont want to get involved anymore in the ordinary world, It's weird I dont like drugs, but there is a feeling of relief being wasted and not giving a shit about anything while expressing yourself through music, that is a dangerous place

    I don't care what anyone says that entire first album is phenomenally done and just pure genius , the vocal tracks are amazing and singers could learn a lot from that first album with all the counterpoint and harmonies going on not to mention the acoustic playing is well done...Travis really should've kept that band together but At least we got Tantric from it

      It's nice to see an intelligent comment, while not complex sounding, Travis has an undeniable talent. Many of his lyrics hit deep with me. Crazy to think he was 17 when he made these tunes. He was tapped into something special beyond his years. That weight can take it's toll.

    People need to understand that cuz of how talented we all know Travis is we hold him to that standard and that standard alone...we all have habits nobody is perfect...the man has been dealt a bad hand of always feeling inadequate and feelings of no self worth and when you mix that with drug addiction good luck trying to get yourself out..all of that aside I see in this that the guy is an extremely gifted musician and singer

    • @fitgiddlin21
      @fitgiddlin21 Рік тому +1

      Let's also not forget that Travis is on the autism spectrum. He's stated that he has Asperger's (I know that word isn't used anymore) and many people on the spectrum self medicate to feel more "normal" and when you mix mental health with drugs and fame unfortunately sad things happen. It can be hard for us on the spectrum to fit into this world and being in a rock band especially in the 90s makes it very difficult to avoid the constant drugs and alcohol being offered to you. If the music industry actually cared about artists instead of encouraging destructive behaviors we would still have so many of the legends that we have lost to this industry.

    • @williamhermann6635
      @williamhermann6635 Рік тому +1

      @@fitgiddlin21Correct. And he wasnt actually diagnosed until his 20s when he was already hooked on drugs and alcohol. That means he lived his entire childhood and early adulthood with no coping mechanisms and no understanding from those around him. My brother in law has Asberger's and he has a hard enough time without drugs or alcohol and hes 25. I can only imagine how hard it was growing up for Travis.

      Those guys died from addiction, the one big difference is if you think about it this guy started making it so young that he never had a chance to let the drugs take there toll when they was huge, prob could have been. He was breaking into the music scene when he was like 15 prob making millions so young. Living the life they all lived in there late 20s. That fact he is still here is crazy. So musically he prob could have been as big just crashed and burned too early. I’m 41 year nobody and have struggled with heavy drug addiction for 20 years and haven’t done shit in my life, could only imagine If I was on my way to being a rockstar at 17 and battling drugs. So the fact he is still alive is more than they can say! And I love those other guys and especially Layne Staley

    Man… I’m the same age as Travis and been in and out of rehabs myself. Also his Asperger condition didn’t get help until older.
    Finally found myself as it’s an everyday battle. I moved from the sticks to queens sept 27, 2008 to get off H. My wife from here. It worked. Sounds crazy but it’s a different world to me, didn’t know anyone and wanted out. Changing entire environment and access helped. Next problem that came later, alcohol. Took a while and past February 7 finally done. (Hopefully cause been bumps from 2019, 2021 with short spurts). If you struggling and fall off, don’t think you’re back to your old self. Keep talking to others and don’t give up. It’s not easy but you can do it!
    Hope Travis is. That first album always playing and understand part of what he’s going through. A fckd up mind game….

      Man how did you do it! I’m fucking miserable man. Don’t even know where to begin. I’m 41 and over a year clean from an 15 year heroin addiction that destroyed my life. I still do a few things casually but no where on the level that I did h it controlled my life, I’m not longer running around selling my soul I’m just doing nothing but basically staying away from an all day everyday min drug addiction. But I’m still miserable in every other thing in life and I don’t see it getting any better. It’s not getting worse but I’m going nowhere. Listen to this music and other great 90s music as everyone watching this does and can relate.

    Everyone seems to go on about how he is wasting his talent etc.. well kiddos let me tell u all. 1st off let me say that drugs are deadly and I am in no means promoting getting high. What I am saying however is what u see right here is the prodigy of what we all love and enjoy, rock and roll. No one had said how excellently written and composed this song was nor did they go into the struggle that became this song. This song was a hit the moment released as a single, and has continued through the live fast and die hard life of popular music to become instilled in the pillars of time as classic rock. No one took time to realize the struggle that the music industry can be. There were known people in the music industry that would get this guys strung to the gills only to sell music to a certain audience. Addiction is not an easy road and by no means is the music scene. Here will be the truest comment yet made about this video. To Travis and Todd. An awesome f****ng performance brothers and thank you very much. To be going through the life u were, dealing with the addictions that the pharmaceutical companies and the grunge era musical promoters were creating, that you guys cared enough about your fans that regardless of your head state, you played the song for them. So ladies and gentlemen with 12 years of sobriety, and an internationally awarded song writer, dont always criticize a man having a rough spot in life. Just thank him for a rough live performance of one of the top songs in rock and roll history. Hats off to Travis & Todd for caring enough to try to keep their obligations to the industry and their love to the fans

    Sad to see Travis like this. He did go on the Intervention show and a small part of me hoped he would stay clean since his 2005 appearance on that show. Meth is bad i had a group of friends that did it constantly for about four years, things got so bad i quit hanging out with that group and started spending my money on better things than partying. Not downing anyone that does drugs cause i've had problems with alcohol off and on for years so i know its hard to quit.

      He's slurring and slowing down and messing up a ton, but yes when you've played a song or songs 50 million times you can do that although obviously I don't recommend it because other than death and bad health it is really messing up his ability to perform

    OH FUCK!!!!! TAKE THIS DOWN!!!! THIS ABSOLUTELY SHOULDN'T BE ON UA-cam WHERE PEOPLE MAY SEE THIS AND NEVER FIND THE MUSIC THAT MADE TRAVIS MEEKS A VERITABLE GOD WHEN IT CAME TO THE GENRE AND TIME IT CAME OUT!!! TRAVIS WAS 16 WHEN HE WROTE EVERY PIECE OF MUSIC AND THE LYRICS TO ALL DAYS OF THE NEW MUSIC!!! WHAT'S HAPPENED TO TRAVIS WITH HIS SUBSTANCE ABUSE ISSUES IS ABSOLUTELY HEARTBREAKING TO HIS REAL FANS. HERE IS A MAN WHO WROTE MY PERSONAL FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME (AND I'M INTO SO MUCH MUSIC THAT FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO SAY A SINGLE SONG IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE IS MAYBE THE HIGHEST PRAISE IVE EVER GIVEN AN ARTIST IN MY LIFE!) THE MUSIC INDUSTRY GAVE HIM ALL THE MONEY, FAME, AND ALL ELSE THAT COMES ALONG WITH STARDOM AND HE WASN'T EVEN 18 YET!!!! THIS, DURING A TIME WHEN ESSENTIALLY EVERY FRONT MAN IN THE SCENE WAS INJECTING ONE THING OR ANOTHER AND THEY WERE DROPPING LIKE FLIES, TRAVIS MEEKS WAS THRUST INTO A LIFESTYLE GROWN MEN COULD NOT HANDLE AND ITS A MIRACLE HE'S STILL WITH US.
    ADDICTS AND MUSICIANS ARE SENSITIVE TO CRITICISM AND FOR HIM TO HAVE TO SEE THIS ONLINE I CANNOT IMAGINE IT'S DOING ANYTHING GOOD TO HIS EMOTIONS. I ASK YOU TO PLEASE REMOVE THIS VIDEO, FROM A FAN WHO TRULY HAS LOVE AND COMPASSION TO THE MAN WHOSE MUSIC GOT HIM THROUGH SO MUCH. PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING!!!

    It is a sad thing to watch someone with that much God given natural talent, let it wash away in a cloud of drug induced disconnect. I would commit murder to possess the level of musical talent he has, I've been playing music for the better for of my 57 years, and some might say that I have talent, but until you have tried to create a song that you hope will effect people's emotions, touch their souls, it is hard to understand what real " Talent" is. It is literally like the verse in The Ride by David Allen COE, Mr. Can you make folks cry when you play and sing? If you can't do that, then you don't have talent.
