In this series of videos me and my twin brother convert an ex-amazon delivery van which we bought for £2000 from facebook marketplace and we have 10 days to convert this into a campervan that we can live and travel in, around Germany for 6 weeks as we follow England around at the Euros.

The updates for Carly are not free as you say, it is a subscription based system and you have to pay each year. Lots of UA-camrs flogging the Carly get this wrong and dont tell people the purchase price is actually just the first years subscription ! Very misleading.

You have 10 days to completely build out your Amazon van. So time isn't on your side. I think it is best you arrange a proper and complete inspection (and potentially fix) of the van before you sink any more money and time into it ASAP/Now. There is no point if you did all the build-out (even halfway through it) to later find out the van is not mechanically sound, unreliable, and not even work at all (you already experienced the problem, with starting the van, oil leak, the axle, and potentially more issues you are not aware of). So I think it is best you take that van to a professional mechanic to have a complete look-over, especially making it safe for the trip for all three of you! Based on the mechanic's report, you can decide to go ahead with the build-out or not, without too much loss in time and money.
Turn the key, wait for the glow plug light to go off, then start it up 👍🏻🤙🏼

Tip for round head on screw or bolt if you use the grinder to create a slot in the head then use a flat head screwdriver to remove might come in handy in the future 👍🏻

You don't turn the engine on where you read diagnostic...just key on first position...
Also when you start the Van you must wait the heaters to do the job, it's diesel.
So when you turn it on wait on first position for the yellow light to go off and then you start the engine

lil tip for threaded screws: use a elastic band between the head and drill / screw driver.
Really I’ll have to give that a try next time

im a trained mechanic and use a carly they are great. next time you buy a car or van before you go write a list of things you want to check as in the moment people forget just a tip to help. great videos.

My tip for tight rusty screws is to use a manual screwdriver to start the removal this gives more feel and prevents ruining the slots. Also, you were right to hammer the driver in for extra bite.

You did well. My first van was ex-tradesmen and it took me a week to remove all the crud, blades and screws.
He should have given you money to take it away. But i wish you all the best with your endeavour and hope you make it to the Euros in time.

Brilliant - the van came up really well with the jet wash - great prep. Sikaflex seems to love clothes, I fitted a Maxxfan this weekend and the damed stuff ended up everywhere - even where I hadn’t touched it seemed! I think you will be alright and get there in time... Just make sure to get engine everything checked out. And that piss bottle was vile. Tip, you can try putting a elastic band on the screw hole too, that can give you a grip when you use the drill. Otherwise you can actually buy drill bits that removes screwed where the top thread is gone.... They come in a set, ebay, amazon, screwfix ect sells them. They come in handy removing stripped screws. Anyway look forward to the next video.

I have a scanguage 3. It’s plugged in 24 seven and monitors everything that yours does but also while you’re driving so if you happen to break down while you were on a trip, it will log temperatures and every single thing that happened when the vehicle died. It has more features like mileage etc too. Has a digital screen so you can custom make gauges you want to monitor when you drive.

You can use an elastic band for rounded screws just put it over the screw and unscrew

I totally agree with you, we’ve had to take a risk because of the time pressure of getting it done before we leave on Saturday. Thankfully I’ve got a mechanic coming out so we’ll have to wait and see

When trying to remove a screw that have a worn slot / phillips head. Place a large rubber band or balloon over the screw head and the driver will grip to allow you to undo the screw.

As a self taught mechanic an oil leak means two things, there is at least oil in it and you’re getting free rust protection… which is very timely on this model of transit😂
