Big big money saver . You can do this at the body shop just grab jet black toner , throw it in a cup with reducer , throw down one coat of that over your primer and boom saving money and shop costs.
Good tips, Just attempted my first paint job/learning experience with speedokote. Applied the primer, base then clear. I did OK up to the clear, I did the clear so nice, I got to do it twice. Mistakes were trying to cover too much real estate in one go and not really knowing what I should be looking at or seeing as I was applying it, but seemed to get it at the end of the first attempt. Sanded and reapplied the cleared to just sections instead of the whole truck at once, hood and roof which came out 10 times better than the first attempt. Sanding the doors today applying clear tomorrow.
I just got done spraying whole car speedokote, hi build primer 2k and 2k hi gloss glamour with pigment in a lvlp gun. Never using a spray gun before. This is a very good product. I am a first time sprayer and had my hiccups but this combo is a stellar product. Orange peel, some runs and cut and buff expected for fist time user. But damn... the car looks awesome and I learned alot.
Hi Marco hope you are keeping well👌some really good advice in this video especially regarding the speed of your reducer in the basecoat, I use slow all the year round these days as I'm lucky enough to have a heater in my home workshop so even when it's like -5C with a frost on the ground I can still get it up to 22-24C in my booth😎 The VW looks amazing with a nice flat glassy finish which I expect was down to the prep and getting the basecoat down as flat as possible, if your substrate if flat then your on the road to getting your clear down real nice👏🙏👍John UK
I like to see use smr 42 in cold weather.. and pre heat your clear in hot water bath or micro wave it then add activator.. you promissed to do a video on heating your clear in cold weather...last year
I have other high solids clears I spray in the winter but I personally always prefer a medium solids for winter . But everyone has a different method !
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 ya I do mostly restoration and custom work so speed isn't a priority I like clears that are open longer lays down and with the air flow keeps out alot of dirt nibs

Don’t be afraid to bump it up as high as 50 psi, it won’t blow up. High solid clears love higher pressure and warm up the clear in hot water, etc. as temps cool.
After watching a number of youtubers painting I decided on Speedokote products DTM 2.1 black primer, Clear base SMR-3500LV to carry Eye Candy Monitor Lizard pearl and covered with Speedokote SS-132 2k clear.
