I live(d) on Dillingham. Yesterday the road just started to open up but it is hardly passable without four wheel drive. They're basically rezoning the road as they go with gravel and it's one lane in some spots. It's unrecognizable/disorienting. Many homes washed away or wrapped around trees. The locals congregate at the old fire station at the end of Dillingham and they have boards listing names of missing people, etc. but it seems like it's mostly willing locals and private companies doing the work. I'm sure some organization or fire dept is involved but honestly, even with federal agencies deployed there are many of these rural communities that are only getting attention by the residents who stayed or who have returned post-evacuation. I know lots of help is going to Asheville and they need it too, but it will be a while before the little pockets in the mountain are even touched by the big names and by then there will only be bodies to recover, either from attempted evacuations or people who died after the fact from lack of water and inability to reach aid stations in town. I've heard horror stories from other locals and we all agree the "official" death count across the counties are bogus, completely and intentionally being underreported. In months to come they will STILL be finding bodies up in the mountains and in remote valleys where people tried to escape after it was too late.

Some areas are probably not rebuildable due to topography changes. That said know we are otherwise ok! Still trying to get to many up in the mountains. The majority of rescue parties doing that are good old boys with chainsaws and ATV’s: Many are still without power and most of us are without water and will be for a while. Everyone I know is grateful for the thoughts and prayers offered by God fearing folks such as yourself. Know that we are strong and we will be fine in due time. There is always have hope in Christ Jesus!
PLEASE pray now for All of Florida! We are in Tarpon Springs and this next hurricane coming here this Wed! Cat 5!!
Did you and your loved ones make it through ok?
Help today is one thing, and desperately needed. But please don't forget these fine folks in Appalachia who always seem to be forgotten about as they seek to recover in the days, weeks, and months to come. They're gonna need a LOT of long term help, long after the FEMA trucks leave and government checks are cashed.
My gosh.....it's 2024...with all the modern advancements...and still.....where are state of the art search & rescue missions?!? This is Heartbreaking! 💔
Are they sending drones to check out where these people are like I'm in Stony Fork barnardsville
They have Dillingham cut off. Are they rescuing everyone?
Yes, and helicopters.
I'm favoured only God knows how much I praise Him, $230k every 4weeks! I now have a big mansion and can now afford anything and also support God’s work and the church.
Only God knows how much grateful i am. After so much struggles I now own a new house and my family is happy once again everything is finally falling into place!!
Wow that's huge, how do you make that much monthly?
I'm 37 and have been looking for ways to be successful, please how??
It's Ms. Susan Jane Christy doing, she's changed my life.
Wow...I know her too she is a licensed broker and a FINRA agent she is popular in
US and Canada she is really amazing woman with good skills and experience.
My preschool teacher and her son & wife owned the Mangalista Pig Farm/Glamping site in Waynesville, on the Pigeon River. Apparently they were airlifted out. 🙏🏼 Prayers for Doni, Rick & Catherine Topel. (Im 40. This woman rubbed my back as a child, many tea parties, and my parents got married in her home.)
There shouldn't be a penny leave our country until all the people here in the us are taken care of
This devastation has just begun.
Most businesses will not reopen.
Families are afraid for their futures.
We will never know the extent of the death from this storm. It will be downplayed, lied about, brushed off.
No - natural disasters happen - everything is not a conspiracy theory
Remember Hurricane Helene survivors and devastated areas are in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, and Georgia. Prayers for all survivors. My ccousin, Tammy, works in administrative healthcare. She returned to work late last week in Asheville. She saw several dead bodies near the roadside. The death toll probably is much higher than what is being reported.
Praying for all involved in the true rescue efforts for Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Georgia, South & North Carolina. May your families remain safe in your absence. +♡+
Praying for everyone! ❤

Lake Lure NC fire chief allegedly threatened a private helicopter pilot to stop rescue missions. Jordan Seidhom, who had made a number of rescues over a day and a half, and worked with several fire and rescue personnel, had just rescued a stranded woman when he was approached by the fire chief and threatened to be arrested for interfering. Seidhom was told not to fly back up the hill to get his son, who stayed behind with the woman’s husband, as there was only room for one person at a time in his aircraft. Despite the threat, Seidhom returned for his son, but was forced to leave the man stranded, and now separated from his wife.

Stay strong- help your neighbor if you can- We're all in this together
Why hasn't anybody interviewed a prepper? It seems like this would be the time to evaluate whether "getting ready for when the SHTF" is actually worth the time, effort, and investment.
Gosh i'm hurting for these people with such devastation, how will they survive, i mean so many people displaced from their homes, businesses and employment, from friends and family. My head can't wrap around how this is going to be restored. God be with these devastated cities, and people, RIP to all the gone, 😪😪. Praying.
This is sad. Was there any evacuation orders given? Praying for the families & victims & hope everyone recovers and heals.
THERE'S STILL OVER 230 MISSING TODAY. IMAGINE FINDING PEOPLE ENCASED IN MUD FOR DAYS OR BLOATED FROM THE FLOODING DAYS LATER
" ive nvr seen anything like this before " Nobody has except Lahaina.. Whole cities gone..Seems very un natural .
Thank you for at least telling the truth that help has not been there. Most news stations won’t tell the truth.
The news can't get everywhere just for a photo. The roads and bridges are out. Stop spreading lies that people don't care.
I just listened to General Flynn, you won't believe what is going on...
They can’t get through
Insurance companies will start leaving NC.😢

It's a work in progress, NOTHING IS AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY
This comment - it is a huge area - roads are impassible- natural disasters are hard to recover from - seems Americans are delusional inclined to conspiracy theories and with no concept of nuance/context/timing
And yet no help from our government. Just send all our tax money to other countries. Disgusting.
