People tend to forget, that AI is already enhancing every single photo you are taking. Otherwise those crappy image sensors on your phone wouldn't be able to provide you with such crisp and high detailed shots. So all that Samsung is doing is just training that AI to be better with one specific object (the moon) then with the rest because if you didn't know, the moon always looks the same when viewed from earth.

So many people have no idea how ai works, it doesn't add detail that's not there. The first video is proven fake, it enhances detail that's in the image and reduces any noise. The popular reddit post is easy to explain to, it uses the ai to deblur the image, its pretty easy to do bc it did math for each point in the photo to deblur it. Read samsungs article people, that was not a white circle in the og video, it was a moon with the brightness turned up too high for the camera to see until he zoomed
Technically not taking a photo of the moon as all it does is overlay an existing image of the moon so not a real photo taken, may as well just search for a picture in google

Samsung's AI doesn't magically makes moon appear.. they just enhance the details just like every other smartphone camera. Huawei on the other hand straight up puts overlays because moon looks the same always.
im sure in some circumstances, there were tests done of a white circle and the phone replicated the moon details onto it. but this can be turned off if you turn off the scene optimiser.

Pretty sure one of the AI parameters is the tilt offset of your phone. Ofc it’s not gonna automatically fill in the moon if you are pointing it at the ground and the object is close by (it also has a distance sensor for depth photos)

And they are also considering that sky to predict that the camera is actually seeing the moon.

They've patched this. The phone detects if you're facing the white circle horizontally. Because the moon is always in a sky so you need to tilt your phone. Try placing the white circle on the ceiling and then boom. 💥

The phone's sensors know the orientation of the phone and its not pointed up at the sky. Try holding the white circle in front of the phone camera when the phone is pointed at the area of the sky where the actual moon is.

From what I know it uses the base image as a guide to fill in the details of the moon, because the moon is basically same anywhere you go. So unless it detects some dark patches on the surface it'll Not work
First you can literally see clouds at the start or some other object and second the white circle was basically touching the edges of the phone but then suddenly the black area becomes super wide
I've done this like a year ago but only using "Pro" mode If you change the fps, the iso, the focus, and the coloring, you can actually take a picture of the moon Did this on the S9+ and then on the s22 ultra but like a while back before this update And it looks similar, I assume it has some auto adjustment for it in the main camera mode And also with filters bcuz Pro mode does like less filtering
Funny because channels like mrwhostheboss confirmed that Samsung uses an AI to add and sharpen details onto a moon looking circle. Moon situated up in the sky! So, it's highly possible that, developer is using gyroscope data to sense the direction of the where you are shooting (up/front/down) and when it detects, capturing white circle upside with excess zoom thn AI kicks in to fill up the details.
Should clear some things up. The reason why people are mad about it is not because the photos are fake, it is that they did not disclose that it adds detail with AI. One of Samsungs primary selling points is that their phone cameras are good. I should add that it isn’t an overlay. The problem isn’t the AI, basically any decent phone uses it these days, it’s that it was never mentioned.

The phone's sensors know the orientation of the phone and its not pointed up at the sky. Try holding the white circle in front of the phone camera when the phone is pointed at the area of the sky where the actual moon is.
It only puts the filter over it if you use 100x zoom

From what I know it uses the base image as a guide to fill in the details of the moon, because the moon is basically same anywhere you go. So unless it detects some dark patches on the surface it'll Not work

Welp mostly Samsung phones don't take fake moon pictures and Parker proves it 😂
First you can literally see clouds at the start or some other object and second the white circle was basically touching the edges of the phone but then suddenly the black area becomes super wide
I've done this like a year ago but only using "Pro" mode
If you change the fps, the iso, the focus, and the coloring, you can actually take a picture of the moon
Did this on the S9+ and then on the s22 ultra but like a while back before this update
And it looks similar, I assume it has some auto adjustment for it in the main camera mode
And also with filters bcuz Pro mode does like less filtering

Funny because channels like mrwhostheboss confirmed that Samsung uses an AI to add and sharpen details onto a moon looking circle. Even flipping a picture of the moon and taking a photo flipped the moon back. I'm not an Apple or Samsung user so I'm saying this without any influence from each company.
Actually the Samsung phone knows that the moon can’t be that close on 60x magnification so it doesn’t do the thing, i think it will work with 100x magnification
Guess what, if you use a blurry photo of the moon instead of a white circle it will change it to a hd picture of the moon using an AI to enhance it. Now the reason people are so mad is because Google said that the photo is not edited or changed in any way.
Samsung literally admitted to it. It’s shameful to propagate this feature like that, but still a very logical inclusion of AI-components.
Also what ppl dont understand is that ai doesnt legit put a google searched photo of the moon and put it in place of the real one (atleast not samsung’s) it makes a blurred unseeable picture of the moon and makes it more seeable and better looking to the eye
I think you need to zoom in all the way and if it doesn’t put a image over the fake moon go out on a full moon zoom in and take a long exposure photo

I have a samsung s20 ultra and ive gotten some pretty good photos of the moon and even tested it on planes and it actually works it could be possible with how far ai has come but im pretty convinced that it actually works
Samsung does uses AI but to make the moon more sharper S22 or S23 isn't that dumb it is really intelligent in recognizing if it is a white bulb, circle or a moon

So, it's highly possible that, developer is using gyroscope data to sense the direction of the where you are shooting (up/front/down) and when it detects, capturing white circle upside with excess zoom thn AI kicks in to fill up the details.
As long as there is details like the moon, it will use scene optimizer and make the moon sharper

Should clear some things up. The reason why people are mad about it is not because the photos are fake, it is that they did not disclose that it adds detail with AI. One of Samsungs primary selling points is that their phone cameras are good. I should add that it isn’t an overlay. The problem isn’t the AI, basically any decent phone uses it these days, it’s that it was never mentioned.
They should have know that even their regular selfie has AI enhancement
