Very nice! In 1981 & 82 I was working as a apprentice aircraft mechanic in the Canadian north, the company I worked for Ram Air Charter owned a Queen Air similar to yours except with IGSO - 480 engines. I was supervised doing a top overhaul on the engines and our pilot took me up for the test flight letting me fly it around for 15 minutes, then he did a power on stall...that was memorable! She was fully stalled and came down like a brick! Lots of fun back then. Those direct drive engines must be more economical?
Your amazon link to Ferry Pilot doesn't seem to be working for me. Also, I don't know what goes into making an audible version, but I love to listen to books and go watch jets (35's and 16's) at Luke AFB here in the Phoenix area most days for lunch.
I got checked out in the U8F with the geared engines when I was in the Va Guard I felt like I was flying a WW2 ERA aircraft. The Army decided to take ours and put the 720’s on her we were excited to get engines that we didn’t have to baby so much. They ended up giving us a brand new King Air C12D and it came with it’s own civilian crew chief who babied that aircraft, we thought we had died an went to Heaven. Never had any issues!
I gotta admit, I'd heard of the Swearing Merlin but didn't know much about it so I had look it up. It looks like a great plane! Based on the Queen Air, so I'm biased. I wonder if there are any still flying?
@@KerryDMcCauley does a lot of ice end up building up there? I've noticed some boots on non-fiki 310s lack that as well and also vertical stabilizer boots and always wondered if less ice builds up on those surfaces?
My first "big airplane" corporate job after leaving the USAF (C-7A, KC-135) in 1972. Great airplane and easy to fly. I always wanted to own an EXCALIBER" but ended up owning several other fun airplanes during my 47 year career as a professional pilot. '
IGSO-480 originally on the Queen Air. The Excalibur mod is a perfect fit-normally aspirated Lycoming IO-720-basically 2 IO-360's-bulletproof. The Great State of Wisconsin had several of those 'ol girls in their fleet way back in the 90's-couple of good friends of mine drove them. Great sturdy planes.
You have no idea how badly I want a Queenie. I'm totally fine with my Baron, but if I had a bigger hangar, I'd be ripping around in a Queen. Get this, The Wife approves - she'd be my copilot and a stew! Can't wait to see/hear this beaut fly!
Very nice classic. The sound of two 720 going by must be incredible.
It sure is!
I’m most looking forward to seeing the Queen Air videos. I’ve always loved these planes.
I'm super pumped to get Connor in the left seat!
@@KerryDMcCauley I imagine so. I’m in the process of buying a queen air right now. It needs some love but mechanically is sound.
How many years was the queen made?
Built in 1960.
Nice plane look forward to seeing a detailed flight on it go pro vlog thanks for sharing all the best cheers
What a gorgeous airplane! Thanks for sharing

Not sure if they were more economical but they sure sound nicer! I love that big beast!

Audible version on the way in a few months!
I like the Space Shuttle paint job on that airplane! My french bulldog (Francis) would love a ride! He has mutt muffs!!!
Reading Ferry Pilot now. Great book, especially the poop bomb
Lol! Glad you're enjoying it!
I love that plane !!!
If money wasn't a problem... what aircraft would you love to own and fly?
For an overall airplane I'd probably go with a King Air 200. Reasonably fast and you can take the door off it and use it as a jump ship.
Found your channel recently after already having read your books. Great books dude! Was a fun read and neat to see inside the hanger.
Awesome, thank you!

Another excellent video! I love your books and love to hear more about your stories. Please keep them coming.
Thanks! I've got more on the way.
Btw does it have the augmenter exhaust? I loved the sound those made
I believe it does.
Love to come out and fly the 182 jump plane and the Queen Air is a powerhouse
She is a beast!
I miss the Swearingen Merlin IIB

The pilots were swearing!😂
Got your book last year! Merry Christmas!
Thank you! I hope you liked it. Merry Christmas!
i take these twice a month on my commute. They are pretty sweet. The company I use have two, each have the 8 cylinder upgrade.
Where is that? I didn't know anyone was using Queen Airs commercially except for Bemidji Air who flies cargo in them.
Fresh Air in Northern MI@@KerryDMcCauley
Gotta Love those 8 cylinders! Awesome!
You got that right!
How is the wing inside of the engines cleared from ice? There are no boots on the leading edge
Easy, they're not!

I've flown over 65 different types of aircraft and the Queen Air is still one of my favorites.

You'd love it! Thet fly like a dream! And being able to walk back and use the relief tube is... well, a relief!
This comes across as something for sale…..
You mean my Queen AIr? No way. I'll never sell it!
