In this video, Dr. Berg talks about How to never get dental cavities (decay). It's very weird for a child to get decay in a part of their body. How can this be? Enamel is stronger than steel. It happens like this - de-mineralization occurs when the pH of the saliva drops and becomes too acid (4-5.5), when it is supposed to be 7.
Minerals leach out in the presence of acid. This occurs because of excess bacteria making the acid. One step before this is excess sugar in the diet. An average child consumes a ton of sugar and even liquid candy (soda). Get the child off sugar and replace it with alternative sugars like non-GMO xylitol.

I had a friend who ate and drank plenty of sugary foods and sodas yet never got any cavities. That continued into his thirties without worry until he got diabetes. Yet, he still had no cavities. I didn't have that kind of confidence because I had plenty of them up to my early twenties. So I pretty much cut out sugar and think I was fortunate enough to have had them. Otherwise I might also continued and wound up a diabetic as well.

Sugar itself doesn’t cause the decay . The bacteria in your mouth consume the sugar and the byproduct is a toxin that rots the enamel. It’s the toxin. But of course sugar is the food and toxin the by product. If you do eat sugar brush right away or consume the sugar w food ( like dessert ) and don’t sip soda all day long that’s bathing the teeth and providing bacteria w food all the time and yes PH always acidic in your mouth.

Then they started developing more autonomy, it became more difficult to speak on their behalf (though yes, ultimately you're still the one in control) and when you combine that with attending birthday parties and holiday events, preschool and the school events.....well....it gets tricky. You have to be prepared with alternatives all the time and sometimes your not....then there is relatives, lol. Society has a way of sneaking into the bubble.

Practicing dentist here. This is a very good, concise presentation of the basic etiology of dental caries.
And to be clear, xylitol is not just another sugar substitute. It is an indigestible (to humans) sugar alcohol that also has bacteriostatic properties, meaning that the cavity-causing bacteria in your mouth are inhibited when they ingest it. At it’s most fundamental level, dental caries is an infectious disease that requires control of bacteria to fully address, and xylitol is one component of this.

Addressing the number of sugar and acid exposures in the diet throughout the day is just one leg of the treatment process. The biggest one is sipping on water throughout the day instead of juices/sodas/energy drinks/sports drinks, which all contain sugars and are acidic.
As far as restorative treatment for existing cavities, that would be dictated by the depth/extent of the decay and age of the child. As such, it’s hard to answer this without more info unfortunately.

True Story: July 2018, my teeth started to ache. I had a check up, and the dentist found multiple cavities. However, I could not afford to get the work done, so I popped ibuprofen to kill the pain. Coincidentally, that same month, I began reducing my sugar (because of Berg's videos) until I barely ate any. The tooth pain lasted for about a month, then one day I realised it was gone. My mouth felt great. In August 2019, I slipped, and ate lots of sugary things for a few weeks. The throbbing pain returned. I was back to ibuprofen. I stopped eating sugar and the pain disappeared within five days. It's now September 24th and my cavities don't hurt. Some day, I'll be able to get my teeth fixed, but until them, I'm keeping the pain away by not eating sugar.

Agreed! Also, if you're going to have sweet treats, have them at mealtimes when the ph is already going to be low. Sipping on soda/sweet drinks all day KEEPS the mouth acidic.

My teeth started to decay young, after braces the enamel was ‘stripped’. I was not a sugar or soda consumer either. Ice cream not to often. Dentists would have my teeth break as they worked on them. Spent close to 1/2 a million trying to save them.
Found out in late 30’s after losing most of my teeth, I had a malabsorption issue.

I relate!! When twelve I changed my diet to try to save my teeth...quit chocolates and sweets no soda no snacks...didnt stop the decay. The issue us complex it seems to involve absorption of minerals and nutrients and nerve supply to the teeth and inflammation.

@@hadleybee9710 yes, definitely I watched my daughter for the signs no one saw in me. Yep had her tested early She has the same malabsorption issue. She can’t stand sweets, at 21 has had only three cavities. Her teeth are beautiful. Early knowledge, early intervention saved her teeth.

@matchpoint it’s true I did not get ripped off, they tried to save my teeth and keep them in my mouth. Gold posts, root canals, oral surgery twice.. antibiotics… I have seven teeth left and dentures. They no more about digestive issues today than they did in the 70’s

I acknowledge your knowledge doctor but as someone who's lost 15 teeth I can tell you there's something more dangerous to the teeth than sugar. It's sour fruit rolls. They are extremely acidic and can dissolve the calcium quite easily through direct contact (not a two stage process like sugar). Dried apricot is the next worst thing.

Fluoride corrodes teeth. Believe it or not, it’s shocking, but I can vouch for two things that changed when a group of people including me cut fluoride intake 100%. No more cavities, no more decay, and mentally no longer gullible, suggestive. It is for dentists, it is for drinking water making sheeple in the cities.

At the Queen Mary University of London they recently developed a toothpaste called BioMin C which should help to quickly repair decayed teeth with some bioactive substance.
Of course prevention is the best method, if your teeth are decaying it means your body is generally in bad shape, but it’s an interesting development nevertheless.
