“missing limbs” is kinda equivalent to “phantom limb syndrome” where amputees get excruciating pain (mostly psychological) in the spot of said missing limb. So that last line “and I live like I got missing limbs for you” is genius. Vessel is a genius.
came here to say the same thing its like he can put words to emotions that feel impossible to describe
It's like Kyle said countless times: WHO THINKS LIKE THAT? The way he puts words together is just in a whole new level
This is the exact line that made me burst into tears at Red Rocks. This song has never made me cry before but the emotions and the performance just unlocked it and the tears flowed. It's such a devastatingly poignant lyric
@@ColieBear18 OMG, I was at Red Rocks too! I cried through the whole song. I got one crappy photo in the beginning and then just lost it.
It would be cool if you reacted to the collab Sleep Token and Loathe did called “is it really you?” It’s beautifully done. Thanks for this journey - you folks are some of the best reactors on YT!
YESSS! They did say they will do everything they’ve done so I’m sure they will do it 🥳
Excellent song
Vessel's voice on that track is definitely my "go-to fall asleep at bedtime" song!! ❤
Oh man if they did, Kyle this song might break you. It’s haunting, it’s beautiful, it’s amazingly Loathe, the beauty of Sleep Token, but with the pain of both bands
You should really check out Backlit
Canopy
YES!!!! the albums loop. Bloodsport ends with piano, Atlantic starts with it, missing limbs ends with a weird synth sound, chokehold starts with it, Euclid ends with the same melody TNDNBTG starts with
It's absolutely genius. No one else has done that to my knowledge. WORSHIP ❤️
@@13kellyrDream Theater did this from Metropolis pt II through Octavarium
Absolutely!
Missing Limbs loops into both Atlantic and Chokehold! Muffled ambulance sirens at the end of Missing Limbs takes us to Vessel waking up from the failed “attempt” on Atlantic
@@jerryotic298 did register that those were sirens. Thought they were just a weird synth. They must be down tuned right?
So idk if you guys noticed but for the visualizers under the name of the song to the right it says how many meters under water. So missing limbs the last song on the album is 10,924m down. The Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean the deepest part is exactly 10,924m deep. I thought that was pretty cool
Holy shit.
There was also some sort of coordinates 9n all the singles and stuff that added together to be point Nemo (correct me if I am wrong) which is the farthest from land that there is
And ironically, Marianas trench are another band that have songs run seemlessly in albums and constantly call back to their older songs. Ever after is one of my favourite albums and if you listen to masterpiece theatre, the last song (masterpiece theatre 3) calls back throughout the whole album.
Ayooo Leviathan Sun.
I might be wrong, but I'm sure I read somewhere that the noise at the end of missing limbs was some kind of instrument deep underwater
"Yet in reverse, you are all my symmetry..."
And there’s the faces I knew I would see when he said, “…to remember what you are to him”
Glad they caught the Chokehold link right away. 100% a trilogy.
Well with this album wrapped up now, can't wait until they cover 1. Fields of Elation is one of my absolute favorites from this band.
One of the most wild things to think about is how each album's last song ties in to the next album's first song and then euclid directly to TNDNBTG! Massive big brain planning from Vessel!
It’s really not that wild. It’s a cool thing, progressions and callbacks and motif’s and all that, but it’s hardly groundbreaking.
@chuckh9168 I know callbacks are a thing, especially in ST, but I've never heard bands end one album with a certain note and then the first song on their next album starts with the same exact note or one in the same chord
Don’t forget the Loathe cover, “Is it really you”.
PLease!!!!!!!! they should check loathe as a whole hahahah
People who have been left or abandoned by a significant other know exactly how it feels to live with missing limbs for someone.
THANK YOU BOTH for going through this journey. I’ll never get to listen to Sleep Token for the first time ever again, but watching you two experience that brought me back to that first time.
Worship. ❤
Agreed! Love these reactions, brings me back to the first time too
I am just starting to listen to Sleep Token TODAY. Because of this video. holy craaaaaap. I’m going down the rabbit hole as we speak!
This song has always hit me so hard because it feels so raw. There’s no fancy words, almost like he’s broken character. It’s always felt like the most ‘real’ song.
Indeed
Would LOVE a reaction to Sleep Token's Calcutta...music video as well. One of my personal favorites. Is it really you is also amazing.
Agreeeedddddd!!!
Same !!!!
YESSSSSS
All of their songs from their EPs!!!
I've just said the exact same I think they would appreciate checking this one out
A cave cast dedicated to Sleep Token? Uh, yes please.
CANNOT WAIT for you guys to get to the EPs! 🤘🏻☺️
Loved all reactions, rewatch them all the time! I have had Sleep Token on repeat since Feb 2023.
I haven't listened to anyone else except Sleep Token for probably the last 2 years, no one else compares
Something I always founded awesome for the Trilogy is that Sundowning ended with Blood Sport’s piano when Tomb starts with Atlantic’s piano and then Tomb ends with a distorted synth in Missing Limbs when Eden starts with a synth in Chokehold. And finally Eden ends with Euclid’s TNDNBTG section where Sundowning starts with TNDNBTG. Full Circle.
The end of this is drowning, but the start of the chokehold video is ascending. None of the other videos have that. You can see the avatar coming up out of the horizontal.
I'd like to watch you guys do a marathon of all three albums in order. I don't think anyone has done that, at least that I've seen. Obviously it's a time commitment, and a lot of editing for you guys, but I think it would be really special. I've done it myself, but it's not as fun or engaging for me to do alone. Part of the magic of these videos you upload is that it feels like we're listening with friends. I frequently go back and watch your previous Sleep Token (and other) videos, and a marathon would be something I would re-watch and want to experience again and again. That said, I want to thank you for allowing us to come along on this journey with you two. It's been a ride, for sure. Worship.
So I have watched your entire journey with Sleep Token, and I find myself rewatching many of your reactions to them. I thought you guys would be interested in this artist I found on UA-cam who makes Sleep Token songs with an Orchestra added. I think it adds so much depth and I’m in love. His name is Jamie Turton! I would kill for your guys’ reaction to what he does to their songs.
Songs like this aren’t just music.. this is stuff that touches your soul.. man I can’t even begin to imagine what vessel went through to sing what he sings about. Thank you guys for the journey ❤
This one live is goosebumps. Every. Time.
Agree. There's a very good quality fan shot video recorded from right in front of Vessel available on UA-cam, that's worth checking out!
Hell, it gives me goosebumps every time period 😂
I can’t wait for Nazareth, Jericho and Calcutta 🥹❤️
NAZARETH!!! That is one that’s going to throw you WAY off….lol
My son (23 y/o) loves this group. He finally got to see them live last year and he said he couldn't hold in his tears, sobbed like a baby, lol.
I saw them this past Friday for the first and I teared up during their last song. Amazing live!
The way i had to stop myself from hitting play and had to prep myself by saying "its time..." and take a deep breath, this song drives a knife to your gut every time...
Out of all the sleep token songs, this is the one that absolutely breaks me. Going through break ups and all the things that come with that and seeing the people that meant the world to you move on, this song just hits all the right buttons to express how people feel in that situation and I love them for this
The sound at the end is in reference to how it feels to miss a limb, the "Pins and Needles" feeling you get from Phantom Limb Syndrome. The Chokehold link is a cool idea, but they aren't related.
You have 2 EPs as well. Don't forget about One and Two. I'm really excited for you guys to react to Two. Worship. 🤘
“Nobody can fall so low unless he has a great depth. If such a thing can happen to a man, it challenges his best and highest on the other side; that is to say, this depth corresponds to a potential height, and the blackest darkness to a hidden light”
- Carl Jung
Vessel was inspired by him. I'm sure of it!
Wow!
One, Two, and Jaws LP’s are all you have left, so 7 songs I believe. Then there is the room below performance, w a few covers yet, but I could be wrong on that, but I’m pretty sure you have Jericho, When the Bough Breaks, Calcutta (which has a music video, so you can see how it started) Thread the Needle, Fields of Elation, Jaws, The way that you were (featuring Loathe) then The Room below.
This song is so emotional. I was sitting in my car waiting for my groceries at Walmart Pick-up and just burst into tears. And it wasnt the first time hearing it. It just caught me in the feels so hard in that moment. Vessel is a genius and the way he's tied all the albums together is phenomenal. I'm stoked to be seeing them in May. Every show on their North American tour and Canada is sold out! That should tell people something 😅. Greatness awaits and I'm so excited. Can't wait to see your reactions to their EPs and singles. The Way That You Were and Jaws are my favorite singles. Hell, any song by them is my favorite 😂
WORSHIP ❤
So glad I was there for the whole journey with you guys.
Please, react to the cover of Hallelujah they did during a concert few years ago, there’s a video on UA-cam. 🙏🏻 (It’s not an official cover so I needed to ask you in case you didn’t know about this one 🥺)
To me, the last part sounds like UK ambulance sirens distorted through water, and it gets louder - like he is being pulled toward the surface, screaming. Like he's being saved from the ocean after he attempts the long sleep (or after the accident - which is a whole other theory relating to the actual story under the lore). I love Tomb so incredibly much.
The juxtaposition of this song's lyrics and vibe to Eric's shirt is fantastic.
The EPs have got some bangers on them for sure
I said this on your last video. That the end of missing limbs goes right into chokehold. 😅
I'm so happy you noticed that.
The swirl at the end is a call forward into chokehold I absolutely believe. I’m glad I wasn’t alone in thinking that. And I think it’s proof Vessel had been writing these as a block of songs over a long period of time. There was a cohesive plot through the songs and not just random brilliance. It makes everything just that much more rich in the final product. The trilogy was a labour of love in so many ways.
This is exactly what Vessel did. TMBTE was done only a couple months after Tomb released, and same for Tomb after Sundowning, and they've got so much more already done we've yet to hear.
I would be stoked for you guys to do a podcast on ST. Your reactions have been so enjoyable and your responses have been so thoughtful and insightful. Can’t wait to see the rest of the ST reactions and beyond.
You finally made it to the Crying Song! 😭🤣
I just want to say how much I've really enjoyed you guys going through the discography -- probably the closest thing I'm going to get to being able to relive hearing it all for the first time again. I know there's a few other bits and pieces left before you're through the entirety, but it's been a good ride. (--and might I suggest the Lafayette From the Room Below show if you really want to harness some Feelings? It's probably too long for a single reaction vid, but absolutely worth consuming if you liked the vibe of Missing Limbs.)
I think the "... to remember what you are to him" is talking about him prior to being vessel.
Their EPs are some of their best work, hands down. Have so much fun, I can’t wait!
The live version of this song will really hit hard, so much emotion
Tomb is such an experience. The trilogy is such a wonderful musical journey and the callbacks are just… wonderful. 🎉
I saw the thumbnail for the video and audible said, "...oh no..." cuz I knew what this might do. Gonna watch it now and reply with my thoughts.
So! I had some similar thoughts on the ending of Missing Limbs and Chokehold. There is a transition-- Blood Sport ends with piano, Atlantic begins with it. I did take that distorted bit and ran it through a spectrum analyzer to see if any hidden symbols came up, but there wasn't anything there. I also mixed it down to mono and flipped the phase to see if anything came out of that and that didn't do anything either. So I am curious as to what you come up with!
And yeah, this song is simple but still heavy. I absolutely love it.
"I live like I've got missing limbs for you" 💔💔
That's so interesting that you brought up the distortion at the end of "Missing Limbs" and beginning of "Chokehold" . Now that I listen to it, It sounds like the distortion in "Missing Limbs" is Descending and "Chokehold is Ascending. That's cool because Tomb is all about descending and Eden album about ascending. I never noticed...that's so clever. Vessel is amazing. Ya'll caught that too...I would never have figured that out so Thanks !!!
I'm incredulous how sleep token manages to bring something that is missing in music today. Heart and emotion without an industrialized image and sales behind it
Ugh I love this song. Thank you guys for all these! I can't wait for you to hear the EPs
Absolutely loved being a part of your guys st journey. Thanks for the content as always. Worship
I love this one. The acoustic adds to the emotion but then additional backing music folds in the further into the song you go. Then the ending is a great transition into the opening of Chokehold if listened back to back. Also gives the illusion of drowning I feel, similar to the end of High Water
Loved every moment with you guys.
NOOO, it can't be over. Do it again in order..🤨 Seriously, Thank you for this journey. You guys are amazing and while I don't always have the same tastes I have become a permanent fan of this channel. I am always open to new music. This song was deep and great as always but the one that hits hardest will always be "Fall for me".....at least for a while. I hope you guys reach your goals. All the best. 🤟
The first time I listened to missing limbs i practically ran to chokehold. I was absolutely sure one ran into the other. This song is so beautiful. I love how Sleep Token can and does all different facets of music.
If you put all the coordinates together it leads you to a place called Point Nemo. It's the furthest that you can get away from land or people. Also called the loneliest place on earth.
"Is it really you" is a must. Even if it's not a reaction vid. Just listen to it
Thank you guys so much for taking this journey. Please don't forget to listen to the EP's from 2016 and 2017 titled I and II. That's the beginning of the story and not to be missed!
this song was so hyped up to be one that would wreck me, then i finally heard it and was underwhelmed. its a great song and gets better every time i listen to it, but many of their other songs are way more of a gut punch
"to remember what you are to him" imo is coming from the changed perspective of Vessel's (Euclid's?) memory of loving Sleep. Missing limbs, something that was a part of you no longer attached. This band rattles my brain.
I started my ST journey around the same time as y'all so this hit close to reach the "end".
Will definitely listen to the podcast when it happens.
The noise at the end of Missing Limbs sounds like a distorted ambulance siren played in reverse.
"as you breathe, me out... i drink, you in....." from telomeres i think gets a callback in this song
we still have the 2 EP's AND 3 singles/covers to hear im so hype, im sad the albums are done but its a bittersweet sadness
I've said it before, but I swear that vessel has had all this ready to go and seemed together. A whole plot.
I love this song and relate to it very much. In my case, I like to think of "him" as myself in the past. Someone who I no longer am due to what I know now.
6 more songs!
I can't wait for you guys to go back to the old EPs. Especially the song Calcutta 🤯
5 of my top 10 favorite Sleep Token songs are not on any of their 3 albums: Jaws, Nazareth, Fields of Elation, When the Bough Breaks, and Calcutta. Their pure depth of musicality early on was something special, lots of space for the music itself to breathe independent of the vocals
He has about 20 other songs online in a project called Dusk that predate Token and Blacklit. All are good. All of them.
I watched every single one of these. Loved this series. Your commentary really helped me fall in love with this band
Been a hell of a ride, but worth every second. Not so patiently waiting for whatever Vessel and the gang put out next.
I just want to thank you guys for turning me onto artist I never heard of. Especially Ren, and now Sleep Token
I'm going to NEED a reaction to their live version of Halleluiah. It its one of the most perfect versions of that song I've ever heard
It is phenomenal
Thank you for doing this, guys. Sleep Token has changed my life and helped me heal from so much. I will continue to rewatch your reactions to them until new music comes out, then ill watch those over and over! They truly are so special.
WORSHIP.
So glad I waited for you guys to drop this before I went on my own. Rough one for me but a beautiful song. The patience that you guys have to withhold music from yourselves is a talent.
It still makes my blood run cold to remember what I did before the stories that you never told to me and it still makes my blood run thin to remember what you are to him hits harc
So very sad it's over, but happy that you guys can listen to all three albums together now! Everyone has already said it, but they really are meant to be listened to one after the other to see how perfectly they blend and tell the story. I agree, fall for me was the Achilles heel of tomb, and absolutely destroys me, but the more I listened to tomb the more I felt the pain in each song, and I just fell in love with it. I am glad it is your favorite Kyle. Thank you both so much for this journey, and I look forward to the reactions to the rest of their collection, as well as anything that is to come in the future. You guys are amazing at what you do 💜🫶
Nazareth is amazing ❤
Imo the part "to remember what you are to him" is like his ex broke up with him because of that new man that was mentioned on their song the apparition "Well I believe, somewhere in the past, something was between, you and I my dear"
Its bittersweet that you guys are done with the albums, but I loved every single reaction and look forward to the songs you haven't listened to yet. I'd love to see a podcast all about Sleep Token. Worship 💙
What an amazing journey this has been with you guys. I cannot wait for new music… I’m definitely here for a podcast on them! I’ll definitely tune in. Cheers, fellas.
I know i'm a little late, but I absolutely enjoyed going on this Sleep Token journey with you guys. I enjoyed seeing your reactions and emotions, and hearing your interpretations and thoughts on the narrative Vessel has created for Sleep over these three albums. I'm just as sad as you both were that this journey has come to an end (at least for the time being), but if you enjoyed this religious, three album journey, then boy do I have a suggestion for you:
There's a humble little band called Eidola who's music follows the story of a being who searches for the meaning of divinity and existence, dies and ascends to the realm of duality where they experience and try to understand the collective consciousness of humanity and different forms of faith across time, then split into two different beings, who are then reincarnated with the purpose of trying (and failing spectacularly) to provide salvation to humanity. And this entire journey happens over the span of SIX whole albums (the sixth and final one coming out next year).
I have no doubt you would absolutely love the narrative and journey Ediola's music takes you on! Please consider giving them a listen!
Please please do the EPs! That's 6 more songs! I've loved all this and the journey has been incredible!!
This is giving “victim of a rebound relationship” energy
Check it:
“ remember what THEY did before
The stories that you never told to me…. To remember what you are to him”
That unrequited love vibe is strong!
I found you guys from the summoning. It’s been a year now. Thank you for it all guys.
Thank you.
Thank you for doing the entire trilogy.
Thanks for your emotional response and connection to this magical ethereal music and band.
Just fucking appreciate you guys so much. ❤
Thank you guys! This journey has been amazing, I know you have more stuff to do, but being with you both through these albums has brought me joy again to experience it again with you, but also much more insight and perspective and more tears too but that’s okay with me
I ASK ONE MAJOR FAVOR!!
Please do a full reaction to the DRUMEO special with II where he does his first live interview as well as a ton of play through from all albums…. YOU WONT BE LET DOWN I PROMISE!!
#WORSHIP
What a fantastic ride! Thank You, Rykerroad 🥰
Congrats on finishing the albums, guys! Thanks for the fun journey, to be continued!
i feel like this song is a perfect bridge to Eden. eden is all about acceptance in my opinion, and missing limbs is like accepting that he will never be with that person he has yearned for for so long, and he’s saying he doesn’t want to do it anymore and he’s accepting that he will not stay in this situation he’s been in.
Oh i would absolutely love a sleep token podcast!!! 👏
It took me a while to really gravitate to this song. Like all ST it eventual stuck. Thanks for the journey lads
I am sorry you had to discover their catalog at such a slow pace lol, but glad to watch you get blown away again and again.
Thank you for all your Sleep Token album reactions. Seeing you get emotional and to hear your musings and takes on the lyrics has been very interesting.
I do wonder which song surprised you the most out of all the album songs.
The ambiguity of the lyrics make this conclusion to me real clear: No question Vessel's an amazing poet, however, this could be interpreted in two different ways.
1. He's a mastermind attempting to start a cult from music.
2. He's the biggest SIMP on Earth capable of manufacturing a whole band's career around a girl.
Either way, we're all blessed to be living in a time where to experience this first hand.
I mean Taylor swift made a cult following over boys lol
@@An_Enraged_Pig This!!! My daughter is a huge swiftie. My husband told her that she needed multiple relationships to make her cult following. Vessel only needed one. 🤣
@@lfreeman0828 except Taylor is a lil b. and her relationships are normal, she just likes to change boys like a glove. Vessel's on the other hand is the most toxic, destructive, addicting in the worst way.
@@Snufkin. You almost had me but comment sounds damn too Christian to be ignored lol
What? The big bootie insect goddess isn't real?? Oh noes!!
But instead of Simp I'm going to say he writes from a classical viewpoint. I don't know if they still teach dead white western poetry or literature but this is what Vessel's lyrics remind me of.
I posit that human nature doesn't change and that cultures can experience waves of something like insanity. Human nature will experience these waves but it will always recenter.
I'm trying not to despise the 'Goddess' talk. I think it makes Vessel's immense talent a bit cartoonish
I’m so excited for the EPs but I’m more excited for “is it really you?”. Feel free to do the original version by loathe first! It’s a great song all around 😊 also, a ST podcast would be fantastic! 🤩 also, congrats on 200k!
The strange noise in the end...I have this connected to what you can hear before you pass out.
I do crazy meditations sometimes where I knock myself unconscious by accident every now and then and it's exactly what I can hear when that happens.
It's a weird ending for an album.
But it stands out so I really like it.
Thread The Needle is coming up and I am so excited!!!
In Atlantic he says "marry in the morning, and your bitter father..." I think he attempted to end his life because she was marrying someone else the next day.... "what you are to him" could be referring to the fact shes someone elses wife. Sounds like they met again later on, when the dust settled and talked. Also he touched on his own guilt for the situation being beyond repair, because his blood ran cold when he remembered what he did. Guilt is definitely something you can drown in. It's one thing to have your heart broken, but to be made to feel its because you're not good enough no matter what you do....Will send you over the edge, and I speak from experience ❤
Hope ya'll try to find one of the live recordings of their Hallelujah cover in the stripped back sets.
oh my goodness , almost there !
❤
