This has one of the most difficult lines I resonate with "and I know you still bear the weight of your own existence, but you'll never bear the weight of two". It just screams that I refuse to be a burden.

That's an interesting interpretation I'd never considered. I've always heard it as the loss of a pregnancy, or a child.
@@Nonya12608 I feel it this way because of "when the mouth of infinity buries its teeth in me, I'll smile through the agony for you" that to me means the heaviness of existing, of being alive, and for that to follow makes me feel as though I'll refuse to dump all of that on you, all of my trauma and my pain, because you've got your own. The entire song feels like it's about his inability to keep himself separate from the anguish and likely the desire to unalive. And that he loves her and finds that as his beacon of hope and his purpose and that she's the only thing he's holding onto as he's drowning in it and it keeps him alive, but she's entirely unaware, because he refuses to tell her anything.

THE most underrated Sleep Token song, and in my personal opinion, the greatest breakdown of all time
That final part is basically a long II flex and I'm all here for it
basically letting him get all the insane drumming out of the way since the next song is pure instrumental
I've said this plenty of times, but the perfect compliment to Vessels voice is II's insane drumming. Every single time I show someone Sleep Token, they talk about how the drumming brings the song to a completely different level. WORSHIP!

Anyone else think there may be a correlation between “flood me like Atlantic” in Atlantic, and “wash the salt from my hands” from Rain being connected to “wash me clean again before I pull myself beneath the waves”?
Yeah I think it ties together and more. I feel like several of the songs are sort of the events leading up to Atlantic both before and describing it after the fact.
With ST everything is connected to everything else.

i always thought he said "wash all the salt from my earth". the romans used to "salt the earth" to kill their enemies future prospects of growing food to return to prosperity. i took it as washing the salt from his earth could help him start anew
For me, "High Water" is more of the finale of the album, with "Missing Limbs" more of a post-script addition, like an after-credits scene in a Marvel movie. And "Telomeres" is a great lead-in to "High Water", an unexpected shift equating DNA cell degradation with an all-encompassing toxic relationship that eventually breaks down and destroys those involved. It also includes a rare guitar solo and awesome drum fills!
By the time "High Water" ends, my interpretation is that Vessel's meaning of the title of the album 'This Place Will Become Your Tomb' is that "This Place" is himself, his body, his human shell, his... vessel.

The final handful of Tomb songs are probably my most often skipped ST songs. Glad to have this new appreciation for them.
This is THE most slept on sleep token song. You can feel the pain behind his words and you can feel like you’re drowning.

Sleep Token aren’t even a guitar-orientated band, yet this is one of the best guitar riffs of all time. Perfectly encapsulates what it must be like to drown. Chills every time!

For Missing Limbs, if you go to the official video from Sleep Token, you'll notice the depth markers are listed (as he sinks on each track). 10,924m down is one of the deepest points in our ocean at the bottom of the Mariana Trench; the deepest Man has been able to go.

My mummy vision picked up on the 3 big scars on his left forearm, just below his inner elbow. Whatever caused them was painful both mentally and physically! I think that's where the lyrics "bandage up the trenches" and "talk me through the damage" you have vital tendons and a big artery where those scars are, and it takes a LOT to repair. I'm just glad he failed, because the world is a lot richer with him in it! ❤

Everything is connected with these guys. Everything.
One of the more meta connections which I made only more recently was the "mouth of infinity" reference alongside the album cover of TMBTE being the moon with teeth. The moon controls the tides, and therefore creates the "High Water". If you stack all 3 album covers on top of each other, another visual story is told of someone rising up from the depths toward the moon.
I have my own theory about what the "night" references are in their story, but it relates to a topic that we shouldn't discuss openly really (iykyk kinda thing). Just take "trees", "canopies", "night skies" and the autumn leaves from Euclid (leaves falling, revealing the sky/stars behind them) and you'll make some connections I'm sure.

Once y'all are done with Missing Limbs, are you gonna discuss the journey on the podcast? Would love to hear your interpretation of the story. There's definitely a real story of Vessel underneath the lore and through the lyrics - a lot of us theorize there was a really nasty accident that plunged them into the Atlantic and that they may have lost a baby during it - in essence, the trilogy being his grieving process of the events.
Another piece I interpret differently are the scars on his arms - I personally don't think he means self-harm. If we're going with the theme of the accident, and you actually look at the outside of Vessel's left arm, you can see two pretty nasty scars a couple inches apart that look like textbook scars from a compound fracture. Just my interpretation :)
Totally agree that it's a real thing that Vessel has been through as I have so heavily related to so many of his lyrics. You can't possibly imagine that level of pain and lyrically elucidate the way he does unless you've been through it

The end of missing limbs sounds a bit jarring but pay attention to the sounds you hear. Some of us correlate it with the beginning of Chokehold.
Can’t wait for the last one. It’s a whole different vibe. It’s not dark or broody feeling like high water it’s just slow melodic soul crushing sadness.
There are very few things in life I wish I could experience for the first time again and ST is definitely one of them.

I could go on and on about why this is my favorite song. The lyrics, the haunting melody, the callbacks and the lines that get called back to, the Jaws melody, the climbing then sinking of the melody and vessels voice in the chorus, the outro that hits like a truck in various ways, in which i could describe even more but ive said enough. Theres more too. But, to do a TLDR. This song is one of the best songs ive ever heard, and the song i connect to the most. I mean every song by Sleep Token is perfect, this song is the perfect above perfection in my opinion. I know a lot of people agree with me too, and even that gives me the feels, knowing now how much this song touches other people, more than i thought before. Maybe because the Missing Limb people are very vocal haha.

The first thing I noticed when listening to it for the first time was "oh, this feeling is familiar." Then i realized it feels like when everything is starting to pile up and you go spiraling in your own thoughts and emotions. Key things for me in this song:
When someone says "don't hold your breath" waiting for something to come, but Vessel says "I can hold my breath forever". He knows they cannot be together, but he will still wait for her.

THAT GUITAR TONE
"You still bear the weight of your own existence, and you'll never bear the weight of two" Vessel wanted a family, but she would never have a kid with him?
Second favorite song overall but what I pull from the lyrics hits me harder than any song in the catalogue.
I think the breakdown is the true authentic moment you realize that every word you said up until that point is true. You really won’t ever be together. And the breakdown is so crushing because the feeling is crushing. And the breakdown is so instant and abrupt because the second you realize it’s over, every relevant feeling you’ve denied is no longer inaccurate.
Something that I don't hear people talk about enough is Vessels ability to write melodies - not only that but ones that feel very appropriate to the names of the song. The increase in the notes he sings at the chorus in this one is like water rising; the guitar in Chokehold's chorus almost instills a sense of panic/alarm in how it sounds with the words separated like a gasp of air between the lyrics as if he was in an actual chokehold. There's so many examples of this throughout their discography

I think this song is referencing him using substances “choke myself on sacred vapor” and sitting with his trauma “basking in the solace of regret” and wanting someone/ something to pull him out “before I pull myself beneath the waves” (alcohol) and dealing with being without the other because of their shared traumatic past “infinity buries its teeth in me” and “ you bear the weight of your own existence” like, they went through something together (many think the loss of a child) that broke them irrevocably and he acknowledges that he can’t fix it or be with them but is falling apart and is crying out

Missing Limbs is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. It follows High Water so well. I have had to skip Missing Limbs on several occasions when I’m not in a good head space. It’s devastating.
