Sorry, but nobody (publicly) knows who Nyango Star really is, it's disrespectful to ask mascots 'who is in the suit' in Japan.
Everyone online saying "it's X or Y" is just having a laugh. So really it just is: Nyango Star and 'it' I guess.
Nyango also does drum covers like: Babymetal Akatsuki and X-Japan KURENAI, live or has those on it's own channel.
Maybe those aren't songs a lot of westerners might know, but they aren't easy to play.
Something which I think a lot of people did not notice is that Nyango travels a lot to play all over Japan and most of the time plays on different kits they put out for Nyango to play on. So it's not only playing in the suit, but also different drums sets.

@@RaynaVandel Some other random facts that come to mind: Nyango played with "Fred" the bassist and (co-)song writer of Dragonforce. And Nyango played the X-Japan song in front of Yoshiki the drummer, pianist and songwriter from X-Japan (only available on low quality video). And also played with Marty Friedman (former lead guitarist from Megadeth, now living in Japan), but that wasn't recorded (wasn't allowed).
You know he has his own band as well.. "Charamel" And they look equally crazy.. 😅👌🏼🇯🇵

That little girl is Yoyoka Soma. There is no way to convey how good she is or how freaking addicting her videos are. She is 9 now and the change from 8 yo is mind boggling. Her latest is a cover of The Police - murder by numbers. I have watched many vids of Copeland playing it, there is no quality difference- not hyperbole. She could replace nearly any drummer in any band and be spot on. It really is bonkers. Search Yoyoka and; Peter Gabriel, police, onyx, Bruno mars, smokey, Led Zeppelin. Like someone else commented, you could do a whole show on her. Start with the police, then you will know.

I speculated who Nyango is for awhile. I thought it was Hideki Aoyama. I found Babymetal through Nyango(and I found Nyango through your first video. The internet has a weird way of giving people treats.), and they seem to have similar playing styles. Hideki is the son of a very well known drummer Jun Aoyama.
I figured Hideki has probably been drumming since he was 3 and seemed like a good candidate to be a world class drummer in a cat-apple suit.
I don't know how to explain it. I'm not a musician, but Hideki and Nyango both, in my ears, have a kind of..round/fluid playing style? It's what I don't like when people are really fast on guitar.

I know this vid is old, but thinking about Nyango and anonymity, the whole point of these mascots seems to be to make the characters real. Nyango's actions in the real world make him real, because there's no real human we can attribute them to. Like the Undertaker is more real, the less you know about Mark Callaway. The actor's real identity would rob Nyango of it's existence in the real world. That's my two cents about it.
