@@faizalherdin7794 The 'nyan' part is from the onomatopoeia for a Japanese meow which is 'nyan'. And the 'go' part is from 'ringo' which means apple.
@@faizalherdin7794 "Nyan" is the way they say the cat noise "meow" in Japanese. Starr is from Ringo Starr. So Nyan-go Starr is kind of a Japanese play on words. It's basically mascot for Japanese apple farms (orchards).

The internet is in love with the idea that the guy in this suit is a pro but has fallen on hard times and been reduced to performing for kids in an animal costume. Little does the internet know that being a beast at drums while wearing a costume is this guy's entire shtick! He's Nyango Star, and he's not overqualified, he's doing exactly what you expect him to do if you hired him to perform at an event! ;)
Now everybody knows,so that the title could be "When you are perfectly qualified for the job" ! :) But hey,maybe Nyango likes to be anonymous :)
That actually makes a ton of sense once you think about it because he would have to have practiced pretty extensively in the suit to pull that off.

Love Nyango Star, an apple with the spirit of a dead cat. Because of course that makes sense 🙂 Like many (official or unofficial) mascots, he's promoting his prefecture, which grow a lot of apples. The Japanese country side has a lot of elderly people and the younger generation moves to the cities, so their is a real issue. Nyango also plays the most difficult drum songs by Babymetal and X-Japan, etc. all without blinking 🙂
The name is an amalgamation of Nyan which is cat, a reference to the famous drummer Ringo Star, and ringo means apple in Japanese.

@@JohnG_YT Nyango Star is also in a band called Charametal aka Character Metal. They have one original song and the lyrics seem to be in Engrish (yes, Japanese 'English'). Better than average Engrish but also not English. Just check out the video: Funassyi PearFestival2018 CHARAMEL Concert-CHARAMEL feat. Kumamon-2018.07.16. Other suggestions: check out Nyango Star playing Babymetal Akatsuki on his official channel or Nyango Star playing in front of Yoshiki playing X-Japan's song.

'Nyan' is not a cat but how japanese pronounce the sound a cat does, similar to 'meow' in american. The japanese term of cat is neko.

Reminds me of choir we had a jazz drummer, but he was out sick, so a student who was a metal drummer filled in and we all got laryngitis trying to sing over his drumming during rehearsal & we had to stop because he was drumming in the classroom too loud. 😂

That reminds me of one of the sillier things to happen at a rehearsal ... We weren't in our usual spot, and some people were doing some filming three floors down. Wouldn't you know it, they ended up asking us to keep it down, and we practiced a scene where we're practically shouting/singing at somebody as more a whisper but try to keep the intensity. In the end, it made for a good exercise.
Those kinda moments in music where people of different styles collide are awesome

Because japanese metal scene has some of the best drummers. You should watch Reizi (Dexcore) and Kanta (Deviloof) playing Dexcore's Dragout together. And then them doing same with Deviloof's Dusky Vision.

There are some really great female Japanese drummers. Senri Kawaguchi is one of the best drummers on the planet, and Akane from Band Maid is awesome.
I'd love to see a super dark and heavy metal band that all played dressed in cutesy kids show costumes exactly like this lol I think it'd work!

That mascot is Nyango Star. He's a mascot helping a region in Japan that grows apple. The region eventually became a famous booming business because of him. He's like the ambassador of every apple farm in Japan now. Respect. What a legend.

It's a common rumor but there isn't actually any proof of it. There's a video of Nyango playing Shimi with the band and you can hear Nao singing her part behind the camera.
Unless of course she did this just to throw us off the trail, lol

The person in the costume doesn't want to be known. It is a cultural thing, they create the character to be its own entity and don't want their actual identity revealed.

The mascot is actually in a band, full mascot band.
The bass player is a Kappa (Japanese river monster), a purple cat bat thing and a caramel

I'm pretty sure this is the drummer to the Japanese metal band called Maximum the Hormone. She is an absolute beast. The band has some famous tracks. They even did some music for the anime Death Note.

of all the reaction videos I've seen, yours is absolutely one of the best examples of fair use. This genuinely bothers me that so many creators give such low tier effort to their posts, but you've done your job on this one

Nao is a beast of a drummer and if you've watched anime like Death Note, you've definitely heard her band's songs!

The restraint at the beginning. Being in a restrictive, full costume that long is hard enough, playing drums like that isn't easy either. To do both at the same time is amazing.
Think of it like Goku's clothes, it's there to keep her power in check.
I got hammered one night at a visit with old family in MS. I was drummer at time for a few FL metal , jazz fusion bands. I had just moved back home to Biloxi ...met my family aunt's and uncles at a dive bar where a country band was playing. They asked if anyone wanted to sit in. They said ...this one is a bit funky. Watch for the breaks. It was one of those poppy older disco ish country tunes I cannot remember the name but...Talk about love , or something. Reminded me of shake your booty. . Hahaha. So I started as one may expect. 16th hats open on accents beating each accent open with bass kicks then started adding drags on the hats closed here and there. Then ending each phrase with a rough or double kick to snare and splash. Anyway eventually hit the ride and hat work together ...had a blast. People were freaking out ...hahah. The dude that owned the kit original member came to get his sticks...he was pissed off. The kit , the heads were dented and the chain driven old hat stand was stripped. I offered him money but he said no. Never ever again will I touch his kit. So then oddly enough. The bassist and guitarist came and had a beer with me and we set up a little jam session months later as it turned out they loved fusion. So we had a little few months we'd get together and jam. You know the type. Anything goes just alot of fun. Hahahahah that's what this reminds me of. I believe all of us drummers have been in a situation where we just sat in and went nuts. Hahahah

I love the country living. I am not big into country music but my family is. I love all music but country LIVing is the best. Hahah. So you ever heard of Holly house ? You remember the Avon building by Biloxi Mall Edgewater? That was my uncle's recording studio. Clyde Holly. He sadly passed in 07. Used to hang out with Brad and him during the pre 3 doors down band days. Lotta fun.

You really don't know about this band?.. They're known as Mascot metal in Japan, their name is Charamel.. Their live shows are wild. They always start with childrens songs then progress into metal, their guitarist is absolutely great. And yes, they all appear on stage dressed like this.

The character that you see here is Nyango Starr. He is a mascot for a small town in Japan. Unfortunately, I forget the drummers name. I remember reading somewhere that they actually played drums for Baby Metal.

That’s why I said rumor. There’s another rumor that the apple cat is the drummer from Japanese heavy metal band Maximum the Hormone, Nao Kawakita. I don’t know who’s behind the mask. I only know they’re awesome. Also the apple cat is the mascot for the city of Kuroishi, Aomori in northern Honshu, the Japanese main island. Nyango is a combination of the Japanese the words Nyan (like meow) and “go” is the last syllable in ringo, Japanese for apple. The cats name is, basically, Ringo Star like the Beatles drummer. 😆 I have been in Japan for way too long. 😆

No joke this vid makes me want to learn how to play drums. If this guy, in a full mascot costume, can do this, what’s stopping me, someone with a little musical talent (I play piano and viola :)) from playing drums without a mascot costume on?
Go for it! I started when i was 18 (if i don't count the insufferable times when i used to drum on EVERYTHING,lol!) Just an advice to start with : Metronome is not your enemy. (It was an enemy for me and a game changer later on!)

That figure thst played the drums is nyango star. this figure is known for its... well metal drumming. Many japanese people love nyango star. Nyango stsr is quite literally a japanese star.
