I really, really like the spell animation for Ondusi's Key. It makes so much sense as a gesture - I can, indeed, see in my head a mage opening a lock with this particular flicking of his wrist. Great work on this small detail.
4:02 to 4:15 is one of things I loved most about Morrowind compared to the newer games. When characters gave you directions it wasn't just flavor, you actually had to pay attention if you wanted an easy time finding somewhere for the first time. Also, reading books was actually useful for learning about otherwise difficult to find caves/hideouts/shrines. Devs and other contributors, you guys are doing an awesome job!
I like it too, but sometimes they overdo it with "follow the northern river south of the eastern gate until you see the hill west of the southern edge of forest"

And its also likely that before that some third party just makes a mod for it
It still looks like that to me. Replaying morrowind now. I don't like the skyrim ui at all, much ahppier with the default morrowind one.. so not sure if I will play skywind.. but glad my friends who never gotto enjoy morrowind when it was new will getto play through it with this mod.

@@paulkendrick4153 someone clearly doesn't know the impact it hat on release. As great as Skyrim is, calling skyrim better besides it being an absolutely senseless comparison is just fanboying on another level. Sure, in a technical viewpoint, it's better. But it would be a bad joke if it wasn't... Storytelling wise, I'd say Morrowind is far superior in that regard. Skyrim's story and other bigger quests are mediocre at best. Not much that's worth mentioning. markers lead you to everything, no finding out anything by yourself, riddles in dungeons are 9/10 times solved at first sight, the 3 voice actors that they use for every second NPC are... well... sometimes okay, sometimes terrible... And don't get me started with bugs... Let's be honest, without mods, Skyrim would be just another game out there that's good but nothing special. Not the singleplayer game that thousands still play to this day. You can thank the massive modding community for keeping Skyrim alive. Sure, Morrowind also has mods but the console versions never had mod support and Morrowind's modding community was way smaller than Skyrim's and even modders make content that's 1000 times better than anything made by bethesda. Just look at mods like Beyond Skyrim Bruma or the prime example Enderal. A whole new game that wipes the floor with skyrim in pretty much every way.
As someone who just started studying UX, I want to commend the team on their icons. It's real easy to tell what the effect of something is just by the icons in HUD.

This video captures the unique off-kilter atmosphere of Vvardenfell. The variety on display, from the landscaping, spells, textures and 3D objects, are a fine showcase of the various people working diligently on the project.
Just want to personally thank every single one of you who have taken the time to help, design or write any part of this project and any mod project or part of any Elder Scrolls games. You are all appreciated
It’s apparent that y’all put a lot of care and attention to detail into this mod. It looks wonderful, not just from a visual standpoint, but the spells, the armor and weapon descriptions, the skills… I didn’t play Morrowind so I’m not sure if all of that was already apart of the original game, but I love that it’s in the modded version. I can’t wait to play this! Oh! And the voice acting is phenomenal! AND the design team did a fantastic job! Everyone involved in this has done amazing!
Man the art direction, lighting and voice over is looking soo good. It looks just as i remembered morrowind in my head, mysterious, an alien place. Now i am hyped for skywind than any other game coming in future.
The Skywind team is doing amazing work! Everything from the UI, VO, models and animations look extremely polished and it is obvious everyone is putting a lot of time and dedication into this project. I cannot wait to play it 😍
Oh man this looks so good. Hits me with the nostalgia while simultaneously seeming fresh. I love the new designs of weapon and armor, the voice acting seems really good and most importantly, the return of all those different spells
Hopefully this mod will have the gear having their spells and buffs to cast. Was disappointed in Oblivion and Skyrim where all armor just had passive buffs.
Im beyond excited for this congrats to everyone who's been working on this project! No matter how small the role you think you are, you are all amazing keep at it! Skywind will be my first visit to Morrowind I cant wait to see what you have accomplished!
I think the quality and consistency of the art direction is what impresses me most about Skywind. Lots of times total conversion mods will be either low quality or inconsistent in that department since you have a lot of cooks in the kitchen with their own ideas for how the game should look, but Skywind seems to have figured out how to get it done cohesively.
I absolutely love how the dungeon tells a story as you play it! The original Morrowind had stories scattered all over the place, but most of the time you had to read them off of books or paper scraps, or NPCs had to tell them. This method really brings the world to life! If this is the level of polish a minor quest has, you're likely creating my favorite adventure game of all time!
Yeah exactly. If ALL side quests get this level of polish, this could easily being the best open world RPG ever made And at this point, I really think that this quality will be present in every quest and location this team touches
I just hope they add the hit/miss stuff back in and remove the magicka regen to make you much less OP than Skyrim holding your hand. For me that stuff made you think more about what moves to make in certain scenarios
@@HereticHero The roll-to-hit mechanic isn't coming back, that's definitely the case. The magicka regen I don't think we've made a final decision on. At the moment we have a reduced magicka regen in place as a compromise while we figure out what works best for Skywind.
@UCM I'm sure that whatever you guys decide on will ultimately be fine. If Skyrim mods work in Skywind like they do in Enderal for instance, people will be able to eliminate/add automatic magicka regen themselves, right?

This looks fantastic. You know my father really loved Morrowind back in the day but it gave him terrible vertigo. He would play for an hour or so and then lay on the couch sick as a dog until he felt good enough to play again. He beat the whole game that way. He has since grown very fond of Skyrim and it doesn't give him vertigo, now that this is going to be coming he will be able to enjoy the game without the nausea. I think he will be over the moon. In all honesty: Thank You All from the bottom of my heart!!!!
I love Molag Mar! I was partial to the isolated Vivec city canton, but you carried over that fortified vibe very well. As in the original, it feels like the whole town is in a tense, defensive posture against the molag amur.
I remember hearing about this mod years ago! It is shockingly satisfying to see it not only remain to be worked on, but clearly making a LOT of phenomenal progress
I know it's been a long road, and there is still quite a ways to go, but what you, the Skywind team, has managed to pull off is simply breathtaking. You didn't have to recreate so much of what was already in Skyrim to do this project, but it does appear to be paying off in getting much closer to Morrowind than you'd be able to do otherwise. Lovely work all around.
@@Demiurge13 My problem is that this team is a bunch of smug elitists that keep this in perpetually closed alpha status. I didn't lie, nor did I exaggerate how long they've been at this. I can agree that the terrain and sky don't quite match, but the NPCs are obviously better than anything Bethesda has ever done, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
I really, really like the spell animation for Ondusi's Key. It makes so much sense as a gesture - I can, indeed, see in my head a mage opening a lock with this particular flicking of his wrist. Great work on this small detail.
Was going to say the same, casting open lock spells is already more fun than it has any right to be and this is just *chef 's kiss*.

There ARE a few times where they give you the wrong directions though.
I like it too, but sometimes they overdo it with "follow the northern river south of the eastern gate until you see the hill west of the southern edge of forest"
@@Rokabur Exactly,I wanted to point it out. I remember how I looked over an hour for some place and when I finally searched it on the internet, it was totally in the opposite way than an NPC told me.
@@Rokabur isnt it only one time you actually get wrong directions. like the npc says east buts its acually west or vice versa.
@@Rokabur I'm sure there's probably one quest that's like that but every time I hear this complaint, it's extremely hard for me to not think "maybe the player just read the directions wrong." I've done it once or twice.
You cannot FATHOM how happy I am to see something like this. I never thought I'd live to see the modding community essentially make what is Morrowind +1 from the ground up. And to think you've done so much to really preserve what made the original interesting! I was worried that after getting the quest we'd just get a waymarker telling us exactly where to go, but you have to listen to directions and investigate and LISTEN AND THINK. I look forward to power leveling my magic, crafting spells an being able to fly around while throwing nukes like the GOD OF MAGICAL DEATH Morrowind allowed you to be.

Skyrim is better, Morrowind is overrated af

This looks amazing, from the loading screens to the details of the environments. It is evident that a lot of love and passion went into making this.
Even the little loading wheel lmao I used to be skeptical of this teams focus on detail but I was so so wrong! It just works
If ALL side quests get this level of polish, this could easily being the best open world RPG ever made
And at this point, I really think that this quality will be present in every quest and location this team touches
