I really like that you made this video, even if it isn't the most entertaining because of the subject matter. Gamemax is a chinese brand known for doing exactly this. When I built my computer back after Covid started in 2020 I wanted to get the InWin 805 Infinity. But there was two reasons I didn't like it. It's a Mid tower and I wanted a mATX case, just because computers are getting smaller, and I wanted a smaller computer. I also liked the idea of a case with the hinge on the glass side panel so I can open it and work on it and close it easily. So with those in mind, Amazon recommended my GameMax's Mini Abyss. I didn't know it was a ripoff at the time, and it's build pretty well compaired to some of the other cases I'd gotten in this price range. On their website there is a few lies and false marketing. I don't know if this stuff was just lost in translation, or if it's because something changed. But regardless, the mirror effect they have in the front uses a micro JST connect, 3 pin. So basically it's just as bad or worse than the GPU fan connectors that like to have the wires broke because people don't push them out correctly. But the front panel one in wedged in a spot you can only ever pull on the wire to remove it. Thank you if you've read through this far. And thank you GN for making this video and exposing Gamemax. Maybe it will change our market here in the west a little. But with how china dominant it has become, I am doubtful. I do with you would review more DIYPC cases. I highly suggest the DIYPC Q3 ARGB. It's extremely cheap and isn't just an O11 Dynamic ripoff. Funny enough they have seemingly achieved the rare feat of infringing every single aspect of intellectual property laws. Impressive!
@@RipliWitani Oh I just googled those. I have a cooler master case similar in design to those that showed in image search, minus any glass panelling lol.
Hey man you gotta pair the balls of steel with the Diamond COC. Gotta give it to ‘em. It’s as gammer as it gets. Also fun fact, they also sell a “Turbo COC.”
As somone from a (China adjacent) country, I'll throw my two cents into the mix for some consideration. Proper channel imports aren't really a thing here. Sure you'll find a limited selection of hardware funneled through legit "big" name brands that operate locally, but the selection is quite meek to say the least. Stuff like Hyte, Fractal, etc. isn't something you'll find all to easily down here..and though a lot of stuff does end up on the shelves via questionable import practices, non-mainstream items don't make the cut cus the buyers would be few and far in-between. This is where these cases come into play. A larger chunk of potential buyers are actually just looking for the that-trendy-aesthetic they see making the rounds on tech channels, and that alone is often, surprisingly good enough. Needless to say, being China-adjascent means that items from there are presumably subject to more favorable import regulations, not to mention the shipping costs are drastically lesser than the haul to markets elsewhere. Just like that these items land down here, subsidized to an extent..with favorable odds of being sold once you combine it with the dearth of other more viable purchase options for the avg buyer. Yes i know this is a wall of text, I'm sorry. I'll leave you with an example as the outro; The world : has that Jonsbo lcd screen mAtx. We : have the spitting image copycat alternative that goes by the name BOOST T-REX.
Yeah, we in the West sometimes have a hard time understanding who these clones are even for. They are made to serve markets that the name brands have no presence in, Pakistan being a very obvious example. They love both PC and console gaming in Pakistan, but nobody is going to be repping name brand stuff, unless they buy stuff in Saudi Arabia when they go on Hajj.
@@matrix3509 ....or any travel destination really. I'd say Dubai would be a better example here. But sadly, its still a bit of a toss-up in quite a few regions in the world still - as in, you're never sure whether you will or won't be subject to customs intervention for hauling over a single; clearly intended for personal use item. At times, with some stories I've heard from peers elsewhere, you might not even get to contest incurring duties or taxes, and instead face having the items (I mean consumer electronics here) be outrightly "seized" - Yikes. Sigh. But like the other commenter said, there's always hope yet. Perhaps someday it won't be this convoluted anywhere. Looking forward to that hypothetical since always, and shall be continuing to do so.
Reminds me of the episode of Reno 911, when the author of a novel is pleading with the Fire and Sheriff's dept. to save his in-progress work that was clearly plagiarized and they wouldn't do it. In fact, after the Sheriffs asked him to give them a quick synopsis of the story and had concluded that it was too similar to the film, "Frequency," the Fire dept. shows up and he turns to them, pleading. The Sheriffs interject and says, "...just listen his plot," to which the Fire dept. Concludes, "Oh, it's like the film, Frequency!" And ultimately also decide against rescuing his work lol.
When I saw the bit about the extra-cost vertical GPU mounts NOT ACTUALLY BEING COMPATIBLE, I wanted to clap my hands politely. Their commitment to.. "lackadaisaudacity" (I just made up that word - someone stop me if I try doing that again) was truly, truly, impressive.
This has to be one of the funniest/ not funniest things you guys have posted. How companies think no one will notice is beyond me 😂 its like someone breaking into your house, opening the fridge door and eating your food noisely while you sleep
I never fully realized just how important crisp and sharp sheet metal bends were to making a case look premium, but wow GameMAX really shows how important they are. The Hype looks a little... swollen? Just a little "squishy" compared to the Hyte.
I have this case... It is marketed as "Dragos North" in Turkey. I got it for 100$ and it came with a single exhaust fan. After adding 5 arttic p12s and one id cooling fan it ended up costing around 140$. I must say for that price I ended up with a case that looks very good and is quiet too. With that many fans I don't need to run them at high rpms and my pc never even gets close to thermal throttling, stress testing included. Granted I am not running the most power hungry components but with a 6800xt and an overclocked 5700x it's not a low end pc by no means. Full size pci-e slots are actually very good because I can mount the gpu horizontally and feed it fresh air with 3 bottom intake fans. Now, I am not very experienced with this stuff so I might be missing something but, I don't at all understand why you were so negative about the ventilation of this case. What's wrong with magnetically attached mesh dust filters? I thought they were just the ideal type and, the one that is "impossible to fit properly" fits just fine if you move it a bit. Ventilation on the side panel also seems very good, just a no nonsense single layer of metal mesh. Everything else you complained about the case also seems just fine to me. It has captive screws where it needs them the most, has a lot of room to stuff the cables in where they are not visible therefore it is much easier to build in compare to all the other cases I've worked with, the standoffs for the glass panels are not the most elegant but they, again, are just fine. The front io isn't the best but one less usb port has never killed anyone in the last 100 years. The warp in the top cover is dissappointing but unnoticable when installed. The gap between glass panels could easily be smaller but still looks intentional the way it is and doesn't look bad. The same goes for the "misaligned metal". In fact, where even are they? Yes the top and bottom covers are smaller than the footprint of the case but it looks almost entirely intentional and is done in a uniform way. Can you really call that misaligned or is it just a design element that you chose to dislike? I think you ended up feeling very negatively about the case because of the high price and shady marketing. In the end I don't at all agree that this would be a bad case for 80$-100$. Add 35 dollars to that price for a 5 set of arttic p12 fans and you got yourself a very uniquely beautiful looking case for way under the price of hyte y60, all the while performing well enough for most people. Isn't that what you have praised about hyte y60? I just don't understand how this case can be so bad for 80-100 dollars while y60 is the best case of the year for 200$. Again, my case+fans cost me 140 dollars and it probably performs better than most aircooled y60 setups while having an extremely similar look. A saving of 60 dollars is very significant. In fact, 70 dollars was the price difference between a 5600 and 5700x when I got my cpu.
"You're being very negative about the case because shady marketing and the price..." Yes... Exactly. Those and the lack of attention to detail ARE why it deserves the roasting. What's unclear here?
@@doublevendetta I care less about the company getting the roasting it deserves and more about getting accurate information related to the product. @@emilyshabangI was avoiding the news, as usual on the weekends. I didn't realize those afflicted with the TDS frequent the PC gaming channels as well. Don't worry... Once news media no longer has a reason to cover Trump in their daily reporting, those that suffer from the TDS will feel an overwhelming emptiness in their hearts and minds. My hunch is that it will be described similarly to Stockholm syndrome and battered wife syndrome and be treated with a similar treatment plan.
Well this explains my GAMEMAX Master M905. Newegg listing was false. 1: claimed glass side panel, I got plastic 2: misaligned holes for my 280mm radiator. Such as my extreme doubt for 360mm radiator support, which the Newegg listing claimed.

So the one thing I could say for the removeable base is could you use that for running cables or tubes(for water cooling not sure i would want to though in that case), though the danger of breaking/cutting a cooling line could be an issue the water/cooling would leak into the false bottom area compared to the interior case area. Like I could see even having a false top that you could run cables thru an drop down to where they need to be. This could help to keep the case interior less cluttered an help airflow maybe keeping the cabling/tubing to a minimum in the visible interior. Not saying the case is good, but looking at it maybe there is some useful ideas even if accidental in there that could be used.
Everytime I see charts like this I smile. Building in the fractal torrent was the most fun I ever had building a PC. Maybe I will get one for myself aswell. One day.
I can't remember ever seeing you have SO much fun in a product "review." I love your presentation. I'm only 10 minutes into the video at this point, and I sure am hoping that there will be a side or front impact test coming. This product may have been released as a form of corporate self immolation. GREAT REVIEW.
Yes. Australia as well where nominal PSU's are 850 Watt per sticker on them but in reality they deliver only 550 Watts. Over here surrounding Brazil they discontinued the Gamemax brand due to quality issues.
Yeah they make a bunch of junk. And yeah their PSU's are awful (speaking from experience, thankfully was able to replace it quickly). They have a high rating on Amazon though (at least Amazon US). Because they include a card with the PSU saying to e-mail them your thoughts for a free RGB mousepad. When you e-mail them you get the real deal. They flat out say they will send the mousepad after you post a 5 star review with at least one picture and send them a screenshot of the review posted to amazon.
I just have to say whatever shutter speed you're using to video those fans on the Arctic cooler especially and even the other fans during the video is basically perfecto. It makes those fans look incredibly smooth and for some reason at least to me really really relaxing I could just literally sit and watch those fans spin it looks so nice and so smooth great choice could just be happenstance but seriously it it looks amazing they look so nice when they spin
wow. when i saw the thumbnail i genuinely thought this video was going to be about the real hyte case, which scared me because ive been planning a whole PC build around that case. them copying even the name is insane 😭
It’s just like purchasing a knockoff purse. Quality is not to par but from a distance it looks legit. People will continue to buy knockoffs if it’s a lot cheaper. Knockoff cases may sound louder or perform worse, but an average pc user probably wouldn’t notice. They don’t usually have another pc to compare noise level or performance.
1. Some of their workers had 10 years of experience while others 15. 2. They say that Usb 3.0 is supposed to be 5 Gbps but their implementation equals to 0.5 Gbps thus they have it 20 times faster with Usb Type-C. So as you can see it all makes sense, you just have to think different.
I'd be curious to see you review Gamdias products. I have a Mars M2 which I really like, despite shortcomings. It was one of the few cases with both a front-panel USB-C and a top-mounted power switch at the time, and after rebate it came out to about $50 Canadian. After a couple of years it finally has some additional competition (The ASUS Prime-AP201 would have been a much better choice for me had it been available at the time), but it was a decent little performer that I wish they iterated upon with a ventilated front panel, rather than the wierd redesign they did with the E3.
My comment keeps getting shadow deleted for some reason. I bought one of their PSU's (RGB-850 Pro). It came with a card saying to email your thoughts to them to get a free RGB mouse pad. I've been seeing their cases and power supplies on PCPP for ages and never once clicked on one, glad I got a Xigmatek Scorpio when I needed a cheal case.
They are being sold by Terabyte, the third largest Brazilian PC hardware online retailer, under their "Superframe" sub-brand costing US$ 120 (no fans) or US$ 140 (6 fans) They also sell monitors, SSDs, pheripherals, power supplies... It would be great to see more videos like that from now on, so we can see how much we are being *forcefully* ripped off by our own market. Another retailer interesting to look at would be Pichau.
I got the gamdias NESO P1 because it was the only one that could house a RTX 3090Ti on my budget and you can open the front of the case with a button. 😅
I've only ever used one Gamemax case, but I actually had pretty high praise for it, especially at its price point. Their Gamemax M60 case was pretty decent, easy to work in, pretty small, and it has perforated side panels which helps with ventilation since it only has one rear and two top fans. Honestly it was a decent and pretty minimalist case for around 40 USD.
If you spent years building gaming rigs in thousands of Gamermax cases you should be auto-banned from this comment section or any other comment sections.
bootleg's purpose was supposed to be dirt cheap and passable. the cheap price makes it an acceptable option. nowadays theyre also getting more expensive and that makes it extra shameless.
Interesting. I bought a Gamemax probably 7 years ago for a server build and I'm positive it wasn't like anyone elses. It had internal stack for 10 3.5", mounts fir another 8 2.5". Or, the 3.5 reconfigured to fit something like 14? more 2.5" Also fit a full 360mm radiator front and back, had a horizontal PCIe mount. I was looking everywhere for cases that would hold that many drives, or allow for a 5-drive unit into 3 5.25 bays
Oh hey I've owned two AIOs from GameMax, both of which have had absolute dreadful whining from the pump unless you push down on the plastic housing of said pump. Truly a mark of quality.

Thank you for correcting Steve. He really needs to look up the definition of "literal" and/or "theft."
Yes i know this is a wall of text, I'm sorry. I'll leave you with an example as the outro;
The world : has that Jonsbo lcd screen mAtx.
We : have the spitting image copycat alternative that goes by the name BOOST T-REX.
Maybe imports will get easier and cheaper with time, and in general freerer. i believe in it
Yeah, we in the West sometimes have a hard time understanding who these clones are even for. They are made to serve markets that the name brands have no presence in, Pakistan being a very obvious example. They love both PC and console gaming in Pakistan, but nobody is going to be repping name brand stuff, unless they buy stuff in Saudi Arabia when they go on Hajj.
Sounds like the situation here in the PH .
Never happens here in the PH unfortunately .@@vmthelegend5140
@@matrix3509 ....or any travel destination really. I'd say Dubai would be a better example here. But sadly, its still a bit of a toss-up in quite a few regions in the world still - as in, you're never sure whether you will or won't be subject to customs intervention for hauling over a single; clearly intended for personal use item. At times, with some stories I've heard from peers elsewhere, you might not even get to contest incurring duties or taxes, and instead face having the items (I mean consumer electronics here) be outrightly "seized" - Yikes.
Sigh. But like the other commenter said,
there's always hope yet.

I almost bought that case. Thank you guys for the info. I'm subscribing right now.
Roast the company all you want but don't misrepresent the product itself, that's just bad education and misleading information. For example, many people around the world have access to this product at lower prices and through companies that do much more honest marketing. Why not let them see the product for what it is?
@@aliberkozderya3112 but it's not misrepresentation? THAT'S my point
