The original version of this may have taught me how to build a PC but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been looking forward to this updated version.
Same! The 2019 series was pretty much an instruction manual for my first few builds
I should update my build. To this day my creation sits upon a throne in the Vatican.
Same. I just made my some watch this and part 2 because he wants to build his pc for a birthday

Hey, I highly recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a versatile and powerful cleaning tool that can help you maintain a spotless desktop setup. With its vacuuming and blowing capabilities, it's perfect for keeping every nook and cranny dust-free. Plus, it's portable and has a long-lasting battery. Definitely worth considering!
This kind of content for us occasional PC builders is so useful. Thanks for posting this!
Hey there, {{3}}! I'm glad you found the post helpful. Building a PC can be a really exciting project. As a fellow tech enthusiast myself, I recently came across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule and I must say, it's been a game-changer for keeping my desk clean and maintaining my PC. The vacuum and blowing capabilities are impressively powerful, and the multiple tubes and high-quality filters ensure long-lasting performance. Definitely worth checking out if you're interested in optimizing your setup!
As a bit more seasoned PC builder, I also find this video very useful. For a different reason: I can refer beginners to this, because I know Paul does a great job at explaining the basics of understanding PC components and assembling them into a built PC. It can help them build some confidence in doing the job themselves. While I don't assemble many PCs myself, I like staying up-to-date and giving PC build advices even to complete strangers.
There are other channels that are well suited for beginners (e.g. last time I checked LTT, it aimed at fairly casual audience), but I still think Paul did an exceptionally good job at conveying the basics in a video that is still fairly short (even some meme compilations, clickbait and other attention hijacking junk can run much longer).
Hello! I am just getting to building my first PC, and I've noted most of building PC guides don't really include how to look for the particular parts, and only how to put them together. This was extremely helpful, I feel I learned a lot from your video, and I am excited to be learning even more from your channel! Let's do it!
I've built PCs for 25 years, but I enjoyed your walkthrough so much I watched it the whole way through
Hey there! I see you're interested in PC building and maintenance. Have you heard about the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a compact and powerful tool for keeping your desktop clean. With its vacuuming and blowing capabilities, it's great for maintaining a spotless environment. Plus, it's reasonably priced compared to other brands. Worth checking out!

Your Newegg guide helped me build my first PC back in 2015! For that, I will forever be grateful to you Paul
Me too dude! … Hmm … I forgot that it was that long ago though, LoL.
@@ohdubwest7533 I know man, I was thinking the same thing, haha. Time flies.
Even though I feel very comfortable with building a computer, I just can't help but watch more building tutorials/videos to help keep my brain sharp when people around me ask for my thoughts on builds
Good man
Same. I haven’t built one since HS (2009) but I like to keep up.
It’s awesome to see how Paul’s “How-to build a PC” series has evolved over time. It’s wild to think that just a decade ago builds used to have HDDs with a tiny SSD for the OS.
Absolute top tier explanation and technical video Paul. Fantastic for newcomers and more savvy alike.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah, I can say I enjoyed watching it. Not that I've learned much new. It was more like listening to poetry.
It's clear and concise. It's very nicely explained even for first time builders. And it gets them on the level where they can already ask smarter questions :)
Paul, I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate you and these types of videos.
Back in 2012, I decide to assemble my own computer. I watched your "How to build a computer series" when you were at Newegg, over and over. I successfully built my ivy bridge build with your help.
Now we come full circle, I am finally able to upgrade, which has not been a priority since I have a family, and have been looking to refresh my memory on the pc parts and putting them together.
I just bought all the parts and am going to use this series to help again. Just wanted to let you know I appreciate you and all you do. Thanks dude.
I've been building PCs for years, several for friends and family, but I always love watching videos like this
I HAVE to say a huge thank you. ❤ I am so glad I came across you. Your confident delivery and ability to detail is exactly the guidance I need! I watched my ex and his friends build multiple rigs and I really wanted to learn too. I was just not able to jump in. My lifestyle didn't allow for time to game. I've made it a priority for this coming new year to learn and build my own so I can finally enjoy the one hobby I have. I haven't been able to play for so long.... I am looking forward to taking the time and energy this year. This is truly life changing information for me. So again. Thanks for being awesome. 😊
Hey Paul, I should have written this a long time ago but I owe you a huge debt of gratitude. Learning about DIY PC building and building my first PC in 2020 got me through a very difficult time in my life (it wasn't just C****D). These in-depth tutorials for beginners are so important for making the hobby accessible to newcomers and it's great to see an updated version.
Hey! I'm glad you found the in-depth guides helpful! If you're looking to optimize your desktop setup, I recommend considering the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities to maintain a spotless environment and is quite reasonably priced compared to other brands. Give it a shot! Have any other questions or need more recommendations? Feel free to ask! 👍
still remember mine as well, going through forums and oc sites, internet wasnt a thing so extra money spent to icafes, guess those limitations built good habits
Yea, I've been referring to the 2019 guide even in early 2023. These videos rock!
PC building guide videos will always be in demand as there's always a new generation of builders awaiting their "pc building awakening" if you like. Your videos were an inspiration to me and I'm sure many others can relate to this. Keep up the great work!
I don't know why I like watching these videos, I know how to build a computer, but its almost like doing the peel from the glass when I watch these how to build guides. I really enjoy these Paul keep them going....I'll keep watching them.
This is so nostalgic, i watched your old how to build series when i was building my first PC in 2017 and right now im looking to upgrade but i totally forgot how to build a PC from scratch, thank you for all the quality content you released throughout the years Paul!
It has been 15 years since I made a PC. So much had changed it was really handy to have this guide. Well made and direct. Thank you.
Omg I’m such a newbie and this video easily explains everything so well. Now I understand what the parts really do and what to look for so I can build. Thank you!
This video has the best explanation on what cores and threads do that I have been able to find (in the most simple terms as possible) TY Paul for the work you do and sharing your tech knowledge
I watched your build guide on Newegg back in 2013 when I made my first build.
Now I have a job in the tech industry. Thanks!
Very few things I find more pleasant after work than watching someone talk about building a PC. I really needed this video. I see also that you have 2 more after in the series. I'm watching them now.
I've recently started doing research to build my first PC, primarily to be used for GIS and Geomatics processes (plus Photo Editing and Gaming). So far, this is possibly the best explanation I've come across for what each of the 'basic' parts does and how they work together. You use easy to understand language that even laymen can understand and now I have a better understanding of what each part of the computer does beyond 'The RAM makes applications work faster' and 'The CPU does things and is important'.
Thanks very much!
My current PC has finally kicked the bucket after a valiant stand!
This guide could not have been timed better, thanks my man, valuable information as my next PC will be my first ever time building!
Cheers.
Used your last video to build me and my girlfriend our first gaming PCs. Huge respect for how clear you make your videos without being patronising so we can rewatch and keep up with the new stuff for when we eventually upgrade :)
Paul 6 years ago you helped me build my first ever computer from what I saved up from my last ever retail job. 6 years, 3 degrees, and my first real paycheck later, you're helping me all over again. Thank you so much for keeping the lights on all these years.
Thank you Paul, this is now my go-to video to forward to friends and family who often ask me to either build them a computer or help them buy one.
I think your explanations are really helpful for those shopping pre-builds also.
Much appreciation on breaking everything down. It is nice to be able to understand how everything functions and what certain terms mean. A thousand thanks.
This is actually a perfect explainer. I’m very interested in building my first machine and you’ve explained a LOT of what I was simply too stumped about. Now to move on to the actual building video. Cheers, my man
Your videos gave me the confidence to build my first PC in 2019, love the updated version.
Great content, as always. I watched one of your old build guides before building my first PC in 2016 and I just finished my 2nd build a couple months ago. But I still watched this new guide.
I would love to see a video explaining a bit about what activities some of the higher end hardware is used for. Things like the fastest M.2s, faster memory, Xeon/threadripper cpus,.etc.
This is a great update. Simple and concise. Used the last one and hope the other in this series give us pointers on what to put in with the current generation of stuff
I know this is from last year, but this made me pull up my PC Part Picker page and comb through each part I (kind of randomly) chose and read into them more closely. I'm building a PC for the first time and I'm a little daunted, but I'm excited to watch more of your videos after watching this excellent breakdown. Thank you!
Thx for doing these videos.
Back in 2020, I built the “$1000 PC everyone should build” you posted, based on the B450 Tomahawk Max/Ryzen 5 3600X/EVGA NVIDIA 2060. It’s still the best computer I ever had (and still use).
I’m looking forward to the next build (like this one) in the future.
Love your content thank you I don't consider myself a beginner but I always love freshing up on the basics of all the parts your one of my favorite tech youtuber
So excited to see this! I always send PC building beginners to you for THE BEST information and have been looking forward to this updated version!
Thank you for explaining and not making me feel as dumb as I am when it comes to technology
This is the best guide by far, everyone else I’ve seen makes it more complicated and way too hard to follow, I understand fully this is great.
Excellent video Paul, I am sure this will a lot of people getting into or updating an old build and haven't been tracking all the changes in the recent years.
Excited to see the next few parts. As someone building their first build ever soon, I'm interested to see footage of the process of installing parts, plugging them in to the mobo, PSU, etc. That's the stuff that has me uncomfortable doing correctly.
Thank you. I'm getting back in the game and this was great to see what's current in parts. Subscribed.
You and Jay were instrumental in teaching me how to build a gaming PC several years ago. Great to see an updated version!
Great video, always good to go over the basics for all of the new people out there that want to jump in on the pc world.
Thank you for making this video I was very lost about my first build but your so informative💕 I feel much more confident about the parts I’m purchasing 💗✨
I know nothing about the internals of a computer 7 minutes in and im really impressed how well the explanation is going on now i know how a cpu works thank you
Thank you so much Paul. As someone who was tech illiterate especially in PC hardware and building, this video is super helpful and well presented in a way truly doe beginners (ive seen others and they used too mucy jargon and overcomplicate).
Cant wait to build my gaming pc soon because of you 🤝
I may need this refresher since the last time your video helped me was back In 2012.
Getting ready to build another pc. I have built 3 but this series will be a nice refresher.
Keep up the great work! I built my first PC from watching you and a few other youtubers who really know their stuff. Thanks!
Watching your early videos helped me build my first PC. Thank you for making these.
Really Back to basic and great insight on the whys and what's on the components. Very well done.
May I suggest a finale episode with a short resume
thank you so much for this videooooo. I did not know the first thing about PC's or even computers and all the other tutorials just use these confusing words that I didn't understand, but your video explained everything so well, now I actually get it :))
Just starting to get into pc building lest i get left behind by my gaming buddies. I will be saving this video for near future views as i explore more people and ideas to listen to. Thanks much!
You sir are a Genius!!! building my first PC so this video gave me more confidence on doing it on my own!!!
A refresh of one of the first Paul videos I ever watched. Excellent!
Thanks for the vid! Planning my first PC build. Thanks for your work.
tysm for explaining the basics of each part. I had to write an essay on pc hardware but I'm not that interested in it so I didn't know what all the acronyms meant and which specs were the most important so thanks, you just saved my grade
Excellent laydown clearing up a lot of tricky foundational matters. Thank you! A sort of holistic understanding is starting to arise at this point.
I’ve been building my own gaming PCs for over 20 years, and still learned plenty from this video. Thanks!
Appreciate the info! I knew just bit and pieces of PCs but not all. Currently on a Gaming Laptop but moving to a Desktop in a few days. Glad I got to know a bit more info so I can eventually but gradually upgrade the components along with the case.
Oh wow thank you so much! This video is so informative and provides in-depth explanations!
This gave me a really good understanding on what this is about. Thankyou very much
Just starting to learn about building my own rig and this was an excellent video. Subbed.
A yearly update as new parts and features come out is a great idea.
As a beginner who is getting into building a PC this channel is an amazing gateway for new people to get into building PC's I love this channel!
For someone that only gets to build a new PC every 3-6 years these updated build videos are very much appreciated.
Why do I always watch his building videos when he has taught me it all already? I think it's his video structure and instructional style. Thanks @Pauls's Hardware! You have literally saved me hundreds of dollars with your videos!
While I am absolutely not the target audience for this I can still appreciate this. Easier to send less knowledgeable friends this link than try and explain it all myself.
Also love this video. Really great for beginners or intermediates. Keep up the good work.
Pretty certain that the original series is what got me through my first PC build during covid. So super happy there's an update.
Planning on building my rig and will definitely use this. Thanks!
For a rookie PC Builder, this guy covers every aspect of each component very well. Subscribed! 👍🏽
Hey, you gave me chills with that HDD B roll. I could hear the clicks all the way to my place
Bruh, so much information. I'm going to have to rewatch this a couple more times. Thank you.
Haven't built one in 15 years and this video was perfect. Thank you!
I like how Paul explains everything, so you can understand what each PC component does.
Excellent!!! Glad your doing builds again!!!
Always good to revisit the basics, thanks Paul 👍🏻
A great job! A nice, concise & valuable video, even for experienced viewers. Thanks.
I built my first PC because of an earlier version of this series of videos. I'm typing this on the very PC your guides helped me build. Thank you, Paul!
Pauls work has helped me since the pre "Paul's Hardware" days back in... 2012? Once again, love your work Paul!
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so much for this. I’m completely ignorant about PC hardware and it’s function. I’ve finally decided to build my PC and I know what parts I need but nothing about their purpose and the specs I should look for to meet my usage needs.
Thanks a lot for this basic introduction. I am standing by for more.
Thanks Paul. Great overview. Looking forward to checking out more of your videos before I make my next build.
Absolute top tier explanation and technical video Paul. Fantastic for newcomers and more savvy alike
Brilliant video. I'm an old hand at building computers, but thoroughly enjoyed watching this and would happily share it with beginners.
Great video, will always trust you as I have had good experiences in the past. Keep doing you.
Thank you Paul - very helpful and informative
Awesomesauce video Paul!!! So nice to see your updated building videos!! You sir are the man!!!
I can’t thank you enough for the metaphors and explanations.
These walkthroughs are always the best on UA-cam!
you are missing a very basic part: Limitless credit card/mortage as colllateral/a kidney for adquicisitionon of said GPU
im currently trying to get A+ certified and this really helps me grasp the concepts better.
Your explanation very good. No annoying element. 👍🏻🔥🔥
Man I’d love a micro centre in the uk . You guys are so fortunate
i learned how to build my first computer via your excellent 3 part series years ago (i think you were still with Newegg or maybe they sponsored that video). i learned one major thing from those videos that saved my first computer build. I breadboarded the major components outside the case to test them. As it turned out i had a bad motherboard and while that was frustrating.. it was actually way easier troubleshooting outside the case rather than inside the case. if i have someone that i'm helping them build a computer, i routinely tell them to watch your video series as they are the best i have seen.
Thank you for the knowledge, it helped.
Always learning tech with Paul's Hardware... Excellent. ❤👍x2
I haven’t even watched the video but I have already liked it because I know it’s going to be great
Great job on the video Paul!!
Thank You for this. Have been watching you for years!!
Love the video! Thanks! I'm going to attempt to build two computers with my daughters ages 9 and 11. Going to use your videos to help! Wish me luck!
Super helpful video. Thank you!
