@@PortugalZeroworldcup But Serbian scientist named Nikola Tesla discovered ways to make the world what it is today in terms of electricity. However, electric current existed even before Tesla's discoveries. Direct current was in use, invented by Thomas Edison, and it is important to note that Nikola Tesla did not invent or discover even alternating current, it existed before him but was considered unusable. It was Tesla's inventions that made alternating current efficient and widely applicable, helping to electrify the world. Tesla's most famous invention was the development of an alternating current system. These systems have enabled the transmission of electricity over long distances and are used worldwide for its distribution. Direct current at that time had a huge disadvantage, that it loses its power when transmitted over long distances. It also did not have the voltage to run large motors. Tesla believed that alternating current was more efficient for transmitting energy over long distances, due to its ability to be easily transformed and regulated. He used transformers to increase or decrease the voltage of the current, which was an efficient transfer of energy at different voltage levels. He also developed other components, such as alternators, capacitors and various forms of switches to make the system functional.

Russian people have a very old culture which gives us our identity, despite the politics. We have always been a country of tsars and peasants, nobils and serfs, Bolshevicks and plebs. We've rarely had a middle class. So we've learned to distinguish ourselves from those who rule us, rarely giving in to that illusion, having skepticism for those who claim to be our equals. So that is how we see the world, even countries who claim to be free. That being said, German culture is very similar to Russian, and German is even one of the languages you can learn in high school. My grandmother, who survived the siege of Moscow, took German immediately after. The thought of blaming German people, or even the soldiers, never crossed her mind.
What I as an American admire most about Russia? The innovation and indomitable will of its people. I wish our 2 nations could work together on things and compromise more without personal self interests bothering anyone.
