@@albiceleste101 Grant Imahara passed away last year. you see this comment everywhere cause Rufiy0 copy paste this comment on every Tabletop video with Grant Imahara in the title. I want to believe he's doing it out of respect but the cynical part of me think he's farming likes...
Same for me! My friends and I loved the show and allready bought a couple of those games because of Will's enthusiasm and the fun he had with his guests! Also, it's a lot easier to get a feel whether the game suits you or not when you see it played (instead of getting the whole rulebook getting rammed down your troat).
I've been asking too. I think Will, Felicia and the others got tired and moved on. A shame. Though when Will started dying his hair and got tatted it got a bit weird for me. For me the look just didn't suite him, but to each their own. I still wish they would bring the show back. Nothing else on G&S interests me in the least.
just to clarify the theme. The cards don't represent who YOU are. It represents who currently has your letter. Which is why the princess is a card. Once she has your letter you're good unless you scorn her because then she discards your letter in the fire and you're out. So the game is your letter passing around from Guard to handmade to baron to priest to Guard again to King and whoever is closest to the princess they get the letter to her first and she doesn't bother with any other letters for the rest of the evening.
Thank you for explaining; I have been so confused about that. Like "Why would the king be giving his daughter a love letter...?" The game is about how close to the princess your card can get without one of the other suitors finding it and destroying it.
@@LassBisharp Basically yes. There's a surprising amount of th eme in the game but it's not 100% plotted out. Then again i've only played 1st ed there might be more theme stuff in the new edition (3rd I think)
Normally, I avoid rules-lawyering, but this is for any new gamers that are interested in playing Love Letter, it's an awesome game that everyone deserves to play: When you play cards they stay in front of you on the table, not in a shared discard pile. This is important, as they are used in the tie-breaker situation that occurs at 20:25. You add up the value of the cards you played, and the higher total wins. Wil explains the Baron slightly incorrectly: When you play the Baron, you compare the OTHER card you have remaining in your hand with someone else's hand, not comparing the Baron you played with their card, so can win against cards other than the Guard or Priest. When the Baron is first played, around the 5:40 mark, they actually play it correctly, comparing hands, but it sounds like they played it incorrectly during the jump-cut, around the 14:43 mark. Also important and often overlooked with the Baron is that, if you compare hands and you both have the same card, usually the Prince, then NOTHING HAPPENS. The Baron states "The lower value is out of the round". In a draw, both players will see each others card, probably smile with the realization of what just happened, and continue playing, leaving everyone else momentarily confused.
She's not fat. It's her build, she's healthy, and she's not even husky. Different women have different body types, and personally I find her body type attractive; a lot of guys do, and a lot don't. But she's not fat. :/ Yes, I know you're a troll. Yes, I posted this before. Yes, I did so because You-Tubers get a lot of flak as it is, and I would prefer to be encouraging and help balance the trolling and hating for their sake.
I've been really curious about how Love Letter was and now I know it really is this simple, yet awesome, game everyone talks about so much. Thank you for this and for the message in the end of this video. I'm really excited about season 3 and hope it gets to us really soon. Congratulations and keep up with the awesome work you guys have been doing!
I bought this game last weekend, my friends and I have found that if you pick a occupation and the make a story as to why the princess has given you a token of her affection (love cube) that the game becomes more fun and personal. Also incase of a tie the person who had the highest value discards is the winner, which is why it's a good idea to play with separate discard piles. Enough about my experience with the game, great show and I'm looking forward to season 3, this series had really steered me back towards board games.
I got this game for Christmas and have not played it until I found your video showing how to play! Thank you so much for showcasing this game!!! I love love games and love watching you guys play!!! Keep it up! So much fun!
Sweet. I get to nitpick. You're supposed to discard the cards that you play in front of yourself so that, in the event of a tie, the person with the highest total value of his/her discarded cards wins. Also, one must keep them them in discard order to make deduction easier.
I actually buy a lot of the games you guys play because watching you guys play it but actually playing it makes it more fun ty guys make a great third season
A friend of mine bought this game after watching this video. We played a couple of time and have to say it is really entertaining. The best thing is that he can carry it anywhere. Also, the fact that it have a short game play is a plus when all our friends get reunited as it gives everybody the opportunity to play.
Wow, it's amazing how much some of the simple post-production affects the quality of the show. You don't notice it when watching the regular episodes, but they clearly put a lot of work into it to take out the fluff and boost the quality.
I figured Grant had the Princess in the first round, because he left that card on the table untouched, never even looking at it when he drew the subsequent cards.
I'm so glad they've played his cuz some of my friends were playing this onthe bus and they wouldn't explain to me what it was or how toplay and I couldnt figure it out from just watching them but it seemed fun and interesting
The quick qualities for being on Tabletop: 1) under an hour 2) relatively simple rules 3) easy to track via camera 4) generally not card games (watching the players stare at their cards makes for a boring show even if the game is fun) 5) both chance and strategy (chance gives newcomers a potential win, strategy gives thought points) 6) theme 7) in production
great show... Will you are the best. I personally never got the chance to play some of the amazing games that you guys do, but I had one game for a very long time and it's Bootleggers. It's an awesome game and I would be more than happy if you guys can make an episode of you playing that game.
Tom Jiang It's been 3 days since I watched it, but I remember Wil explaining what's going on wrong (you're not the characters, they're helping deliver you letter) and they messed up how a tie is handled. I seem to remember more when i watched it, but I don't know if I want to commit to watching it again just to do this reply. But that doesn't matter. They had fun.
***** They should have played the cards in front of each player. This allows everyone to see what everyone has played in the case of a tie. There are also a pre-determined number of cubes for people to play to (otherwise you may run out.)

You're supposed to track who has played which cards, in case of a tie when the cards run out, you compare the played cards value as a second tiebreaker.
Just so everyone knows, if you buy the boxed version the score counters aren't little red cubes they're little heart tokens. I still own the pouch version. Because pouch. Not to be a rules lawyer, but you're actually supposed to place your played cards in front of you once you play them. The higher total wins in the event of a tie. And other stuff.
@ 4:30 - Both Grant and Nika could still be holding Guard cards (there are 5 total) Grant could be holding a Baron that he just drew on his turn if he was holding the Guard when Nika took her turn. But since he didn't bother to conceal that the discarded card was the one drawn, I guess we do know he doesn't have a Baron. Important to conceal which card you're discarding.
You should definitely make Nika Grant, Felicia and Colin Ferguson regulars. They are so much fun. You really have a wonderful circle of friends. Now... play more games😜

This makes more sense to me if the cards are favors the person on the card owes you, some minor contact or relationship you have with them, which you are going to use to try to get them to deliver your love note to the Princess. That's why the princess is the best because for whatever reason she will accept your love note directly. If you discard a card that is like stepping on the favor, leaving bad feelings, which is why you lose if you discard the Princess. This also I think brings more of a feel of court intrigue to the game because it is manipulation, espionage and deceit that you are conducting through your web of favors and contacts, represented by the cards.
RIP Grant, you were one of the reason why I dove into the hobby

No need to defend him buddy; no one was attacking the guy.

Hey Wil, I love your show. You ought to play 7 Wonders. I played it recently and really enjoyed it.
We had a gaming night for work tonight. It could have used more tabletop games, they were mostly the party type games, but a lot of fun either way.
just saying but me and my friend totally rocked this game.

Now... play more games😜

I adore Love Letter. :D
Back in my day this was how gaming was back in 1956! -
My Grandfather
They should do more livestreams.
Awww.... they're playing for companion cubes!
Woo a game on tabletop that I play already. I keep a copy in my car at all times.
Sulu and Crusher... playing Love Letter.
Oh My!
Do you think that Grant Imahara plays Sulu?

I saw the krosmaster arena you guys should play it!
Totally need Tabletop to make some episodes during this friggin' pandemic!! :)
lol "I like sharing ..but also... murder!" that was hilarious!
just when I think I've heard that song for the last time lol
Grant showed a nice tell, not holding his card and only looking at the new drawn card. I would use a guard on him if possible :)
Ugh they got the Baron wrong. The Baron doesn't compare the BARON to the other cards, it compares the card you didn't play to other cards.
Wil did explain it incorrectly but they played it right in the end. (Grant sort of cleared it up)
But then it sounds like they (Wil) messed it up again in the cutaway
Rip Grant
Wil, Runewars will apear in Season 3?
Love Wil and Anne :)
The Princes at 19:35 ran off to New Hampshire where the were Promptly met by the New Hampshire Dark Magics and were destroyed.

You should each keep your discarded/played cards in front of you. On a tie at the end of a round, those cards are summed up to break the tie.
More Nika Harper!!!!!!
