That scout has to keep running counts in their head without showing the fact they're doing math in their heads on their face. And during all that the scout has to give the signals without surveillance detecting the fact they're giving signals. They have to resist the urge to turn to look at their teammates to check if they even saw the signal. The scout has the most face time with casino staff. Definitely not an easy role.

I mean, you can't "win" in D&D, but some sort of Battle Royale D&D one-shot with Tom, Laurie, and maybe Pete Quinell if he's still around; vs pro D&D'ers from Critical Role, Dimension 20, Children of Erte, etc. Even if it needs to be partially Zoom-ified (though if they could get everyone in London together, that would be amazing of course!).... it would be mind-blowing!

It's important to note why Steven is banned from every casino in the UK - he's good at calculating the odds in a game that's all about the odds. Or in other words, the casinos only let you play if you're bad at playing. Fools and their money are soon parted.
Having worked in casinos for the past four years, you guys perfectly showed the difference between people that understand etiquette and those learning with no care whatsoever, especially when Sullivan started with almost half his funds in one go and Dan doubled down by putting his bet on top of his original bet and not next to it on the first hand. @MajinTV True, but for the purposes of showcasing counting cards it is necessary. If anything it shows people that go to a casino why showing the burn card, especially on double deck (a table using just two decks), is shut down immediately. I should say at least in the casinos I've worked at that's the rule. And unless they plan on playing blackjack again in studio, why invest in a shoe? They do have a discard tray though, which did surprise me to see so perhaps they had access and just decided against it

Yes, I think he played his part well, explaining the card counting theory, but then just kind of playing for more fun in his actual decisions. 'cause You obviously can't demonstrate the actual probability in 1 hour playing like 20 hands per hour.
@@EnderSword also, people are alot less conservative when its not their real money on the line. To start with steven was beting smart, leading to smaller, but consistent wins. Where as Sully was betting like he knew the money meant nothing. I play Holdem not Blackjack, and i'm actually pretty good, but i find playing for "fun' with fake money harder in a way, because people don't play the same with nothing on the line.
I think I have died, but this was hilarious! Also the classic cake counting dilemma, comparing how many cakes you have made to how many cakes Daniel J Layton has made to how many cakes Holly Musgrave will make.

Love that Holly mentioned Harvest moon DS. That was also one of my introductions to blackjack when I was a kid. That game also included the abillity to get a game over by killing the town mayor with your dog at the start of the game. You could also get a game over by attempting to kill the entire town by poisoning a communal soup with a lvl 100 mushroom. And in one of the versions of the game you could court a witch who would only accept to marry you if you litter the town, kill 50 of your own animals and poison the town soup for atleast 5 years. farming games tend to be like that

I tried to look up the basics of card counting, just to see if I could keep up. I couldn't. Even though the card dealing was slow, I wasn't speaking, I had a shorter delay between games, and I could go back and double check I was still almost always off by 1. I can't imagine doing it in an actual casino when cards are flying by and there's noise everywhere, AND you're trying to not look suspicious.
I must say that this expert was super fun. I love to watch "geniuses" play what they are super good at but many of them are just such pricks or so hyper focussed on winning, that they aren't fun. This was different. It was fun to watch Steven play but he was also fun and entertaining. He did not absolutely not care about it winning, but he let his focus go down enough that he was able to entertain EVERYONE. It was such a blast to see this dynamic.
I loved Steven’s magic content a few years ago. It’s awesome to see his career change and now him visiting the idiots on my favorite board game channel. What a great video!

I can't imagine doing it in an actual casino when cards are flying by and there's noise everywhere, AND you're trying to not look suspicious.
I must say that this expert was super fun. I love to watch "geniuses" play what they are super good at but many of them are just such pricks or so hyper focussed on winning, that they aren't fun.
This was different. It was fun to watch Steven play but he was also fun and entertaining. He did not absolutely not care about it winning, but he let his focus go down enough that he was able to entertain EVERYONE. It was such a blast to see this dynamic.
