This is the problem with American Law Enforcement, they don't know the law and don't have the the soft skills to interact with the public. This leads to needless escalations and violence.
Hmmmm, interesting that you would place the blame on law enforcement in general. De-escalation is taught, but when politicians and community leaders tell people they don't have to listen to the police, lets re-evaluate who is the cause of this one, shall we? Appreciate all opinions, but can't stand the so called community leaders encouraging violence against officers and then the public blames the officers. Have a good one and be safe.

I wish my son could have seen this video before he went for his p.o. interview, he just had one and said he was nervous and it was intimidating. To take you to the beginning, about a dozen men showed up for the written and physical and half of them had to drop because they weren't able to pass the physical so then that left 6, one of which was my son. So he passed both the written and physical parts and then had the interview which he did pass that, all 6 did and my son came in 5th place for scoring on the interview. Next he said he waits to get a call to see if he passes the background check and if he does, he will be sent to have a mental evaluation done, and then if he passes that he will be headed to the police academy for 4 months and then hopefully become a police officer. He wants this so badly and I'm praying he passes everything and makes it all the way. Is it bad that he came in 5th on the interview scoring list? He started work at Walmart as a cart pusher and is now a department manager, he's been with Walmart for 13 years. His work ethic is excellent.

Thank you for your videos. I graduated from college in 2008 during the recession when most Departments were at a hiring freeze. After 3 years of failed interviews I gave up. The reason I failed was entirely because I had no clue what departments wanted to hear from applicants during the Oral Boards. Had I taken 5 minutes to research or had access to videos like this things may have been different. Now at 43 I’m making the effort again to become a police officer and although I haven’t landed a job yet I have my 4th different Chief’s interview in a few hours where before I never got past the initial interview. I’m close, just need to put everything together.
Great news and good luck. I appreciate the kind words about the videos. Keep us updated on your progress and feel free to share any questions I have missed, LOL.
great video! keeping in mind the protect and serve thought process is a great point. ill remember that for my interview and my career in law enforcement.
Great video! Great information! If a Police Department has a hiring age limit of 39 but the applicant is 42 should the prospective applicant forget about applying or is there a chance the Department will take circumstances such as military experience or a strong family background in law enforcement as extenuating circumstances to hire that individual. THANKS!
Well, there are federal law enforcement jobs that have that age restriction because they have a mandatory retirement age/time in service. Some times they will take military time into consideration if you are willing to "buy your time back", that may bring you in under the requirement. A recruiter or someone in HR should be able to answer that for you.
strong family background in law enforcement no. Military yes if you served your time they will most likely increase the age limit but only by a few years probably 4 or 5
I failed my interview, none of the questions on here was ask. I got froze and went to ahhhhhhhh ummmm mode. I practice for two weeks and none of the questions was asked.
Sorry to hear that the exact questions weren't in any of the videos. I really try to explain the theory behind the questions anyway with thoughts about what to consider when answering. If you share the questions we can help others not get blindsided in the future. Hope you keep trying.

Fairfax VA? Make sure to follow all the rules and do things exactly how they say. They appreciate individuals and the benefits of different personalities, but they expect their processes to be followed. Good department, stay safe. Did they have any unique interview questions you can share?
Thank you for your great information. I just did my written exam for the PD and passed. I wad accepted for the oral board. The problem is that it is an online one way interview. Each question has 1 min think time and 3 min answer time. I'm not sure if that 1 min is enough or the 3 min to answer. How do I overcome this and think fast enough and give ad much ad I can in the 3 mins? We don't have to use the whole 3 mins.
I will try and put out a video in the next day or two. Remember, base everything on honesty and the idea of protecting and serving the community. Good luck and stay safe

Before I even start the application process, I'm doing so much research on all parts of the hiring process because I want to be ready. Your videos along with others is really helping me be more confident and ready. Thank you.
I wanna say what a great and informative video you’ve made. As a man in his 20s, your older and wiser viewpoints and recommendations are great. I think you showed your deep understanding with the example of ‘running and gunning’. A young officer giving advice might say “you just shouldn’t do that”. On the other hand (im assuming) you know that this is something that will happen regardless of advice. So with that you show someone how to twist it in their favor. I dont know but the little things like that show how much experience you have.
Hi. I’m currently in the process of testing again. I tried a number of departments when I was younger (21) but did not have any success. I’m now 37 and have been a paramedic for the last 16 years. My question is 1) do you think I’ll have a harder time getting in now because of my age? And 2) should I pull from my experience as a paramedic and having dealt with the public for all these years? Or do they not want to hear about that. Thanks in advance
The age can actually help you, something to be said for gained maturity. You absolutely want to refer to and use your paramedic experiences. You have already dealt with a wide variety of the public in a multitude of settings. I think your in a good spot. Stay safe
what happened when you were 21? did you fail the physical test ? or ? i’m 19 soon to be 20 and my dream is to become a police officer . i need all the help I can get
@@sergiocervantes1662 I failed one physical test… my first one. During HS I wrestled and did tons of sit ups. Leading up to the test I practiced everything but the sit ups. And that’s what got me. All other tests I either didn’t preform well in the interview or someone performed better then me. I’ve always passed the written tests. Some scores better then others. Back then it was very competitive (not sure how much now) so I was competing against a few hundred people some times. I have plenty cop friends. Almost all have tested multiple times before getting hired somewhere. If it’s what you really want to do just practice and keep trying.

How’d it go?
@@DoeJohn67 did great in the interview and am currently in the background process
Great news and good luck. I appreciate the kind words about the videos. Keep us updated on your progress and feel free to share any questions I have missed, LOL.

No I am not tired of listening to important stuff.thank you
Thank you these videos have been some help. My written exam is September 20th 2022 and I'm watching and reading everything I can to prepare myself.
How’d you end up doing bro? How long was it?
@@Musashis_Finest I haven't heard back yet. Thank you for asking!
We had 2 and half hours. I finished with 10 minutes left.
@@crusaderone1701 nice bro gotcha I’m going for USCP myself right now hopefully it’s a smooth process
@@Musashis_Finest that's amazing, good luck. So I needed a 70% and above to pass. My score was 73.70% 😊😊😊
You said somethings that I wouldn't even think of.
great video! keeping in mind the protect and serve thought process is a great point. ill remember that for my interview and my career in law enforcement.
Military yes if you served your time they will most likely increase the age limit but only by a few years probably 4 or 5
Great video and advice 👍
Hey thanks appreciate nice Job int tips basic but spot on ! Sgt int tomorrow all about communicating and active listening
Absolutely, officer or supervisor, communication is the key. Hope everything went well. Let me know.
Good information
Glad you liked it. Are you looking to get into Law Enforcement?
This was really helpful sir. Thank you very much for the information.
Glad it was helpful! Appreciate your comment and your time on the channel.
Ty helps with the choices to move forward in what ever choices I make
Is it an ok answer to say Iv always had the utmost respect for law enforcement and felt god moving me in that way. I know I can help make a difference
i'm going into the fairfax police department any good advice on how to tackle that?
Fairfax VA? Make sure to follow all the rules and do things exactly how they say. They appreciate individuals and the benefits of different personalities, but they expect their processes to be followed. Good department, stay safe. Did they have any unique interview questions you can share?
Great 👍🏻
Thank you for your great information.
You did a good job on the scenario based example. I do appreciate it for making this video . I am about to face an interview upcoming week for
becoming a cop in Virginia. Wish me luck !!
Just did one, I have another soon. How’d yours go?
@@yaig1134 the interview went well and I got the job! The video was really helpful to get the job. Good luck with your next interview!!

This video was incredibly helpful. I am young, but my dream is to become a police officer, to protect and to serve my community. Thank you for the amazing advice, i hope my dream can come true if i try hard enough
A lot of dreams can come true if you try hard enough. Keep going and keep dreaming.
Same man, also nice profile pick :)
Thank you for this i have a interview tomorrow.
How did it go?
@@alirashid5158 good I got to the background investigation and now waiting to here back from them !
4:39. Bingo! That's the key to any interview. Have a game plan. Your basically selling yourself to be hired
Got my interview in 30 minutes, let's go!
Go get em!!!! Let us know how it goes.
How it go?
great video.
This was great. I wish I had seen this video 2 weeks ago. I went through my first oral board and I didn’t pass it. I’m great at talking but I didn’t tied my answers to the position, I have a bunch of irrelevant stuff haha.
Nothing is irrelevant, it’s about how to apply life experience to the question. It can get tricky but it can be done. Keep trying
Respect 🤝
Super useful information. Thank you boss man.
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Before I even start the application process, I'm doing so much research on all parts of the hiring process because I want to be ready. Your videos along with others is really helping me be more confident and ready. Thank you.
It’s helpful!
Thank you 🙏
I wanna say what a great and informative video you’ve made.
I have my panel interview this Wednesday, I’m super nervous and want to be able to succeed much as possible. But I don’t have the greatest memory
Definitely helpful,, i pass my interview of a local poilce department and i had 7 people interviewing me.
Thank you very much
Stay safe
Yes it will, because you have a longer to remember history .
what happened when you were 21? did you fail the physical test ? or ? i’m 19 soon to be 20 and my dream is to become a police officer . i need all the help I can get
@@sergiocervantes1662 I failed one physical test… my first one.
@@BigE410 do you have any female cop friends?
Copy that
