- Do you want to improve your BMW M2s performance, without removing the factory cat? This Stage 1 upgrade could be perfect for you!
The BMW M2 has all the right ingredients for a fantastic ///M car with a lot of performance parts from its 'bigger' sibling the M3 and M4. However, BMW did choose to limit the performance potential (but not sound!) by installing the N55 single turbo engine to it, with a bunch of parts from lower-end models to limit performance.
The biggest performance limiter on this model is the stock intercooler. The intercoolers job is to cool the air after it is compressed by the turbocharger. Once boost levels are increased with ECU upgrades, the factory intercooler which is the same size as what is installed on the 114i starts to show its lack of performance. To solve this, we install the CSF intercooler, this intercooler not only performs well on a stock car but also a tuned car whereby it has much better cooling power to extract more heat from the more compressed air, as with Stage 1 ECU software.
The next upgrade is the Eventuri cold air intake, as well as looking absolutely incredible with its gloss carbon fiber construction but it also improves the airflow into the engine, allowing the engine to make more power and also isolates the intake air better vs. the factory plastic item from the hot engine bay heat. A BIG win-win!
To solve a common reliability issue we also fit the FTP charge pipes. These replace the factory items which are made from a combination of plastic and rubber units, these can fail over time as they fatigue with boost and heat cycles, and are especially prone to fail at higher boost levels! Letting out all of that compressed air into the atmosphere.
Lastly, we install our RSS Stage 1+ ECU software. This custom ECU software optimises the fuelling, ignition, boost and many other maps inside the ECU to improve the engines output, with the upgrades taken into account too.
Baseline output = 370HP & 395lbfts
Maximum output = 401HP & 445lbfts
Maximum gains = +40HP & +50lbfts
Peak gains = +26HP & +50lbfts

Great find this video
Thank you! Did you enjoy it?
@@RegalAutosport Sure did enjoy it a lot, also saving towards my dream car M2 (maybe would end up with a m240i) and me being in Bournemouth would make it easy to get upgrades at Regal Southampton.
Learnt watching the videos. Much appreciated.
@@jawadkazmi5327 did you get the m2?
Phenomenon tips. I have this same M2 with the Eventuri intake. Definitely upgrading the inter cooler and turbo and map it. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thanks for the kind words, enjoy!
Is it possible to share the tools needed to complete the Eventuri intake job? Would be massively appreciated! TIA
Thanks for the message, we'd recommend reaching out to Eventuri for an installation guide
Which exhaust tips are fitted to this? Looks ace!
Thanks for the comment, I believe this is the REMUS system
Is an upgraded fuel pump needed for stage 1 with the n55?
It is beneficial, especially as the cars get older and the pumps struggle to supply the fuel volume
👍
Thanks for watching again!

Thank you
The stock 370hp are wheel or crank?
We always talk about crank
@@RegalAutosport That's about 415hp SAE right? but it seems Bmw advertise its power at 370 though
This is Ecu stock or mapped ?
ECU has been remapped
No downpipe??
Correct! Stock downpipe
Surprised that after upgrading the intake and the effort and expense of a new intercooler, that he didn't go stage 2 by adding a downpipe.
40 bhp not a big difference, especially if 15 is from the intercooler....
Thanks for the comment, he wanted to keep the emissions control equipment stock. Removing or changing emission control devices in the UK is generally an MOT failure, rendering your vehicle non road legal.
40bhp gain at that sort of power is a pretty good gain and you would definitely feel the difference.
@@cbrrob1670 yeah you would, but stage 1 on a golf 7 R gives you 75 bhp by way of comparison
And it's a totally different car/engine, plenty of engines more more or less bhp from a stage 1, I don't quite get the point you are getting on trying to compare a golf r against a m2? You said about going stage 2 on the m2 but why bother for the little extra power and have the hassle of trying to get a mot on it?
@@cbrrob1670 I can give several examples of a stage 1 tune giving more than 40 bhp. The point is it's quite a conservative tune....with the money spent I would have gone stage 2....each to their own...
Can't believe BMW still put those junk plastic parts on, I got a 2011 135i stage 1+ & that's the same charge pipe I replaced...
Yeah the plastic construction with bonded mounting points are a huge weak point in an otherwise fantastic car! It's easy to solve those problems with this upgrade though.
