I feel like this album was really a "you wanted a twist?" type album. Every criticism that was thrown at them was addressed - the entire chorus is full of high notes. The album has RANGE. The album keeps you invested without being full of boring ballads (which, the ballads on this album are NOT boring at all!). Very iconic. Major props to the girls and to their team.
I think the album is more on showing the members their unique qualities and ability to do different genres rather than having just one storyline. Hence why, black and white and I've Ive (I have IVE) is more on how special IVE is and how different they are.
Ive is proving every hater (not saying you are the hater i'm talking about those tiktoks😭 wrong) They said IVE can't sing? Every member is singing and proving themselves, going to shows were they need to sing live, going viral because of their vocals on tiktok. Said they can't dance proving them wrong, again I saw more than 4 tiktoks praising ive's stage presence of the recent performances they did. They said IVE isn't talented, girlies wrote 7 out of 11 songs. Now IVE has proved that they are one of the best 4th gen groups, nobody is allowed to shit on them. And even if you don't stan them you can't deny the music bangs. Specially the new album is just too good. The only thing sse couldn't do right was promoting them, the girls had to beg every night at bubble to wait a little longer... but still the album is breaking records here and there as it should 🤧 Also ive is now tied with bts for having the most songs reaching #1 in spotify korea, makes me soo proud💕💕
Well they wrote lyrics for songs and rappers wrote their part for 4 songs would be more precise. I personally don't like Ive music that much but it's great to see that starship is letting them being more involved in their song even if it's only lyrics at the moment. Let's hope for DIVES that the girls can also continue to evolve and take a more active role in songwriting in the future.
There’s been only one K-group that made me feel like IVE did one year ago and it’s 2NE1 (back in the days of 2009 😉) and I’m so happy with what IVE’s doing right now!

Wonyoung jumping out of the plane in "I Am" is my favorite moment from an MV so far this year. Like it's completely ridiculous, and yet it's so on brand. She keeps getting more successful and doing more when so many people are constantly hating on her. Filming that scene, even though it was obviously not an actual plane jump and probably just some mild wire work over a safety mat and green screen, must have been so fun for her. She's doing stunts in a kpop MV. Who else is doing that in the 4th gen?! I have come around to really appreciate Wonyoung. Yes, it does often feel like she stands out due to the company pushing her to the front, but she tries to stay bold and unbothered, and I feel that's very courageous and should be commended. IDK, it just hit for me in all the best ways. Awesome video btw!

before the highlight medley i was also suspicious but when i saw the track listing and saw the writing and producing credits i was hyped because members participated and the original writer of eleven came back to participate in hypnosis and exy from wjsn wrote lips then came the highlight medley and it was so good !! so i went into the album knowing it’s good and i wasn’t disappointed

I loved the album as well, I’m glad you did so too. I just want to add to what you said about Wonyoung’s vocals. Even though she is not the most naturally gifted singer, she works well with what she has and is continuing to improve. Comparing her from 2 years ago in iz’one to this album is crazy and she’ll take it further. I think what’s special about her is her delivery. That’s talent imo. She kind of reminds me of IM from Monsta X who although a rapper, when he sings he steals the show even from Kihyun sometimes just because of his vocal tone and delivery. Wonyoung absolutely stands out in the album and whenever I see reaction videos from people that don’t know much about them or the whole ‘ow she doesn’t have the best vocals’ discourse, many pick her out as their favorite voice. She deserve this praise.
I agree, she's not the best but she knows how to use her voice. Even in I am, she has the least lines but she still manages to catch attention with her vocals. Her parts are one of my faves in I AM and in Hypnosis as well.
The black and white is on purpose based on the color spectrum. Afterlike was very color based and so between these primary colors you get the black and white. All the songs are connected and share a theme. The lipsync thing was them doing this because they performed over 4x that day while hosting and flew to Japan after the performance they were heavily busy busy. I didn't watch your video about it but I don't know if someone mentioned it. These girls are really hard working

Me too. I am has that kind of sound which is upbeat but also emotional at the same time (like Twice's feel special). Especially Yujin's I'm on my way line feels so emotional idk if it's only me tho.
i'm not gonna lie i wasn't a big fan of ive (i wasn't a hater i just didn't like them) but this album made me a fan i've been listening to the album and i also got more into their earlier songs, all 7 and i am impressed i really like them
i decided to stan ive after hearing this album i was pretty hesitant before like yeah i love all their songs but the fact that they were only dropping singles didn't sit right with me so i'm really happy they gave us a full length album i knew it was going to be good but i didn't expect it to be THIS good bc it's one of those inject it straight into my veins type of albums for me
i love this album so much I’m considering getting the physical copy. My favorite songs are currently lips and mine and I’m just so happy they came out with a full album with good bsides that don’t feel like fillers💀
I was also surprised to hear a full album from IVE. Nowadays, kpop groups release mostly EPs and mini album. My favorite tracks are Blue Blood, Heroine and Hypnosis mostly for the instrumentals and the vocals. Overall, I liked the album, but I prefer the b-sides to the title track. If IVE continues to give us good music like this I think it will change the perception of the group and hopefully stop the Ive/Wonyoung hate train (coz' it's exausting). I'm so happy IVE focuses on good music. IVE doesn't disappoint at all. Not to mention, Wonyoung wrote 2 WHOLE SONGS from this album - "Mine" and "Shine With Me", which when listening to these songs from her perspective, makes the songs even more soulful and emotional. Yujin also had a big hand writing Hypnosis and Gaeul on her rap lines. I'm so proud of them and I hope to see more of their success expand in all directions

Ngl, I'm super impressed with I Am! It sounds so good. I love the light vocals with a heavy electric guitar. I wasn't expecting IVE to go for such a heavy title track. It might just beat Eleven as my favourite title track from them
I agree with your comment regarding cohesion. All the songs are good but since Ive lacks a concrete musical identity it would've helped for the album to be more put together.
Ive is emulating SNSD who touched and killed different concepts and didnt care about “identity”. Snsd put out music they wanted (or rather SM). And it’s painfully obvious that those that can reinvent themselves are the ones that last long in the industry….and IVE IS HERE TO STAY. 😊
starship may be a shit company, but the artists under their roster are all talented! glad ive were able to show off their skills from their vocal capabilities, their dancing skills, and their writing skills because these kids are very skilled, they may not be top notch vocalists but they make it work for their songs and they are improving every release. i do agree that the album art is shit, starship is losing ideas with album art styles these days (copy-pasted the same format for shape of love, facade, after like, reason, and master:piece so that's very telling) so i'm hoping they switch things up for the next release for all their artists, canva is free anyways.

Nah, Yunjin has more vocal diversity than Liz, even though Liz is a good singer, and while Yujin is good, Chaewon is a much better vocalist and she proved that actively in IZONE. Liz is really the only vocalist in that group that really is an above average vocalist.

Listen Lips and Cherish have me in a choke hold specifically but the whole album has been on repeat,I've been in Kpop over 15 years okay? My first group & song was SNSD Oh! I usually only stan crazy talent (Nmixx and Xg are really the only 2 groups I stan in the new gen) With that being said IVE and Starship proved me WRONG. Would they ever be able to put out predebut content like Nmixx or XG and make me shook with their raw talent? No. But guess what? They know what they're doing. I can actually see and hear the improvement since they've debuted and that's all I care about tbh..I feel like everyone is so used to groups in the 5th gen coming out the gate with "perfection" in every category and have forgotten or never even experienced that part of the beauty of KPOP was watching a group grow and get better in all categories until they're just amazing 3, 4, 5 years down the line and they're really bringing that back for me, they really are. Their visuals, stage presence, charisma?? like Liz and Gaeul making people shut. up! okay! the execution of choreo, the choreo itself, live singing, styling even etc. etc. have gotten better and better and I feel like at this point they've really shut everyone up.. It's one of the best Albums I've ever heard. Honestly I really fully support them now, I'm here for what they're doing I really am, NO they are not THE most talented in terms of raw talent but they know what they're DOING and that's kinda everything. And don't forget that they are slaying the live performances and music shows too! Wonyoung has improved drastically from previous comebacks where she barely sanf live and now she almost doesnt skip any lines except to catch breath!!! I can't stress this enough. I honestly think that those who are doubting ive's abilities are just nitpicking and waiting for their downfall. They may not be the most talented vocal and dance-wise, but they do have good discography, stage presence, and performances. What i love about this album is that it is so diverse genre-wise, and definitely not boring to listen to. It isn't bland or sticking to one style. And i love that the members themselves took part in the creative process. Wonyoung literally gave a big slap to her haters with this album and they better back off. Looking forward to their future

i am and hypnosis are two of my new favorite songs and kitch has really grown on me. they seem to have so much fun with it and the mv oozes fun and confidence imo. the whole thing really fits with "i am" like okay this is who i am this is what we're about, keep talking about us
Ives album isn't a rock opera dude. The songs DON'T NEED to be tied together. They don't have to be cohesive. Every song is different, and each is amazing in its own way. Stop nitpicking.
First of I really like your honesty and you're literally got to be the fairest and most reasonable Ktuber. Personally, I think it has Album of the Year potential, but it is still far too early for that. The close second is Purole Kiss with Cabin Fever and the third is Billlyie's new album. One last thing or question: Do you react/listen to Japanese Artists like Yaosobi or Fujii Kaze.

As for AotY, I consider myself a bigger Purple Kiss and Billlie fan than I am/was an I’ve fan. And both groups released great albums top to bottom this year. But Ive’s is better in my opinion. It may be historically good when we look back a few years from now.
Regarding with the B-Side, I agree that their "filler songs" were weak. I disagree that Royal is one of them, Royal arguably is one of their best song. For me, My Ive song ranking are as follows: (This is excluding the new B-sides from I've IVE) 1. Love Dive 2. After Like 3. Royal 4. I Am 5. Eleven Then My Satisfaction / Kitsch / Take It all in the same category of "filler songs" as you've mentioned
My 1st thought about this album was the lack of cohesion so I got you immediately but even then it wasn't a bad thing 8n this case. I and a few friends were discussing 4th gen ggs 1st albums and some had the same opinion as you but I felt that Ive's 1st album would be where they prove themselves in the gg landscape. It's better to move quickly and show a full body of work to get ahead in this game. It doesn't have to be cohesive in that it's the 1st showing. It should show variety and skillset though and Ive did that perfectly.
i've always been a sucker for cookie cutter pop, and ive really expanded on that style of music in this album. is it still standard pop? yea, pretty much. am i still gonna eat it up? 100% i don't think i'll ever understand people who adamantly hate pop music for being "shallow" and "not deep". but sometimes i just wanna listen to a fun song that's supposed to be taken at face value. my personal favorite tracks on this album are (in no particular order): 1. blue blood 2. i am 3. heroine 4. hypnosis 5. not your girl 6. cherish (if you could not tell i'm a fan of antidrops when they're done well, and ive did a fantastic job with them on this album) and lastly i wanna give my two cents on kitsch. honestly, i've grown to enjoy in a somewhat ironic way. the best way i can describe is it's campy (in the good way) and, just a little bit, kitschy. but that's just me personally.

Id like to disagree on a metaphor which is the silliest thing to disagree on but I have a point! An album is not a sandwich, you are not experiencing all of the songs at once unless you wanna give yourself a panic attack, an album is a charcuterie board, you DO want all of the things in that board to complement each other, but you definitively also want variety to bring out the best. You may even want a few things that dont inmediately go together because you know that multiple people are gonna eat from the same plate, and its nice to actualy consider all of them, as long as you stay in theme. As for the album, for me most of it is pretty consistent with the general sound that IVE has been bringing recently, Kitsch, Not Your Girl and Hypnosis kind of jump out the most as unique, and they leaned on some of that by making Not Your Girl the one song they previewed live and Kitsch the promoted Bside! Like I feel like you could grab a few of every other Bside from this album, place them in Eleven, Love Dive or Afterlike and create a mini album
I think the reason the musics don't match is because is I've IVE. Like the video that presented them bit over a year ago. They have all, I HAVE, I've, IVE. I would just change Not your girl of order 😂 actually I always do when I listen. I though they would come with a full album because it looked as it was building for it. I though they're going to be a few music that weren't New, so happy I was wrong. And so sad it's what will happen to Le sserafim, I though they would get just new songs 😅
they really could've gotten away with a mid album, but they didnt and put up a great fight. as much as i praise Stayc for the past 2 years, they dont really have a monopoly on the "4th gen no skip music" tag anymore
the only complaint I have with this album is the amount of songs on it that feel like they were nerfed. hypnosis has that INSANE rave sound for maybe 10 seconds and then they lock it away and never give it back?? and this kinda happens with a lot of the songs, they just need a month more in the oven and they will be literally perfect. non of this is relevant for Mine or Blue blood btw, id like those tattooed on my spine thank you

i decided to stan ive after hearing this album i was pretty hesitant before like yeah i love all their songs but the fact that they were only dropping singles didn't sit right with me so i'm really happy they gave us a full length album i knew it was going to be good but i didn't expect it to be THIS good bc it's one of those inject it straight into my veins type of albums for me

I was also surprised to hear a full album from IVE. Nowadays, kpop groups release mostly EPs and mini album. My favorite tracks are Blue Blood, Heroine and Hypnosis mostly for the instrumentals and the vocals. Overall, I liked the album, but I prefer the b-sides to the title track. If IVE continues to give us good music like this I think it will change the perception of the group and hopefully stop the Ive/Wonyoung hate train (coz' it's exausting). I'm so happy IVE focuses on good music. IVE doesn't disappoint at all. Not to mention, Wonyoung wrote 2 WHOLE SONGS from this album - "Mine" and "Shine With Me", which when listening to these songs from her perspective, makes the songs even more soulful and emotional. Yujin also had a big hand writing Hypnosis and Gaeul on her rap lines. I'm so proud of them and I hope to see more of their success expand in all directions

I’ve been really into Ive lately so I was really excited about this comeback and the album. I love that they’re getting involved more with the music. It makes me even more excited for their upcoming comebacks. They’re easily one of my favorite rookie groups along with Le Sserafim.

Ngl, I'm super impressed with I Am! It sounds so good. I love the light vocals with a heavy electric guitar. I wasn't expecting IVE to go for such a heavy title track. It might just beat Eleven as my favourite title track from them
I agree with your comment regarding cohesion. All the songs are good but since Ive lacks a concrete musical identity it would've helped for the album to be more put together.
Ive is emulating SNSD who touched and killed different concepts and didnt care about “identity”. Snsd put out music they wanted (or rather SM).
And it’s painfully obvious that those that can reinvent themselves are the ones that last long in the industry….and IVE IS HERE TO STAY. 😊
starship may be a shit company, but the artists under their roster are all talented! glad ive were able to show off their skills from their vocal capabilities, their dancing skills, and their writing skills because these kids are very skilled, they may not be top notch vocalists but they make it work for their songs and they are improving every release.
i do agree that the album art is shit, starship is losing ideas with album art styles these days (copy-pasted the same format for shape of love, facade, after like, reason, and master:piece so that's very telling) so i'm hoping they switch things up for the next release for all their artists, canva is free anyways.

Nah, Yunjin has more vocal diversity than Liz, even though Liz is a good singer, and while Yujin is good, Chaewon is a much better vocalist and she proved that actively in IZONE. Liz is really the only vocalist in that group that really is an above average vocalist.

Listen Lips and Cherish have me in a choke hold specifically but the whole album has been on repeat,I've been in Kpop over 15 years okay? My first group & song was SNSD Oh! I usually only stan crazy talent (Nmixx and Xg are really the only 2 groups I stan in the new gen)
With that being said IVE and Starship proved me WRONG. Would they ever be able to put out predebut content like Nmixx or XG and make me shook with their raw talent? No. But guess what? They know what they're doing. I can actually see and hear the improvement since they've debuted and that's all I care about tbh..I feel like everyone is so used to groups in the 5th gen coming out the gate with "perfection" in every category and have forgotten or never even experienced that part of the beauty of KPOP was watching a group grow and get better in all categories until they're just amazing 3, 4, 5 years down the line and they're really bringing that back for me, they really are. Their visuals, stage presence, charisma?? like Liz and Gaeul making people shut. up! okay! the execution of choreo, the choreo itself, live singing, styling even etc. etc. have gotten better and better and I feel like at this point they've really shut everyone up..

I just can't everything has been executed flawlessly, as of now they have the best discography of their peers I SAID IT this is THE best Kpop album I have actually ever heard. It's one of the best Albums I've ever heard. Honestly I really fully support them now, I'm here for what they're doing I really am, NO they are not THE most talented in terms of raw talent but they know what they're DOING and that's kinda everything. Wonyoung has improved drastically from previous comebacks where she barely sanf live and now she almost doesnt skip any lines except to catch breath!!! I can't stress this enough. I honestly think that those who are doubting ive's abilities are just nitpicking and waiting for their downfall. They may not be the most talented vocal and dance-wise, but they do have good discography, stage presence, and performances. What i love about this album is that it is so diverse genre-wise, and definitely not boring to listen to. It isn't bland or sticking to one style. And i love that the members themselves took part in the creative process.
Wonyoung literally gave a big slap to her haters with this album and they better back off. Looking forward to their future

i am and hypnosis are two of my new favorite songs and kitch has really grown on me. they seem to have so much fun with it and the mv oozes fun and confidence imo. the whole thing really fits with "i am" like okay this is who i am this is what we're about, keep talking about us

Personally, I think it has Album of the Year potential, but it is still far too early for that. The close second is Purole Kiss with Cabin Fever and the third is Billlyie's new album. One last thing or question: Do you react/listen to Japanese Artists like Yaosobi or Fujii Kaze.

As for AotY, I consider myself a bigger Purple Kiss and Billlie fan than I am/was an I’ve fan. And both groups released great albums top to bottom this year. But Ive’s is better in my opinion. It may be historically good when we look back a few years from now.

My 1st thought about this album was the lack of cohesion so I got you immediately but even then it wasn't a bad thing 8n this case.
I and a few friends were discussing 4th gen ggs 1st albums and some had the same opinion as you but I felt that Ive's 1st album would be where they prove themselves in the gg landscape. It's better to move quickly and show a full body of work to get ahead in this game. It doesn't have to be cohesive in that it's the 1st showing. It should show variety and skillset though and Ive did that perfectly.
i've always been a sucker for cookie cutter pop, and ive really expanded on that style of music in this album.
is it still standard pop? yea, pretty much.
am i still gonna eat it up? 100%
i don't think i'll ever understand people who adamantly hate pop music for being "shallow" and "not deep". but sometimes i just wanna listen to a fun song that's supposed to be taken at face value.
my personal favorite tracks on this album are (in no particular order):

5. not your girl
6. cherish
(if you could not tell i'm a fan of antidrops when they're done well, and ive did a fantastic job with them on this album)
and lastly i wanna give my two cents on kitsch. honestly, i've grown to enjoy in a somewhat ironic way. the best way i can describe is it's campy (in the good way) and, just a little bit, kitschy. but that's just me personally.
I really don't get the train of hate to Kistch, like, i really love that song more than I Am but, however, this is a great album. Mine is, for now, my favorite.

Id like to disagree on a metaphor which is the silliest thing to disagree on but I have a point!
An album is not a sandwich, you are not experiencing all of the songs at once unless you wanna give yourself a panic attack, an album is a charcuterie board, you DO want all of the things in that board to complement each other, but you definitively also want variety to bring out the best. You may even want a few things that dont inmediately go together because you know that multiple people are gonna eat from the same plate, and its nice to actualy consider all of them, as long as you stay in theme.
As for the album, for me most of it is pretty consistent with the general sound that IVE has been bringing recently, Kitsch, Not Your Girl and Hypnosis kind of jump out the most as unique, and they leaned on some of that by making Not Your Girl the one song they previewed live and Kitsch the promoted Bside! Like I feel like you could grab a few of every other Bside from this album, place them in Eleven, Love Dive or Afterlike and create a mini album
I think the reason the musics don't match is because is I've IVE. Like the video that presented them bit over a year ago. They have all, I HAVE, I've, IVE. I would just change Not your girl of order 😂 actually I always do when I listen. I though they would come with a full album because it looked as it was building for it. I though they're going to be a few music that weren't New, so happy I was wrong. And so sad it's what will happen to Le sserafim, I though they would get just new songs 😅

they really could've gotten away with a mid album, but they didnt and put up a great fight. as much as i praise Stayc for the past 2 years, they dont really have a monopoly on the "4th gen no skip music" tag anymore
the only complaint I have with this album is the amount of songs on it that feel like they were nerfed. hypnosis has that INSANE rave sound for maybe 10 seconds and then they lock it away and never give it back?? and this kinda happens with a lot of the songs, they just need a month more in the oven and they will be literally perfect. non of this is relevant for Mine or Blue blood btw, id like those tattooed on my spine thank you
