1. eternal sunshine 2. short n sweet 3. hit me hard and soft 4. brat 5. ttpd 6. cowboy carter 7. the secret of us 8. radical optimism (even tho u didn’t add it, cxoxo would go at #4, a really good album)
I honestly think all the albums have been anywhere from good, to amazing. I feel like everyone has had their moment. Idk if I have a favorite but my top 2 for aoty is eternal sunshine or brat
my ranking is 1. cc // brat (around 9 to 9.5) 3. ttpd // radical optimism (extended versions only) (around 8 to 9) 5. hmhas // eternal sunshine // short and sweet (around 6 to 8) 7. radical optimism (6) 8. the secret of us (5) I haven't listened to with youth so I'm not ranking it
I think Hit me hard and soft ist by far the #1 for me, such a great album, I listened to it way too much 😂 The second one is Rise and fall of a midwest princess, I know it came out last year but I just discovered it recently, so many catchy songs on it. On the #3 I can't decide between Short n Sweet or Radical Optimism, Dua's album is underrated for me and sabrina slightly overrated, both are great. Maybe Sabrina was a little bit more creative so I would give her the number 3 and the 4 to Dua Lipa. Number 5 is brat, it's obviously a good album, but it doesn't fit my taste as good as the others and I think her vocals aren't quite on par with the other 4 girls mentioned so far, which isn't a bad thing, she has found her sound and does it really well, but there are many previous songs from Charli I would prefer to brat. I can't say much about the others, Ariana Grande isn't my music, I haven't found the time to listen to Taylors entire new album as it's so long, the same for Beyoncé, haven't gave it a try now, also Gracie Abrams. Their 3 Albums are on my list now, I will give them a listen, but my first place is definitely set.
It kind of feel like you’re just lying to yourself about Gracie Abram’s voice. Of everything you could have said you chose to say she has a unique voice? She’s super derivative of Taylor Swift, Lorde, some Lana, and a bunch of other artists and the main issue with her music is that she lacks her own identity in production, songwriting, and especially the vocals
for me: 1. hit me hard and soft - billie eilish idk what to say really. i love the production and the lyrics and her voice sounds so good. my top 3 is 1. chihiro 2. bittersuite 3. wildflower 2. short n’ sweet - sabrina carpenter this album is easily sabrina’s best work. i liked emails i can’t send but nothing really stuck with me except for because i liked a boy and decode, with short n’ sweet on the other hand had a bunch of stand out tracks that i love so much. my top 3 1. dumb & poetic 2. taste 3. slim pickins/don’t smile 3. ttpd - taylor swift at first i didn’t love this album, but it’s grown on me a lot over time. like most of the albums from this year i like the lyrics, but the one problem i have is that some of the songs sound the same. for example: i look in peoples windows which is one of my favorites from the record sounds like death by a thousand cuts from lover. other than that i love this album. my top 3 1. the black dog 2. imgonnagetyouback 3. loml 4. eternal sunshine - ariana grande no words. perfection. 10/10. i can’t tell if i like eternal sunshine better or ttpd better, so just keep that in mind. i haven’t loved an ariana record that much since dangerous woman. but eternal sunshine is just so good. my top 3 1. we can’t be friends (wait for your love) 2. supernatural 3. eternal sunshine 5. the secret of us - gracie abrams this is gracie’s best album. i loved good riddance especially difficult, best and right now, but the secret of us is just 10x better. my top 3 1. i love you, im sorry 2. us. (feat. taylor swift) 3. free now 6. brat - charli xcx not my favorite album from this year but not terrible. i like this album but compared to the others on this list i just don’t like it as much. my top 3 1. 360 2. mean girls 3. sympathy is a knife 7. found heaven - conan gray i don’t love this album that much. i feel that people are trying to bring back 80s sounding music which isn’t what i’m mad about it’s this weird voice thing he does in some of the songs. i just don’t like it, it sounds weird. my top 3 1. alley rose 2. winner 3. never ending song 8. radical optimism - dua lipa nothing much to say really. just don’t love it. my top 3: 1. houdini 2. happy for you 3. these walls 9. fireworks and rollerblades - benson boone i never liked benson really. i do like in the stars a lot, but other than that not much i liked about this album. my top 3 1. in the stars 2. drunk in my mind 3. ghost town 10. cowboy carter - beyoncé i don’t like this album at all. don’t think country is her thing. i was really looking forward to this album, but i just don’t love the country. my top 3 1. daughter 2. 16 carriages 3. american requiem hope my opinion doesn’t effect yall much. thx for reading :)
I would say Taylor's album has too much cohesion, the songs are so samey. Plus any album that starts with Fortnite is destined to be yet another slow sad girl album. Billie's album was a bit too moody and fillerish at times, Cowboy Carter went downhill after YaYa. I'm curious where Chappell would stack up here.
The main problem with "Radical Optimism", is that it's not "Future Nostalgia". It's definitely not as good as Dua Lipa's previous album. But having said that, taken on its own, I think it's a fine pop album. I think it should have done far better in North America.
I think the issue with TTPD is not the main album, but the anthology second part. The album by itself is definitely one that grows on you overtime bar a few bad tracks i just cant get into (the title track, florida, i can fix him, ect). I think the issue with the record is its extremely bloated and the highs of the album are brought down by how unnecessarily long it is. The anthology did not need to be a second album, as realistically it should’ve been a 6-8 song deluxe similar to the 3am addition. This would mean the highs of the anthology like the black dog, loml, ect arent dragged down by the lows like thank you aimee, ect. If the album had been more concise and cut down significantly, i think it would’ve been much better received as to me the length just makes it a boring drawn out slog with a great few songs every now and then. The arguments that she needs to hire an editor and not just jack antonoff are completely valid to me, its clear that quantity over quality was pushed for on this record to make it a surprise double album, instead of keeping the great tracks and trimming the bad ones.
1 - hit me hard and soft (masterpiece. can't stop listening to it front to back) 2 - brat (charli really got me with this one) 3 - eternal sunshine (sweet and beautifully made) 4 - cowboy carter (the heartfelt tender moments were the most memorable to me, but as a whole the listening experience is not that exciting. nonetheless is very cohessive and well put together) 5 - the tortured poet department (it would've been way higher if is was edit way down. it gets repetitive very fast. also thank you aimee it was... a choice) 6 - radical optimism (I mean... the singles is where is at, but the rest of the tracks are so forgettable, which is sad cause dua has such a great voice) 7 - short n sweet (I just don't understand how this one is so successful. like... it really has nothing to say. it's not original by any means. to me, just sounds generic. the "me so horny" + "I'm so hot" + "I'm way better than the other girl" narritive combo is so tacky. I'm all about women embracing their sexuality, but this one feels like is was totally made for the male gaze. and by that, I don't mean it was made to please a male audience, but a female audience that partakes in patriarchal narratives about women without realising. It can't be that I'm the only one who sees it)

Radical Optimism awesome album 💿 its messages its lyrics rhythms are awesome. And it has a masterpiece like Houdini. And the last but not least Dua putting diversities every work she did. The vocals are awesome so that’s why I never bored when I listen to her. I am tired of listening fast pop songs Dua’s works are sustainable. Even after all that years we will remember her masterpieces.

My ranking:
1. Short n Sweet 🩵
2. Ttpd🤍
3. The secret of us 💛
4. Hit me hard and soft 💙
5. Eternal sunshine 🧡
(Sorry ari 😭)
Brat No. 1 💚
Love your takes!
Great video! I never comment but just know I watch and enjoy all your videos. Silent lurker here 👀 keep it up!
1 - hit me hard and soft (masterpiece. can't stop listening to it front to back)
2 - brat (charli really got me with this one)
3 - eternal sunshine (sweet and beautifully made)
4 - cowboy carter (the heartfelt tender moments were the most memorable to me, but as a whole the listening experience is not that exciting. nonetheless is very cohessive and well put together)
5 - the tortured poet department (it would've been way higher if is was edit way down. it gets repetitive very fast. also thank you aimee it was... a choice)
6 - radical optimism (I mean... the singles is where is at, but the rest of the tracks are so forgettable, which is sad cause dua has such a great voice)
7 - short n sweet (I just don't understand how this one is so successful. like... it really has nothing to say. it's not original by any means. to me, just sounds generic. the "me so horny" + "I'm so hot" + "I'm way better than the other girl" narritive combo is so tacky. I'm all about women embracing their sexuality, but this one feels like is was totally made for the male gaze. and by that, I don't mean it was made to please a male audience, but a female audience that partakes in patriarchal narratives about women without realising. It can't be that I'm the only one who sees it)
Jess Glynne, but I assume in the US no one even can remember her

Hi
Helll naaah
Radical Optimism awesome album 💿 its messages its lyrics rhythms are awesome. And it has a masterpiece like Houdini. And the last but not least Dua putting diversities every work she did. The vocals are awesome so that’s why I never bored when I listen to her. I am tired of listening fast pop songs Dua’s works are sustainable. Even after all that years we will remember her masterpieces.
TTPD 🤮
sad “think later” by tate mcrae came out in december 2023 so she was left out
